On the Abundance of Seeking Forgiveness and Repentance
فِي كَثْرَةِ الِاسْتِغْفَارِ وَالتَّوْبَةِ
Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah 35071
It is narrated on the authority of Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "I seek forgiveness from Allah Almighty a hundred times each day."
حضرت ابوہریرہ (رض) سے روایت ہے وہ کہتے ہیں کہ جناب رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے ارشاد فرمایا : ” میں ہر دن اللہ تعالیٰ سے سو مرتبہ توبہ اور استغفار کرتا ہوں۔
Hazrat Abu Hurairah (RA) se riwayat hai woh kehte hain keh Janab Rasool Allah (SAW) ne irshad farmaya: "Main har din Allah Ta'ala se sau martaba toba aur istighfar karta hun."
Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "O people! Repent to your Lord, for I repent to Him a hundred times a day."
حضرت ابن عمر (رض) حدیث بیان کرتے ہیں کہ جناب رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے ارشاد فرمایا : ” اے لوگو ! اپنے پروردگار سے توبہ کرو۔ کیونکہ میں بھی اس سے ایک دن سو مرتبہ توبہ کرتا ہوں۔
Hazrat Ibn Umar (RA) Hadith bayan karte hain keh Janab Rasul Allah (SAW) ne irshad farmaya : ” Aye logo ! Apne Parwardigaar se tauba karo. Kyunke mein bhi is se ek din so martaba tauba karta hun.
It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Umar (RA) that he said that if in one sitting with the Holy Prophet (PBUH), it was counted how many times you (PBUH) said, "O my Lord! Forgive me and accept my repentance. Indeed, You are the Acceptor of repentance, Most Forgiving." It would have been counted a hundred times.
حضرت ابن عمر (رض) سے روایت ہے وہ کہتے ہیں کہ اگر جناب رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) سے ایک ہی مجلس میں یہ بات شمار کی جاتی کہ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) فرماتے تھے : ” اے میرے پروردگار ! تو مجھے معاف کردے اور میری توبہ قبول فرما۔ بیشک تو توبہ قبول کرنے والا، معاف کرنے والا ہے۔ تو یہ سو مرتبہ شمار ہوتی۔
Hazrat Ibn Umar (RA) se riwayat hai woh kehte hain ki agar Janab Rasul Allah (SAW) se ek hi majlis mein yeh baat shumaar ki jati ki aap (SAW) farmate thy "Aye mere parvardigaar! Tu mujhe maaf karde aur meri tauba qubool farma. Beshak tu tauba qubool karne wala, maaf karne wala hai" to yeh 100 martaba shumaar hoti.
An Ansar companion narrates that I heard the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say a hundred times after every prayer: 'O Allah! Accept my repentance and forgive me, indeed You are the Acceptor of repentance, the Forgiving.'
ایک انصاری صحابی بیان کرتے ہیں کہ میں نے جناب رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کو ہر نماز کے بعد سو مرتبہ یہ کہتے سنا : ” اے اللہ ! تو میری توبہ قبول فرما اور تو مجھے معاف کردے بیشک تو توبہ قبول کرنے والا معاف کرنے والا ہے۔
Ek Ansaari sahabi bayan karte hain ke maine Janaab Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ko har namaz ke baad sau martaba ye kehte suna: "Aye Allah! Tu meri tauba qubool farma aur tu mujhe maaf karde beshak tu tauba qubool karne wala maaf karne wala hai."
"Hazrat Saeed bin Abi Burda narrated from his father, from his grandfather, who said: 'We were sitting when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came and said: "I have never seen a morning but that I have sought forgiveness from Allah a hundred times."'
حضرت سعید بن ابی بردہ، اپنے والد، اپنے دادا سے روایت کرتے ہیں کہ انھوں نے فرمایا : ہم بیٹھے ہوئے تھے کہ جناب رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) تشریف لائے اور فرمایا : ” میں نے کسی دن صبح نہیں کی مگر یہ کہ میں نے سو مرتبہ اللہ سے استغفار کیا ہے۔
Hazrat Saeed bin Abi Burda apne walid apne dada se riwayat karte hain ki unhon ne farmaya: Hum baithe hue the ki Janaab Rasul Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) tashreef laaye aur farmaya: “Main ne kisi din subah nahin ki magar ye ki main ne sau martaba Allah se istighfar kiya hai.
It is narrated on the authority of Abdullah bin Shuqaiq that he said: Abu Ad-Darda' (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say: "Glad tidings are for the one in whose record of deeds some istighfar (seeking forgiveness) is found."
حضرت عبداللہ بن شقیق سے روایت ہے وہ کہتے ہیں کہ حضرت ابوالدرداء (رض) فرمایا کرتے تھے۔ خوشخبری ہے اس آدمی کے لیے جس کے صحیفہ میں کچھ استغفار پایا جائے۔
Hazrat Abdullah bin Shaqeek se riwayat hai woh kehte hain ke Hazrat Abu Ad-Darda (RA) farmaya karte the Khushkhabri hai us aadmi ke liye jiske sahifa mein kuch istighfar paya jaye
It is narrated from Hazrat Hasan that he said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Indeed, Allah Almighty accepts the repentance of His servant as long as he does not repeat it."
حضرت حسن سے روایت ہے وہ کہتے ہیں کہ جناب رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے ارشاد فرمایا : ” بیشک اللہ تعالیٰ اپنے بندہ کی توبہ تب تک قبول فرماتے ہیں جب تک وہ دوبارہ نہیں کرتا۔
Hazrat Hassan se riwayat hai woh kehte hain ke janab rasool Allah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) ne irshad farmaya: "Beshak Allah ta'ala apne banda ki tauba tab tak kabool farmate hain jab tak woh dobara nahin karta."
It is narrated from Hadrat Huzaifa that he said: I complained to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) about the sharpness of my tongue, so you (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Where are you from seeking forgiveness? I seek forgiveness from Allah a hundred times a day.
حضرت حذیفہ سے روایت ہے وہ کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے جناب نبی کریم (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) سے اپنی زبان کی تیزی کی شکایت کی تو آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : ” تم استغفار سے کہاں ہو ؟ میں تو ہر دن اللہ سے سو مرتبہ استغفار کرتا ہوں۔
Hazrat Huzaifa se riwayat hai woh kehte hain keh maine janab nabi kareem (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) se apni zuban ki tezi ki shikayat ki toh aap (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) ne farmaya: "Tum istighfar se kahan ho? Main toh har din Allah se so martaba istighfar karta hun."
It is narrated on the authority of Hadrat Abu Saeed Khudri that he said that whoever says Astaghfirullah-alladhi laa ilaaha illaa huwal-hayyul-qayyoomu wa atoobu ilaih (I seek forgiveness from Allah, besides Whom there is no god, the Ever-Living, the Self-Subsisting, and I turn to Him in repentance) five times, he will be forgiven, even if his sins are equivalent to the foam of the sea.
حضرت ابوسعید خدری سے روایت ہے وہ کہتے ہیں کہ جو شخص أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّہَ الَّذِی لاَ إلَہَ إِلاَّ ہُوَ الْحَیُّ الْقَیُّومُ وَأَتُوبُ إلَیْہِ پانچ مرتبہ کہتا ہے تو اس کی مغفرت کردی جاتی ہے۔ اگرچہ اس کے گناہ سمندر کی جھاگ کے برابر ہوں۔
