Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3607
Abbas bin Abdul-Muttalib (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated that he said, 'O Apostle of Allah ( صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم), indeed the Quraish have sat and spoken between themselves about the best of them, and they made your likeness as that of a palm tree in a wasteland.' So, the Prophet ( صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said, 'indeed, Allah created the creation and made me from the best of them, from the best of their categories, and the best of the two categories, then He chose between the tribes and made me from the best tribe, then He chose between the houses and made me from the best house. So, I am the best of them in person and the best of them in house.' Imam Tirmidhi said this Hadith is Hasan. And Abdullah bin Al-Harith (a narrator in the chain) is Ibn Naufal.

عباس بن عبدالمطلب رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے عرض کیا: اللہ کے رسول! قریش کے لوگ بیٹھے اور انہوں نے قریش میں اپنے حسب کا ذکر کیا تو آپ کی مثال کھجور کے ایک ایسے درخت سے دی جو کسی کوڑے خانہ پر ( اگا ) ہو تو نبی اکرم ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”اللہ تعالیٰ نے مخلوق کو پیدا کیا، اس نے اس میں سے دو گروہوں کو پسند کیا، اور مجھے ان میں سب سے اچھے گروہ ( یعنی اولاد اسماعیل ) میں پیدا کیا، پھر اس نے قبیلوں کو چنا اور مجھے بہتر قبیلے میں سے کیا، پھر گھروں کو چنا اور مجھے ان گھروں میں سب سے بہتر گھر میں کیا، تو میں ذاتی طور پر بھی ان میں سب سے بہتر ہوں اور گھرانے کے اعتبار سے بھی بہتر ہوں“۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: یہ حدیث حسن ہے۔
Abbas bin Abdul Mutalib (رضي الله تعالى عنه) kehte hain ke main ne arz kiya: Allah ke Rasool! Quraish ke log baithe aur unhon ne Quraish mein apne hasb ka zikr kiya to aap ki misaal khajoor ke aik aise darakht se di jo kisi kooday khane par (aga) ho to Nabi e Akram (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: “Allah Ta'ala ne makhluq ko peda kiya, is ne is mein se do gurouhon ko pasand kiya, aur mujhe in mein sab se achey gurouh (yani aulad Ismail) mein peda kiya, phir is ne qabilon ko chuna aur mujhe behtar qabile mein se kiya, phir gharon ko chuna aur mujhe in gharon mein sab se behtar ghar mein kiya, to main zati tor par bhi in mein sab se behtar hoon aur gharane ke itbar se bhi behtar hoon”۔ Imam Tirmidhi kehte hain: yeh hadees hasan hai.
حَدَّثَنَا يُوسُفُ بْنُ مُوسَى الْبَغْدَادِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُوسَى، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيل بْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي زِيَادٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ، عَنِ الْعَبَّاسِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ: إِنَّ قُرَيْشًا جَلَسُوا فَتَذَاكَرُوا أَحْسَابَهُمْ بَيْنَهُمْ فَجَعَلُوا مَثَلَكَ مَثَلَ نَخْلَةٍ فِي كَبْوَةٍ مِنَ الْأَرْضِ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: إِنَّ اللَّهَ خَلَقَ الْخَلْقَ، فَجَعَلَنِي مِنْ خَيْرِهِمْ مِنْ خَيْرِ فِرَقِهِمْ، وَخَيْرِ الْفَرِيقَيْنِ، ثُمَّ تَخَيَّرَ الْقَبَائِلَ فَجَعَلَنِي مِنْ خَيْرِ قَبِيلَةٍ، ثُمَّ تَخَيَّرَ الْبُيُوتَ فَجَعَلَنِي مِنْ خَيْرِ بُيُوتِهِمْ، فَأَنَا خَيْرُهُمْ نَفْسًا وَخَيْرُهُمْ بَيْتًا . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى: هَذَا حَسَنٌ وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ هُوَ ابْنُ نَوْفَلٍ.
