Hadith of Rabi'ah ibn Ka'b al-Aslami

حَدِیث رَبِیعَةَ بنِ كَعب الاَسلَمِیِّ

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 16574

It is narrated by Rabia bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) that I used to sleep in the blessed chamber of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Whenever the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would wake up for prayer, I would hear him saying "Alhamdulillah Rabbil Alameen" for a long time, then he would say "Subhan Allahil Azeem Wa Bihamdihi" for a long time.

سیدنا ربیعہ بن کعب رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ میں نبی ﷺ کے حجرہ مبارکہ میں سویا کرتا تھا میں سنتا تھا کہ نبی ﷺ جب بھی نماز کے لئے بیدار ہوتے تو کافی دیر تک الحمد للہ رب العالمین کہتے رہتے پھر کافی دیر تک سبحان اللہ العظیم وبحمدہ کہتے رہتے۔

Sayidna Rabia bin Kaab (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se marvi hai ke mein Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke hujre mubarak mein soya karta tha mein sunta tha ke Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) jab bhi namaz ke liye bedar hote to kafi der tak Alhamdulillah Hirabbil Alamin kehte rehte phir kafi der tak Subhan Allahu Alazeem Wa Bihamdihi kehte rehte.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ كَعْبٍ الْأَسْلَمِيِّ ، قَالَ: كُنْتُ أَنَامُ فِي حُجْرَةِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَكُنْتُ أَسْمَعُهُ إِذَا قَامَ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ يُصَلِّي يَقُولُ:" الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ الْهَوِيَّ"، قَالَ: ثُمَّ يَقُولُ:" سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ الْعَظِيمِ وَبِحَمْدِهِ الْهَوِيَّ".

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 16575

It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Rabee’ah bin Ka’b (may Allah be pleased with him) that I used to sleep in the blessed chamber of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) so that I could offer him water for wudu. I would hear him saying, “All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the worlds,” for a long time when he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would wake up for prayer, and then he would say “Glory and praise be to Allah, the Most Great,” for a long time.

سیدنا ربیعہ بن کعب رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ میں نبی ﷺ کے حجرہ مبارکہ میں سویا کرتا تھا تاکہ وضو کا پانی پیش کر سکوں میں سنتا تھا کہ نبی ﷺ جب بھی نماز کے لئے بیدار ہوتے تو کافی دیر تک الحمد للہ رب العالمین کہتے رہتے پھر کافی دیر تک سبحان اللہ العظیم وبحمدہ کہتے رہتے۔

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي رَبِيعَةُ بْنُ كَعْبٍ الْأَسْلَمِيُّ ، قَالَ: كُنْتُ أَبِيتُ عِنْدَ بَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أُعْطِيهِ وَضُوءَهُ، فَأَسْمَعُهُ بَعْدَ هَوِيٍّ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ، يَقُولُ:" سَمِعَ اللَّهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ"، وَأَسْمَعُهُ بَعْدَ هَوِيٍّ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ، يَقُولُ:" الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ".

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 16576

It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Rabee’ah bin Ka’b (may Allah be pleased with him) that I used to sleep in the blessed chamber of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) so that I could bring him water for ablution. I used to hear that whenever the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) woke up for prayer, he would recite “Alhamdulillah Rabbil Alameen” (All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the Worlds) for a long time. Then he would recite “Subhanallahil adheem wa bihamdihi” (Glory be to Allah, the Most Great, and all praise is due to Him) for a long time.

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ الدَّسْتُوَائِيُّ ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ كَعْبٍ الْأَسْلَمِيِّ ، قَالَ: كُنْتُ أَبِيتُ عِنْدَ بَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أُعْطِيهِ وَضُوءَهُ، فَأَسْمَعُهُ بَعْدَ هَوِيٍّ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ، يَقُولُ:" سَمِعَ اللَّهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ" وَالْهَوِيِّ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ، يَقُولُ:" الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ".

