Sahih Ibn Khuzaymah 1456
Narrated Sayyiduna Buraida (may Allah be pleased with him): While the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was delivering a sermon on the pulpit, (his grandsons) Hasan and Husayn (may Allah be pleased with them both) came walking and stumbling. They were both wearing red shirts. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) got down (from the pulpit) and lifted them both. Then he said, "Allah has spoken the truth: 'Your wealth and your children are only a trial...' (8:28). Indeed, I saw these two (boys) walking and stumbling, and I could not bear it until I came down and lifted them." In the narration of Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him) reported by Zayd ibn Hubab, it is added: "So I could not help but come down." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) resumed his sermon.

سیدنا بریدہ رضی اللہ عنہ بیان کہتے ہیں کہ اس دوران جبکہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم منبر پر تشریف فرما ہوکر خطبہ ارشاد فرما رہے تھے۔ سیدنا حسن اور حسین رضی اللہ عنہما چلتے اور گرتے ہوئے (مسجد میں) آئے۔ اُن دونوں نے سرخ رنگ کی قمیص پہن رکھی تھی، تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم (منبر سے) اُترے اور آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اُن دونوں کو اُٹھا لیا، پھر فرمایا: ”اللہ تعالیٰ نے سچ فرمایا ہے «أَنَّمَا أَمْوَالُكُمْ وَأَوْلَادُكُمْ فِتْنَةٌ» [ سورة الأنفال: 28 ] ”بیشک تمہارے مال اور تمہاری اولاد آزمائش کا باعث ہے۔“ بیشک میں نے ان دو بچّوں کو چلتے ہوئے گرتے ہوئے دیکھا تو مجھ سے صبر نہ ہو سکا حتّیٰ کہ میں نے نیچے اُتر کر انہیں اُٹھالیا۔ زید بن حباب کے واسطے سے جناب حسین کی روایت میں ہے، ”تو میں صبر نہ کرسکا۔“ پھر آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اپنا خطبہ دوبارہ شروع کر دیا۔

Sayyidina Hasan aur Hussain Radi Allahu Anhuma chalte aur girte huye (masjid mein) aaye. Un donon ne surkh rang ki qameez pehen rakhi thi, to Rasool Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam (mimbar se) utre aur Aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne un donon ko utha liya, phir farmaya: "Allah Ta'ala ne sach farmaya hai «أَنَّمَا أَمْوَالُكُمْ وَأَوْلَادُكُمْ فِتْنَةٌ» [ Surah al-Anfal: 28 ] "beshak tumhare maal aur tumhari aulad aazmaish ka baais hai." Beshak maine in do bachchon ko chalte huye girte huye dekha to mujh se sabar na ho saka hattay ki maine neeche utar kar unhen utha liya. Zaid bin Habbab ke waste se janab Hussain ki riwayat mein hai, "to main sabar na kar saka." Phir Aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne apna khutba dobara shuru kar diya.
نَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الأَشَجُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو ثُمَيْلَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ وَاقِدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ بُرَيْدَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ: بَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ يَخْطُبُ إِذْ أَقْبَلَ الْحَسَنُ، وَالْحُسَيْنُ يَمْشِيَانِ وَيَعْثُرَانِ، عَلَيْهِمَا قَمِيصَانِ أَحْمَرَانِ، قَالَ: فَنَزَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَحَمَلَهُمَا، ثُمَّ قَالَ: " صَدَقَ اللَّهُ إِنَّمَا أَمْوَالُكُمْ وَأَوْلادُكُمْ فِتْنَةٌ، إِنِّي رَأَيْتُ هَذَيْنِ الْغُلامَيْنِ يَمْشِيَانِ وَيَعْثُرَانِ، فَلَمْ أَصْبِرْ حَتَّى نَزَلْتُ وَحَمَلْتُهُمَا"، ثناهُ عَبْدَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْخُزَاعِيُّ ، أَخْبَرَنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ ، عَنْ حُسَيْنٍ ، وَقَالَ:" فَلَمْ أَصْبِرْ"، ثُمَّ أَخَذَ فِي خُطْبَتِهِ
