Chapter on Those Who Disliked a Man Starting Prayer on His Own and Then Joining the Imam
باب من كره أن يفتتح الرجل الصلاة لنفسه ثم يدخل مع الإمام
Sunan al-Kubra Bayhaqi 5144
Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "An Imam is appointed to be followed. So when he says Takbir, you say Takbir, and do not say Takbir until he says it. And when he bows, you bow, and do not bow until he bows. And when he says 'Sami'a Allahu liman Hamidah (Allah hears those who praise Him),' you say 'Rabbana lakal Hamd (Our Lord, to You be praise).'" Muslim's wording is: "Walakal Hamd (And to You be praise)." "And when he prostrates, you prostrate, and do not prostrate until he prostrates. And when he prays standing, you pray standing, and when he prays sitting, you all pray sitting."

(٥١٤٤) ابوہریرہ (رض) بیان کرتے ہیں کہ نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : امام بنایا ہی اس لیے جاتا ہے کہ اس کی اقتدا کی جائے۔ جب وہ تکبیر کہے تو تم بھی تکبیر کہو اور تم اللہ اکبر نہ کہوجب تک وہ نہ کہہ لے اور جب وہ رکوع کرے تو تم بھی رکوع کرو اور تم رکوع نہ کرو یہاں تک کہ وہ رکوع کرے اور جب وہ کہے : ” سَمِعَ اللَّہُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَہُ “ تو تم کہو : ” اللَّہُمَّ رَبَّنَا لَکَ الْحَمْدُ “ مسلم کے الفاظ یہ ہیں : ” وَلَکَ الْحَمْدُ “ اور جب وہ سجدہ کرے تو تم بھی سجدہ کرو اور تم سجدہ نہ کرو یہاں تک کہ وہ سجدہ کرلے اور جب وہ کھڑے ہو کر نماز پڑھے تو تم بھی کھڑے ہو کر نماز پڑھو اور وہ جب بیٹھ کر نماز پڑھے تو تم سب بھی بیٹھ کر نماز پڑھو۔
(5144) Abu Hurairah (RA) bayan karte hain keh Nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne farmaya : Imam banaya hi is liye jata hai keh uski iqtida ki jaye. Jab woh takbeer kahe to tum bhi takbeer kaho aur tum Allah Akbar na kaho jab tak woh na keh le aur jab woh ruku kare to tum bhi ruku karo aur tum ruku na karo yahan tak keh woh ruku kare aur jab woh kahe : ” Sami Allahu Liman Hamidah “ to tum kaho : ” Allahumma Rabbana Laka Alhamd “ Muslim ke alfaz ye hain : ” Wa Laka Alhamd “ aur jab woh sajda kare to tum bhi sajda karo aur tum sajda na karo yahan tak keh woh sajda kar le aur jab woh khde ho kar namaz padhe to tum bhi khde ho kar namaz padho aur woh jab baith kar namaz padhe to tum sab bhi baith kar namaz padho.
Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When you hear the Iqamah, then proceed to offer the prayer with calmness and perform the Rak'ahs that you are able to pray, and complete those that you have missed."

(٥١٤٥) ابوہریرہ (رض) فرماتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : جب تم اقامت سنو تو آرام سے چلو جو نماز تم پالو پڑھ لو اور جو تم سے رہ جائے تو اس کو پورا کرلو۔
(5145) Abu Huraira (RA) farmate hain ki Rasool Allah (SAW) ne farmaya : Jab tum iqamat suno to aaram se chalo jo namaz tum palo parh lo aur jo tum se reh jaye to us ko pora karlo.
`Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Layla reported on the authority of Mu`adh (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) would come for prayer, and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would have already prayed some of it. He would gesture towards the worshippers with one or two fingers, inquiring [about how much he had missed]. Mu`adh came when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had already prayed some of the prayer. He joined the prayer and said, "I joined in the same state in which I found the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)." Then I completed the prayer. Then one day I came when some of the prayer had passed. He joined the prayer. When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) finished the prayer, Mu`adh (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up to complete the prayer. He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "O Mu`adh! Have I not established a way for you? You should do the same."

