Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 5947
It is narrated on the authority of our master Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him and his father) that Sayyidina Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) submitted: “O Messenger of Allah! I want to give away my property in Thamgh as charity.” The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “Keep its origin with yourself and give its profit in charity.”

سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے عرض کیا، یا رسول اللہ! میں ثمغ نامی جگہ میں اپنے مال کو صدقہ کرنا چاہتا ہوں، نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”اس کی اصل تو اپنے پاس رکھ لو اور اس کے منافع کو صدقہ کر دو۔“
Sayyidna Ibn Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ke Sayyidna Umar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ne arz kiya, Ya Rasulullah! mein Thug naam ki jaga mein apne maal ko sadqa karna chahta hun, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: “Is ki asal to apne pass rakh lo aur is ke munafe ko sadqa kar do.”
حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ، قَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، إِنِّي أُرِيدُ أَنْ أَتَصَدَّقَ بِمَالِي بِثَمْغٍ، قَالَ:" احْبِسْ أَصْلَهُ، وَسَبِّلْ ثَمَرَتَهُ".
