Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 5826
'Abdur Rahman bin Sa'd (may Allah have mercy on him) said, "I have seen Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) offering the supererogatory prayer while riding, facing whatever direction he was facing. I once asked him about it, and he said, 'The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to do the same.'"

عبدالرحمن بن سعد رحمہ اللہ کہتے ہیں کہ انہوں نے سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما کو دیکھا ہے کہ وہ سواری پر نفل نماز پڑھ لیا کرتے تھے خواہ اس کا رخ کسی بھی سمت ہو، انہوں نے ایک مرتبہ ان سے اس کے متعلق پوچھا تو وہ فرمانے لگے کہ نبی ﷺ بھی اسی طرح کرتے تھے۔

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا هِشَامٌ ، عَنْ حَمَّادٍ , عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ مَوْلَى عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ , أَنَّهُ أَبْصَرَ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ :" يُصَلِّي عَلَى رَاحِلَتِهِ لِغَيْرِ الْقِبْلَةِ تَطَوُّعًا"، فَقَالَ: مَا هَذَا يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ؟ قَالَ: كَانَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَفْعَلُهُ.
