(2114) Abdur Razzaq narrated to us: Ibn Juraij informed us, saying: I asked Ataa, "What is the most virtuous time to offer the Isha prayer, in your opinion?" He replied, "I heard Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) say that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) once delayed the Isha prayer one night until the people fell asleep, then woke up, then went back to sleep. When they woke up, Umar ibn al-Khattab stood up and said, 'The time for prayer is passing.' Ataa said, "Then Ibn Abbas said, 'Then the Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) arrived. The scene is still before my eyes as if water was dripping from your (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) blessed head, and you (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) were holding your hand on one side of your head. You (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, 'If I were not afraid of hardship for my Ummah, I would have ordered them to pray like this (at this time).' Ibn Juraij said, "I asked Ataa, 'How did the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) place his hand on his blessed head?' So Ataa, intending to explain to me, created some space between his fingers, meaning he spread his fingers, then placed the edges of his fingers on his head on the hairline, then brought his fingers together and began to turn them on his head in the same way until his thumb touched the lobe of his ear that was towards his face. Then he ran his hand over his temple and along the side of his beard. He was neither reducing nor exaggerating. I asked Ataa, 'How late did the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) delay the Isha prayer that night?' He replied, 'I don't know,' then he said, 'In my opinion, it is more beloved that you pray it in congregation or alone, so delay it as the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) prayed it that night. If it becomes burdensome for people to pray with you alone or in congregation, and you are their Imam, then pray with them at the middle time, neither too early nor too late."

(٢١١٤) عبدالرزاق فرماتے ہیں : ہمیں ابن جریج نے خبر دی کہ میں نے عطا سے عرض کیا : آپ کے نزدیک عشا کی نماز ادا کرنے کے لیے کون سا وقت زیادہ بہتر ہے ؟ وہ فرمانے لگے : میں نے ابن عباس (رض) کو فرماتے ہوئے سنا کہ نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے ایک رات عشا کی نماز میں تاخیر کی، حتیٰ کہ لوگ سو گئے پھر بیدار ہوگئے۔ پھر دوبارہ سو گئے۔ جب بیدار ہوئے تو عمر بن خطاب نے کھڑے ہو کر کہا : نماز کا وقت جا رہا ہے۔ عطا کہتے ہیں کہ ابن عباس نے فرمایا : پھر اللہ کے نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) تشریف لائے۔ یہ منظر اب بھی میری نظروں کے سامنے ہے کہ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے سر مبارک سے پانی ٹپک رہا تھا اور آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) اپنے ہاتھ کو سر کی ایک طرف رکھے ہوئے تھے ۔ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : اگر مجھے اپنی امت پر مشقت کا ڈر نہ ہوتا تو میں انھیں اسی طرح (اس وقت میں) نماز پڑھنے کا حکم دیتا۔ ابن جریج کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے عطا سے پوچھا کہ نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے اپنا ہاتھ سر مبارک پر کس طرح رکھا تھا ؟ تو عطا نے مجھے سمجھانے کی غرض سے اپنی انگلیوں کے درمیان کچھ فاصلہ کیا یعنی انگلیاں کشادہ کرلیں، پھر انگلیوں کے کناروں کو سر میں مانگ پر رکھا پھر انگلیوں کو ملا کر انھیں اسی طرح سر پر پھیرنے لگے حتیٰ کہ ان کا انگوٹھا چہرے کی طرف والی کان کی لو سے ٹکرایا۔
پھر کنپٹی پر اور داڑھی کے کنارے پر ہاتھ پھیرا۔ وہ نہ کمی کر رہے تھے اور نہ زیادتی۔ میں نے عطا سے پوچھا : اس رات نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے عشا کی نماز کتنی دیر تک موخر کی تھی ؟ انھوں نے فرمایا : میں نہیں جانتا، پھر فرمانے لگے : میرے نزدیک زیادہ محبوب یہ ہے کہ تو اس کو باجماعت یا اکیلے پڑھے تو تاخیر کر کے پڑھ جیسا کہ اس رات رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے پڑھائی تھی۔ اگر تجھ پر اکیلے یا جماعت کے ساتھ لوگوں پر گراں گزرے اور تو ان کا امام ہو تو ان کو درمیانے وقت میں پڑھا، نہ بہت زیادہ جلدی اور نہ ہی بہت زیادہ دیر سے۔
(2114) Abdur Razzaq farmate hain : humain Ibn Juraij ne khabar di ki maine Ata se arz kiya : aap ke nazdeek isha ki namaz ada karne ke liye kaun sa waqt zyada behtar hai ? Woh farmane lage : maine Ibn Abbas (Razi Allah Anhu) ko farmate huye suna ki Nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne ek raat isha ki namaz mein takheer ki, hatta ki log so gaye phir bedaar huye. Phir dobara so gaye. Jab bedaar huye to Umar bin Khattab ne khade ho kar kaha : namaz ka waqt ja raha hai. Ata kahte hain ki Ibn Abbas ne farmaya : phir Allah ke Nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) tashreef laaye. Yeh manzar ab bhi meri nazron ke samne hai ki aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ke sar mubarak se pani tapak raha tha aur aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) apne hath ko sar ki ek taraf rakhe huye the. Aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne farmaya : agar mujhe apni ummat par mushqat ka dar na hota to main unhen isi tarah (is waqt mein) namaz padhne ka hukum deta. Ibn Juraij kahte hain ki maine Ata se pucha ki Nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne apna hath sar mubarak par kis tarah rakha tha ? To Ata ne mujhe samjhane ki garz se apni ungliyon ke darmiyan kuch fasla kiya yani ungliyan kushada karlin, phir ungliyon ke kinaron ko sar mein mang par rakha phir ungliyon ko mila kar unhen isi tarah sar par phirne lage hatta ki un ka ungotha chehre ki taraf wali kaan ki lo se takraya. Phir kanpati par aur darhi ke kinare par hath phira. Woh na kami kar rahe the aur na zyadati. Maine Ata se pucha : is raat Nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne isha ki namaz kitni der tak mokhar ki thi ? Unhon ne farmaya : main nahin janta, phir farmane lage : mere nazdeek zyada mahboob yeh hai ki tu is ko bajama'at ya akele padhe to takheer kar ke padh jaisa ki is raat Rasul Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne padhai thi. Agar tujh par akele ya jamaat ke sath logon par giran guzare aur tu un ka imam ho to un ko darmiyanay waqt mein padha, na bahut zyada jaldi aur na hi bahut zyada dair se.
Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that one night the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) did not remember the prayer. He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) did not come out of his house, and we kept sitting and dozing off. He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came to us and said: "There is no one on the face of the earth who is waiting for this prayer except you."

