It is narrated on the authority of Hazrat Zuhri that I heard Anas bin Malik saying that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) fell from a horse and your (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) right side was injured. We came to visit you and during that time the time for prayer came, you (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) led us in prayer while sitting and we prayed behind you (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) while sitting.
Then when the prayer was completed, you (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: The Imam is appointed so that he may be followed. So when the Imam says Takbir, you say Takbir. And when he bows, you bow. And when the Imam prostrates, you prostrate. And when the Imam raises his head, you raise your head. And when the Imam says Sami Allahu Liman Hamidah, you say Rabbana Lakal Hamd. And if the Imam prays sitting, you all pray sitting.
حضرت زہری سے منقول ہے کہ میں نے انس بن مالک کو کہتے ہوئے سُنا کہ نبی پاک (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) گھوڑے سے گرپڑے اور آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کی دائیں جانب میں رگڑ آگئی۔ ہم آپ کی عیادت کے لیے آپ کے پاس حاضر ہوئے اس دوران نماز کا وقت آگیا، آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے ہمیں بیٹھ کر نماز پڑھائی اور ہم نے آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کی اقتدا میں بیٹھ کر نماز پڑھی۔
پس جب نماز پوری ہوگئی تو آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا ۔ امام اس لیے متعین کیا جاتا ہے تاکہ اس کی اقتدا کی جائے۔ پس جب امام تکبیر کہے تو تم تکبیر کہو۔ اور جب رکوع کرے تو تم رکوع کرو۔ اور جب امام سجدہ کرے تو تم سجدہ کرو۔ اور جب امام سر اٹھائے تو تم سر اٹھاؤ۔ اور جب امام سَمِعَ اللَّہُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَہُ کہے تو تم اللَّہُمَّ رَبَّنَا وَلَک الْحَمْدُ کہو۔ اور اگر امام بیٹھ کر نماز پڑھے تو تم سب بیٹھ کر نماز پڑھو۔
Hazrat Zahri se manqol hai keh maine Anas bin Malik ko kehte huye suna keh Nabi Pak (SAW) ghore se gir pare aur aap (SAW) ki dayen janib mein ragar aa gayi. Hum aap ki ayadat ke liye aap ke pass hazir huye is doran namaz ka waqt aa gaya, aap (SAW) ne hamein baith kar namaz parhayi aur hum ne aap (SAW) ki iqtida mein baith kar namaz parhi. Pas jab namaz poori ho gayi to aap (SAW) ne farmaya. Imam is liye mutaeen kiya jata hai taakeh uski iqtida ki jaye. Pas jab imam takbeer kahe to tum takbeer kaho. Aur jab ruku kare to tum ruku karo. Aur jab imam sajdah kare to tum sajdah karo. Aur jab imam sar uthaye to tum sar uthao. Aur jab imam Sami Allahu Liman Hamidah kahe to tum Allahumma Rabbana Walakal Hamd kaho. Aur agar imam baith kar namaz parhe to tum sab baith kar namaz parho.
Hazrat Aisha narrates that when the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) fell ill, some of the Companions came to visit you (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). You (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) sat down and offered prayer while they offered prayer behind you (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) while standing. Then you (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) gestured them to sit down. So they sat down. Then when you (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) finished the prayer, you said: The Imam is made to be followed. So when he bows down, you too should bow down. And when he raises his head, you too should raise your head. And when he prays sitting down, you too should pray sitting down.
حضرت عائشہ فرماتی ہیں کہ نبی پاک (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کو کوئی بیماری لاحق ہوگئی تو صحابہ کرام میں سے کچھ لوگ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کی عیادت کرنے کے لیے حاضر ہوئے ۔ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے بیٹھ کر نماز پڑھی جبکہ ان لوگوں نے آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کی اقتدا میں کھڑے ہو کر نماز پڑھی۔ تو آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے انھیں بیٹھنے کا اشارہ فرمایا۔ پس وہ لوگ بیٹھ گئے۔ پھر جب آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نماز سے فارغ ہوگئے تو ارشاد فرمایا۔ امام اسی لیے بنایا جاتا ہے کہ اس کی اقتدا کی جائے ۔ پس جب وہ رکوع کرے تو تم بھی رکوع کرو۔ اور جب وہ سر اٹھائے تو تم بھی سر اٹھاؤ۔ اور جب وہ بیٹھ کر نماز پڑھے تو تم بھی بیٹھ کر نماز پڑھو۔
Hazrat Ayesha farmati hain keh Nabi Pak (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ko koi bimari la-hik hogayi to Sahaba Kiram mein se kuch log aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ki ayadat karne ke liye hazir huye. Aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne baith kar namaz parha jabke un logon ne aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ki iqtida mein khade ho kar namaz parha. To aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne unhen baithne ka ishara farmaya. Pas wo log baith gaye. Phir jab aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) namaz se farigh huye to irshad farmaya. Imam isi liye banaya jata hai keh uski iqtida ki jaye. Pas jab wo rukuh kare to tum bhi rukuh karo. Aur jab wo sar uthaye to tum bhi sar uthao. Aur jab wo baith kar namaz parhe to tum bhi baith kar namaz parho.
