Chapter: Permission to use them in cases of necessity

Sunan al-Kubra Bayhaqi 18013
Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: I reached Abu Jahl while he was half dead. He had a head injury and a good sword in his hand, while my sword was light. I struck him on his head with my sword. I remembered his striking me in Makkah. I kept on striking him till his hand weakened. I then took hold of his sword. He raised his head and said, "Who has been defeated? We or they?" He then said to me, "Weren't you our shepherd in Makkah?" Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I then killed him. I then came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said, "I have killed him." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "By Allah, besides Whom none has the right to be worshipped, did you kill him?" The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) made me swear thrice. Then he went with me and invoked evil upon him.

(١٨٠١٣) حضرت عبداللہ (رض) فرماتے ہیں : میں ابو جہل کے پاس پہنچا، وہ نیم مردہ حالت میں تھا۔ اس کے سر پر خود تھا اور اس کے پاس عمدہ تلوار تھی اور میری تلوار ہلکی تھی۔ میں اپنی تلوار سے اس کے سر پر مارا اس وقت مجھے مکہ میں اس کا مجھے مارنا یاد آیا۔ میں نے اتنا مارا کہ اس کا ہاتھ کمزور ہوگیا۔ میں نے اس کی تلوار پکڑ لی۔ اس نے سر اٹھایا اور کہا : شکست کس کو ہوئی ؟ کیا ہمیں یا ان کو اور مجھے کہا : کیا تو مکہ میں ہمارا چرواہا نہیں تھا۔ عبداللہ (رض) فرماتے ہیں : میں نے اس کو قتل کردیا۔ پھر نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے پاس آیا اور کہا کہ میں نے اس کو قتل کردیا۔ نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : اللہ کی قسم وہ اللہ جس کے علاوہ کوئی معبود نہیں ہے کیا تو نے اس کو قتل کیا ہے ؟ نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے تین دفعہ مجھ سے قسم لی۔ پھر میرے ساتھ گئے۔ پھر ان کے لیے بددعا کی۔
(18013) Hazrat Abdullah (RA) farmate hain : mein Abu Jahal ke paas pahuncha, woh neem murda halat mein tha. Uss ke sar par khud tha aur uss ke paas umdah talwar thi aur meri talwar halki thi. Mein apni talwar se uss ke sar par mara uss waqt mujhe Makkah mein uss ka mujhe marna yaad aaya. Mein ne itna mara keh uss ka hath kamzor hogaya. Mein ne uss ki talwar pakad li. Uss ne sar uthaya aur kaha : shikast kis ko hui ? kya humein ya un ko aur mujhe kaha : kya tu Makkah mein hamara charwaha nahin tha. Abdullah (RA) farmate hain : mein ne uss ko qatal kardiya. Phir Nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ke paas aaya aur kaha keh mein ne uss ko qatal kardiya. Nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne farmaya : Allah ki qasam woh Allah jis ke ilawa koi mabood nahin hai kya tu ne uss ko qatal kiya hai ? Nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne teen dafa mujh se qasam li. Phir mere saath gaye. Phir un ke liye baddua ki.
Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: I came to Abu Jahl, who was lying half-dead among the slain. I had an old sword with me. I began to strike him with my sword, but it was not doing anything. He looked at me and said: "Weren't you our shepherd in Mecca?" In the meantime, his sword fell down. I grabbed it and killed him with his own sword. Then I quickly came and informed you, and you said: "Have you killed him?" I said: "Yes." You took three oaths from me, and I swore them. Then you said: "Let's go and see him." You came out, and I showed him to you, and you said: "This is the Pharaoh of this Ummah."

(١٨٠١٤) عبداللہ (رض) کہتے ہیں : میں ابو جہل کے پاس آیا، وہ مقتولین میں نیم مردہ پڑا تھا۔ میرے پاس پرانی تلوار تھی۔ میں نے اس کو اپنی تلوار سے مارنا شروع کردیا وہ کچھ نہیں کر رہی تھی۔ اس نے میری طرف دیکھا اور کہا : کیا تو مکہ میں ہمارا چرواہا نہیں تھا اسی اثناء میں اس کی تلوار گرگئی۔ میں نے اس کو پکڑ لیا اور اس کو اس کی تلوار سے قتل کردیا۔ پھر میں جلدی جلدی آیا اور آپ کو خبر دی تو آپ نے فرمایا : کیا تو نے اس کو قتل کیا ہے ؟ میں نے کہا : ہاں تو آپ نے مجھ سے تین قسمیں لیں۔ میں نے قسمیں دیں۔ آپ نے کہا : چلو مجھے اس کو دکھاؤ۔ آپ نکلے تو میں نے ان کو دکھایا تو آپ نے فرمایا : یہ اس امت کا فرعون ہے۔
(18014) Abdullah (rz) kehte hain : mein Abu Jahal ke paas aaya, woh maqtoolin mein neem murda para tha. Mere paas purani talwar thi. Maine usko apni talwar se marna shuru kardiya woh kuchh nahin kar rahi thi. Usne meri taraf dekha aur kaha : kya tu Makkah mein hamara charwaha nahin tha isi asna mein uski talwar gir gayi. Maine usko pakad liya aur usko uski talwar se qatal kardiya. Phir mein jaldi jaldi aaya aur aapko khabar di to aapne farmaya : kya tune usko qatal kiya hai ? Maine kaha : haan to aapne mujhse teen qasmein lein. Maine qasmein dein. Aapne kaha : chalo mujhe usko dikhaao. Aap nikle to maine unko dikhaya to aapne farmaya : yeh is ummat ka Firaun hai.
Bara bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that on the day of the battle of Yamama, I encountered a powerful man who was known as the Donkey of Yamama. He had a fine sword in his hand. I struck at his legs, as if I had made a mistake. His legs were cut off and he fell on his backside. I grabbed his sword and placed my own sword in the middle. I killed him with a single blow. Then I threw away his sword and took my own sword.

(١٨٠١٥) حضرت براء بن مالک (رض) فرماتے ہیں کہ مسیلمہ سے لڑائی کے دن میں ایک طاقتور آدمی سے ملا جس کو یمامہ کا گدھا کہا جاتا تھا۔ اس کے ہاتھ میں عمدہ تلوار تھی۔ میں نے اس کی ٹانگوں پر مارا گویا کہ مجھ سے خطا ہوگئی۔ اس کی ٹانگیں اکھڑ گئیں اور وہ گدی کے بل گرگیا۔ میں نے اس کی تلوار کو پکڑا اور اپنی تلوار کو میان میں رکھا میں اس کو ایک ہی وار سے قتل کردیا پھر میں نے اس کی تلوار کو پھنک دیا اور میں نے اپنی تلوار پکڑ لی۔
18015 Hazrat Bara bin Malik (RA) farmate hain keh Musailama se larai ke din mein ek taqatwar aadmi se mila jis ko Yamama ka gadha kaha jata tha. Uske hath mein umda talwar thi. Maine uski tango par mara goya keh mujh se khata hogayi. Uski tangain ukhad gayin aur woh gadhi ke bal gir gaya. Maine uski talwar ko pakra aur apni talwar ko miyan mein rakha mein us ko ek hi war se qatal kar diya phir maine uski talwar ko phenk diya aur maine apni talwar pakad li.