(٢١١٥) حضرت عبداللہ بن عمر (رض) فرماتے ہیں کہ ایک رات نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کو نماز کا دھیان نہ رہا۔ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) گھر سے نہ نکلے اور ہم بیٹھے بیٹھے سوتے جاگتے رہے۔ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) ہمارے پاس تشریف لائے اور فرمایا : تمہارے علاوہ اہل زمین میں سے کوئی نہیں جو اس نماز کا انتظار کررہا ہو۔
(2115) Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar (RA) farmate hain ke ek raat Nabi (SAW) ko namaz ka dhyan na raha. Aap (SAW) ghar se na nikle aur hum baithe baithe sote jagte rahe. Aap (SAW) humare pass tashreef laye aur farmaya: Tumhare alawa ahl zameen mein se koi nahin jo is namaz ka intezar kar raha ho.
Narrated Ibn `Umar: One night we were waiting for the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) for the 'Isha' prayer. When almost one-third of the night had passed, the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) came to us and said, "You have been waiting for such a prayer that no other religious people wait for it except you. If I were not afraid of it being hard for my followers, I would have ordered them to offer it at this time." Then he ordered the Mu'adhdhin to pronounce the Adhan and then the Iqamah. Then he (ﷺ) led the prayer.

(٢١١٦) حضرت ابن عمر (رض) سے روایت ہے کہ ایک رات ہم عشا کی نماز کے لیے رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کا انتظار کرتے رہے۔ جب رات کا تقریباً تہائی حصہ گزر گیا تو رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) ہمارے پاس تشریف لائے اور فرمایا : تم ایسی نماز کا انتظار کر رہے ہو کہ تمہارے علاوہ کسی بھی دین وملت والا اس کا انتظار نہیں کر رہا۔ اگر میں اپنی امت پر اس کو بھاری نہ سمجھتا تو میں اس وقت ان کو نماز پڑھایا کرتا، پھر موذن کو حکم دیا، اس نے اقامت کہی، پھر آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے نماز پڑھائی۔
(2116) Hazrat Ibn Umar (RA) se riwayat hai ki ek raat hum isha ki namaz ke liye Rasul Allah (SAW) ka intezar karte rahe. Jab raat ka taqreeban tehrai hissa guzar gaya to Rasul Allah (SAW) hamare pass tashreef laye aur farmaya: Tum aisi namaz ka intezar kar rahe ho ki tumhare alawa kisi bhi deen o millat wala iska intezar nahin kar raha. Agar mein apni ummat par isko bhari na samajhta to mein iss waqt inko namaz parhaaya karta, phir Moazan ko hukum diya, usne iqamat kahi, phir aap (SAW) ne namaz parhayi.
Narrated Aisha (RA): One night, the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) delayed the 'Isha' prayer until the first part of the night had passed, and the people in the mosque had fallen asleep. Then, the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) went to them and led them in prayer. He then said: "This is the most virtuous time for this prayer, were it not that it would be difficult for my Ummah." These are the words of the narration by 'Abdur-Razzaq. In the narration by Al-Hajjaj, also narrated from Umm Al-Mu'minin, Aisha (RA), she did not mention the word 'Isha'. The rest of the narration is the same.

