Chapter on the Evidence That Eating Those Things is Not Forbidden
باب الدليل على أن أكل ذلك غير حرام
Sunan al-Kubra Bayhaqi 5056
Narrated Jabir bin Abdullah (RA): The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "He who eats garlic or onion should keep away from us, or keep away from our mosque, or should remain in his house." And some cooked meat was brought to the Prophet (ﷺ), which contained vegetables, and he (ﷺ) smelled its odor. He (ﷺ) was told which vegetables were in it, whereupon he (ﷺ) said, "Bring it closer to my companions." When the one who brought it noticed that he (ﷺ) disliked it, he also held back, whereupon the Prophet (ﷺ) said, "You eat it, for I am commanded (by Allah) to convey the Message (of Islam) to those whom you do not convey to."

(٥٠٥٦) جابر بن عبداللہ (رض) سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : جو لہسن یا پیاز کھائے وہ ہم سے الگ رہے یا ہماری مسجد سے الگ رہے یا اپنے گھر میں بیٹھا رہے اور آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے پاس ہنڈیا لائی گئی، جس میں سبزیاں تھیں تو آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے اس کی بو کو پایا تو آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کو بتایا گیا جو اس میں سبزیاں تھیں۔ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : اس کو اپنے ساتھیوں کے قریب کر دو ۔ جس وقت اس نے دیکھا کہ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے اس کو ناپسند فرمایا ہے تو وہ بھی رک گئے، آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : تم کھاؤ میں ان سے سرگوشی کرتا ہوں جن سے تم سرگوشی نہیں کرتے۔
(5056) Jabir bin Abdullah (RA) se riwayat hai ki Rasul Allah (SAW) ne farmaya: Jo lahsan ya pyaaz khaye woh hum se alag rahe ya hamari masjid se alag rahe ya apne ghar mein betha rahe aur aap (SAW) ke paas handiya laee gayi, jis mein sabziyan thin to aap (SAW) ne is ki boo ko paya to aap (SAW) ko bataya gaya jo is mein sabziyan hain. Aap (SAW) ne farmaya: Is ko apne saathiyon ke qareeb kar do. Jis waqt is ne dekha ki aap (SAW) ne is ko napasand farmaya hai to woh bhi rakh gaye, aap (SAW) ne farmaya: Tum khao mein in se sergoshi karta hun jin se tum sergoshi nahi karte.
Jabir bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to eat food and send the leftover food to Abu Ayyub. Once, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was given a bowl of food, and he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) did not eat anything from it because it contained garlic. Abu Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with him) came and said, "O Messenger of Allah! Is it forbidden?" He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "It is not forbidden, but I dislike it because of its smell." Abu Ayyub said, "Then I also dislike what you dislike."

(٥٠٥٨) جابر بن سمرہ (رض) فرماتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کھانا کھاتے اور بچا ہوا کھانا ابو ایوب کی طرف بھیج دیتے۔ ایک مرتبہ نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے ایک کھانے کا پیالہ دیا اور آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے اس میں سے کچھ بھی نہیں کھایا، کیونکہ اس میں لہسن تھا۔ ابوایوب (رض) آئے اور عرض کیا : اے اللہ کے رسول ! کیا یہ حرام ہے ؟ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : حرام نہیں، لیکن میں اس کو بو کی وجہ سے ناپسند کرتا ہوں۔ ابو ایوب کہنے لگے : پھر میں بھی ناپسند کرتا ہوں جس کو آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) ناپسند کرتے ہیں۔
(5058) Jabir bin Samrah (RA) farmate hain keh Rasool Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) khana khate aur bacha hua khana Abu Ayyub ki taraf bhej dete. Ek martaba Nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne ek khane ka piyala diya aur Aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne us mein se kuchh bhi nahin khaya, kyunki us mein lahsan tha. Abu Ayyub (RA) aye aur arz kiya: Aye Allah ke Rasool! Kya yeh haram hai? Aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne farmaya: Haram nahin, lekin mein isko boo ki wajah se napasand karta hun. Abu Ayyub kehne lage: Phir mein bhi napasand karta hun jis ko Aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) napasand karte hain.
Abu Said Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: Garlic, onion and leek were mentioned in the presence of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). It was said: "O Messenger of Allah! You dislike garlic the most among them. Do you forbid it?" He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "No, you eat. But whoever eats it, should not come near this mosque until his odor has disappeared."

(٥٠٥٩) ابو سعید خدری (رض) فرماتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے پاس، لہسن، پیاز اور گیندنے کا ذکر کیا گیا ، عرض کیا گیا : اے اللہ کے رسول ! آپ کو ان میں سب سے زیادہ ناپسند لہسن ہے، کیا آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) اس کو حرام قرار دیتے ہیں ؟ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : نہیں، تم کھاؤ، لیکن جو کھالے وہ اس مسجد کے قریب نہ آئے جب تک اس کی بو ختم نہ ہو۔
5059 Abu Saeed Khudri (RA) farmate hain ke Rasul Allah (SAW) ke paas, lahsan, piyaz aur gandane ka zikar kiya gaya, arz kiya gaya: Aye Allah ke Rasul! Aap ko in mein sab se zyada napasand lahsan hai, kya aap (SAW) is ko haram qarar dete hain? Aap (SAW) ne farmaya: Nahin, tum khao, lekin jo khaale wo is masjid ke qareeb na aaye jab tak is ki bu khatam na ho.
(5060) Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: When Khaybar was conquered, we got some vegetables which contained garlic. We ate a good quantity, as we were hungry. Then, we went towards the mosque. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) perceived the smell of garlic. He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “Whoever has eaten from this bad-smelling plant, should not come near our mosque.” The people started saying, “It has been prohibited, it has been prohibited!” This news reached the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “O people! What Allah has made lawful is not prohibited. However, I dislike its smell.”

