Chapter: Whoever Said That It Should Be Prayed With Four Rak'ahs

باب مَنْ قَالَ أَرْبَعُ رَكَعَاتٍ

Sunan Abi Dawud 1178

Jabir bin Abdullah (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated that there was an eclipse of the sun at the time when the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)’s son had died. The people began to say that there was an eclipse on account of the death of (Prophet’s ﷺ infant son) Ibrahim (عليه السالم). The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) stood up and led the people in prayer performing six bowings and four prostrations. He said, ‘Allah (جَلَّ ذُو) is most great’, and then recited from the Quran and prolonged the recitation. He then bowed nearly as long as he stood. He then raised his head and recited from the Quran but it was less than the first (recitation). He then bowed nearly as long as he stood. He then raised his head and then recited from the Quran for the third time, but it was less than the second recitation. He then bowed nearly as long as he stood. He then raised his head and then recited from the Quran for the third time, but it was less than the second recitation. He then bowed nearly as long as he stood. Then he raised his head and went down for prostration. He made two prostrations. He then stood and made three bowings before prostrating himself, the preceding bowing being lengthier than the following, but he bowed nearly as long as he stood. He then stepped back during the prayer and the rows (of the people) too stepped back along with him. Then he stepped forward and stood in his place, and the rows too stepped forward. He then finished the prayer and the sun had become bright. He said, ‘O people, the sun and the moon are two of Allah (جَلَّ ذُو) signs; they are not eclipsed on account of a man's death. So, when you see anything of that nature, offer prayer until the sun becomes bright’. The narrator then narrated the rest of the tradition.

جابر بن عبداللہ رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ کے زمانے میں سورج گرہن لگا، یہ اسی دن کا واقعہ ہے جس دن رسول اللہ ﷺ کے صاحبزادے ابراہیم کی وفات ہوئی، لوگ کہنے لگے کہ آپ کے صاحبزادے ابراہیم کی وفات کی وجہ سے سورج گرہن لگا ہے، نبی اکرم ﷺ کھڑے ہوئے اور لوگوں کو نماز ( کسوف ) پڑھائی، چار سجدوں میں چھ رکوع کیا ۱؎، اللہ اکبر کہا، پھر قرآت کی اور دیر تک قرآت کرتے رہے، پھر اتنی ہی دیر تک رکوع کیا جتنی دیر تک قیام کیا تھا، پھر رکوع سے سر اٹھایا اور پہلی قرآت کی بہ نسبت مختصر قرآت کی پھر اتنی ہی دیر تک رکوع کیا جتنی دیر تک قیام کیا تھا، پھر رکوع سے سر اٹھایا پھر تیسری قرآت کی جو دوسری قرآت کے بہ نسبت مختصر تھی اور اتنی دیر تک رکوع کیا جتنی دیر تک قیام کیا تھا، پھر رکوع سے سر اٹھایا، اس کے بعد سجدے کے لیے جھکے اور دو سجدے کئے، پھر کھڑے ہوئے اور سجدے سے پہلے تین رکوع کیے، ہر رکوع اپنے بعد والے سے زیادہ لمبا ہوتا تھا، البتہ رکوع قیام کے برابر ہوتا تھا۔ آپ ﷺ نماز میں پیچھے ہٹے تو صفیں بھی آپ کے ساتھ پیچھے ہٹیں، پھر آپ آگے بڑھے اور اپنی جگہ چلے گئے تو صفیں بھی آگے بڑھ گئیں پھر آپ نماز سے فارغ ہوئے تو سورج ( صاف ہو کر ) نکل چکا تھا۔ آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا: لوگو! سورج اور چاند اللہ تعالیٰ کی نشانیوں میں سے دو نشانیاں ہیں، کسی انسان کے مرنے کی وجہ سے ان میں گرہن نہیں لگتا، لہٰذا جب تم اس میں سے کچھ دیکھو تو نماز میں مشغول ہو جاؤ، یہاں تک کہ وہ صاف ہو کر روشن ہو جائے ، اور راوی نے بقیہ حدیث بیان کی۔