It is narrated on the authority of our leader Rabia Aslami, may Allah be pleased with him, that I used to serve the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. One day, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said to me, "Rabia, why don't you get married?" I said, "O Messenger of Allah! By Allah, I do not want to get married because, firstly, I do not have enough to fulfill the needs of a wife, and secondly, I do not like anything to distract me from you." Hearing this, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, turned away from me, and I continued serving him. After some time, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, again said to me, "Rabia, why don't you get married?" I gave the same reply as before. But then I thought to myself that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, knows better than me what is good for me in this world and the Hereafter. So now, if the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, asks me again, I will say, "Alright, O Messenger of Allah! Whatever you command me to do." So, when the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, asked me for the third time, "Rabia, why don't you get married?" I said, "Why not! Command me as you wish, O Messenger of Allah." The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, then mentioned the name of a tribe of the Ansar with whom he had a relationship and said, "Go to them and tell them that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, has sent me to you and has commanded that you marry me to so-and-so woman." So, I went to them and conveyed the message of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. They welcomed me and said, "The messenger of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, will not return without completing his task." So they married me to that woman and treated me with great kindness. They did not even ask me for witnesses. I returned to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, feeling sad. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, asked, "Rabia, what is the matter with you?" I said, "O Messenger of Allah! I went to a noble people, they married me, honored me, and were kind to me. They did not even ask me for witnesses (to give the woman of such noble people), and I do not even have the Mahr (dower)." The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said to Buraidah, "O Buraidah Aslami! Collect gold equal to the weight of a date stone for him." He collected it, and I took it to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "Take this gold to them and tell them that this is the Mahr of the girl." So I went to them and told them that this was her Mahr. They accepted it willingly and said, "It is enough and pure (lawful)." After a while, I returned to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, feeling sad again. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, asked, "Rabia, why are you sad now?" I said, "O Messenger of Allah! I have never seen people more noble than them. They were content with what I gave them and said appreciatively that it was enough and pure (lawful). I have nothing to offer them a wedding feast." The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, then said to Buraidah, "Bring a goat for him." So he brought a very healthy and large ram. Then the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said to me, "Go to Aisha and tell her to give you the bag in which the barley is kept." So I went to her and conveyed the message of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. She said, "Here is the bag; there are nine Sa's of barley in it, and by Allah! We have nothing else. Take it." So I took that bag to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and conveyed the message of Aisha. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "Take both of these things to them and tell them to make bread out of it." So I went to them, taking the ram with me. Some people from the tribe of Aslam were also with me. Reaching there, I told them to bake bread from this flour and cook the meat of this ram. They said, "We will suffice you in the matter of bread, and you suffice us in the matter of the ram." So I and my companions caught the ram, slaughtered it, skinned it, and started cooking it. سیدنا ربیعہ اسلمی رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ میں نبی ﷺ کی خدمت کیا کرتا تھا ایک دن نبی ﷺ نے مجھ سے فرمایا: ربیعہ! تم شادی کیوں نہیں کر لیتے؟ میں نے عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ!! واللہ میں تو شادی نہیں کرنا چاہتا کیونکہ ایک تو میرے پاس اتنا نہیں ہے کہ عورت کی ضروریات پوری ہو سکیں اور دوسری بات یہ بھی ہے کہ مجھے یہ بات پسند نہیں ہے کہ کوئی چیز مجھے آپ سے دور کر دے، نبی ﷺ نے یہ سن کر مجھ سے اعراض فرما لیا اور میں آپ کی خدمت کرتا رہا۔ کچھ عرصہ بعد نبی ﷺ نے دوبارہ مجھ سے یہی فرمایا کہ ربیعہ! تم شادی کیوں نہیں کر لیتے؟ میں نے حسب سابق وہی جواب دے دیا لیکن پھر میں اپنے دل میں سوچنے لگا کہ مجھ سے زیادہ نبی ﷺ جانتے ہیں کہ دنیا و آخرت میں میرے لئے کیا چیز بہتر ہے، اس لئے اب اگر نبی ﷺ نے دوبارہ فرمایا: تو میں کہہ دوں گا ٹھیک ہے یا رسول اللہ!! آپ مجھے جو چاہیں حکم دیں۔ چنانچہ جب تیسری مرتبہ نبی ﷺ نے مجھ سے فرمایا کہ ربیعہ تم شادی کیوں نہیں کر لیتے؟ تو میں نے عرض کیا: کیوں نہیں! آپ مجھے جو چاہیں حکم دیجئے، نبی ﷺ نے انصار کے ایک قبیلے کا نام لے کر جن کے ساتھ نبی ﷺ کا تعلق تھا، فرمایا: ان کے پاس چلے جاؤ اور جا کر کہو کہ نبی ﷺ نے مجھے آپ لوگوں کے پاس بھیجا ہے اور یہ حکم دیا ہے کہ آپ لوگ فلاں عورت کے ساتھ میرا نکاح کر دیں۔ چنانچہ میں ان کے پاس چلا گیا اور انہیں نبی ﷺ کا یہ پیغام سنا دیا، انہوں نے مجھے خوش آمدید کہا اور کہنے لگے کہ نبی ﷺ کا قاصد اپنا کام مکمل کئے بغیر نہیں جائے گا، چنانچہ انہوں نے اس عورت کے ساتھ میرا نکاح کر دیا اور میرے ساتھ خوب مہربانی کے ساتھ پیش آئے اور مجھ سے گواہوں کا بھی مطالبہ نہ کیا، وہاں سے لوٹ کر میں نبی ﷺ کی خدمت میں غمگین ہو کر حاضر ہوا، نبی ﷺ نے پوچھا: ربیعہ! تمہیں کیا ہوا؟ میں نے عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ!! میں ایک شریف قوم کے پاس پہنچا، انہوں نے میرا نکاح کرادیا میرا آ کرام کیا اور مہربانی سے پیش آئے اور مجھ سے گواہوں کا بھی مطالبہ نہیں کیا (ایسے شریف لوگوں کی عورت کو دینے کے لئے) میرے پاس مہر بھی نہیں ہے، نبی ﷺ نے سیدنا بریدہ سے فرمایا: اے بریدہ اسلمی! اس کے لئے کھجور کی گٹھلی کے برابر سونا جمع کر و، انہوں نے اسے جمع کیا اور میں وہ لے کر نبی ﷺ کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوا، نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا: یہ سونا ان لوگوں کے پاس لے جاؤ اور ان سے کہو کہ یہ اس لڑکی کا مہر ہے، چنانچہ میں نے ان کے پاس پہنچ کر یہی کہہ دیا کہ یہ اس کا مہر ہے، انہوں نے رضامندی سے اسے قبول کر لیا اور کہنے لگے کہ بہت ہے اور پاکیزہ (حلال) ہے۔ تھوڑی دیر بعد میں پھر نبی ﷺ کے پاس غمگین ہو کر واپس آگیا، نبی ﷺ نے پوچھا: ربیعہ! اب کیوں غمگین ہو؟ میں نے عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ!! میں نے ان لوگوں سے زیادہ شریف لوگ کہیں نہیں دیکھے، میں نے انہیں جو دے دیا، وہ اسی پر راضی ہو گئے اور تحسین کرتے ہوئے کہنے لگے کہ بہت ہے اور پاکیزہ (حلال) ہے، ایسے لوگوں کو دعوت ولیمہ کھلانے کے لئے میرے پاس کچھ نہیں ہے تو نبی ﷺ نے پھر سیدنا بریدہ سے فرمایا کہ اس کے لئے ایک بکری لاؤ، چنانچہ وہ ایک نہایت صحت مند اور بہت بڑا مینڈھا لے کر آئے، پھر نبی ﷺ نے مجھ سے فرمایا کہ عائشہ کے پاس جاؤ اور ان سے کہو کہ وہ تھیلی دے دیں جس میں غلہ رکھا ہوا ہے، چنانچہ میں نے ان کے پاس جا کر نبی ﷺ کا پیغام پہنچا دیا، انہوں نے فرمایا کہ یہ تھیلی ہے، اس میں نو صاع جَو ہے اور بخدا! اس کے علاوہ ہمارے پاس کچھ نہیں ہے، یہی لے جاؤ، چنانچہ میں وہ تھیلی لے کر نبی ﷺ کے پاس آیا اور سیدنا عائشہ کا پیغام پہنچا دیا۔ نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا: یہ دونوں چیزیں ان لوگوں کے پاس لے جاؤ اور ان سے کہو کہ اس کی روٹیاں بنالیں، چنانچہ میں ان کے پاس چلا گیا اور وہ مینڈھا بھی ساتھ لے گیا، میرے ساتھ قبیلہ اسلم کے کچھ لوگ تھے وہاں پہنچ کر ان لوگوں سے کہا کہ اس آٹے کی روٹیاں پکالیں اور اس مینڈھے کا گوشت پکا لیں، وہ کہنے لگے کہ روٹیوں کے معاملے میں ہم آپ کی کفایت کر یں گے اور مینڈھے کے معاملے میں آپ ہماری کفایت کر و، چنانچہ میں نے اور میرے ساتھیوں نے مل کر مینڈھے کو پکڑا، اسے ذبح کیا، اس کی کھال اتاری اور اسے پکانے لگے، اس طرح روٹی ا

