Narrated Mughirah bin Shu'ba (RA): I saw the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) urinating, and then he came and performed ablution and wiped over his socks. He put his right hand on his right sock and his left hand on his left sock, then wiped over the upper part of both of them. I could almost see the fingers of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) on his socks.

(١٣٨٥) سیدنا مغیرہ بن شعبہ (رض) سے روایت ہے کہ میں نے رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کو دیکھا، آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے پیشاب کیا، پھر آکر وضو کیا اور موزوں پر مسح کیا اور دایاں ہاتھ دائیں موزے پر اور بایاں ہاتھ بائیں موزے پر رکھا، پھر دونوں کے اوپر والے حصہ پر مسح کیا، گویا میں رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے انگلیوں کو موزوں پر دیکھ رہا ہوں۔
1385 Saidina Mughira bin Shuba (RA) se riwayat hai ki maine Rasulullah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ko dekha, Aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne peshab kiya, phir aakar wazu kiya aur mozon par masah kiya aur dayan hath dayan moze par aur bayan hath bayen moze par rakha, phir donon ke upar wale hissa par masah kiya, goya main Rasulullah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ke ungliyon ko mozon par dekh raha hun.
Narrated by Sayyidina Ali (may Allah be pleased with him): If the religion were based on opinion, then wiping over the socks would have been more appropriate on the bottom than the top. However, I have seen the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) wiping over the top of the socks.

(١٣٨٦) سیدنا علی (رض) سے روایت ہے کہ اگر دین رائے سے ہوتا تو مسح موزے کے اوپر کی بجائے نیچے زیادہ مناسب ہوتا، جب کہ میں نے رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کو دیکھا، آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) موزوں کے اوپر والے حصے پر مسح کیا کرتے تھے۔
(1386) syedna ali (rz) se riwayat hai keh agar deen raaye se hota to masah mozon ke upar ki bajaye neeche zyada munasib hota, jab keh maine rasool allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ko dekha, aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) mozon ke upar wale hisse par masah kiya karte thay.
It is narrated by Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that if the religion were based on opinion, then wiping over the socks would have been more appropriate on the bottom than the top, but I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to wipe like this with his fingers (i.e., he showed it practically).

(١٣٨٧) سیدنا علی (رض) سے روایت ہے کہ اگر دین رائے سے ہوتا تو موزے پر مسح اوپر کے بجائے نیچے زیادہ مناسب ہوتا، جب کہ میں نے رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کو دیکھا، آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) اس طرح انگلیوں سے مسح کرتے تھے (یعنی عملاً کرکے دکھلایا) ۔
(1387) Syedna Ali (RA) se riwayat hai keh agar deen raay se hota to mozay par masah upar ke bajaye neeche ziada munasib hota, jab keh maine Rasool Allah (SAW) ko dekha, aap (SAW) is tarah ungliyon se masah karte thay (yani amlan kar ke dikhaaya).
Yazid ibn 'Abd al-'Aziz narrated to us from A'mash from his father that he said: "I think the inside (bottom) of the feet is more deserving of wiping, and I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) wiping over the top of his socks."

(١٣٨٨) یزید بن عبد العزیز اعمش سے یہ حدیث نقل فرماتے ہیں کہ میرے خیال میں قدموں کے اندرونی (نچلے) حصے مسح کے زیادہ مستحق ہیں اور میں نے رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کو دیکھا ، آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) موزوں کے اوپر والے حصے پر ہی مسح فرماتے تھے۔
(1388) Yazeed bin Abd ul Azeez Aamash se yeh hadees naql farmate hain ke mere khayal mein qadmon ke andaruni (niche) hisse masah ke zyada mustahiq hain aur maine Rasulullah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ko dekha, aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) mozon ke upar wale hisse par hi masah farmate thay.
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyidina Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) that: "I thought that the inside (i.e. the bottom) of the feet deserved to be wiped more than the outside, but I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) performed ablution and wiped over the top of his socks." (b) The narrations regarding socks, all of these are evidence of its being brief.

(١٣٨٩) سیدنا علی بن أبی طالب (رض) سے روایت ہے کہ میرا خیال ہے قدموں کا اندرونی (یعنی نچلا) حصہ ظاہری حصے سے مسح کا زیادہ مستحق ہے ، لیکن میں نے رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کو دیکھا، آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے وضو کیا اور اپنے موزوں کے اوپر والے حصے پر مسح کیا۔ (ب) موزوں والی روایات یہ تمام اس کے مختصر ہونے کی دلیل ہیں۔
(1389) Syedna Ali bin Abi Talib (RA) se riwayat hai keh mera khayal hai qadmon ke andaruni (yani nichla) hissa zahiri hisse se masah ka zyada mustahiq hai, lekin maine Rasulullah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ko dekha, aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne wuzu kiya aur apne mozon ke upar wale hisse par masah kiya. (b) mozon wali riwayat yeh tamam is ke mukhtasar hone ki daleel hain.
(1390) (a) Abd Khayr narrated that he saw Sayyidina Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) perform ablution and wipe over his feet, then he said: If I had not seen the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) wiping over his feet, I would have thought that the lower part or the inner part was more deserving.
(b) Sayyidina Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) described the manner of ablution of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), saying that he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) washed his feet three times each.

