Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 4535
Nafi', the freed slave of Ibn 'Umar, narrates that once Ibn 'Umar was on a journey when he heard the sound of a shepherd singing and playing a musical instrument. He put his fingers in his ears and left the path, and after a while, he would ask me, "Nafi', do you still hear it?" If I said yes, he would keep walking until I said no. Then he would remove his hands from his ears, return to the path, and say, "I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) doing the same when he heard the singing and musical instrument of a shepherd."

نافع رحمہ اللہ جو سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما کے آزاد کردہ غلام ہیں کہتے ہیں کہ ایک مرتبہ سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما راستے میں جا رہے تھے کہ ان کے کانوں میں کسی چرواہے کے گانے اور ساز کی آواز آئی انہوں نے اپنے کانوں میں اپنی انگلیاں ٹھونس لیں اور وہ راستہ ہی چھوڑ دیا اور تھوڑے تھوڑے وقفے کے بعد مجھ سے پوچھتے رہے کہ نافع! کیا اب بھی آواز آ رہی ہے میں اگر ”ہاں“ میں جواب دیتا تو وہ چلتے رہتے یہاں تک کہ جب میں نے نہیں کہہ دیا تو انہوں نے اپنے ہاتھ کانوں سے ہٹا لئے اور اپنی سواری کو پھر راستے پر ڈال دیا اور کہنے لگے کہ میں نے نبی کریم ﷺ کو ایک چرواہے کے گانے اور ساز کی آواز سنتے ہوئے اسی طرح کرتے ہوئے دیکھا تھا۔
Nafi rehmatullah alaih jo Sayyiduna Ibn Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a ke aazaad kardah ghulam hain kehte hain ki ek martaba Sayyiduna Ibn Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a raste mein ja rahe the ki unke kaano mein kisi charwahe ke gaane aur saaz ki aawaz aai unhon ne apne kaano mein apni ungliyan thons li aur wo rasta hi chhor diya aur thore thore waqfe ke baad mujhse puchhte rahe ki Nafi kya ab bhi aawaz aa rahi hai main agar "haan" mein jawab deta to wo chalte rehte yahan tak ki jab main ne nahin keh diya to unhon ne apne hath kaano se hata liye aur apni sawari ko phir raste par daal diya aur kehne lage ki main ne Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ko ek charwahe ke gaane aur saaz ki aawaz sunte hue isi tarah karte hue dekha tha.
حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ مُوسَى ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ مَوْلَى ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ ابْنَ عُمَرَ " سَمِعَ صَوْتَ زَمَّارَةِ رَاعٍ، فَوَضَعَ أُصْبُعَيْهِ فِي أُذُنَيْهِ، وَعَدَلَ رَاحِلَتَهُ عَنِ الطَّرِيقِ، يَقُولُ: يَا نَافِعُ، أَتَسْمَعُ؟ فَأَقُولُ: نَعَمْ، فَيَمْضِي، حَتَّى قُلْتُ: لَا، فَوَضَعَ يَدَيْهِ، وَأَعَادَ رَاحِلَتَهُ إِلَى الطَّرِيقِ، وَقَالَ: رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَسَمِعَ صَوْتَ زَمَّارَةِ رَاعٍ، فَصَنَعَ مِثْلَ هَذَا.