Jabir bin Abdullah ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a kehte hain ke Rasool Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke zamane mein suraj grahan laga, yeh usi din ka waqia hai jis din Rasool Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke sahibzada Ibrahim ki wafat hui, log kahne lage ke aap ke sahibzada Ibrahim ki wafat ki wajah se suraj grahan laga hai, Nabi Akram (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) khade hue aur logoon ko namaz ( kusuf ) padhai, chaar sajdoon mein chhe rukoo kia 1, Allah Akbar kaha, phir qirat ki aur dair tak qirat karte rahe, phir utni hi dair tak rukoo kia jitni dair tak qiyam kia tha, phir rukoo se sar uthaya aur pahli qirat ki bah nisbat mukhtasir qirat ki phir utni hi dair tak rukoo kia jitni dair tak qiyam kia tha, phir rukoo se sar uthaya phir teesri qirat ki jo dusri qirat ke bah nisbat mukhtasir thi aur utni hi dair tak rukoo kia jitni dair tak qiyam kia tha, phir rukoo se sar uthaya, is ke baad sajdi ke liye jhuke aur do sajdi kie, phir khade hue aur sajdi se pehle teen rukoo kie, har rukoo apne baad wale se zyada lamba hota tha, balke rukoo qiyam ke barabar hota tha. Aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) namaz mein pichhe hate to safain bhi aap ke sath pichhe hatin, phir aap aage badhe aur apni jagah chale gaye to safain bhi aage badh gain phir aap namaz se farigh hue to suraj ( saf ho kar ) nikal chuka tha. Aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: Logo! suraj aur chaand Allah Taala ki nishaniyon mein se do nishaniya hain, kisi insan ke marne ki wajah se in mein grahan nahi lagta, lehaza jab tum is mein se kuchh dekho to namaz mein mashghool ho jao, yahin tak ke woh saf ho kar roshan ho jaye, aur rawi ne baqi hadees bayan ki.

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَنْبَلٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنِي عَطَاءٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ كُسِفَتِ الشَّمْسُ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَكَانَ ذَلِكَ فِي الْيَوْمِ الَّذِي مَاتَ فِيهِ إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ النَّاسُ:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّمَا كُسِفَتْ لِمَوْتِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ابْنِهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَامَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَصَلَّى بِالنَّاسِ سِتَّ رَكَعَاتٍ فِي أَرْبَعِ سَجَدَاتٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏كَبَّرَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ قَرَأَ فَأَطَالَ الْقِرَاءَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ رَكَعَ نَحْوًا مِمَّا قَامَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ فَقَرَأَ دُونَ الْقِرَاءَةِ الْأُولَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ رَكَعَ نَحْوًا مِمَّا قَامَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ فَقَرَأَ الْقِرَاءَةَ الثَّالِثَةَ دُونَ الْقِرَاءَةِ الثَّانِيَةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ رَكَعَ نَحْوًا مِمَّا قَامَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ فَانْحَدَرَ لِلسُّجُودِ فَسَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيْنِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ قَامَ فَرَكَعَ ثَلَاثَ رَكَعَاتٍ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَسْجُدَ لَيْسَ فِيهَا رَكْعَةٌ إِلَّا الَّتِي قَبْلَهَا أَطْوَلُ مِنَ الَّتِي بَعْدَهَا إِلَّا أَنَّ رُكُوعَهُ نَحْوٌ مِنْ قِيَامِهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ ثُمَّ تَأَخَّرَ فِي صَلَاتِهِ فَتَأَخَّرَتِ الصُّفُوفُ مَعَهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ تَقَدَّمَ فَقَامَ فِي مَقَامِهِ وَتَقَدَّمَتِ الصُّفُوفُ فَقَضَى الصَّلَاةَ وَقَدْ طَلَعَتِ الشَّمْسُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏إِنَّ الشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ آيَتَانِ مِنْ آيَاتِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لَا يَنْكَسِفَانِ لِمَوْتِ بَشَرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُمْ شَيْئًا مِنْ ذَلِكَ فَصَلُّوا حَتَّى تَنْجَلِيَ . وَسَاقَ بَقِيَّةَ الْحَدِيثِ.

