Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 5806
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyidna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “When food is placed before any one of you and the prayer begins, he should eat his food first.” The narrator says that once Sayyidna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) continued to eat his food despite hearing the Imam reciting (the Quran in prayer).

سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ نبی ﷺ نے ارشاد فرمایا: ”جب تم میں سے کسی کے سامنے کھانا لا کر رکھ دیا جائے اور نماز کھڑی ہو جائے تو پہلے کھانا کھا لیا کرو۔“ راوی کہتے ہیں کہ ایک مرتبہ سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما امام کی قرأت کی آواز سننے کے باوجود کھانا کھاتے رہے تھے۔

حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ:" إِذَا وُضِعَ الْعَشَاءُ وَأُقِيمَتْ الصَّلَاةُ، فَابْدَءُوا بِالْعَشَاءِ"، قَالَ: وَلَقَدْ تَعَشَّى ابْنُ عُمَرَ مَرَّةً وَهُوَ يَسْمَعُ قِرَاءَةَ الْإِمَامِ.
