Chapter on a man who is physically capable of walking but cannot find provisions or a mount, so it is not clear that Hajj is obligatory upon him.
باب الرجل يطيق المشي ولا يجد زادا ولا راحلة فلا يبين أن يوجب عليه الحج

Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that a man asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): "Who is a Haji?" He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) replied: "The one who is disheveled and dust-covered." Another stood up and asked: "Which Hajj is the most virtuous?" He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) replied: "The one in which there is more hardship." Another stood up and said: "O Messenger of Allah! What is Sabil?" He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) replied: "Mount and provisions."

(٨٦٣٧) عبداللہ بن عمر (رض) فرماتے ہیں کہ ایک آدمی نے رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) سے سوال کیا : حاجی کون ہے ؟ تو آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : پراگندہ حالت والا غبار آلود۔ ایک دوسرا کھڑا ہوا اور اس نے پوچھا : کون سا حج افضل ہے ؟ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : جس میں مشقت زیادہ ہو۔ ایک اور کھڑا ہوا۔ اس نے کہا : اے اللہ کے رسول (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) ! سبیل کیا ہے ؟ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : سواری اور زادراہ۔
(8637) Abdullah bin Umar (RA) farmate hain ke ek aadmi ne Rasul Allah (SAW) se sawal kiya : Haji kaun hai ? To aap (SAW) ne farmaya : Praganda halat wala ghubar aalod. Ek doosra khara hua aur us ne poocha : Kaun sa Hajj afzal hai ? Aap (SAW) ne farmaya : Jis mein mushqat zyada ho. Ek aur khara hua. Us ne kaha : Aye Allah ke Rasul (SAW) ! Sabil kya hai ? Aap (SAW) ne farmaya : Sawari aur zadrah.
The Shaykh said: Muhammad ibn Abdullah ibn Ubayd ibn Umair narrated from Muhammad ibn Abbad, but he is weaker than Ibrahim ibn Yazid. Similarly, Muhammad ibn Hajjaj narrated this hadith, and he is abandoned (matrook). Similarly, it was narrated from Sa'id ibn Abu Arooba and Hammad ibn Salamah, from Qatadah, from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) regarding provisions and riding, but in my view it is their mistake.

شیخ فرماتے ہیں : محمد بن عبداللہ بن عبید بن عمیر محمد بن عباد سے روایت کرتے ہیں ، لیکن وہ ابراہیم بن یزید سے زیادہ ضعیف ہے۔ اسی طرح اس روایت کو محمد بن حجاج نے روایت کیا ہے وہ متروک ہے۔ اسی طرح اسے سعید بن ابوعروبہ اور حماد بن سلمہ سے روایت کیا گیا ہے ، وہ قتادہ سے، وہ سیدنا انس (رض) سے اور وہ نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) سے زادراہ اور سواری کے بارے میں روایت کرتے ہیں، لیکن میرے نزدیک یہ ان کا وہم ہے۔

shaikh farmate hain : muhammad bin abdullah bin ubaid bin umair muhammad bin ubad se riwayat karte hain , lekin woh ibrahim bin yazid se ziada zaeef hai. isi tarah is riwayat ko muhammad bin hajjaj ne riwayat kiya hai woh matrook hai. isi tarah ise saeed bin abuarubah aur hammad bin salmah se riwayat kiya gaya hai , woh qatadah se, woh saidna anas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ) se aur woh nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) se zadrah aur sawari ke bare mein riwayat karte hain, lekin mere nazdeek yeh un ka waham hai.
Hasan Basri said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was asked about the saying of Allah Almighty: "And Hajj (pilgrimage to Makkah) to the House (Ka‘bah) is a duty that mankind owes to Allah, those who can afford the expenses (for one’s conveyance and provisions)" What is the meaning of "afford the expenses"? So he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Mount and provisions."
The correct view is that this narration from Sayyiduna Hasan is mursal (narrated without a complete chain of narrators).

(٨٦٣٩) حسن بصری فرماتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) سے اللہ تعالیٰ کے فرمان : ” وللہ علی الناس حج البیت من استطاع الیہ سبیلا “ کے بارے میں پوچھا گیا کہ سبیل کیا ہے ؟ تو آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : سواری اور زاد راہ۔
صحیح بات یہ ہے کہ سیدنا حسن سے یہ روایت مرسل ہے۔
(8639) Hasan Basri farmate hain keh Rasul Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) se Allah ta'ala ke farman : "Walillahil anal nase hajjal bayt man istata'a ilaih sabila" ke bare mein poocha gaya keh sabil kya hai? To aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne farmaya : Sawari aur zad-e-rah.
Sahih baat yeh hai keh Sayyiduna Hasan se yeh riwayat mursal hai.
Aishah, the Mother of the Believers (may Allah be pleased with her), reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about the provision for Hajj. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Provisions for the journey and a ride."

(٨٦٤٠) ام المومنین سیدہ عائشہ صدیقہ (رض) فرماتی ہیں کہ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) سے سبیل الی الحج کے بارے میں پوچھا گیا تو آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : زادِ راہ اور سواری۔
8640 Umm ul Momineen Syeda Ayesha Siddiqa (RA) farmati hain ke Rasulullah (SAW) se sabeel alal hajj ke bare mein poocha gaya to aap (SAW) ne farmaya: Zad e rah aur sawari.
Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said regarding the statement of Allah Almighty: {And pilgrimage to the House is a duty unto Allah for mankind, for him who is able to find a way thither}, "The meaning of 'a way' is that a person should be physically healthy and should have readily available provisions and riding beast for the journey."

(٨٦٤١) سیدنا عبداللہ بن عباس (رض) اللہ تعالیٰ کے فرمان : { وَلِلَّہِ عَلَی النَّاسِ حِجُّ الْبَیْتِ مَنِ اسْتَطَاعَ إِلَیْہِ سَبِیلًا } کے بارے میں فرماتے ہیں کہ سبیل یہ ہے کہ آدمی کا بدن صحیح ہو اور بآسانی اس کے پاس زاد راہ اور سواری کی رقم دستیاب ہو۔
(8641) syedna abdullah bin abbas (rz) allah taala ke farman : { wa lillahi alal nnasi hijjul bayti man istataa ilaehi sabeelan } ke bare mein farmate hain ke sabeel yeh hai ke aadmi ka badan sahih ho aur ba asani uske paas zad rah aur sawari ki raqam dastyab ho.
(8642) It is narrated from Sayyidina Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him), similar to the statement of 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), that the meaning of "sabil" is provisions for the journey and conveyance.
Grade: Da'if
(٨٦٤٢) سیدنا ابن عباس (رض) سے بھی عمر (رض) کے قول کی طرح سبیل کا معنی زاد ِراہ اور سواری منقول ہے۔
(8642) Syedna Ibn Abbas (RA) se bhi Umar (RA) ke qaul ki tarah sabeel ka mani zad e rah aur sawari manqool hai.