Sunan Abi Dawud 1179

Jabir (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated that there was an eclipse of the sun at the time of the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) on a hot day. The Apostle of Allah ( صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) led his Companions in prayer and prolonged the standing until the people began to fall down. He then bowed and prolonged it; then he raised his head and prolonged (the stay); then he bowed and prolonged it. Then he raised his head and prolonged (the stay). Then he made two prostrations and then stood up; then he did in the same manner. He thus performed four bowings and four prostrations. Then the narrator narrated the rest of the tradition.

جابر رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ کے عہد میں سخت گرمی کے دن میں سورج گرہن لگا تو رسول اللہ ﷺ نے صحابہ کرام کو نماز کسوف پڑھائی، ( اس میں ) آپ نے لمبا قیام کیا یہاں تک کہ لوگ گرنے لگے پھر آپ نے رکوع کیا تو لمبا ( رکوع ) کیا پھر رکوع سے سر اٹھایا تو لمبا قیام کیا، پھر رکوع کیا تو لمبا رکوع کیا، پھر رکوع سے سر اٹھایا تو لمبا ( قیام ) کیا، پھر دو سجدے کئے پھر ( دوسری رکعت کے لیے ) کھڑے ہوئے تو ویسے ہی کیا، اس طرح ( دو رکعت میں ) چار رکوع اور چار سجدے ہوئے اور راوی نے پوری حدیث بیان کی ۔

حَدَّثَنَا مُؤَمَّلُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ هِشَامٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ جَابِرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ كُسِفَتِ الشَّمْسُ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي يَوْمٍ شَدِيدِ الْحَرِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَصَلَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِأَصْحَابِهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَطَالَ الْقِيَامَ حَتَّى جَعَلُوا يَخِرُّونَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ رَكَعَ فَأَطَالَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ رَفَعَ فَأَطَالَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ رَكَعَ فَأَطَالَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ رَفَعَ فَأَطَالَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ سَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيْنِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ قَامَ فَصَنَعَ نَحْوًا مِنْ ذَلِكَ فَكَانَ أَرْبَعُ رَكَعَاتٍ وَأَرْبَعُ سَجَدَاتٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَسَاقَ الْحَدِيثَ.

Sunan Abi Dawud 1180

Ummul Momineen Aisha (رضي الله تعالى عنها) narrated that there was an eclipse of the sun during the lifetime of the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) when he came to the mosque, he stood up and uttered the takbir (Allah is great), the people stood in rows behind him. The Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) recited from the Quran for a long time, then he uttered the takbir (Allah is most great) and performed bowing for a long time, then he raised his head and said, ‘Allah (جَلَّ ذُو) listens to him who praises Him, our Lord, and to Thee be praise’. Then he stood up and recited from the Quran for a long time, but it was less than the first (recitation). He then bowed for a long time, but it was less than the first bowing. He then said, ‘Allah (جَلَّ ذُو) listens to him who praises Him, our Lord, and to Thee be praise’. He then did so in the second rak'a. He thus completed four bowings and four prostrations. The sun had become bright before he departed.

ام المؤمنین عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا کہتی ہیں کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ کی زندگی میں سورج گرہن لگا تو آپ مسجد کی طرف نکلے اور ( نماز کے لیے ) کھڑے ہوئے، آپ ﷺ نے «الله أكبر» کہا اور لوگوں نے آپ کے پیچھے صف لگائی، آپ ﷺ نے لمبی قرات کی پھر «الله أكبر» کہہ کر لمبا رکوع کیا، پھر اپنا سر اٹھایا اور «سمع الله لمن حمده ربنا ولك الحمد» کہا، پھر کھڑے رہے اور لمبی قرآت کی، اور یہ پہلی قرآت سے کچھ مختصر تھی، پھر آپ ﷺ نے «الله أكبر» کہہ کر لمبا رکوع کیا، اور یہ پہلے رکوع سے کچھ مختصر تھا، ( پھر رکوع سے سر اٹھایا ) اور «سمع الله لمن حمده ربنا ولك الحمد» کہا، پھر دوسری رکعت میں بھی آپ ﷺ نے ایسا ہی کیا اس طرح ( دو رکعت میں ) آپ نے پورے چار رکوع اور چار سجدے کئے، اور آپ کے نماز سے فارغ ہونے سے پہلے سورج روشن ہو گیا۔

