Chapter: Fulfilling the covenant if the contract is valid, and what is mentioned of strictness in breaching it
باب الوفاء بالعهد إذا كان العقد مباحا وما ورد من التشديد في نقضه
Sunan al-Kubra Bayhaqi 18845
Abdullah bin Umar (RA) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Whoever possesses these four characteristics is a hypocrite, and whoever possesses one of them possesses a characteristic of hypocrisy until he abandons it: When he speaks, he lies; when he makes a promise, he breaks it; when he makes a covenant, he betrays it; and when he disputes, he resorts to obscene insults."

(١٨٨٤٥) حضرت عبداللہ بن عمر (رض) فرماتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : جس شخص میں چار خصلتیں ہوں وہ پکا منافق ہے اور جس میں ایک علامت ہوئی اس میں نفاق کی علامت ہے، یہاں تک کہ اس کو چھوڑ دے۔ جب بات کرے تو جھوٹ بولے، جب وعدہ کرے تو خلاف ورزی کرے، جو معاہدہ کرے اسے توڑ ڈالے، جب لڑائی کرے تو جھگڑا کرے۔
Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar (RA) farmate hain ki Rasul Allah (SAW) ne farmaya: Jis shakhs mein chaar khuslatiyan hon wo pakka munafiq hai aur jis mein ek alamat hui us mein nifaq ki alamat hai, yahan tak ki us ko chhor de. Jab baat kare to jhoot bole, jab wada kare to khilaf warzi kare, jo muahida kare use tor dale, jab larai kare to jhagda kare.
Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: A flag will be raised on the back of a deceitful person and it will be said: This is the treachery of so-and-so. In the narration of Malik, it is stated that on the Day of Resurrection, a flag will be raised on his back (saying) that this is the treachery of so-and-so.

(١٨٨٤٦) حضرت عبداللہ بن عمر (رض) فرماتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : دھوکا باز انسان کی پشت پر جھنڈا نصب کیا جائے گا اور کہا جائے گا۔ یہ فلاں کی خیانت ہے، مالک کی روایات میں ہے کہ قیامت کے دن اس کی پشت پر جھنڈا نصب کیا جائے گا کہ یہ فلاں کی خیانت ہے۔
(18846) Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar (RA) farmate hain keh Rasul Allah (SAW) ne farmaya: Dhoka baz insan ki pusht par jhanda nasab kiya jayega aur kaha jayega. Yeh falan ki khiyanat hai, Malik ki riwayat mein hai keh qayamat ke din uski pusht par jhanda nasab kiya jayega keh yeh falan ki khiyanat hai.
A man from Salim bin Amir al-Himyari reported that there was a treaty between Mu'awiya (may Allah be pleased with him) and the Romans. The leader Mu'awiya (may Allah be pleased with him) marched towards their cities so that when the treaty expired, he could attack them. A man came riding a horse. He was saying: "Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, fulfill the treaty, do not betray it." When they looked, it was Amr ibn Absa. So Mu'awiya (may Allah be pleased with him) sent a man to ask him. He said: “I heard from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), 'When you have a treaty with a people, do not reinforce it nor terminate it until its term has expired or you terminate the treaty in a just manner.'"

(١٨٨٤٧) سلیم بن عامر حمیر کا ایک شخص بیان کرتا ہے کہ حضرت معاویہ (رض) اور رومیوں کے درمیان عہد تھا۔ امیر معاویہ (رض) ان کے شہروں کی طرف چلتے تاکہ جب عہد کی مدت ختم ہو تو ان پر حملہ کردیں۔ ایک شخص گھوڑے پر سوار ہو کر آیا۔ وہ کہہ رہا تھا : اللہ بہت بڑا ہے، اللہ بہت بڑا ہے ، عہد کو پورا کرو دھوکا نہ دو ، انھوں نے دیکھا تو وہ عمرو بن عبسہ تھے تو معاویہ (رض) نے آدمی بھیج کر پوچھا تو اس نے کہا : میں نے رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) سے سنا ہے ، جب آپ اور کسی قوم کے درمیان عہد ہو تو اسے مزید پختہ یا ختم نہ کریں، جب تک مدت ختم نہ ہوجائے یا برابری پر عہد کو ختم کردیں۔
(18847) Saleem bin Aamir Humair ka aik shakhs bayan karta hai keh Hazrat Muawiya (Raz) aur Romiyon ke darmiyan ahd tha. Ameer Muawiya (Raz) un ke shehron ki taraf chalte taake jab ahd ki muddat khatam ho to un per hamla kar den. Aik shakhs ghore per sawar ho kar aaya. Woh keh raha tha: Allah bahut bada hai, Allah bahut bada hai, ahd ko poora karo dhoka na do, unhon ne dekha to woh Amr bin Abasa the to Muawiya (Raz) ne aadmi bhej kar poocha to us ne kaha: mein ne Rasool Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) se suna hai, jab aap aur kisi qaum ke darmiyan ahd ho to use mazeed pakka ya khatam na karen, jab tak muddat khatam na ho jaye ya barabari per ahd ko khatam kar den.
Abu Bakrah narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whoever kills a person with whom a treaty has been made, without verifying (his crime), then Allah has forbidden Paradise for him.”

(١٨٨٤٩) ابو بکرہ فرماتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : جس نے کسی معاہدہ کو بغیر تحقیق کے قتل کردیا، اللہ اس پر جنت کو حرام کردیں گے۔
(18849) Abu Bakrah farmate hain keh Rasul Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne farmaya: Jis ne kisi muahida ko baghair tehqeeq ke qatl kardiya, Allah uss par jannat ko haram kar denge.
Abdullah bin Buraidah (RA) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: "In a nation that breaks its promise/treaty, there will be widespread killing. And in a nation where evil becomes widespread, there will be widespread poverty. And upon a nation that does not pay Zakat, rain will not fall."

(١٨٨٥٠) حضرت عبداللہ بن بریدہ (رض) فرماتے ہیں رسول اللہ نے فرمایا : جو قوم عہد کو توڑتی ہے، ان میں قتل عام ہوجاتا ہے اور جس قوم میں برائی عام ہوجائے ان میں برکتیں عام ہوتی ہیں اور جو قوم زکوۃ ادا نہیں کرتی، ان پر بارشیں نہیں ہوتی۔
Hazrat Abdullah bin Buraidah (RA) farmate hain Rasool Allah ne farmaya: Jo qaum ahd ko torti hai, un mein qatl aam hojata hai aur jis qaum mein burai aam hojaye un mein barkaten aam hoti hain aur jo qaum zakat ada nahi karti, un par barishen nahi hoti.
(18851) Hazrat Anas (RA) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) advised us in a sermon, saying, "The one who is not trustworthy has no faith, and the one who does not fulfill his promises has no religion."

(١٨٨٥١) حضرت انس (رض) فرماتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے ہمیں خطبہ ارشاد فرمایا کہ جو شخص امانت دار نہیں اس کا ایمان نہیں اور جو وعدہ کی پاسداری نہیں کرتا اس کا دین نہیں۔
(18851) Hazrat Anas (RA) farmate hain ke Rasool Allah (SAW) ne humain khutba irshad farmaya ke jo shakhs amanat daar nahi us ka imaan nahi aur jo waada ki pasdaari nahi karta us ka deen nahi.
