Chapter on Raising the Hands During the Opening Takbir
باب رفع اليدين في الافتتاح مع التكبير
Sunan al-Kubra Bayhaqi 2310
(2310) (a) Narrated Abdullah bin Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) that I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) when he started the prayer, he would say Takbir and raise his hands up to his shoulders. Then when he would say Takbir for bowing (ruku), he would do so, and when he would say Sami Allahu liman Hamidah (Allah hears those who praise Him), he would do the same and say Rabbana wa lakal Hamd (Our Lord, to You be all praise). But when he prostrated and rose from prostration, he did not raise his hands.
(b) In the narration of Malik and Ibn 'Uyainah, it is stated that when he started the prayer, he would raise his hands. This narration is similar in meaning to the narration of Shu'ayb, but Shu'ayb's narration is more clear.

(٢٣١٠) (ا) حضرت عبداللہ بن عمر بن خطاب (رض) سے روایت ہے کہ میں نے رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کو دیکھا، جب آپ نماز شروع کرتے تو تکبیر کہتے اور اپنے ہاتھوں کو کندھوں تک اٹھاتے۔ پھر جب رکوع کے لیے تکبیر کہتے تو اس طرح کرتے، پھر جب سمع اللہ لمن حمدہ کہتے تو اسی طرح کرتے اور ربنا ولک الحمد کہتے، لیکن جب سجدہ کرتے اور سجدے سے اٹھتے تو رفع یدین نہیں کرتے تھے۔
(ب) مالک اور ابن عیینہ کی روایت میں ہے کہ آپ جب نماز شروع کرتے تو رفع یدین کرتے۔ یہ روایت شعیب کی روایت کے معنیٰ میں ہے مگر شعیب کی روایت زیادہ واضح ہے۔
(2310) (a) Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar bin Khattab (RA) se riwayat hai ki maine Rasool Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ko dekha, jab aap namaz shuru karte to takbeer kahte aur apne hathon ko kandhon tak uthate. Phir jab ruku ke liye takbeer kahte to is tarah karte, phir jab Sami Allahu Liman Hamidah kahte to isi tarah karte aur Rabbana Lakal Hamd kahte, lekin jab sajdah karte aur sajde se uthte to rafa yadain nahin karte the.
(b) Malik aur Ibn e Aina ki riwayat mein hai ki aap jab namaz shuru karte to rafa yadain karte. Yeh riwayat Shaib ki riwayat ke maeny mein hai magar Shaib ki riwayat zyada wazeh hai.
Abdul Rahman Masudi says that I heard from Abdul Jabbar bin Wa'il, who said that my family narrated to me that when Wa'il went to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), he saw that he (the Prophet) would raise his hands while reciting Takbir and would place his right hand over his left in prayer and would perform prostration between his two palms.

(٢٣١١) عبدالرحمن مسعودی فرماتے ہیں کہ میں نے عبدالجبار بن وائل سے سنا کہ مجھے میرے گھر والوں نے روایت بیان کی کہ وائل جب رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوئے تو آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کو دیکھا کہ آپ تکبیر کے ساتھ رفع یدین بھی کرتے تھے اور نماز میں دائیں ہاتھ کو بائیں ہاتھ پر رکھتے تھے اور سجدہ اپنی دونوں ہتھیلیوں کے درمیان کرتے تھے۔
2311 Abdurrahman Masoodi farmate hain ke maine Abdaljabbar bin Wail se suna ke mujhe mere ghar walon ne riwayat bayan ki ke Wail jab Rasool Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ki khidmat mein hazir hue to aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ko dekha ke aap takbeer ke sath rafay yadain bhi karte thay aur namaz mein dayen hath ko baen hath par rakhte thay aur sajdah apni donon hatheliyon ke darmiyaan karte thay.
Narrated Wa'il ibn Hujr (RA): I prayed behind the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). When he would say the takbir (Allahu Akbar), he would raise his hands, and he would do the same when bowing and when raising his head from bowing, and when prostrating. I saw him (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) turning to his right and his left (while giving the Salam) at the end of the prayer.

(٢٣١٢) حضرت وائل بن حجر (رض) سے روایت ہے کہ میں نے رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے پیچھے نماز پڑھی، جب آپ تکبیر کہتے تو اپنے ہاتھوں کو بھی اٹھاتے اور رکوع کرتے اور جب رکوع سے سر اٹھاتے یا سجدہ کرتے، تب بھی رفع یدین کرتے۔
میں نے آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کو دیکھا کہ آپ اپنے دائیں اور بائیں طرف سلام پھیرتے تھے۔
(2312) Hazrat Wael bin Hujr (RA) se riwayat hai keh maine Rasool Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ke peeche namaz parhi, jab aap takbeer kehte to apne hathon ko bhi uthate aur ruku karte aur jab ruku se sar uthate ya sajda karte, tab bhi rafay yadain karte. Maine aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ko dekha keh aap apne daayen aur baayen taraf salam phirte thay.