Am al-Momineen Ayesha ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ا) kehti hain ke Rasool Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ki zindagi mein sooraj grahan laga to aap masjid ki taraf nikle aur (namaz ke liye) khare hue, aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne «Allah Akbar» kaha aur logon ne aap ke peeche saf lagayi, aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne lambi qirat ki phir «Allah Akbar» keh kar lamba rukoo kiya, phir apna sar uthaya aur «Samaha Allah liman Hamdah Rabbana wa laka al-Hamd» kaha, phir khare rahe aur lambi qirat ki, aur yeh pehli qirat se kuchh mukhtasar thi, phir aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne «Allah Akbar» keh kar lamba rukoo kiya, aur yeh pehle rukoo se kuchh mukhtasar tha, (phir rukoo se sar uthaya) aur «Samaha Allah liman Hamdah Rabbana wa laka al-Hamd» kaha, phir doosri rakat mein bhi aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne aisa hi kiya is tarah (do rakat mein) aap ne pure char rukoo aur char sajda kiye, aur aap ke namaz se farigh hone se pehle sooraj roshan ho gaya.

حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ السَّرْحِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ. ح وحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ الْمُرَادِيُّ /a>، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ يُونُسَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَخْبَرَنِي عُرْوَةُ بْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَائِشَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَتْ:‏‏‏‏ خُسِفَتِ الشَّمْسُ فِي حَيَاةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَخَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَامَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَكَبَّرَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَصَفَّ النَّاسُ وَرَاءَهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَاقْتَرَأَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قِرَاءَةً طَوِيلَةً، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ كَبَّرَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَرَكَعَ رُكُوعًا طَوِيلًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ سَمِعَ اللَّهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ رَبَّنَا وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ قَامَ فَاقْتَرَأَ قِرَاءَةً طَوِيلَةً هِيَ أَدْنَى مِنَ الْقِرَاءَةِ الْأُولَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ كَبَّرَ فَرَكَعَ رُكُوعًا طَوِيلًا هُوَ أَدْنَى مِنَ الرُّكُوعِ الْأَوَّلِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ سَمِعَ اللَّهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ رَبَّنَا وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ فَعَلَ فِي الرَّكْعَةِ الْأُخْرَى مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ فَاسْتَكْمَلَ أَرْبَعَ رَكَعَاتٍ وَأَرْبَعَ سَجَدَاتٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَانْجَلَتِ الشَّمْسُ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَنْصَرِفَ .

Sunan Abi Dawud 1181

Abdullah bin Abbas (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated that the Apostle of Allah ( صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) prayed at the solar eclipse as reported in the tradition narrated by Urwah from Ummul Momineen Aisha (رضي الله تعالى عنها) from the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) that he offered two rak'a of prayer bowing twice in each rak'a.

عبداللہ بن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما بیان کرتے تھے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے سورج گرہن کی نماز پڑھی، جیسے عروہ ام المؤمنین عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے اور ام المؤمنین عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا رسول اللہ ﷺ سے روایت کرتی ہیں کہ آپ نے دو رکعت پڑھی اور ہر رکعت میں دو رکوع کیا۔

Abdul-Allah bin Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a bayan karte thay ke Rasool Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne sooraj grahan ki namaz padhi, jaise Urooh ummul momineen Ayesha ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ا) se aur ummul momineen Ayesha ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ا) Rasool Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) se riwayat karti hain ke aap ne do rakat padhi aur har rakat mein do rukoo kiya.

