Chapter on the evidence that the Prophet's Sa' was equivalent to five uqiyyahs and one third.
باب ما دل على أن صاع النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم كان عياره خمسة أرطال وثلث.
Sunan al-Kubra Bayhaqi 7720
Abu Ahmad Muhammad bin Abdul Wahhab (7720) narrates: I heard from my father, Yusuf asked Imam Malik about the Sa'a (a unit of measurement) in the presence of the Amir al-Mu'minin (leader of the believers), "How many Ratls (another unit of weight) are there in a Sa'a?". He (Imam Malik) replied, "According to us, the Sunnah (tradition of Prophet Muhammad) is that there are no Ratls in a Sa'a." and left him speechless with this answer. Abu Ahmad said: I heard Hussain bin Walid narrating that Abu Yusuf said, "When I came to Medina and gathered the sons of the companions of the Prophet and asked them to bring all the Sa'as, then they all started narrating the Hadith of their Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that 'This is that Sa'a'. Then I found all the Sa'as to be equal. Then I abandoned the saying of Abu Hanifa and turned towards this (the Hadith).

(٧٧٢٠) ابو احمد محمد بن عبد الوھاب فرماتے ہیں : میں نے اپنے والد سے سنا، یوسف نے امام مالک سے امیر المؤمنین کے پاس پوچھا کہ صاع کتنے رطل کا ہوتا ہے ؟ تو انھوں نے فرمایا کہ ہمارے نزدیک سنت یہ ہے کہ صاع کے رطل نہیں ہوتے اور اسے یہ جواب دے کر لاجواب کردیا ۔ ابو احمد فرماتے ہیں : میں حسین بن ولید کو فرماتے ہوئے سنا کہ ابو یوسف نے فرمایا : جب میں مدینے آیا اور اصحاب رسول کے بیٹوں کو جمع کیا اور ان سے تمام صاع منگوائے تو وہ سب کے سب اپنے رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کی حدیث نقل فرمانے لگے کہ یہی وہ صاع ہے تو میں نے ان سب کے صاع کو برابر پایا۔ پھر میں نے ابوحنیفہ کے قول کو ترک کردیا اور اس کی طرف رجوع کرلیا۔
(7720) Abu Ahmad Muhammad bin Abdul Wahab farmate hain : maine apne walid se suna, Yusuf ne Imam Malik se Ameerul Momineen ke paas poocha ke saa kitne ratl ka hota hai ? to unhon ne farmaya ke hamare nazdeek sunnat yeh hai ke saa ke ratl nahin hote aur ise yeh jawab dekar lajawab kardiya . Abu Ahmad farmate hain : main Husain bin Waleed ko farmate huye suna ke Abu Yusuf ne farmaya : jab main Madine aaya aur Ashab Rasul ke beton ko jama kiya aur unse tamam saa mangwaye to wo sab ke sab apne Rasulullah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ki hadees naqal farmane lage ke yahi wo saa hai to maine un sab ke saa ko barabar paya. phir maine Abu Hanifa ke qaul ko tark kardiya aur iski taraf rujoo karliya.
٧٧٢٠ - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ الْحِمْيَرِيُّ، ثنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ مَنْصُورٍ، ثنا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ،قَالَ:سَمِعْتُ أَبِي يَقُولُ: سَأَلَ أَبُو يُوسُفَ مَالِكًا عِنْدَ أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنْينَ عَنِ الصَّاعِ، كَمْ هُوَ رِطْلًا؟قَالَ:السُّنَّةُ عِنْدَنَا أَنَّ الصَّاعَ لَا يُرْطَلُ، فَفَحَمَهُ،قَالَ أَبُو أَحْمَدَ:سَمِعْتُ الْحُسَيْنَ بْنَ الْوَلِيدِ يَقُولُ: قَالَ أَبُو يُوسُفَ:" فَقَدِمْتُ الْمَدِينَةَ فَجَمَعْنَا أَبْنَاءَ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَدَعَوْتُ بِصَاعَاتِهِمْ، فَكُلٌّ حَدَّثَنِي عَنْ آبَائِهِمْ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّ هَذَا صَاعُهُ فَقَدَّرْتُهَا فَوَجَدْتُهَا مُسْتَوِيَةً، فَتَرَكْتُ قَوْلَ أَبِي حَنِيفَةَ، وَرَجَعْتُ إِلَى هَذَا "
