Chapter: Not Shortening the Prayer Until Leaving the Houses of the Village, and Then Shortening Until Re-entering the Nearest Houses
باب: لا يقصر الذي يريد السفر حتى يخرج من بيوت القرية، ثم يقصر حتى يدخل أدنى بيوتها
Sunan al-Kubra Bayhaqi 5444
Muhammad bin Munkadar narrated from Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that I prayed Zuhr prayer with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) in Madinah as four rak'ahs and in Dhu al-Hulaifah as two rak'ahs.

(٥٤٤٤) محمد بن منکدر نے انس بن مالک (رض) سے سنا کہ میں نے نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے ساتھ مدینہ میں ظہر کی نماز چار رکعات پڑھیں اور ذی الحلیفہ میں دو رکعات۔
Muhammad bin Munkadar ne Anas bin Malik se suna ki main ne Nabi ke sath Madinah mein Zuhar ki namaz char rakat parhi aur Zi-al-Halifah mein do rakat.
Ibrahim bin Misar narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that I prayed four rak'ahs of Zuhr prayer with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and two rak'ahs of Asr prayer in Dhu al-Halifa.

(٥٤٤٥) ابراہیم بن میسرہ حضرت انس (رض) سے نقل فرماتے ہیں کہ میں نے نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے ساتھ ظہر کی نماز چار رکعات پڑھیں او ذی الحلیفہ میں عصر کی د دو رکعات۔

(5446) (a) Yahya bin Yazid Hanafi said: I asked Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) about the shortened prayer. I had gone to Kufa and continued to pray two rak'ahs until my return. Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would shorten the prayer when he would set out on a journey of three miles or three farsakhs. (There is doubt about the word "Sha'ba").
(b) In the narration of Abu Dawud, it is stated that he would pray two rak'ahs, but he did not mention this statement: "And I would go out to Kufa and pray two rak'ahs."

(٥٤٤٦) (الف) یحییٰ بن یزید ھنائی فرماتی ہیں : میں نے انس بن مالک (رض) سے نماز قصر کے بارے میں سوال کیا ، میں کوفہ گیا تھا اور واپسی تک دو دو رکعات پڑھتا رہا۔ انس (رض) نے فرمایا : نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) جب تین میل یا تین فرسخ کی مسافت کے لیے نکلتے تو نماز قصر کرتے (شعبہ کو شک ہے) ۔
(ب) ابو داؤد کی روایت میں ہے کہ وہ دو رکعتیں پڑھتے لیکن انھوں نے یہ قول ” وکنت اخرج الی الکوفۃ فاصلی رکعتین “ ذکر نہیں کیا۔
(5446) (alif) Yahya bin Yazid Hanai farmate hain : main ne Anas bin Malik (raz) se namaz qasar ke bare mein sawal kya, main Kufa gaya tha aur wapsi tak do do rakat parhta raha. Anas (raz) ne farmaya : Nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) jab teen mil ya teen farsakh ki masafat ke liye nikalte to namaz qasar karte (Shuaba ko shak hai).
(be) Abu Daud ki riwayat mein hai ki woh do rakaten parhte lekin unhon ne ye qaul "wakuntu akhruju ila al-Kufa fasalli rak'atain" zikar nahin kya.
(5447) (a) Jabir bin Nufayr bin Samt narrated that he came to a village in Hims which was thirteen miles away. He prayed two rak'ahs there. I said: You prayed two rak'ahs. He said: I saw Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) used to pray two rak'ahs in Dhu al-Hulaifah. I asked him and he said: I do as I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) doing.
(b) In the narration of Abu Dawud, Ibn Samt narrated from Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that I prayed two rak'ahs with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) in Dhu al-Hulaifah.

