Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 312
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyidna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that once, while Sayyidna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) was delivering the Friday sermon, a man arrived. Sayyidna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) asked him, "What time is this to come?" He replied, "O Amir al-Mu'minin! I have just returned from the market, and as soon as I heard the Adhan, I made Wudu and came." Sayyidna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Only Wudu, even though you know that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) commanded to take a bath for Friday?"

سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے روایت ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ جمعہ کے دن خطبہ ارشاد فرما رہے تھے، دوران خطبہ ایک صاحب آئے، سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے ان سے پوچھا کہ یہ کون سا وقت ہے آنے کا؟ انہوں نے جواباً کہا کہ امیرالمومنین! میں بازار سے واپس آیا تھا، میں نے تو جیسے ہی اذان سنی، وضو کرتے ہی آ گیا ہوں، سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے فرمایا: اوپر سے وضو بھی؟ جبکہ آپ جانتے ہیں کہ نبی ﷺ جمعہ کے لئے غسل کرنے کا حکم دیتے تھے۔

حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ : أَنَّ رَجُلًا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ دَخَلَ الْمَسْجِدَ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ، وَعُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ قَائِمٌ يَخْطُبُ، فَقَالَ عُمَرُ: أَيَّةُ سَاعَةٍ هَذِهِ؟ فَقَالَ: يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ، انْقَلَبْتُ مِنَ السُّوقِ فَسَمِعْتُ النِّدَاءَ، فَمَا زِدْتُ عَلَى أَنْ تَوَضَّأْتُ، فَأَقْبَلْتُ، فَقَالَ عُمَرُ : الْوُضُوءُ أَيْضًا! وَقَدْ عَلِمْتَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَأْمُرُنَا بِالْغُسْلِ.
