Chapter on what is mentioned about embracing between men, if it does not lead to arousing desire
باب ما جاء في معانقة الرجل الرجل، إذا لم تكن مؤدية إلى تحريك شهوة
Sunan al-Kubra Bayhaqi 13572
A man from Azza said to Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him), when he was sent to Syria, that I ask you about the hadith of the Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). He said: If I tell you, will you keep it a secret? I said: It is not something like that. Did the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) shake hands with you when you met him? He said: Whenever I met you (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), you (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) shook hands with me. And one day he sent someone to me and I was not at home. When I came home, I was told that you (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had sent someone to me. I came to you and you were sitting on a cot, you embraced me, it was a very good occasion, it was very good.

(١٣٥٧٢) عزہ کے ایک آدمی نے ابوذر (رض) کو کہا، جب ان کو شام کی طرف بھیجا کہ میں تم سے حدیث رسول (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے بارے میں پوچھتا ہوں، انھوں نے کہا : اگر میں تجھے بتلا دوں تو کیا آپ اسے صیغہ راز میں رکھیں گے، میں نے کہا : وہ ایسی بات نہیں ہے۔ کیا نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) تم سے مصافحہ کرتے تھے، جب تم ان سے ملاقات کرتے ؟ تو انھوں نے کہا : جب بھی میں آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کو ملا تو آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے مجھ سے مصافحہ ہی کیا ہے اور میری طرف ایک دن کسی کو بھیجا اور میں گھر میں نہیں تھا۔ جب میں گھر میں آیا تو مجھے بتایا گیا کہ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے کسی کو میری طرف بھیجا، میں آپ کے پاس آیا اور آپ چارپائی پر بیٹھے تھے، آپ مجھ سے لپٹ گئے، یہ بہت اچھا موقعہ تھا، بہت اچھا تھا۔
(13572) Aza ke aik aadmi ne Abuzar (RA) ko kaha, jab un ko Sham ki taraf bheja ke mein tum se hadees Rasool ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ke bare mein poochta hoon, unhon ne kaha : Agar mein tujhe batla doon to kya aap ise sigha raz mein rakhenge, maine kaha : Woh aisi baat nahin hai. Kya Nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) tum se musafaha karte the, jab tum un se mulakat karte ? To unhon ne kaha : Jab bhi mein aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ko mila to aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne mujh se musafaha hi kiya hai aur meri taraf aik din kisi ko bheja aur mein ghar mein nahin tha. Jab mein ghar mein aaya to mujhe bataya gaya ke aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne kisi ko meri taraf bheja, mein aap ke pass aaya aur aap charpai par baithe the, aap mujh se lipat gaye, yeh bahut achha mauqa tha, bahut achha tha.
It was narrated from Anas bin Malik (RA) that it was said: “O Messenger of Allah, should we bow to one another when we meet?” He said: “No.” It was said: “Should we embrace one another?” He said: “No.” It was said: “Should we shake hands?” He said: “Yes.”

(١٣٥٧٣) انس بن مالک (رض) سے روایت ہے کہ کہا گیا : اے اللہ کے رسول (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) ! کیا جب ہم ملاقات کریں تو ایک دوسرے کے لیے جھکیں ؟ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : نہیں۔ پھر پوچھا : ہم ایک دوسرے کو گلے مل لیں ؟ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : نہیں، پھر پوچھا : مصافحہ کرلیں تو آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : ہاں۔
(13573) Anas bin Malik (RA) se riwayat hai ke kaha gaya: Aye Allah ke Rasool (SAW)! Kya jab hum mulaqat karein to ek doosre ke liye jhukain? Aap (SAW) ne farmaya: Nahi. Phir poocha: Hum ek doosre ko gale mil lein? Aap (SAW) ne farmaya: Nahi, phir poocha: Musafaha kar lein to aap (SAW) ne farmaya: Haan.
(13574) Ibn Umar (R.A.) was near some water when he received news that Husayn bin Ali (R.A.) was going to Iraq. He went and met him and related a long tradition, in which he was ordered to return, but he refused to return. Ibn Umar (R.A.) embraced him and wept, and said: I entrust you to Allah in fear of your being killed.

(١٣٥٧٤) ابن عمر (رض) پانی پر تھے، ان کو خبر ملی کہ حسین بن علی (رض) عراق کی طرف جا رہے ہیں تو وہ ان کو ملے، لمبی حدیث ذکر کی۔ جس میں اس کو لوٹنے کا حکم دیا تو انھوں نے لوٹنے سے انکار کردیا، ابن عمر (رض) ان کے گلے ملے اور رو پڑے اور فرمایا : میں تجھے تیرے قتل ہونے کے ڈر سے اللہ کے سپرد کرتا ہوں۔
Ibn Umar (RA) pani par thay, un ko khabar mili keh Hussain bin Ali (RA) Iraq ki taraf ja rahay hain to woh un ko milay, lambi hadees zikar ki. Jis mein us ko lautnay ka hukum diya to unhon ne lautnay se inkar kardiya, Ibn Umar (RA) un ke galay milay aur ro parhay aur farmaya : mein tujhe teray qatal honay ke dar se Allah ke supurd karta hun.
(13575) Muhammad bin Sirin disliked shaking hands. The narrator says: I mentioned this to Sha'bi, so he said: The Companions of Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to shake hands whenever they met, and they used to embrace when they returned from a journey.

(١٣٥٧٥) محمد بن سیرین مصافحہ کو ناپسند کرتے تھے۔ راوی کہتا ہے کہ میں نے اس بات کا ذکر شعبی سے کیا تو انھوں نے کہا : محمد (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے ساتھی جب بھی ملتے تھے تو مصافحہ کرتے تھے اور جب سفر سے آتے تو گلے ملتے تھے۔
(13575) Muhammad bin Sirin musafaha ko napasand karte thay. Ravi kehta hai ki maine is baat ka zikr Shuaibi se kiya to unhon ne kaha: Muhammad ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ke sathi jab bhi milte thay to musafaha karte thay aur jab safar se aate thay to gale milte thay.