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا عَنْبَسَةُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ كَانَ كَثِيرُ بْنُ عَبَّاسٍ يُحَدِّثُ،‏‏‏‏أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَبَّاسٍ كَانَ يُحَدِّثُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَّى فِي كُسُوفِ الشَّمْسِ مِثْلَ حَدِيثِ عُرْوَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ أَنَّهُ صَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ فِي كُلِّ رَكْعَةٍ رَكْعَتَيْنِ .

Sunan Abi Dawud 1182

Ubayy bin Ka'b (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated that an eclipse of the sun took place at the time of the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم). The Prophet (صلى هللا عليه و آله وسلم) led them in prayer. He recited one of the long Surah, bowing five times and prostrating himself twice. He then stood up for the second rak'a, recited one of the long surah, bowed five times, prostrated himself twice, then sat where he was facing the Qibla and made the supplication till the eclipse was over.

ابی بن کعب رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ کے زمانہ میں سورج گرہن لگا اور نبی اکرم ﷺ نے انہیں ( دو رکعت ) پڑھائی تو آپ نے لمبی سورتوں میں سے ایک سورۃ کی قرآت کی اور پانچ رکوع اور دو سجدے کئے، پھر دوسری رکعت کے لیے کھڑے ہوئے تو اس میں بھی لمبی سورتوں میں سے ایک سورت کی قرآت فرمائی اور پانچ رکوع اور دو سجدے کئے، پھر قبلہ رخ بیٹھے دعا کرتے رہے یہاں تک کہ گرہن چھٹ گیا۔

Abi bin Ka'b (رضي الله تعالى عنه) kehte hain ke Rasool-Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke zamane mein suraj grahan laga aur Nabi Akram (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne unhen (do rakat) padhai to aap ne lambi surton mein se ek surat ki qirat ki aur panch rukoo aur do sajde kiye, phir doosri rakat ke liye khare hue to is mein bhi lambi surton mein se ek surat ki qirat farmaayi aur panch rukoo aur do sajde kiye, phir qibla rukh baithe dua karte rahe yahan tak ke grahan chhut gaya.

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْفُرَاتِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ أَبُو مَسْعُودٍ الرَّازِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ الرَّازِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِيهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ الرَّازِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُد:‏‏‏‏ وَحُدِّثْتُ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ شَقِيقٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ الرَّازِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَهَذَا لَفْظُهُ وَهُوَ أَتَمُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ الرَّبِيعِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي الْعَالِيَةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ انْكَسَفَتِ الشَّمْسُ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَإِنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَّى بِهِمْ فَقَرَأَ بِسُورَةٍ مِنْ الطُّوَر وَرَكَعَ خَمْسَ رَكَعَاتٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَسَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيْنِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ قَامَ الثَّانِيَةَ فَقَرَأَ سُورَةً مِنْ الطُّوَرِ وَرَكَعَ خَمْسَ رَكَعَاتٍ وَسَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيْنِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ جَلَسَ كَمَا هُوَ مُسْتَقْبِلَ الْقِبْلَةِ يَدْعُو حَتَّى انْجَلَى كُسُوفُهَا .

Sunan Abi Dawud 1183

Ibn Abbas (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated that the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) prayed at solar eclipse, he recited from the Quran and then bowed. Then he recited from the Quran and then bowed. He then recited from the Quran and bowed. He then recited from the Quran and bowed. Then he prostrated himself and performed the second rak'a like the first.

عبداللہ بن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما نبی اکرم ﷺ سے روایت کرتے ہیں کہ آپ نے سورج گرہن کی نماز پڑھی تو قرآت کی، پھر رکوع کیا، پھر قرآت کی، پھر رکوع کیا، پھر قرآت کی، پھر رکوع کیا، پھر قرآت کی، پھر رکوع کیا، پھر سجدہ کیا، اور دوسری ( رکعت ) بھی اسی طرح پڑھی۔

Abdul-Allah bin Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a Nabi-e-Akram (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) se riwayat karte hain ke aap ne sooraj grahan ki namaz parhi to qirat ki, phir rukoo kiya, phir qirat ki, phir rukoo kiya, phir qirat ki, phir rukoo kiya, phir qirat ki, phir rukoo kiya, phir sujood kiya, aur doosri (rak'at) bhi isi tarah parhi.

