Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 5856
Yahya bin Ya'mar narrates that once we met Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), I said to him that there are some people among us who say that matters are in their control, if they wish, they may act, and if they wish, they may not. Hearing our statement, he said that when you return to these people, tell them that I am free from them and they are free from me. After saying this, he narrated this tradition that once, Gabriel (peace be upon him) appeared in the court of Prophethood and asked: O Muhammad! What is "Islam"? The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Worship Allah alone, associating no partners with Him, establish prayer, pay Zakat, fast Ramadan and perform Hajj to the House of Allah." He said, after doing all this, will I be called a "Muslim"? The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Yes!" He said, you have spoken the truth. Then he asked, what is the definition of "Ihsan" (excellence in faith)? The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Worship Allah as if you are seeing Him, and if you cannot achieve this state, then know that He sees you." He said: After doing this, will I become a "Muhsin"? The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Yes!" He said, you have spoken the truth. Then he asked, what is the definition of "Imaan" (faith)? The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Believe in Allah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, the Day of Judgment, Paradise and Hell and in preordainment, both good and bad." He said: After doing this, will I be called a "Momin" (believer)? The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Yes!" He said, you have spoken the truth.

یحییٰ بن یعمر کہتے ہیں کہ ایک مرتبہ ہماری ملاقات سیدنا عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے ہوئی، میں نے ان سے عرض کیا کہ ہمارے یہاں کچھ لوگ ہیں جو یہ کہتے ہیں کہ معاملات ان کے اختیار میں ہیں، چاہیں تو عمل کر لیں اور چاہیں تو نہ کر یں، ہماری بات سن کر انہوں نے فرمایا کہ جب تم ان لوگوں کے پاس لوٹ کر جاؤ تو ان سے کہہ دینا کہ میں ان سے بری ہوں اور وہ مجھ سے بری ہیں، یہ بات کہہ کر انہوں نے یہ روایت سنائی کہ ایک مرتبہ سیدنا جبرائیل علیہ السلام بارگاہ نبوت میں حاضر ہوئے اور عرض کیا: اے محمد! ”اسلام“ کیا ہے؟ نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا:”اللہ کی عبادت کرو اس کے ساتھ کسی کو شریک نہ ٹھہراؤ نیز یہ کہ آپ نماز قائم کر یں، زکوٰۃ ادا کریں، رمضان کے روزے رکھیں اور حج بیت اللہ کریں۔“ اس نے کہا کہ جب میں یہ کام کر لوں تو میں ”مسلمان“کہلاؤں گا؟ نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”ہاں!“ اس نے کہا: آپ نے سچ فرمایا، پھر اس نے پوچھا کہ ”احسان“ کی تعریف کیا ہے؟ نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”تم اللہ سے اس طرح ڈرو کہ گویا تم اسے دیکھ رہے ہو، اگر یہ تصور نہ کر سکو تو پھر یہی تصور کر لو کہ وہ تمہیں دیکھ رہا ہے“، اس نے کہا: کیا ایسا کرنے کے بعد میں ”محسن“ بن جاؤں گا؟ نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”ہاں!“ اس نے کہا کہ آپ نے سچ فرمایا: پھر اس نے پوچھا کہ ”ایمان“ کی تعریف کیا ہے؟ نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”تم اللہ پر، اس کے فرشتوں، کتابوں، رسولوں، موت کے بعد دوبارہ زندگی، جنت و جہنم اور ہر تقدیر پر یقین رکھو“، اس نے کہا: کیا ایسا کر نے کے بعد میں مومن کہلاؤں گا؟ نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”ہاں!“اس نے کہا کہ آپ نے سچ فرمایا۔
