What they said about when victory comes and the governor is given the good news, should he prostrate in gratitude.
مَا قَالُوا فِي الْفَتْحِ يَأْتِي فَيُبَشِّرُ بِهِ الْوَالِي فَيَسْجُدُ سَجْدَةَ الشُّكْرِ

Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah 32853
Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Auf (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) while you (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) were prostrating. So when you (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) finished, I said: O Messenger of Allah! You (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) prostrated for a long time. You (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: I prostrated to thank Allah that He accepted the excuse of my Ummah.
حضرت عبد الرحمن بن عوف (رض) فرماتے ہیں کہ میں نبی کریم (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے پاس آیا اس حال میں کہ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) سجدہ کر رہے تھے۔ پس جب آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) فارغ ہوئے تو میں نے کہا : اے اللہ کے رسول 5! آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے لمبا سجدہ کیا : آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : میں نے اللہ کا شکر ادا کرنے کے لیے سجدہ کیا کہ اس نے میری امت کے بارے میں عذر قبول فرمایا۔
Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Auf farmate hain ke main Nabi Kareem ke pass aya is hal mein ke aap sajde kar rahe the. Pas jab aap farigh huye to maine kaha: Aye Allah ke Rasool! Aap ne lamba sajde kiya. Aap ne farmaya: Maine Allah ka shukar ada karne ke liye sajde kiya ke usne meri ummat ke bare mein uzr qubool farmaya.
حَدَّثَنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ عُبَيْدَةَ ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ صَعْصَعَةَ ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ ، عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ قَالَ : " انْتَهَيْتُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ ، وَهُوَ سَاجِدٌ ، فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ قُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ : أَطَلْتَ السُّجُودَ ؟ قَالَ : « إِنِّي سَجَدْتُ شُكْرًا لِلَّهِ فِيمَا ابْتَلَانِي مِنْ أُمَّتِي »
