It is narrated on the authority of Abu Salma (may Allah be pleased with him) that his parents came to the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) with their case concerning him. One of my parents was Muslim and the other was a disbeliever. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) turned towards the disbeliever and said, “O Allah! Guide him.” Then he turned towards the Muslim parent and ruled in his/her favor regarding me.

حضرت ابوسلمہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ ان کے والدین ان کے متعلق اپنا مقدمہ لے کر نبی کریم ﷺ کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوئے میرے والدین میں سے ایک مسلمان تھا اور دوسرا کافر نبی کریم ﷺ نے کافر کی طرف متوجہ ہو کر فرمایا اے اللہ! اسے ہدایت عطا فرما اور مسلمان کی طرف متوجہ ہو کر میرے متعلق فیصلہ اس کے حق میں کردیا۔
Hazrat Abu Salma (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se marvi hai ki un ke walidain un ke mutalliq apna muqadma lekar Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ki khidmat mein hazir huye mere walidain mein se ek musalman tha aur dusra kafir Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne kafir ki taraf mutawajjah hokar farmaya aye Allah ise hidayat ata farma aur musalman ki taraf mutawajjah hokar mere mutalliq faisla is ke haq mein kar diya
Abdul Hameed bin Salmah narrates that his grandfather had embraced Islam during the lifetime of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), but his grandmother hadn't. The grandfather and grandmother had a son, and they both came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) with a dispute regarding him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "If you both deem it appropriate, then give your son the choice (to go with whoever he wishes)." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) made the father sit in one corner and the mother in another, and gave the child the choice. The child started walking towards his mother, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed, "Oh Allah! Guide this child." And so, the child turned and returned to his father.

عبدالحمید بن سلمہ کہتے ہیں کہ ان کے دادا دور نبوت ہی میں مسلمان ہوگئے تھے لیکن ان کی دادی نے اسلام قبول نہیں کیا تھا دادا کا دادی سے ایک بیٹا تھا وہ دونوں اس کا مقدمہ لے کر نبی کریم ﷺ کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوئے نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا تم دونوں اگر مناسب سمجھو تو اپنے بیٹے کو اختیار دے دو (وہ جس کے پاس جانا چاہے چلاجائے) پھر نبی کریم ﷺ نے ایک کونے میں باپ کو بٹھایا اور دوسرے کونے میں ماں کو اور بچے کو اختیار دے دیا وہ بچہ ماں کی طرف چلنے لگا تو نبی کریم ﷺ نے دعا کی کہ اے اللہ! اس بچے کو ہدایت عطا فرما چناچہ وہ اپنے باپ کی طرف لوٹ آیا۔
Abdulhamid bin Salma kahte hain ki unke dada dor e nabuat hi mein musalman hogaye the lekin unki dadi ne Islam qubool nahi kiya tha dada ka dadi se ek beta tha woh dono iska muqadma le kar Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ki khidmat mein hazir huye Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya tum dono agar munasib samjho to apne bete ko ikhtiyar de do (woh jis ke pas jana chahe chalajaye) phir Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne ek kone mein baap ko bithaya aur dusre kone mein maa ko aur bache ko ikhtiyar de diya woh bacha maa ki taraf chalne laga to Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne dua ki ke aye Allah! Is bache ko hidayat ata farma chunancha woh apne baap ki taraf laut aaya.

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "If you both agree then give your son the option (to go with whomever he wants)." Then, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) made the father sit in one corner and the mother in another, and gave the choice to the child. The child started walking towards his mother, so the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) prayed, "O Allah! Guide this boy." And so, he returned to his father.

Abu Salama (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade:
- Walking with pride (like a crow) during prayer.
- Spreading the arms like a beast while prostrating.
- Sticking to one spot for prayer, like a camel does.

حضرت ابو سلمہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ نبی کریم ﷺ نے نماز میں کوے کی طرح ٹھونگیں مارنے سے درندوں کی طرح اپنے بازو سجدے میں بچھانے سے اور نماز کے لئے ایک ہی جگہ متعین کرلینے سے منع فرمایا ہے جیسے اونٹ اپنی جگہ متعین کرلیتا ہے۔
Hazrat Abu Salma Raziallahu Anhu se marvi hai ki Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne namaz mein kowe ki tarah thongiyan marne se darindon ki tarah apne bazu sajday mein bichhane se aur namaz ke liye ek hi jagah mutayyan kar lene se mana farmaya hai jaise unt apni jagah mutayyan kar leta hai.

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "If you both agree, then give your son the choice (to go with whomever he wants)." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) made the father sit in one corner and the mother in the other, and gave the child the choice. The child started walking towards his mother, so the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) prayed, "O Allah! Guide this child." And so, the child turned back and went towards his father.
