Chapter on the Duty of Parents to Teach Children Purity and Prayer
باب ما على الآباء والأمهات من تعليم الصبيان أمر الطهارة والصلاة
Sunan al-Kubra Bayhaqi 5091
'Abd al-Malik ibn Rabi' ibn Subrah reported from his father, from his grandfather, that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Instruct your children to pray when they reach the age of seven, and discipline them (lightly) for it (if they do not pray) when they reach the age of ten.

(٥٠٩١) عبد الملک بن ربیع بن سبرہ اپنے والد سے اور وہ اپنے دادہ سے نقل فرماتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : بچے جب سات سال کے ہوجائیں تو ان کو نماز کی تعلیم دو اور دس سال کی عمر میں مار کر نماز پڑھاؤ۔
(5091) Abdul Malik bin Rabeeh bin Sabra apne walid se aur woh apne dada se naql farmate hain ki Rasulullah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne farmaya: Bache jab saat saal ke hojayeen to unko namaz ki taleem do aur das saal ki umar mein mar kar namaz parhaao.
Amr bin Shu'aib, on his father's authority, and he on his grandfather's, said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Command your children to pray when they become seven years old, and beat them for it (prayer) when they become ten years old, and arrange their beds (to sleep) separately."

(٥٩٢) عمرو بن شعیب اپنے والد سے اور وہ اپنے دادا سے بیان کرتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : سات سال کی عمر میں اپنے بچوں کو نماز کا حکم دو اور دس سال کی عمر میں مار کر نماز پڑھاؤ اور ان کے بستر جدا کر دو ۔
Amr bin Shoaib apne walid se aur wo apne dada se bayan karte hain ki Rasool Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne farmaya: Saat saal ki umar mein apne bachchon ko namaz ka hukum do aur das saal ki umar mein maar kar namaz parhaao aur unke bistar juda kar do.
Muadh bin Abdullah Jahni narrates that we went to Hisham bin Sa'd and he asked his wife: When should the child pray? She said: A man was narrating from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that when you (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) were asked about it, you said: When he distinguishes his right hand from his left, then command him to pray.

(٥٠٩٣) معاذ بن عبداللہ جھنی فرماتے ہیں کہ ہم ہشام بن سعد کے پاس گئے تو انھوں نے اپنی اہلیہ سے کہا : بچہ کب نماز پڑھے ؟ وہ فرمانے لگیں : ایک شخص نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) سے نقل کررہا تھا کہ جب آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) سے اس بارے میں پوچھا گیا تو آپ نے فرمایا : جب وہ اپنے دائیں ہاتھ کو بائیں سے پہچان لے تو اس کو نماز کا حکم دو ۔
Moaz bin Abdullah Jahni farmate hain ki hum Hisham bin Saad ke pass gaye to unhon ne apni ahliya se kaha: bachcha kab namaz parhe? Wo farmane lagi: ek shakhs Nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) se naqal kar raha tha ki jab aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) se is bare mein poocha gaya to aap ne farmaya: jab wo apne dayen hath ko bayen se pehchan le to usko namaz ka hukum do.
Abdullah said: "Command your children to pray when they become seven years old, and accustom them to good, for good becomes a habit."

(٥٠٩٤) عبداللہ فرماتے ہیں کہ تم اپنی اولاد سے نماز پر محافظت کراؤ اور تم ان کو خیر کا عادی بناؤ؛ کیونکہ بھلائی عادت کی وجہ سے ہوتی ہے۔
(5094) Abdullah farmate hain ke tum apni aulad se namaz par muhafizat karao aur tum un ko khair ka aadi banao; kyunki bhalai aadat ki wajah se hoti hai.
(5095) It is narrated from Abu Ahwas Abdullah that you should make your children guard their prayers and teach them goodness, and goodness is through habit.

(٥٠٩٥) ابو احوص عبداللہ سے نقل فرماتے ہیں کہ تم اپنی اولاد سے نماز پر محافظت کراؤ اور ان کو بھلائی سکھاؤ اور بھلائی عادت کے ذریعہ سے ہوتی ہے۔
(5095) Abu Ahosa Abdullah se naqal farmate hain ke tum apni aulad se namaz par muhafazat karao aur un ko bhalai sikhao aur bhalai aadat ke zariye se hoti hai.
Ayyub ibn Musa narrated from his father from his grandfather that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "There is no gift a father can give to his child that is better than good manners."
Grade: Da'if
(٥٠٩٧) ایوب بن موسیٰ اپنے باپ سے دادہ سے نقل فرماتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : اچھے ادب سے بڑھ کر کوئی والد اپنی اولاد کو تحفہ عطیہ نہیں دیتا۔
Ayoub bin Musa apne baap se dada se naql farmate hain ki Rasul Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne farmaya : achhe adab se badh kar koi walid apni aulad ko tohfa atiya nahi deta.
Uthman al-Hatibi said: I heard Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) saying to a man: "Teach your son good manners, for you will be asked about the manners of your children and what you taught them, for you will be asked about righteousness and obedience."

(٥٠٩٨) عثمان الحاطبی کہتے ہیں : میں نے ابن عمر (رض) سے سنا، وہ ایک شخص سے کہہ رہے تھے : اپنے بیٹے کو ادب سکھا ، کیونکہ تجھ سے اپنی اولاد کے ادب کے بارے میں سوال ہوگا اور تو نے اس کو کیا تعلیم دی ہے کیونکہ وہ سوال کیا جائے گا نیکی اور اطاعت کے بارے میں۔
Usman al-Hatibi kahte hain: mein ne Ibn Umar (RA) se suna, woh ek shakhs se keh rahe the: apne bete ko adab sikha, kyunki tujh se apni aulad ke adab ke bare mein sawal hoga aur tu ne us ko kya taleem di hai kyunki woh sawal kiya jayega neki aur itaat ke bare mein.
Sa'id bin 'As said: When I educate my children, get them married, and make them self-sufficient, then I have fulfilled their right upon me, and my right upon them remains.

(٥٠٩٩) سعید بن عاص کہتے ہیں : جب میں اپنی اولاد کو تعلیم دوں اور ان کی شادی کر دوں اور میں ان کو اس قابل بناؤں تو میں نے ان کا حق ادا کردیا اور میرا حق ان کے ذمہ باقی ہے۔
Saeed bin Aas kehte hain : Jab main apni aulad ko taleem dun aur un ki shadi kar dun aur main un ko is qabil banaun to main ne un ka haq ada kar diya aur mera haq un ke zimme baqi hai.