Hazrat Jabir narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) fell from his horse and fell on a date palm trunk and your (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) blessed feet were swollen. The narrator says: We went to visit you (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and you (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) were sitting in the drinking place of Hazrat Aisha and offering prayers. We offered prayers behind you (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) while we were standing, then we went to your (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) service for the second time and you (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) were sitting and offering prayers. We started offering prayers behind you (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) while standing, then you (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) gestured us to sit down. So when you (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) finished offering prayers, you said: The imam is made so that he can be followed, so when he offers prayers standing, then you too should offer prayers standing, and when he offers prayers sitting, then you too should offer prayers sitting. Do not stand while the imam is sitting, as the Persians do with their elders.
حضرت جابر بیان کرتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) اپنے گھوڑے سے گرپڑے اور کھجور کے تنے پر گرے اور آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے قدم مبارک سوج گئے۔ راوی کہتے ہیں : ہم آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کی عیادت کے لیے آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے ہاں حاضر ہوئے تو آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) حضرت عائشہ کے مشربہ میں بیٹھ کر نماز پڑھ رہے تھے۔ ہم نے آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کی اقتدا میں نماز پڑھی درآنحالیکہ ہم کھڑے تھے پھر ہم دوسری مرتبہ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوئے اور آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) بیٹھ کر نماز پڑھ رہے تھے۔ ہم نے آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کی اقتدا میں کھڑے ہو کر نماز پر ھنا شروع کی تو آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے ہمیں بیٹھنے کا اشارہ فرمایا۔ پس جب آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نماز پڑھ چکے تو ارشاد فرمایا : امام اسی لیے بنایا جاتا ہے کہ اس کی اقتدا کی جائے، سو جب وہ کھڑے ہو کر نماز پڑھے تو تم بھی کھڑے ہو کر نماز پڑھو اور جب وہ بیٹھ کر نماز پڑھے تو تم بھی بیٹھ کر نماز پڑھو۔ امام بیٹھا ہو تو تم کھڑے نہ ہو جیسا کہ اہل فارس اپنے بڑوں کے ساتھ کرتے ہیں۔
Hazrat Jabir bayan karte hain keh Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) apne ghore se gir pade aur khajoor ke tane par gire aur aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ke qadam mubarak sooj gaye. Rawi kehte hain: Hum aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ki ayadat ke liye aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ke han hazir huye to aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) Hazrat Aisha ke mushrabah mein beth kar namaz parh rahe the. Hum ne aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ki iqtida mein namaz parhi daranhaalikeh hum khare the phir hum doosri martaba aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ki khidmat mein hazir huye aur aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) beth kar namaz parh rahe the. Hum ne aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ki iqtida mein khare ho kar namaz parhna shuru ki to aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne humein bethne ka ishara farmaya. Pas jab aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) namaz parh chuke to irshad farmaya: Imam isi liye banaya jata hai keh uski iqtida ki jaye, so jab wo khare ho kar namaz parhe to tum bhi khare ho kar namaz parho aur jab wo beth kar namaz parhe to tum bhi beth kar namaz parho. Imam betha ho to tum khare na ho jaisa keh ahl Faris apne baron ke sath karte hain.
Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "The Imam is appointed to be followed, so when he says Takbeer, you say Takbeer, and when the Imam recites, you remain silent, and when the Imam says { غير المغضوب عليهم ولا الضالين } you say Ameen. And when the Imam bows, you bow, and when the Imam says سمع الله لمن حمده, you say: اللهم ربنا ولك الحمد. And when the Imam prostrates, you prostrate. And when the Imam prays sitting, you pray sitting."
And it has been narrated from (Imam) Abu Hanifa that: "It is not permissible to follow (by sitting) when the Imam is sitting."
حضرت ابوہریرہ بیان فرماتے ہیں کہ نبی کریم (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے ارشاد فرمایا : امام اسی لیے بنایا جاتا ہے کہ اس کی اقتداء کی جائے، پس جب وہ تکبیر کہے تو تم تکبیر کہو اور جب امام قراءت کرے تو تم خاموش رہو، اور جب امام { غَیْرِ الْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَیْہِمْ ، وَلاَ الضَّالِّینَ } کہے تو تم آمین کہو۔ اور جب امام رکوع کرے تو تم رکوع کرو اور جب امام سَمِعَ اللَّہُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَہُ کہے تو تم کہو۔ اللَّہُمَّ رَبَّنَا وَلَک الْحَمْدُ اور جب امام سجدہ کرے تو تم سجدہ کرو ۔ اور جب امام بیٹھ کر نماز پڑھے تو تم بیٹھ کر نماز پڑھو۔
اور (امام) ابوحنیفہ کا قول یہ ذکر کیا گیا ہے کہ : امام بیٹھا ہو تو اس کی اقتدا (میں بیٹھنا) درست نہیں ہے۔
Hazrat Abu Huraira bayan farmate hain keh Nabi Kareem (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne irshad farmaya: Imam isi liye banaya jata hai keh uski iqtida ki jaye, pas jab wo takbeer kahe to tum takbeer kaho aur jab imam qirat kare to tum khamosh raho, aur jab imam { ghairil maghzubi alaihim wala الضَّالِّینَ } kahe to tum ameen kaho. Aur jab imam ruku kare to tum ruku karo aur jab imam samiallahu liman hamidah kahe to tum kaho. Allahumma rabbana walakal hamd aur jab imam sajda kare to tum sajda karo. Aur jab imam baith kar namaz parhe to tum baith kar namaz parho.
Aur (imam) Abu Hanifa ka qaul yeh zikar kiya gaya hai keh: Imam baitha ho to uski iqtida (mein baithna) durust nahi hai.