Sayyidana Rabia Aslami (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se marvi hai ki main Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ki khidmat kiya karta tha ek din Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne mujhse farmaya: Rabia! tum shadi kyon nahin kar lete? maine arz kiya: Ya Rasul Allah!! Wallahi main to shadi nahin karna chahta kyunki ek to mere pas itna nahin hai ki aurat ki zaruriyat puri ho sakin aur dusri baat yah bhi hai ki mujhe yah baat pasand nahin hai ki koi cheez mujhe aapse door kar de, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne yah sunkar mujhse iraz farma liya aur main aap ki khidmat karta raha. Kuchh arsa baad Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne dobara mujhse yahi farmaya ki Rabia! tum shadi kyon nahin kar lete? maine hasb sabiq wahi jawab de diya lekin phir main apne dil mein sochne laga ki mujhse ziada Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) jante hain ki duniya o akhirat mein mere liye kya cheez behtar hai, is liye ab agar Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne dobara farmaya: to main kah dunga theek hai ya Rasul Allah!! aap mujhe jo chahen hukm den. Chunanche jab teesri martaba Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne mujhse farmaya ki Rabia tum shadi kyon nahin kar lete? to maine arz kiya: kyon nahin! aap mujhe jo chahen hukm dijiye, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne Ansar ke ek qabile ka naam lekar jinke sath Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ka ta'lluq tha, farmaya: unke pas chale jao aur ja kar kaho ki Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne mujhe aap logon ke pas bheja hai aur yah hukm diya hai ki aap log falan aurat ke sath mera nikah kar den. Chunanche main unke pas chala gaya aur unhen Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ka yah paigham suna diya, unhonne mujhe khush aamadid kaha aur kahne lage ki Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ka qasid apna kaam mukammal kiye baghair nahin jayega, chunanche unhonne us aurat ke sath mera nikah kar diya aur mere sath khoob mehrbani ke sath pesh aaye aur mujhse gawahon ka bhi mutalba na kiya, wahan se laut kar main Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ki khidmat mein ghamgin ho kar hazir hua, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne pucha: Rabia! tumhen kya hua? maine arz kiya: Ya Rasul Allah!! main ek sharif qaum ke pas pahuncha, unhonne mera nikah karadiya mera aakram kiya aur mehrbani se pesh aaye aur mujhse gawahon ka bhi mutalba nahin kiya (aise sharif logon ki aurat ko dene ke liye) mere pas mehr bhi nahin hai, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne Sayyidana Buraidah se farmaya: aye Buraidah Aslami! iske liye khajoor ki Guthli ke barabar sona jama kar lo, unhonne use jama kiya aur main woh lekar Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ki khidmat mein hazir hua, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: yah sona un logon ke pas le jao aur unse kaho ki yah is ladki ka mehr hai, chunanche maine unke pas pahunch kar yahi kah diya ki yah iska mehr hai, unhonne razamandi se use qubool kar liya aur kahne lage ki bahut hai aur pakiza (halal) hai. Thori der baad main phir Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke pas ghamgin ho kar wapas aagaya, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne pucha: Rabia! ab kyon ghamgin ho? maine arz kiya: Ya Rasul Allah!! maine un logon se ziada sharif log kahin nahin dekhe, maine unhen jo de diya, woh usi par razi ho gaye aur tahseen karte hue kahne lage ki bahut hai aur pakiza (halal) hai, aise logon ko dawat-e-walima khilane ke liye mere pas kuchh nahin hai to Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne phir Sayyidana Buraidah se farmaya ki iske liye ek bakri lao, chunanche woh ek nihayat sihatmand aur bahut bada mendha lekar aaye, phir Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne mujhse farmaya ki Ayesha ke pas jao aur unse kaho ki woh thaili de den jis mein ghala rakha hua hai, chunanche maine unke pas ja kar Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ka paigham pahuncha diya, unhonne farmaya ki yah thaili hai, is mein nau saa'n jau hai aur bakhuda! iske alawa humare pas kuchh nahin hai, yahi le jao, chunanche main woh thaili lekar Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke pas aaya aur Sayyidana Ayesha ka paigham pahuncha diya. Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: yah donon cheezen un logon ke pas le jao aur unse kaho ki iski rotiyan banalen, chunanche main unke pas chala gaya aur woh mendha bhi sath le gaya, mere sath qabila Aslam ke kuchh log the wahan pahunch kar un logon se kaha ki is aate ki rotiyan pakalen aur is mendhe ka gosht paka len, woh kahne lage ki rotiyon ke mamle mein hum aap ki kafaayat kar lenge aur mendhe ke mamle mein aap hamari kafaayat kar lo, chunanche maine aur mere saathiyon ne mil kar mendhe ko pakda, use zabb kiya, uski khal utari aur use pakane lage, is tarah roti a.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النَّضْرِ هَاشِمُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا الْمُبَارَكُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ فَضَالَةَ ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عِمْرَانَ الْجَوْنِيُّ ، عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ الْأَسْلَمِيِّ ، قَالَ: كُنْتُ أَخْدُمُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ لي:" يَا رَبِيعَةُ، أَلَا تَزَوَّجُ؟"، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: وَاللَّهِ لا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، مَا أُرِيدُ أَنْ أَتَزَوَّجَ، مَا عِنْدِي مَا يُقِيمُ الْمَرْأَةَ، وَمَا أُحِبُّ أَنْ يَشْغَلَنِي عَنْكَ شَيْءٌ، فَأَعْرَضَ عَنِّي، فَخَدَمْتُهُ مَا خَدَمْتُهُ، ثُمَّ قَالَ لِي الثَّانِيَةَ:" يَا رَبِيعَةُ، أَلَا تَزَوَّجُ؟"، فَقُلْتُ: مَا أُرِيدُ أَنْ أَتَزَوَّجَ، مَا عِنْدِي مَا يُقِيمُ الْمَرْأَةَ، وَمَا أُحِبُّ أَنْ يَشْغَلَنِي عَنْكَ شَيْءٌ، فَأَعْرَضَ عَنِّي، ثُمَّ رَجَعْتُ إِلَى نَفْسِي، فَقُلْتُ: وَاللَّهِ لَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمَا يُصْلِحُنِي فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ أَعْلَمُ مِنِّي، وَاللَّهِ لَئِنْ، قَالَ: تَزَوَّجْ، لَأَقُولَنَّ: نَعَمْ، يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، مُرْنِي بِمَا شِئْتَ، قَالَ: فَقَالَ:" يَا رَبِيعَةُ، أَلَا تَزَوَّجُ؟"، فَقُلْتُ: بَلَى، مُرْنِي بِمَا شِئْتَ، قَالَ:" انْطَلِقْ إِلَى آلِ فُلَانٍ" حَيٍّ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ، وَكَانَ فِيهِمْ تَرَاخٍي عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:" فَقُلْ لَهُمْ: إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَرْسَلَنِي إِلَيْكُمْ يَأْمُرُكُمْ أَنْ تُزَوِّجُونِي فُلَانَةَ" لِامْرَأَةٍ مِنْهُمْ، فَذَهَبْتُ، فَقُلْتُ لَهُمْ: إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَرْسَلَنِي إِلَيْكُمْ يَأْمُرُكُمْ أَنْ تُزَوِّجُونِي فُلَانَةَ، فَقَالُوا: مَرْحَبًا بِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ، وَبِرَسُولِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَاللَّهِ لَا يَرْجِعُ رَسُولُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَّا بِحَاجَتِهِ فَزَوَّجُونِي وَأَلْطَفُونِي، وَمَا سَأَلُونِي الْبَيِّنَةَ، فَرَجَعْتُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَزِينًا، فَقَالَ لِي:" مَا لَكَ يَا رَبِيعَةُ؟"، فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، أَتَيْتُ قَوْمًا كِرَامًا، فَزَوَّجُونِي وَأَكْرَمُونِي وَأَلْطَفُونِي، وَمَا سَأَلُونِي بَيِّنَةً، وَلَيْسَ عِنْدِي صَدَاقٌ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:" يَا بُرَيْدَةُ الْأَسْلَمِيَّ، اجْمَعُوا لَهُ وَزْنَ نَوَاةٍ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ"، قَالَ: فَجَمَعُوا لِي وَزْنَ نَوَاةٍ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ، فَأَخَذْتُ مَا جَمَعُوا لِي، فَأَتَيْتُ بِهِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ:" اذْهَبْ بِهَذَا إِلَيْهِمْ، فَقُلْ: هَذَا صَدَاقُهَا"، فَأَتَيْتُهُمْ، فَقُلْتُ: هَذَا صَدَاقُهَا، فَرَضُوهُ وَقَبِلُوهُ، وَقَالُوا: كَثِيرٌ طَيِّبٌ، قَالَ: ثُمَّ رَجَعْتُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَزِينًا، فَقَالَ:" يَا رَبِيعَةُ، مَا لَكَ حَزِينًا"، فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، مَا رَأَيْتُ قَوْمًا أَكْرَمَ مِنْهُمْ، رَضُوا بِمَا آتَيْتُهُمْ وَأَحْسَنُوا، وَقَالُوا: كَثِيرًا طَيِّبًا وَلَيْسَ عِنْدِي مَا أُولِمُ، قَالَ:" يَا بُرَيْدَةُ، اجْمَعُوا لَهُ شَاةً"، قَالَ: فَجَمَعُوا لِي كَبْشًا عَظِيمًا سَمِينًا، فَقَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:" اذْهَبْ إِلَى عَائِشَةَ فَقُلْ لَهَا فَلْتَبْعَثْ بِالْمِكْتَلِ الَّذِي فِيهِ الطَّعَامُ"، قَالَ: فَأَتَيْتُهَا، فَقُلْتُ لَهَا مَا أَمَرَنِي بِهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَتْ: هَذَا الْمِكْتَلُ فِيهِ تِسْعُ آصُعِ شَعِيرٍ، لَا وَاللَّهِ إِنْ أَصْبَحَ لَنَا طَعَامٌ غَيْرُهُ، خُذْهُ، فَأَخَذْتُهُ، فَأَتَيْتُ بِهِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَأَخْبَرْتُهُ مَا قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ، فَقَالَ:" اذْهَبْ بِهَذَا إِلَيْهِمْ، فَقُلْ: لِيُصْبِحْ هَذَا عِنْدَكُمْ خُبْزًا" فَذَهَبْتُ إِلَيْهِمْ، وَذَهَبْتُ بِالْكَبْشِ، وَمَعِي أُنَاسٌ مِنْ أَسْلَمَ، فَقَالَ: لِيُصْبِحْ هَذَا عِنْدَكُمْ خُبْزًا وَهَذَا طَبِيخًا، فَقَالُوا: أَمَّا الْخُبْزُ فَسَنَكْفِيكُمُوهُ، وَأَمَّا الْكَبْشُ فَاكْفُونَا أَنْتُمْ، فَأَخَذْنَا الْكَبْشَ أَنَا وَأُنَاسٌ مِنْ أَسْلَمَ، فَذَبَحْنَاهُ، وَسَلَخْنَاهُ، وَطَبَخْنَاهُ، فَأَصْبَحَ عِنْدَنَا خُبْزٌ وَلَحْمٌ، فَأَوْلَمْتُ وَدَعَوْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَعْطَانِي بعد ذلك أَرْضًا، وَأَعْطَانِي أَبُو بَكْرٍ أَرْضًا وَجَاءَتْ الدُّنْيَا، فَاخْتَلَفْنَا فِي عِذْقِ نَخْلَةٍ، فَقُلْتُ: أَنَا هِيَ فِي حَدِّي، وَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ: هِيَ فِي حَدِّي، فَكَانَ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ كَلَامٌ، فَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ: كَلِمَةً كَرِهَهَا وَنَدِمَ، فَقَالَ لِي: يَا رَبِيعَةُ، رُدَّ عَلَيَّ مِثْلَهَا حَتَّى تَكُونَ قِصَاصًا، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: لَا أَفْعَلُ، فَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ: لَتَقُولَنَّ أَوْ لَأَسْتَعْدِيَنَّ عَلَيْكَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقُلْتُ: مَا أَنَا بِفَاعِلٍ، قَالَ: وَرَفَضَ الْأَرْضَ، وَانْطَلَقَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَانْطَلَقْتُ أَتْلُوهُ، فَجَاءَ نَاسٌ مِنْ أَسْلَمَ، فَقَالُوا لِي: رَحِمَ اللَّهُ أَبَا بَكْرٍ، فِي أَيِّ شَيْءٍ يَسْتَعْدِي عَلَيْكَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَهُوَ قَالَ لَكَ مَا قَالَ؟، فَقُلْتُ: أَتَدْرُونَ مَا هَذَا؟ هَذَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقُ، هَذَا ثَانِيَ اثْنَيْنِ، وَهَذَا ذُو شَيْبَةِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ، إِيَّاكُمْ لَا يَلْتَفِتْ فَيَرَاكُمْ تَنْصُرُونِي عَلَيْهِ فَيَغْضَبَ، فَيَأْتِيَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَيَغْضَبَ لِغَضَبِهِ، فَيَغْضَبَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لِغَضَبِهِمَا، فَيُهْلِكَ رَبِيعَةَ، قَالُوا: مَا تَأْمُرُنَا؟، قَالَ: ارْجِعُوا، قَالَ: فَانْطَلَقَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَتَبِعْتُهُ وَحْدِي حَتَّى أَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَحَدَّثَهُ الْحَدِيثَ كَمَا كَانَ، فَرَفَعَ إِلَيَّ رَأْسَهُ، فَقَالَ:" يَا رَبِيعَةُ، مَا لَكَ وَلِلصِّدِّيقِ؟"، قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، كَانَ كَذَا كَانَ كَذَا، قَالَ لِي: كَلِمَةً كَرِهَهَا، فَقَالَ لِي: قُلْ كَمَا قُلْتُ حَتَّى يَكُونَ قِصَاصًا، فَأَبَيْتُ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:" أَجَلْ، فَلَا تَرُدَّ عَلَيْهِ، وَلَكِنْ قُلْ غَفَرَ اللَّهُ لَكَ يَا أَبَا بَكْرٍ"، فَقُلْتُ: غَفَرَ اللَّهُ لَكَ يَا أَبَا بَكْرٍ، قَالَ الْحَسَنُ: فَوَلَّى أَبُو بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ وَهُوَ يَبْكِي.