Yahiya bin Yamr kahte hain ki aik martaba hamari mulaqat Sayyidna Abdullah bin Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se hui, maine un se arz kiya ki hamare yahan kuch log hain jo ye kahte hain ki mamlat un ke ikhtiyar mein hain, chahein to amal kar len aur chahein to na karen, hamari baat sunkar unhon ne farmaya ki jab tum in logon ke paas laut kar jao to un se keh dena ki main un se bari hun aur wo mujh se bari hain, ye baat keh kar unhon ne ye riwayat sunayi ki aik martaba Sayyidna Jibraeel Alaihissalam bargah e nabuwwat mein hazir hue aur arz kiya: Aye Muhammad! ”Islam“ kya hai? Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya:”Allah ki ibadat karo us ke sath kisi ko sharik na thehrau neez ye ki aap namaz qaim karen, zakat ada karen, Ramzan ke roze rakhen aur Hajj Baitullah karen.“ Us ne kaha ki jab main ye kaam kar lun to main ”Musalman“kehlaunga? Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: ”Haan!“ Us ne kaha: Aap ne sach farmaya, phir us ne puchha ki ”Ehsaan“ ki tareef kya hai? Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: ”Tum Allah se is tarah daro ki goya tum use dekh rahe ho, agar ye tasawwur na kar sako to phir yahi tasawwur kar lo ki wo tumhen dekh raha hai“, us ne kaha: Kya aisa karne ke baad main ”Mohsin“ ban jaunga? Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: ”Haan!“ Us ne kaha ki aap ne sach farmaya: phir us ne puchha ki ”Imaan“ ki tareef kya hai? Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: ”Tum Allah par, us ke rehston, kitabon, rasulon, mout ke baad dobara zindagi, Jannat o Jahannam aur har taqdeer par yaqeen rakho“, us ne kaha: Kya aisa kar ne ke baad main momin kehlauga? Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: ”Haan!“Us ne kaha ki aap ne sach farmaya.
رقم الحديث: 5698 حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ يَعْمَرَ , قُلْتُ: لِابْنِ عُمَرَ , إِنَّ عِنْدَنَا رِجَالًا يَزْعُمُونَ أَنَّ الْأَمْرَ بِأَيْدِيهِمْ، فَإِنْ شَاءُوا عَمِلُوا، وَإِنْ شَاءُوا لَمْ يَعْمَلُوا! فَقَالَ: أَخْبِرْهُمْ أَنِّي مِنْهُمْ بَرِيءٌ، وَأَنَّهُمْ مِنِّي بُرَآءُ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: جَاءَ جِبْرِيلُ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ:" يَا مُحَمَّدُ , مَا الْإِسْلَامُ؟ فَقَالَ: تَعْبُدُ اللَّهَ لَا تُشْرِكُ بِهِ شَيْئًا، وَتُقِيمُ الصَّلَاةَ، وَتُؤْتِي الزَّكَاةَ، وَتَصُومُ رَمَضَانَ، وَتَحُجُّ الْبَيْتَ، قَالَ: فَإِذَا فَعَلْتُ ذَلِكَ، فَأَنَا مُسْلِمٌ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، قَالَ: صَدَقْتَ، قَالَ: فَمَا الْإِحْسَانُ؟ قَالَ: تَخْشَى اللَّهَ تَعَالَى كَأَنَّكَ تَرَاهُ، فَإِنْ لَا تَكُ تَرَاهُ، فَإِنَّهُ يَرَاكَ، قَالَ: فَإِذَا فَعَلْتُ ذَلِكَ، فَأَنَا مُحْسِنٌ، قَالَ: نَعَمْ، قَالَ: صَدَقْتَ، قَالَ: فَمَا الْإِيمَانُ؟ قَالَ: تُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ، وَمَلَائِكَتِهِ، وَكُتُبِهِ، وَرُسُلِهِ، وَالْبَعْثِ مِنْ بَعْدِ الْمَوْتِ وَالْجَنَّةِ، وَالنَّارِ، وَالْقَدَرِ كُلِّهِ، قَالَ: فَإِذَا فَعَلْتُ ذَلِكَ، فَأَنَا مُؤْمِنٌ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، قَالَ: صَدَقْتَ".