(٥٠٦٠) ابو سعید خدری (رض) فرماتے ہیں : جب خیبر فتح ہوا تو ہمیں سبزی ملی جس میں لہسن تھا تو ہم نے خوب کھایا اور بھوکے بھی تھے، پھر ہم مسجد کی طرف چلے، تو نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے لہسن کی بو محسوس کی، آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : جو اس خبیث درخت سے کھائے وہ مسجد کے قریب نہ آئے تو لوگوں نے کہنا شروع کردیا کہ حرام کردیا گیا، حرام کردیا گیا۔ یہ بات نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) تک پہنچی تو آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : اے لوگو ! جو اللہ نے حلال قرار دیا وہ حرام نہیں۔ لیکن میں اس کو بو کی ناپسند کرتا ہوں۔
(5060) Abu Saeed Khudri (RA) farmate hain : Jab Khaibar fatah hua to humain sabzi mili jis mein lahsan tha to hum ne khoob khaya aur bhookay bhi thay, phir hum masjid ki taraf chalay, to Nabi (SAW) ne lahsan ki boo mehsoos ki, Aap (SAW) ne farmaya : Jo is khabees darakht se khaaye wo masjid ke qareeb na aaye to logon ne kehna shuru kardiya ke haram kardiya gaya, haram kardiya gaya. Yeh baat Nabi (SAW) tak pahunchi to Aap (SAW) ne farmaya : Aye logon ! Jo Allah ne halal qarar diya wo haram nahin. Lekin main is ko boo ki napasand karta hun.
Mughirah bin Shubah narrated that he ate garlic during the lifetime of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). He then came to the mosque and one rak'ah of the prayer had been offered. He joined the prayer and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) smelled its odor. So the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever eats of this evil tree, let him not approach our mosque or, he said: our prayer, until its odor goes away." I completed the prayer and when I finished offering salam, I said: "O Messenger of Allah! I swear to you by Allah that if you were to ask me to put my hand (in yours), I would put it in yours.” So he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) gave me his hand and I put it inside the sleeve of my shirt until it reached my chest. Then he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) found it bandaged and said: “You have an excuse.”

(٥٠٦١) مغیرہ بن شعبہ فرماتے ہیں کہ میں نے نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے دور میں لہسن کھایا۔ میں مسجد میں آیا اور نماز کی ایک رکعت ہوچکی تھی۔ میں نماز میں شامل ہوگیا، نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے اس کی بو کو پایا تو آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : جو اس خبیث درخت سے کھائے وہ مسجد کے یا فرمایا : نماز کے قریب نہ آئے جب تک ان کی بو ختم نہ ہو۔ میں نے نماز پوری کی، جب میں نے سلام پھیرا تو میں نے کہا : اے اللہ کے رسول ! میں آپ کو قسم دیتا ہوں کہ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) مجھے اپنا ہاتھ پکڑائیں گے تو آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے اپنا ہاتھ پکڑا دیا تو میں نے اپنی قمیص کی آستین میں داخل کر کے اپنے سینے تک لے گیا تو آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے اس پر پٹی بندھی ہوئی پائی تو فرمایا : تیرا عذر ہے۔
5061 Mughirah bin Shubah farmate hain keh maine Nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ke daur mein lahsan khaya. Main masjid mein aaya aur namaz ki aik rakat ho chuki thi. Main namaz mein shamil hogaya, Nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne is ki bu ko paya to aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne farmaya: Jo is khabees darakht se khaye woh masjid ke ya farmaya: Namaz ke qareeb na aaye jab tak in ki bu khatam na ho. Maine namaz puri ki, jab maine salam phera to maine kaha: Aye Allah ke Rasool! Main aap ko qasam deta hun keh aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) mujhe apna hath pakrayenge to aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne apna hath pakra diya to maine apni qamees ki aasteen mein dakhil kar ke apne seene tak le gaya to aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne is par patti bandhi hui pai to farmaya: Tera uzr hai.
Abu Zaid Jattan bin Salama inquired Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) about onions. She said: The last meal the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) ate contained onions.

(٥٠٦٢) أبی زیاد جتان بن سلمہ نے عائشہ (رض) سے پیاز کے بارے میں سوال کیا تو انھوں نے فرمایا : نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کا آخری کھانا جو آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے کھایا اس میں پیاز تھا۔
5062 abi ziyad jattan bin salma ne ayesha (raz) se piyaz ke bare mein sawal kiya to unhon ne farmaya : nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ka aakhri khana jo aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne khaya us mein piyaz tha.
Abu Rashid narrated: Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) ate onion from a roasted pot on the last Friday before his death.

(٥٠٦٣) ابو راشد فرماتے ہیں : یہ حدیث عائشہ (رض) سے نقل فرماتے ہیں کہ نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے اپنی وفات سے پچھلے جمعہ میں بھنی ہوئی ہنڈیا میں پیاز کھایا۔
(5063) Abu Rashid farmate hain : yeh hadees Ayesha (rz) se naql farmate hain ke Nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne apni wafat se pehle jumma mein bhuni hui handi mein pyaz khaya.