It is narrated on the authority of Sayyidina Rabiah bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to me, "Ask, I will grant you." I said, "O Messenger of Allah! Give me some time to think." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Think it over." I thought that the life of this world will eventually end, so I did not find anything better for myself than the Hereafter. So, I went to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked, "What do you need?" I said, "O Messenger of Allah! Please ask your Lord to grant me freedom from Hellfire." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked, "Who told you this?" I submitted, "O Messenger of Allah! By Allah, no one told me this. Rather, I myself pondered over my situation that this world is eventually taken away even from its people. So I thought I should ask for the Hereafter." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Then help me by prostrating frequently."

سیدنا ربیعہ بن کعب رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ نبی ﷺ نے مجھ سے فرمایا: مانگو، میں تمہیں عطاء کر وں گا، میں نے عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ!! مجھے کچھ سوچنے کی مہلت دیجئے، نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا: تم سوچ بچار کر لو، میں نے سوچا کہ دنیا کی زندگی تو گزر ہی جائے گی، لہذا آخرت سے بہتر مجھے اپنے لئے کوئی چیز محسوس نہ ہوئی، چنانچہ میں نبی ﷺ کی خدمت میں حاضر ہو گیا، نبی ﷺ نے پوچھا: تمہاری کیا ضرورت ہے؟ میں نے عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ!! اپنے پروردگار سے سفارش کر دیجئے کہ وہ مجھے جہنم سے آزادی کا پروانہ عطاء کر دے، نبی ﷺ نے پوچھا: تمہیں یہ بات کس نے بتائی؟ میں نے عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ!! اللہ کی قسم! مجھے یہ بات کسی نے نہیں سمجھائی، بلکہ میں نے خود ہی اپنے معاملے میں غور و فکر کیا کہ دنیا تو دنیا والوں سے بھی چھن جاتی ہے لہذا میں نے سوچا کہ آخرت کے لئے درخواست پیش کر دیتا ہوں، نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا: تو پھر سجدوں کی کثرت کے ساتھ میری مدد کر و۔