(١٣٩٠) (الف) عبد خیر فرماتے ہیں کہ میں نے سیدنا علی (رض) کو دیکھا کہ انھوں نے وضو کیا اور مسح کیا، پھر فرمایا : اگر میں نے رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کو نہ دیکھا ہوتا کہ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) پاؤں کے اوپر مسح کرتے تھے تو میرا خیال تھا یہ کہ ان کا نیچے والا حصہ یا اندرونی حصہ زیادہ مستحق ہے۔ (ب) سیدنا علی (رض) نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے وضو کے طریقہ کے متعلق بیان فرماتے ہیں کہ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے اپنے پاؤں کو تین تین مرتبہ دھویا۔
(1390) (alif) Abd Khair farmate hain keh maine Syedna Ali (ra) ko dekha keh unhon ne wuzu kiya aur masah kiya, phir farmaya: agar maine Rasul Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ko na dekha hota keh aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) paon ke upar masah karte thay to mera khayal tha yeh keh in ka neeche wala hissa ya andaruni hissa ziada mustahiq hai. (be) Syedna Ali (ra) Nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ke wuzu ke tareeqe ke mutalliq bayan farmate hain keh aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne apne paon ko teen teen martaba dhoya.
(1391) Salim bin Abdullah narrated from his father that Saad bin Abi Waqas (may Allah be pleased with him) asked Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) about wiping over socks. Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) commanded us to wipe over the upper part of the socks when he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: When you are in the state of ablution.
(B) The narration of Khalid bin Abi Bakr is not strong. The previous narration is sufficient.

(١٣٩١) سالم بن عبداللہ اپنے والد سے نقل فرماتے ہیں کہ سیدنا عمر بن خطاب (رض) سے سیدنا سعد بن أبی وقاص نے موزوں پر مسح کے متعلق سوال کیا تو سیدنا عمر (رض) نے فرمایا : میں نے رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) سے سنا کہ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) ہم کو موزوں کے اوپر والے حصے پر مسح کرنے کا حکم دیتے تھے جب فرمایا : باوضو پہنے ہوں۔
(ب) خالد بن ابی بکر قوی نہیں۔ پچھلی روایت میں کفایت کر جائے گا۔
(1391) Salim bin Abdullah apne wald se naql farmate hain ke Sayyidna Umar bin Khattab (RA) se Sayyidna Saad bin Abi Waqas ne mozon par masah ke mutalliq sawal kiya to Sayyidna Umar (RA) ne farmaya : mein ne Rasulullah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) se suna ke aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) hum ko mozon ke upar wale hisse par masah karne ka hukum dete the jab farmaya : ba wazu pahne hon.
(b) Khalid bin Abi Bakr qawi nahin. Pichli riwayat mein kafiyat kar jaye ga.
(1392) Hamid bin Mahraq Ansari saw Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) in Quba wiping over his socks with a single hand.

(١٣٩٢) حمید بن مخرق انصاری نے سیدنا انس بن مالک (رض) کو قبا مقام میں دیکھا کہ انھوں نے ایک ہی ہتھیلی سے اپنے موزوں کے اوپر والے حصے پر مسح کیا۔
(1392) hamid bin makhraq ansari ne sayyidna anas bin malik (raz) ko qaba maqam mein dekha keh unhon ne ek hi hatheli se apne mozon ke upar wale hisse par masah kiya.
Ala' said: I saw Qais ibn Sa'd ibn 'Ubada urinating, then he came to the Tigris and performed ablution, and wiped over the top of his socks. I saw the marks of his fingers on his socks.

(١٣٩٤) علاء کہتے ہیں : میں نے سیدنا قیس بن سعد بن عبادہ کو دیکھا، انھوں نے پیشاب کیا، پھر دجلہ آئے اور وضو کیا اور اپنے موزوں کے اوپر والے حصے میں اس طرح مسح کیا، میں نے ان کی انگلیوں کے نشان موزے پر دیکھے۔
Alaa kahte hain : mein ne Sayyida Qais bin Saad bin Ubadah ko dekha, unhon ne peshab kiya, phir Dajla aaye aur wuzu kiya aur apne mozon ke upar wale hisse mein is tarah masah kiya, mein ne un ki ungliyon ke nishan moze par dekhe.