(٢١١٧) حضرت عائشہ (رض) سے روایت ہے کہ ایک رات رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے عشا کی نماز میں تاخیر کی حتیٰ کہ رات کا ابتدائی حصہ گزر گیا اور مسجد والے بھی سو گئے۔ پھر رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) ان کی طرف تشریف لے گئے اور نماز پڑھائی، پھر فرمایا : یہ اس نماز کا افضل وقت ہے ، اگر یہ میری امت پر گراں نہ ہو۔ ” یہ عبدالرزاق کی حدیث کے الفاظ ہیں اور حجاج کی حدیث میں جو ام المومنین حضرت عائشہ (رض) سے منقول ہے کہ انھوں نے عشا کا لفظ نہیں کہا ۔ باقی اسی طرح ہے۔
(2117) Hazrat Ayesha (RA) se riwayat hai ki ek raat Rasool Allah (SAW) ne isha ki namaz mein takheer ki hatta ki raat ka ibtidai hissa guzar gaya aur masjid wale bhi so gaye. Phir Rasool Allah (SAW) un ki taraf tashreef le gaye aur namaz parhayi, phir farmaya : Yeh is namaz ka afzal waqt hai, agar yeh meri ummat par giran na ho.” Yeh Abdulrazzaq ki hadees ke alfaz hain aur Hajaaj ki hadees mein jo Ummulmomineen Hazrat Ayesha (RA) se manqol hai ki unhon ne isha ka lafz nahin kaha. Baqi isi tarah hai.
'Awf narrated to us that Abu Minhal narrated to us a hadith saying that I came to Abu Barzah al-Aslami with my father, so my father said to him: Tell us, at what time did the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) offer the obligatory prayers? He said: He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to offer the Zuhr prayer, which you call the first prayer, after the sun had declined, and he used to offer the Asr prayer at a time when if one of us went to the other side of Medina to his house, the sun would still be shining, and I do not remember the time of Maghrib, and he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) loved to delay the 'Isha prayer and he disliked sleeping before it and talking after it. When he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) finished the Fajr prayer, (there would be so much light that) each of us could recognize the person sitting next to him, and he would recite from sixty to one hundred verses in the Fajr prayer.

(٢١١٨) عوف بیان کرتے ہیں کہ ہمیں ابو منہال نے حدیث بیان کی کہ میں اپنے والد کے ہمراہ ابو برزہ اسلمی کے پاس آیا تو میرے والد نے ان سے عرض کیا : ہمیں بتلائیں کہ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) فرض نماز کس وقت میں ادا کرتے تھے ؟ انھوں نے فرمایا : آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) ظہر کی نماز جسے تم پہلی نماز کہتے ہو سورج ڈھلنے کے بعد ادا فرماتے تھے اور عصر کی نماز ایسے وقت میں ادا فرماتے کہ اگر ہم میں سے کوئی مدینہ کے دوسرے کنارے اپنے گھر جاتا تو سورج ابھی چمک رہا ہوتا اور مغرب کا وقت مجھے یاد نہیں رہا اور آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) عشا کو تاخیر سے ادا کرنا پسند فرماتے تھے اور عشا سے پہلے سونے کو ناپسند سمجھتے اور عشا کے بعد بات چیت کو بھی اچھا نہیں سمجھتے تھے۔ جب آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نماز فجر سے فارغ ہوتے تو (اتنی روشنی ہوجاتی تھی کہ) ہم میں سے ہر ایک اپنے ساتھ بیٹھے آدمی کو پہچان سکتا تھا اور آپ ساٹھ سے سو تک آیات فجر کی نماز میں تلاوت فرماتے تھے۔
2118 Auf bayan karte hain ki hamen Abu Minhal ne hadees bayan ki ki mein apne wald ke hamrah Abu Burzah Aslami ke paas aaya to mere wald ne un se arz kiya: Hamein bataen ki Rasul Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) farz namaz kis waqt mein ada karte thay? Unhon ne farmaya: Aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) Zuhr ki namaz jise tum pehli namaz kahte ho Suraj dhalne ke baad ada farmate thay aur Asr ki namaz aise waqt mein ada farmate ke agar hum mein se koi Madinah ke dusre kinare apne ghar jata to Suraj abhi chamak raha hota aur Maghrib ka waqt mujhe yaad nahin raha aur aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) Isha ko takheer se ada karna pasand farmate thay aur Isha se pehle sone ko napasand samajhte aur Isha ke baad baat cheet ko bhi achcha nahin samajhte thay. Jab aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) namaz Fajr se farigh hote to (itni roshni ho jati thi ki) hum mein se har ek apne sath baithe aadmi ko pehchan sakta tha aur aap saath se sau tak aayaat Fajr ki namaz mein tilawat farmate thay.
Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) delayed the 'Isha' prayer one night until midnight. Then he came out and led the people in prayer and said, "The time you spend waiting for prayer is counted as prayer."
If I were not afraid for the elderly and the weak, I would have delayed this prayer until midnight." The narrator said, "Perhaps he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) also mentioned the pilgrims."