Sayyidna Rabia bin Kaab Radi Allaho Anho se marvi hai ki aik martaba Nabi Sallallaho Alaihi Wasallam ne mujhse farmaya: maango, mein tumhein ataa karun ga, mein ne arz kiya: Ya Rasulullah!! mujhe kuch sochne ki muhlat dijiye, Nabi Sallallaho Alaihi Wasallam ne farmaya: tum soch vichar kar lo, mein ne socha ki duniya ki zindagi to guzar hi jayegi, lihaza aakhirat se behtar mujhe apne liye koi cheez mehsoos na hui, chunancha mein Nabi Sallallaho Alaihi Wasallam ki khidmat mein hazir ho gaya, Nabi Sallallaho Alaihi Wasallam ne pucha: tumhari kya zaroorat hai? mein ne arz kiya: Ya Rasulullah!! apne parvardigaar se sifarish kar dijiye ki woh mujhe jahannum se azadi ka parwana ataa kar de, Nabi Sallallaho Alaihi Wasallam ne pucha: tumhein ye baat kis ne batai? mein ne arz kiya: Ya Rasulullah!! Allah ki qasam! mujhe ye baat kisi ne nahi samjhai, balki mein ne khud hi apne mamle mein ghor o fikr kiya ki duniya to duniya walon se bhi chhin jati hai lihaza mein ne socha ki aakhirat ke liye darkhwast pesh kar deta hun, Nabi Sallallaho Alaihi Wasallam ne farmaya: to phir sajdon ki kasrat ke saath meri madad kar do.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنْ نُعَيْمٍ بن مُجْمِرِ ، عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ كَعْبٍ ، قَالَ: قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:" سَلْنِي أُعْطِكَ"، قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، أَنْظِرْنِي أَنْظُرْ فِي أَمْرِي، قَالَ:" فَانْظُرْ فِي أَمْرِكَ"، قَالَ: فَنَظَرْتُ، فَقُلْتُ: إِنَّ أَمْرَ الدُّنْيَا يَنْقَطِعُ، فَلَا أَرَى شَيْئًا خَيْرًا مِنْ شَيْءٍ آخُذُهُ لِنَفْسِي لِآخِرَتِي، فَدَخَلْتُ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ:" مَا حَاجَتُكَ"، فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، اشْفَعْ لِي إِلَى رَبِّكَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ، فَلْيُعْتِقْنِي مِنَ النَّارِ، فَقَالَ:" مَنْ أَمَرَكَ بِهَذَا؟"، فَقُلْتُ: لَا وَاللَّهِ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، مَا أَمَرَنِي بِهِ أَحَدٌ، وَلَكِنِّي نَظَرْتُ فِي أَمْرِي، فَرَأَيْتُ أَنَّ الدُّنْيَا زَائِلَةٌ مِنْ أَهْلِهَا، فَأَحْبَبْتُ أَنْ آخُذَ لِآخِرَتِي، قَالَ:" فَأَعِنِّي عَلَى نَفْسِكَ بِكَثْرَةِ السُّجُودِ".

