Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 5546
Abu Ja'far Muhammad ibn 'Ali, may Allah have mercy on him, said: "Whenever Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with him and his father, would hear something from the Prophet, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him, or be present on an occasion, he would never add or subtract anything (while narrating it)." Once, Ubayd ibn Umair, may Allah be pleased with him, was narrating something. Sayyiduna Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with him and his father, was also present there. Ubayd ibn Umair started saying, "The Messenger of Allah, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him, said: 'The example of a hypocrite is like that of a female goat who is between two distant flocks. If it goes to one flock, they butt it with their horns and chase it away, and if it goes to the other flock, they also butt it with their horns and chase it away." Sayyiduna Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with him and his father, said, "The Hadith is not like this." Ubayd ibn Umair felt offended. Abdullah ibn Safwan was also present in that gathering. He said, "O Abu Abdur Rahman! May Allah's mercy be upon you. How did the Prophet, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him, say it?" Sayyiduna Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with him and his father, narrated the aforementioned Hadith again and instead of the word "ghanam" (flocks), he used the word "rabidhayn" (two resting places). Abdullah said, "May Allah have mercy on you! Both of them mean the same thing." Sayyiduna Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with him and his father, said, "This is how I heard the Prophet, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him, saying it."

ابوجعفر محمد بن علی رحمہ اللہ کہتے ہیں سیدنا عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما جب کوئی بات نبی ﷺ سے سن لیتے یا کسی موقع پر موجود ہوتے تو اس میں (بیان کرتے ہوئے) کمی بیشی بالکل نہیں کرتے تھے کہ ایک مرتبہ عبید بن عمیر رضی اللہ عنہ کہہ رہے تھے سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما بھی وہاں تشریف فرما تھے، عبید بن عمیر کہنے لگے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے ارشاد فرمایا: ”منافق کی مثال اس بکر ی کی سی ہے جو دور ریوڑوں کے درمیان ہو، اس ریوڑ کے پاس جائے تو وہاں کی بکریاں اسے سینگ مار مار کر بھگا دیں اور اس ریوڑ کے پاس جائے تو وہاں کی بکریاں اسے سینگ مار مار کر بھگا دیں، سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہ کہنے لگے کہ یہ حدیث اس طرح نہیں ہے اس پر عبید بن عمر کو ناگواری ہوئی، اس مجلس میں عبداللہ بن صفوان بھی تھے، وہ کہنے لگے کہ اے ابو عبدالرحمن! آپ پر اللہ کی رحمتیں نازل ہوں، نبی ﷺ نے کس طرح فرمایا تھا سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما نے مذکورہ حدیث دوبارہ سنا دی اور اس میں «غنمين» کے بجائے «ربيضين» کا لفظ استعمال کیا تو عبداللہ نے کہا کہ اللہ آپ پر رحم فرمائے اس دونوں کا مطلب تو ایک ہی ہے سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما نے فرمایا کہ میں نے نبی ﷺ کو اسی طرح فرماتے ہوئے سنا ہے۔
Abu Jafar Muhammad bin Ali rehmatullah alaih kahte hain Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar razi Allah anhuma jab koi baat Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) se sun lete ya kisi mauqe par maujood hote to usme (bayan karte hue) kami beshi bilkul nahin karte the ke ek martaba Ubaid bin Umair razi Allah anhu kah rahe the Sayyiduna Ibn Umar razi Allah anhuma bhi wahan tashreef farma the, Ubaid bin Umair kahne lage ke Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne irshad farmaya: "Munafiq ki misaal us bakri ki si hai jo door reydon ke darmiyaan ho, is reyd ke paas jaye to wahan ki bakriyan use sing maar maar kar bhaga dein aur is reyd ke paas jaye to wahan ki bakriyan use sing maar maar kar bhaga dein, Sayyiduna Ibn Umar razi Allah anhu kahne lage ke ye hadees is tarah nahin hai is par Ubaid bin Umar ko nagawari hui, is majlis mein Abdullah bin Safwan bhi the, wo kahne lage ke aye Abu Abdur Rahman! Aap par Allah ki rehmaten nazil hon, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne kis tarah farmaya tha Sayyiduna Ibn Umar razi Allah anhuma ne mazkura hadees dobara suna di aur usme «ghanmain» ke bajaye «rabizein» ka lafz istemaal kiya to Abdullah ne kaha ke Allah aap par reham farmaye is donon ka matlab to ek hi hai Sayyiduna Ibn Umar razi Allah anhuma ne farmaya ke maine Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ko isi tarah farmate hue suna hai.
حَدَّثَنَا مُصْعَبُ بْنُ سَلَّامٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سُوقَةَ ، سَمِعْتُ أَبَا جَعْفَرٍ ، يَقُولُ: كَانَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ إِذَا سَمِعَ مِنْ نَبِيِّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ شَيْئًا، أَوْ شَهِدَ مَعَهُ مَشْهَدًا، لَمْ يُقَصِّرْ دُونَهُ أَوْ يَعْدُوهُ، قَالَ: فَبَيْنَمَا هُوَ جَالِسٌ وَعُبَيْدُ بْنُ عُمَيْرٍ يقص على أهل مكة، إذ قَالَ عُبَيْدُ بْنُ عُمَيْرٍ مَثَلُ الْمُنَافِقِ كَمَثَلِ الشَّاةِ بَيْنَ الْغَنَمَيْنِ، إِنْ أَقْبَلَتْ إِلَى هَذِهِ الْغَنَمِ نَطَحَتْهَا، وَإِنْ أَقْبَلَتْ إِلَى هَذِهِ نَطَحَتْهَا، فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ : لَيْسَ هَكَذَا، فَغَضِبَ عُبَيْدُ بْنُ عُمَيْرٍ، وَفِي الْمَجْلِسِ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ صَفْوَانَ، فَقَالَ: يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، كَيْفَ قَالَ رَحِمَكَ اللَّهُ؟ فَقَالَ:" مَثَلُ الْمُنَافِقِ مَثَلُ الشَّاةِ بَيْنَ الرَّبِيضَيْنِ، إِنْ أَقْبَلَتْ إِلَى ذَا الرَّبِيضِ نَطَحَتْهَا، وَإِنْ أَقْبَلَتْ إِلَى ذَا الرَّبِيضِ نَطَحَتْهَا"، فَقَالَ لَهُ: رَحِمَكَ اللَّهُ، هُمَا وَاحِدٌ، قَالَ: كَذَا سَمِعْتُ، كذا سمعتُ.