Sunan Abi Dawud 1184

Samurah ibn Jundub (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated, ‘when, a boy from the Ansar and I were shooting (arrows) towards two of our targets, the sun was sighted by the people at the height of two or three lances above the horizon. It became black like the black herb called tannumah. One of us said to his companion, ‘let us go to the mosque, by Allah (جَلَّ ذُو), this incident of the sun will surely bring something new in the community of the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)’. As we reached it, we saw that he (the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) had already come out (of his house). He stepped forward for a long time as much as he could do so in the prayer. But we did not hear his voice. He then performed a bowing and prolonged it as much as he could do in the prayer. But we did not hear his voice. He then prostrated himself with us and prolonged it which he never did in the prayer before. But we did not hear his voice. He then did similarly in the second rak'a. The sun became bright when he sat after the second rak'a. Then he uttered the salutation. He then stood up, praised Allah (جَلَّ ذُو), and extolled Him, and testified that there was no God but Allah (جَلَّ ذُو) and testified that he was His servant and Apostle (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)’. Ahmad ibn Yunus then narrated the address of the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم).

اسود بن قیس کہتے ہیں کہ ثعلبہ بن عباد عبدی (جو اہل بصرہ میں سے ہیں) نے بیان کیا ہے کہ وہ ایک دن سمرہ بن جندب رضی اللہ عنہ کے خطبہ میں حاضر رہے، سمرہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے ( خطبہ میں ) کہا: میں اور ایک انصاری لڑکا دونوں تیر سے اپنا اپنا نشانہ لگا رہے تھے یہاں تک کہ جب دیکھنے والوں کی نظر میں سورج دو نیزہ یا تین نیزہ کے برابر رہ گیا تو اسی دوران وہ دفعۃً سیاہ ہو گیا پھر گویا وہ تنومہ ۱؎ ہو گیا، تو ہم میں سے ایک نے اپنے ساتھی سے کہا: تم ہمارے ساتھ مسجد چلو کیونکہ اللہ کی قسم سورج کا یہ حال ہونا رسول اللہ ﷺ کی امت میں کوئی نیا واقعہ رونما کرے گا، تو ہم چلے تو دیکھتے ہیں کہ مسجد بھری ۲؎ ہے پھر نبی اکرم ﷺ آگے بڑھے اور آپ نے نماز پڑھائی، اور ہمارے ساتھ اتنا لمبا قیام کیا کہ آپ ﷺ نے کبھی بھی کسی نماز میں اتنا لمبا قیام نہیں کیا تھا، ہمیں آپ کی آواز سنائی نہیں دے رہی تھی، پھر آپ ﷺ نے ہمارے ساتھ اتنا لمبا رکوع کیا کہ اتنا لمبا رکوع کسی نماز میں نہیں کیا تھا، ہمیں آپ کی آواز سنائی نہیں دے رہی تھی ۳؎ پھر آپ ﷺ نے اتنا لمبا سجدہ کیا کہ اتنا لمبا سجدہ آپ نے کبھی بھی کسی نماز میں ہمارے ساتھ نہیں کیا تھا اور ہمیں آپ کی آواز سنائی نہیں دے رہی تھی، پھر آپ ﷺ نے دوسری رکعت میں بھی ایسا ہی کیا۔ سمرہ بن جندب رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں: دوسری رکعت پڑھ کر آپ ﷺ کے بیٹھنے کے ساتھ ہی سورج روشن ہو گیا، پھر آپ نے سلام پھیرا، پھر کھڑے ہوئے تو اللہ کی حمد و ثنا بیان کی اور گواہی دی کہ اللہ کے علاوہ کوئی معبود برحق نہیں اور آپ اللہ کے بندے اور اس کے رسول ہیں ، پھر احمد بن یونس نے نبی اکرم ﷺ کا پورا خطبہ بیان کیا۔