Narrated by Sayyiduna Rabee’ah bin Ka’b (may Allah be pleased with him): I used to serve the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and stay busy in his work all day. When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would finish the Isha prayer and go to his house, I would sit at his door, thinking that he might need something. I would hear the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) continuously reciting "Subhan Allah wa bi hamdihi" until I would get tired and return or fall asleep due to exhaustion. Once, seeing my service and exhaustion, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to me, "Ask, I will grant you." I said, "O Messenger of Allah! Give me some time to think." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Think it over." I thought that the life of this world will eventually pass away, so nothing seemed better for me than the Hereafter. Therefore, I went back to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). He asked, "What do you need?" I said, "O Messenger of Allah! Please pray to your Lord that He may grant me freedom from Hellfire." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked, "Who told you about this?" I said, "O Messenger of Allah! By Allah, no one has taught me this. I myself pondered over my situation, and as the world eventually departs from its people, I thought I should request for the Hereafter." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Then help me in this matter by offering abundant prostrations.”

Sayyidna Rabia bin Kaab (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se marvi hai keh main Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ki khidmat kya karta tha aur sara din un ke kaam kaaj mein laga rehta tha, jab Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) namaz isha padh lete aur apne ghar mein chale jate to main un ke darwaze par baith jata aur yeh sochta keh ho sakta hai Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ko koi kaam pad jaye, main Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ko musalsal Subhan Allahi Wa bi Hamdihi kehte hue sunta, hatta keh thak kar wapas a jata ya neend se maglub ho kar so jata, ek martaba Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne meri khidmat aur apne aap ko halakan karne ko dekh kar mujhse farmaya: maango, main tumhen ataa karun ga, maine arz kiya: Ya Rasul Allah!! mujhe kuchh sochne ki muhlat dijiye, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: tum soch bichar kar lo, maine socha keh duniya ki zindagi to guzar hi jayegi, lihaza aakhirat se behtar mujhe apne liye koi cheez mehsoos na hui, chunancha main Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ki khidmat mein hazir ho gaya, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne puchha: tumhari kya zaroorat hai? maine arz kiya: Ya Rasul Allah!! apne parvardigaar se sifarish kar dijiye keh woh mujhe jahannam se aazadi ka parwana ataa kar de, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne puchha: tumhen yeh baat kisne batai? maine arz kiya: Ya Rasul Allah!! Allah ki qasam! mujhe yeh baat kisi ne nahin samjhai, balkeh maine khud hi apne mamle mein ghaur o fikr kiya keh duniya to duniya walon se bhi chhin jati hai lihaza maine socha keh aakhirat ke liye darkhwast pesh kar deta hun, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: to phir sajdon ki kasrat ke sath meri madad kar lo.

حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنْ نُعَيْمٍ بن مُجْمِرِ ، عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ كَعْبٍ ، قَالَ: كُنْتُ أَخْدُمُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَأَقُومُ لَهُ فِي حَوَائِجِهِ نَهَارِي أَجْمَعَ، حَتَّى يُصَلِّيَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْعِشَاءَ الْآخِرَةَ، فَأَجْلِسُ بِبَابِهِ إِذَا دَخَلَ بَيْتَهُ أَقُولُ: لَعَلَّهَا أَنْ تَحْدُثَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَاجَةٌ، فَمَا أَزَالُ أَسْمَعُهُ يَقُولُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:" سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ، سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ، سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَبِحَمْدِهِ" حَتَّى أَمَلَّ، فَأَرْجِعَ أَوْ تَغْلِبَنِي عَيْنِي، فَأَرْقُدَ، قَالَ: فَقَالَ لِي يَوْمًا: لِمَا يَرَى مِنْ خِفَّتِي لَهُ، وَخِدْمَتِي إِيَّاهُ" سَلْنِي يَا رَبِيعَةُ أُعْطِكَ"، قَالَ: فَقُلْتُ: أَنْظُرُ فِي أَمْرِي يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، ثُمَّ أُعْلِمُكَ ذَلِكَ، قَالَ: فَفَكَّرْتُ فِي نَفْسِي، فَعَرَفْتُ أَنَّ الدُّنْيَا مُنْقَطِعَةٌ وزَائِلَةٌ، وَأَنَّ لِي فِيهَا رِزْقًا سَيَكْفِينِي وَيَأْتِينِي، قَالَ: فَقُلْتُ: أَسْأَلُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِآخِرَتِي، فَإِنَّهُ مِنَ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ بِالْمَنْزِلِ الَّذِي هُوَ بِهِ، قَالَ: فَجِئْتُهُ، فَقَالَ:" مَا فَعَلْتَ يَا رَبِيعَةُ؟"، قَالَ: فَقُلْتُ: نَعَمْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، أَسْأَلُكَ أَنْ تَشْفَعَ لِي إِلَى رَبِّكَ، فَيُعْتِقَنِي مِنَ النَّارِ، قَالَ: فَقَالَ:" مَنْ أَمَرَكَ بِهَذَا يَا رَبِيعَةُ؟"، قَالَ: فَقُلْتُ: لَا وَاللَّهِ الَّذِي بَعَثَكِ بِالْحَقِّ، مَا أَمَرَنِي بِهِ أَحَدٌ، وَلَكِنَّكَ لَمَّا قُلْتَ: سَلْنِي أُعْطِكَ، وَكُنْتَ مِنَ اللَّهِ بِالْمَنْزِلِ الَّذِي أَنْتَ بِهِ، نَظَرْتُ فِي أَمْرِي وَعَرَفْتُ أَنَّ الدُّنْيَا مُنْقَطِعَةٌ وَزَائِلَةٌ، وَأَنَّ لِي فِيهَا رِزْقًا سَيَأْتِينِي، فَقُلْتُ: أَسْأَلُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِآخِرَتِي، قَالَ: فَصَمَتَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ طَوِيلًا، ثُمَّ قَالَ لِي:" إِنِّي فَاعِلٌ، فَأَعِنِّي عَلَى نَفْسِكَ بِكَثْرَةِ السُّجُودِ".