(٥٤٤٧) (الف) جبیر بن نفیرابن سمط سے نقل فرماتے ہیں کہ وہ حمص کی ایک بستی میں آئے جو تیرہ میل دور تھی آئے وہاں دورکعات پڑھیں۔ میں نے کہا : آپ نے دو رکعات پڑھیں۔ فرمانے لگے : میں نے عمر (رض) بن خطاب (رض) کو دیکھا وہ ذی الحلیفہ میں دو رکعات پڑھا کرتے تھے، میں نے ان سے سوال کیا تو انھوں نے فرمایا : میں ویسے ہی کرتا ہوں جیسے میں نے نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کو کرتے دیکھا ہے۔
(ب) ابو داؤد کی روایت میں ہے کہ ابن سمط نے عمر (رض) سے سنا کہ میں نے نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے ساتھ ذی الحلیفہ میں دو رکعات ادا کیں۔
(5447) (alif) Jubair bin Nufair bin Simt se naql farmate hain ki woh Hums ki ek basti mein aaye jo terah meal door thi aaye wahan do rakat parhin. Maine kaha: Aap ne do rakat parhin. Farmane lage: Maine Umar (Raz) bin Khattab (Raz) ko dekha woh Zi al-Halifa mein do rakat parha karte the, maine un se sawal kiya to unhon ne farmaya: Main waise hi karta hun jaise maine Nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ko karte dekha hai.
(be) Abu Dawood ki riwayat mein hai ki Ibn Simt ne Umar (Raz) se suna ki maine Nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ke sath Zi al-Halifa mein do rakat ada kin.
Ali bin Rabia narrated that we went with Ali bin Abi Talib towards Syria. He led the prayers two rak'ahs at a time until the return. When he came back and saw Kufa, the time for prayer had also arrived, so he said: "O Commander of the Faithful! This is Kufa, shall we complete the prayer?" He said, "No, not until we enter it."

(٥٤٤٨) علی بن ربیعہ فرماتے ہیں کہ ہم علی بن ابی طالب کے ساتھ شام کی طرف گئے۔ انھوں نے واپسی تک دو دو رکعات پڑھائیں۔ جب واپس آئے اور کوفہ کو دیکھ لیا ادھر نماز کا وقت بھی ہوگیا تو انھوں نے کہا : اے امیر المؤمنین ! یہ کوفہ ہے ہم نماز مکمل کرلیں ؟ فرمایا : نہیں جب تک اس میں داخل نہ ہوجاؤ۔
Ali bin Rabiya farmate hain ki hum Ali bin Abi Talib ke sath Sham ki taraf gaye. Unhon ne wapsi tak do do rakat parhaen. Jab wapis aaye aur Kufa ko dekh liya udhar namaz ka waqt bhi hogaya to unhon ne kaha : Ae Amir-ul-Momineen! Yeh Kufa hai hum namaz mukammal karlen? Farmaya : Nahin jab tak is mein dakhil na hojao.
Ali bin Rabia narrated that we went out with Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), and we performed qasr prayer while looking at our homes. Then when we came back, we again performed qasr and we were looking at our homes. We asked Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) about it, so he said that until you enter your city, you will continue to pray qasr.

(٥٤٤٩) علی بن ربیعہ فرماتی ہیں کہ ہم حضرت علی (رض) کے ساتھ نکلے تو ہم نے قصر کی اور ہم گھروں کو دیکھ رہے تھے۔ پھر واپس پلٹے تو ہم نے قصر کی ہم اپنے گھروں کو دیکھ رے تھے۔ ہم نے حضرت علی (رض) سے کہا تو وہ فرماتے ہیں داخل ہونے تک قصر ہی کرے گے۔
(5449) Ali bin Rabia farmate hain ki hum Hazrat Ali (ra) ke sath nikle to hum ne qasar ki aur hum gharon ko dekh rahe the phir wapas palte to hum ne qasar ki hum apne gharon ko dekh rahe the hum ne Hazrat Ali (ra) se kaha to wo farmate hain dakhil hone tak qasar hi karenge.