Aswad bin Qais kehte hain ke Thalbah bin Abbad Abdi (jo ahl Basra mein se hain) ne bayan kiya hai ke wo ek din Samrah bin Jundb (رضي الله تعالى عنه)u ke khutbah mein hazir rahe, Samrah (رضي الله تعالى عنه)u ne (khutbah mein) kaha: Main aur ek Ansari larkay dono teer se apna apna nishana laga rahe the yaha tak ke jab dekhne walon ki nazar mein suraj do neza ya teena neza ke barabar reh gaya to usi doran wo dafatan siyah ho gaya phir goya wo tanoomah ho gaya, to hum mein se ek ne apne sathi se kaha: Tum hamare sath masjid chalo kyun ke Allah ki qasam suraj ka ye hal hona Rasool Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ki ummat mein koi naya waqia ronma kare ga, to hum chale to dekhte hain ke masjid bhari hai phir Nabi Akram (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) aage barhe aur aap ne namaz padhai, aur hamare sath itna lamba qiyam kiya ke aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne kabhi bhi kisi namaz mein itna lamba qiyam nahi kiya tha, hamen aap ki aawaz sunai nahi de rahi thi, phir aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne hamare sath itna lamba rukoo kiya ke itna lamba rukoo kisi namaz mein nahi kiya tha, hamen aap ki aawaz sunai nahi de rahi thi phir aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne itna lamba sajda kiya ke itna lamba sajda aap ne kabhi bhi kisi namaz mein hamare sath nahi kiya tha aur hamen aap ki aawaz sunai nahi de rahi thi, phir aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne dusri rakat mein bhi aisa hi kiya. Samrah bin Jundb (رضي الله تعالى عنه)u kehte hain: Dusri rakat padh kar aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke bethne ke sath hi suraj roshan ho gaya, phir aap ne salam phira, phir khare hue to Allah ki hamd wa sana bayan ki aur gawah di ke Allah ke alawa koi ma'bud barhaq nahi aur aap Allah ke bande aur uske rasul hain, phir Ahmad bin Yunus ne Nabi Akram (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ka poora khutbah bayan kiya.

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يُونُسَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا الْأَسْوَدُ بْنُ قَيْسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنِي ثَعْلَبَةُ بْنُ عِبَادٍ الْعَبْدِيُّ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْبَصْرَةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّهُ شَهِدَ خُطْبَةً يَوْمًا لِسَمُرَةَ بْنِ جُنْدُبٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ سَمُرَةُ:‏‏‏‏ بَيْنَمَا أَنَا وَغُلَامٌ مِنْ الْأَنْصَارِ نَرْمِي غَرَضَيْنِ لَنَا حَتَّى إِذَا كَانَتِ الشَّمْسُ قِيدَ رُمْحَيْنِ أَوْ ثَلَاثَةٍ فِي عَيْنِ النَّاظِرِ مِنَ الْأُفُقِ اسْوَدَّتْ حَتَّى آضَتْ كَأَنَّهَا تَنُّومَةٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ أَحَدُنَا لِصَاحِبِهِ:‏‏‏‏ انْطَلِقْ بِنَا إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَوَاللَّهِ لَيُحْدِثَنَّ شَأْنُ هَذِهِ الشَّمْسِ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي أُمَّتِهِ حَدَثًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَدَفَعْنَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَإِذَا هُوَ بَارِزٌ فَاسْتَقْدَمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَصَلَّى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَامَ بِنَا كَأَطْوَلِ مَا قَامَ بِنَا فِي صَلَاةٍ قَطُّ لَا نَسْمَعُ لَهُ صَوْتًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ ثُمَّ رَكَعَ بِنَا كَأَطْوَلِ مَا رَكَعَ بِنَا فِي صَلَاةٍ قَطُّ لَا نَسْمَعُ لَهُ صَوْتًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ سَجَدَ بِنَا كَأَطْوَلِ مَا سَجَدَ بِنَا فِي صَلَاةٍ قَطُّ لَا نَسْمَعُ لَهُ صَوْتًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ فَعَلَ فِي الرَّكْعَةِ الْأُخْرَى مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَوَافَقَ تَجَلِّي الشَّمْسُ جُلُوسَهُ فِي الرَّكْعَةِ الثَّانِيَةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ قَامَ فَحَمِدَ اللَّهَ وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَشَهِدَ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَشَهِدَ أَنَّهُ عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ سَاقَ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يُونُسَ خُطْبَةَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ.

