The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 2830

'Ikrimah (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) did not consider it appropriate to eat unripe dates and he said: 'The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade the delegation of Banu Thaqif from (consuming) "Mazā'." I fear that it might refer to unripe dates."

عکرمہ رحمہ اللہ کہتے ہیں کہ سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما صرف کچی کھجور کھانے کو اچھا نہیں سمجھتے تھے اور فرماتے تھے کہ نبی ﷺ نے بنوالقیس کے وفد کو ”مزاء“ سے منع کیا ہے، مجھے اندیشہ ہے کہ کہیں اس سے مراد کچی کھجور ہی نہ ہو۔

Akarma rahmatullah alaih kahte hain ki sayyidna Ibn Abbas radi allaho anhuma sirf kachi khajoor khane ko achcha nahin samjhte the aur farmate the ki Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne Banu Qais ke wafd ko "mizaa" se mana kiya hai, mujhe andesha hai ki kahin is se murad kachi khajoor hi na ho.

حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ ، أَخْبَرَنَا قَتَادَةُ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ كَانَ يَكْرَهُ الْبُسْرَ وَحْدَهُ، وَيَقُولُ:" نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَفْدَ عَبْدِ الْقَيْسِ عَنِ الْمُزَّاءِ، فَأَرْهَبُ أَنْ تَكُونَ الْبُسْرَ".