(٢١٢٠) حضرت ابو سعید خدری (رض) سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے (ایک رات) عشا کی نماز میں آدھی رات تک تاخیر کی، پھر تشریف لائے اور لوگوں کو نماز پڑھائی اور فرمایا : تم جب تک نماز کا انتظار کرتے ہو وہ وقت نماز ہی میں شمار ہوتا ہے۔
اگر بوڑھوں اور کمزوروں کا ڈر نہ ہوتا تو میں اس نماز کو آدھی رات تک موخر کردیتا۔ راوی کہتے ہیں : شاید آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے حاجت مندوں کا ذکر بھی فرمایا۔
2120 Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (RA) se riwayat hai keh Rasool Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne (aik raat) Isha ki namaz mein aadhi raat tak takheer ki, phir tashreef laaye aur logon ko namaz parhai aur farmaya: Tum jab tak namaz ka intezar karte ho woh waqt namaz hi mein shumaar hota hai. Agar budhon aur kamzoron ka dar na hota to main is namaz ko aadhi raat tak mokher karta. Rawi kehte hain: Shayad aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne haajatmandon ka zikar bhi farmaya.
Narrated Mu'adh ibn Jabal (RA): One night we were waiting for the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) for the 'Isha' prayer. He (ﷺ) was late, so much so that some people thought that he might have prayed or he might not come. Then the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) came and a man said, "O Prophet of Allah! We thought that you must have prayed or that you would not come today." He (ﷺ) said, "Offer this prayer late, for you have been given superiority over the previous nations because of this prayer, and no nation before you has offered this prayer."

(٢١٢١) حضرت معاذ بن جبل (رض) سے روایت ہے کہ ہم ایک رات عشا کی نماز کے لیے رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کا انتظار کر رہے تھے۔
آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کو تاخیر ہوگئی حتیٰ کہ بعض لوگوں نے یہ سمجھا کہ شاید آپ نے نماز پڑھ لی ہے یا آپ اب تشریف نہیں لائیں گے۔ پھر رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) تشریف لائیتو ایک شخص کہنے لگا : اے اللہ کے نبی ! ہم تو یہ سمجھ بیٹھے تھے کہ آپ ضرور نماز ادا کرچکے ہوں گے یا آج آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) تشریف نہیں لائیں گے تو آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : اس نماز کو تاخیر سے پڑھا کرو، کیونکہ تمہیں اس نماز کی وجہ سے سابقہ امتوں پر فضیلت دی گئی ہے اور تم سے پہلے کسی امت نے یہ نماز ادا نہیں کی۔
(2121) Hazrat Muaz bin Jabal (RA) se riwayat hai ki hum aik raat isha ki namaz ke liye Rasool Allah (SAW) ka intezar kar rahe the. Aap (SAW) ko takheer hogayi hatta ke baaz logon ne ye samjha ke shayad aap ne namaz parh li hai ya aap ab tashreef nahin layenge. Phir Rasool Allah (SAW) tashreef laaye to aik shakhs kehne laga: Aye Allah ke Nabi! Hum to ye samjh baithe the ke aap zaroor namaz ada kar chuke honge ya aaj aap (SAW) tashreef nahin layenge to aap (SAW) ne farmaya: Is namaz ko takheer se parho, kyunki tumhen is namaz ki wajah se sabaq ummaton par fazilat di gayi hai aur tum se pehle kisi ummat ne ye namaz ada nahin ki.
`Ubaidullah ibn Abi Yazid reported that he heard Ibn 'Abbas say that he liked to pray 'Isha' late and he would recite this verse: "And during a portion of the night." (Hud 114)

(٢١٢٢) حضرت عبید اللہ بن ابی یزید (رض) سے روایت ہے کہ انھوں نے ابن عباس سے سنا کہ وہ عشا کو تاخیر سے ادا کرنا پسند کرتے تھے اور یہ آیت کریمہ پڑھتے تھے : { وَزُلَفًا مِّنَ اللَّیْلِ } [ھود : ١١٤] (اور رات کی گھڑیوں میں) ۔
Hazrat Ubaidullah bin Abi Yazid (RA) se riwayat hai ki unhon ne Ibn Abbas se suna ki woh Isha ko takheer se ada karna pasand karte the aur yeh ayat kareema parhte the: { wa zulfan minal layl } (aur raat ki ghariyon mein).