Sunan Abi Dawud 1185

Qabisah al-Hilali (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated that there was an eclipse of the sun in the time of the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم). He came out bewildered pulling his garment, and I was in his company at Madina. He prayed two rak'a and stood for a long time in them. He then departed and the sun became bright. He then said, ‘there are the signs by means of which Allah (جَلَّ ذُو), the Exalted, produces dread (in His servants). When you see anything of this nature, then pray as you are praying a fresh obligatory prayer’.

قبیصہ بن مخارق ہلالی رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں رسول اللہ ﷺ کے زمانہ میں سورج گرہن لگا تو آپ گھبرا کر اپنا کپڑا گھسیٹتے ہوئے نکلے اس دن میں آپ کے ساتھ مدینہ ہی میں تھا، آپ ﷺ نے دو رکعت نماز پڑھائی اور ان میں لمبا قیام فرمایا، پھر نماز سے فارغ ہوئے اور سورج روشن ہو گیا، اس کے بعد آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا: بیشک یہ نشانیاں ہیں، جن کے ذریعہ اللہ ( بندوں کو ) ڈراتا ہے لہٰذا جب تم ایسا دیکھو تو نماز پڑھو جیسے تم نے قریب کی فرض نماز پڑھی ہو ۱؎ ۔

Qabisa bin Makharq Hilali (رضي الله تعالى عنه) kehte hain Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke zamane mein sooraj grahan laga to aap ghabara kar apna kapra ghisit te hue nikle is din mein aap ke sath Madina hi mein tha aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne do rakat namaz padhai aur in mein lamba qiyam farmaya phir namaz se farigh hue aur sooraj roshan ho gaya is ke baad aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: Beshak yeh nishaniain hain jin ke zariye Allah ( bandon ko ) darata hai lahaza jab tum aisa dekho to namaz padho jaise tum ne qareeb ki farz namaz padhi ho

حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ قَبِيصَةَ الْهِلَالِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ كُسِفَتِ الشَّمْسُ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَخَرَجَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَزِعًا يَجُرُّ ثَوْبَهُ وَأَنَا مَعَهُ يَوْمَئِذٍ بِالْمَدِينَةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ فَأَطَالَ فِيهِمَا الْقِيَامَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ وَانْجَلَتْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّمَا هَذِهِ الْآيَاتُ يُخَوِّفُ اللَّهُ بِهَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُمُوهَا فَصَلُّوا كَأَحْدَثِ صَلَاةٍ صَلَّيْتُمُوهَا مِنَ الْمَكْتُوبَةِ .

Sunan Abi Dawud 1186

Qabisah al Hilali (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated that the solar eclipse took place. The narrator then narrated the tradition like that of Musa. The narrator again said, ‘Until the stars appear (in the heaven)’.


Grade: Da'if

ہلال بن عامر سے روایت ہے کہ قبیصہ ہلالی نے ان سے بیان کیا ہے کہ سورج میں گرہن لگا، پھر انہوں نے موسیٰ کی روایت کے ہم معنی روایت ذکر کی، اس میں ہے: یہاں تک کہ ستارے دکھائی دینے لگے۔

Hilal bin Aamir se riwayat hai ke Qabisa Hilali ne un se bayan kiya hai ke sooraj mein grahan laga, phir unhon ne Musa ki riwayat ke hum maani riwayat zikr ki, is mein hai: yahin tak ke sitare dikhaai dene lagay.
