Chapter: People Turn Their Faces Toward the Imam and Listen to the Khutbah
باب: يحول الناس وجوههم إلى الإمام ويسمعون الذكر
Sunan al-Kubra Bayhaqi 5710
Ata' Abu Sa'id narrated that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) was sitting on the pulpit and we were around him. He (ﷺ) said, "I fear for you after me, that the adornment of the world will be opened up for you." A man said, "Will good bring about evil?" He (ﷺ) remained silent, so it was said to him, "What is wrong with you that you are talking to the Prophet (ﷺ) but the Prophet (ﷺ) is not talking to you, and we see that revelation is descending upon him?" When he (ﷺ) finished the revelation and was wiping away the sweat, he said, "Where is the questioner?" - as if praising him. He (ﷺ) said, "Good does not bring about evil. The spring brings forth vegetation, then it either perishes or the grazing animal eats its fill of green, fresh herbage. Then it sits facing the sun, urinates and defecates, and then it grazes again. Such wealth is green and sweet. The best of a Muslim's wealth is what he gives to a poor, orphaned, or wayfaring person, or that which he gives as a rightful loan, for which it is as if he eats but is never full, and for which he will be reckoned with on the Day of Resurrection."

(٥٧١٠) عطاء أبو سعید سے نقل فرماتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) منبر پر بیٹھے اور ہم آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے ارد گرد تھے۔ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : میں اپنے بعد تمہارے اوپر خوف محسوس کرتا ہوں جو دنیا کی زیب وزینت تمہارے اوپر کھول دی جائے گی۔ ایک شخص نے عرض کیا : بھلائی شر کو لائے گی ؟ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) خاموش ہوگئے تو اس سے کہا گیا : تیری کیا حالت ہے تو نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) سے کلام کرتا ہے لیکن نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) تجھ سے کلام نہیں کرتے اور ہم نے دیکھا کہ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) پر وحی نازل ہو رہی تھی۔ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) وحی سے فراغت کے بعد پسینہ صاف کر رہے تھے۔ پھر آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : سائل کدھر ہے ؟ گویا کہ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) اس کی تعریف کر رہے تھے۔ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : بھلائی شر کو نہیں لاتی اور موسم بہار جواُگاتا ہے وہ یا ہلاک کرتا ہے اور جو سر سبزچارہ کھانے والے جانور کا جب پیٹ بھر جاتا ہے تو وہ سورج کی جانب منہ کر کے بیٹھ جاتا ہے۔ پھر پیشاب اور گوبر کرتا ہی پھر چرناشروع کردیتا ہے اور یہ مال سر سبزوشاداب اور میٹھا ہے۔ مسلم کا بہترین مال وہ ہے جو وہ کسی مسکین ویتیم اور مسافرکو دیتا ہے جو اس کو بغیر حق کے لیتا ہے گویا کہ وہ کھاتا ہے لیکن سیر نہیں ہوتا اور وہ اس پر قیامت کے دن وبال ہوگا۔
5710 Ata Abu Saeed se naqal farmate hain ke Rasul Allah sallallahu alaihi wasallam mimbar per baithay aur hum aap sallallahu alaihi wasallam ke ird gird thay Aap sallallahu alaihi wasallam ne farmaya main apne baad tumhare upar khauf mehsoos karta hun jo duniya ki zeb o zeenat tumhare upar khol di jayegi Ek shakhs ne arz kiya bhalaayi shar ko layegi Aap sallallahu alaihi wasallam khamosh hogaye to us se kaha gaya teri kya halat hai tu Nabi sallallahu alaihi wasallam se kalām karta hai lekin Nabi sallallahu alaihi wasallam tujh se kalām nahin karte aur humne dekha ke aap sallallahu alaihi wasallam per wahi nazil ho rahi thi Aap sallallahu alaihi wasallam wahi se faraghat ke baad paseena saaf kar rahay thay phir aap sallallahu alaihi wasallam ne farmaya sail kidhar hai goya ke aap sallallahu alaihi wasallam us ki tareef kar rahay thay Aap sallallahu alaihi wasallam ne farmaya bhalaayi shar ko nahin laati aur mausam e bahar jo ugata hai woh ya halaak karta hai aur jo sar sabz chara khane wala janwar ka jab pet bhar jata hai to woh sooraj ki janib munh kar ke baith jata hai phir peshab aur gobar karta hi phir charna shuru kardeta hai aur yeh maal sar sabz o shad ab aur meetha hai Muslim ka behtarin maal woh hai jo woh kisi miskeen yateem aur musafir ko deta hai jo usko baghair haq ke leta hai goya ke woh khata hai lekin seer nahin hota aur woh is per qayamat ke din waabal hoga
Bara' ibn 'Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) ascended the pulpit, or he said: sat on the pulpit, we would sit facing him.