(٥١٤٦) عبد الرحمن بن ابی لیلیٰ معاذ (رض) سے نقل فرماتے ہیں کہ صحابہ کرام (رض) نماز کے لیے آتے اور نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) بعض نماز پڑھ چکے ہوتے تو وہ نمازیوں کی طرف ایک یا دو انگلیوں کے ساتھ اشارہ کر کے پوچھتے۔ معاذ آئے تو نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے کچھ نماز پڑھ لی تھی، وہ بھی نماز میں شامل ہوگئے، فرماتے ہیں : جس حالت میں میں نے نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کو پایا تھا اسی حالت میں میں بھی شامل ہوگیا۔ پھر میں نے نماز پوری کی۔ پھر ایک دن آئے تو کچھ نماز گزر چکی تھی۔ وہ نماز میں شامل ہوئے۔ جب نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے نماز پوری کی تو معاذ (رض) کھڑے ہو کر نماز پوری کر رہے تھے۔ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : معاذ ! نے تمہارے لیے طریقہ مقرر کردیا تم بھی ایسے ہی کرلیا کرو۔
(5146) Abdur Rahman bin Abi Laila Muaz (RA) se naql farmate hain ki sahaba kiram (RA) namaz ke liye aate aur Nabi (SAW) baaz namaz parh chuke hote to wo namazion ki taraf ek ya do ungliyon ke sath ishara kar ke poochte. Muaz aaye to Nabi (SAW) ne kuchh namaz parh li thi, wo bhi namaz mein shamil hogaye, farmate hain : Jis halat mein maine Nabi (SAW) ko paya tha usi halat mein main bhi shamil hogaya. Phir maine namaz poori ki. Phir ek din aaye to kuchh namaz guzar chuki thi. Wo namaz mein shamil huye. Jab Nabi (SAW) ne namaz poori ki to Muaz (RA) kharay ho kar namaz poori kar rahe thay. Aap (SAW) ne farmaya : Muaz! ne tumhare liye tareeqa muqarrar kardiya tum bhi aise hi karliya karo.
Ibn Abi Layla reported: We were told by our companions that when a man came for prayer, he was informed how much of it was over. He used to observe bowing, prostrations, sitting along with the Prophet (ﷺ) and offered prayer with him. Mu'adh (رض) came and he (the narrator) made a mention of it to him. Shu'ba said: I heard from Husain, that is, Ibn Abi Layla that Mu'adh (رض) said: I joined the prayer in whatever state I found the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). You (the Holy Prophet) said: Mu'adh (رض) has set a precedent for you; so you should also do like it.

(٥١٤٧) ابن ابی لیلیٰ فرماتے ہیں کہ ہمیں ہمارے ساتھیوں نے بیان کیا۔ آدمی جب نماز کے لیے آتا ہے تو اس کو بتایا جاتا کہ اتنی نماز گزر چکی ہے۔ وہ نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے ساتھ قیام، رکوع، بیٹھتے اور نماز پڑھتے تھے۔ معاذ (رض) آئے، انھوں نے اس کا اشارہ کیا۔ شعبہ کہتے ہیں : میں نے حصین یعنی ابن ابی لیلیٰ سے سنا کہ معاذ (رض) فرماتے ہیں کہ جس حالت پر میں نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کو دیکھتا اسی حالت میں نماز میں شامل ہوجاتا۔ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : معاذ (رض) نے تمہارے لیے طریقہ بنایا ہے تم بھی ایسے ہی کیا کرو۔
(5147) Ibne Abi Laila farmate hain ke hamen hamare sathiyon ne bayan kya. Aadmi jab namaz ke liye aata hai to usko bataya jata hai ke itni namaz guzar chuki hai. Wo Nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ke sath qayam, ruku, baithte aur namaz parhte the. Moaz (Raz) aaye, unhon ne uska ishara kiya. Shubah kahte hain: Maine Hasan yani Ibne Abi Laila se suna ke Moaz (Raz) farmate hain ke jis halat par main Nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ko dekhta usi halat mein namaz mein shamil hojaata. Aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne farmaya: Moaz (Raz) ne tumhare liye tareeqa banaya hai tum bhi aise hi kya karo.
Ibn Abi Laila reported: Until Mu'adh came, then Shu'ba said: I heard Husain saying that Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I see you (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) in whatever state... you too do the same.

(٥١٤٨) ابن ابی لیلیٰ فرماتے ہیں کہ یہاں تک کہ معاذ آئے، شعبہ کہتے ہیں : میں نے حصین سے سنا کہ معاذ (رض) فرماتے ہیں : میں آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کو جس حالت پر دیکھتا ۔۔۔ تم بھی ایسا ہی کرو۔
(5148) Ibne Abi Laila farmate hain ke yahan tak ke Moaz aaye, Shoba kahte hain : main ne Hiseen se suna ke Moaz (Raz) farmate hain : main aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ko jis halat par dekhta ... tum bhi aisa hi karo.