(٥٧١١) براء بن عازب (رض) فرماتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) جب منبر پرچڑھتے یا فرمایا : منبر پر بیٹھتے تو ہم آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کی طرف چہرہ کر کے بیٹھتے۔
(5711) Bara bin Aazib (RA) farmate hain ke Rasul Allah (SAW) jab mimbar par chadte ya farmaya: mimbar par bethte to hum aap (SAW) ki taraf chehra kar ke bethte.
Aban bin Abdullah Bajli said that I saw Adi bin Thabit, he was facing his face towards the Imam while he was delivering a sermon standing. I said to him: I saw that you are paying attention with your face. He said: I saw the companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) doing the same. The Shaykh said: Aban bin Abdullah narrated from Adi bin Thabit that the Companions used to do the same with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).

(٥٧١٢) ابان بن عبداللہ بجلی فرماتے ہیں کہ میں نے عدی بن ثابت کو دیکھا، وہ اپنا چہرہ امام کی طرف کیے ہوئے تھے جب وہ کھڑا خطبہ دے رہا تھا۔ میں نے ان سے کہا : میں نے دیکھا کہ آپ چہرہ کے ساتھ متوجہ ہوتے ہیں۔ فرمایا : میں نے رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے صحابہ کو دیکھا وہ ایسا ہی کرتے تھے۔ شیخ فرماتے ہیں کہ ابان بن عبداللہ عدی بن ثابت سے نقل فرماتے ہیں کہ صحابہ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے ساتھ ایسا ہی کرتے تھے۔
Aban bin Abdullah Bajli farmate hain ki maine Adi bin Sabit ko dekha, wo apna chehra Imam ki taraf kiye hue the jab wo khara khutba de raha tha. Maine unse kaha : maine dekha ki aap chehre ke sath mutawajjah hote hain. Farmaya : maine Rasul Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ke sahaba ko dekha wo aisa hi karte the. Sheikh farmate hain ki Aban bin Abdullah Adi bin Sabit se naql farmate hain ki sahaba Rasul Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ke sath aisa hi karte the.
It is narrated from Mu'ammar Zuhri that when the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) would start the sermon, he (Mu'ammar) would turn his face towards him (the Prophet ﷺ) until he (the Prophet ﷺ) finished the sermon.

(٥٧١٣) معمر زہری سے نقل فرماتے ہیں کہ جب رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) خطبہ شروع فرماتے تو وہ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کی طرف اپنے چہرا پھیر لیتے یہاں تک کہ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) خطبہ سے فارغ ہوتے۔
(5713) Muammar Zuhri se naql farmate hain ke jab Rasool Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) khutba shuru farmate to woh aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ki taraf apne chehra phair lete yahan tak ke aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) khutba se farigh hote.
Abu Juwairiyah narrated: I saw Anas bin Malik, the servant of the Prophet (ﷺ) on a Friday, when the Imam started the Khutbah he turned his face towards the Imam and remained in that position until the Imam finished the Khutbah.

(٥٧١٤) ابو جویریہ فرماتے ہیں : میں نے نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے خادم انس بن مالک کو دیکھا جب جمعہ کے دن امام خطبہ شروع کرتا تو وہ اپنا چہرہ امام کی طرف پھیر دیتے ۔ امام کے خطبہ سے فارغ ہونے تک اسی طرح رہتے۔
(5714) Abu Jawairiya farmate hain : mein ne Nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ke khadim Anas bin Malik ko dekha jab Jumu'ah ke din Imam khutba shuru karta to woh apna chehra Imam ki taraf phair dete . Imam ke khutba se farigh hone tak isi tarah rahte.
Nafi' narrates that Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) would finish his voluntary prayers before the arrival of the Imam. When the Imam would arrive, before he (the Imam) could sit down, Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) would turn towards him.

(٥٧١٦) نافع ابن عمر (رض) سے نقل فرماتے ہیں کہ وہ نوافل سے امام کے آنے سے پہلے فارغ ہوجاتے تھے۔ جب امام آجاتا تو اس کے بیٹھنے سے پہلے ہی وہ اپنا چہرہ ان کی طرف پھیر لیتے۔
Nafi ibn Umar (RA) se naql farmate hain ki woh nawafil se imam ke aane se pehle farigh hojate the. Jab imam aata to uske bethne se pehle hi woh apna chehra un ki taraf phir lete.
Thalabah bin Abi Malik Qurazi said: He found Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him), while we were talking to each other, and Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) was on the pulpit (after) the Mu'adh-dhin finished the Adhan and before Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) began the Khutbah. When Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) started the Khutbah, we would stop our talking and remain silent. Then nobody would speak until the Imam finished his Khutbah.

(٥٧١٧) ثعلبہ بن أبی مالک قرظی فرماتے ہیں کہ اس نے عمر بن خطاب (رض) کو پایا ، ہم آپس میں باتیں کرتے رہتے اور عمر (رض) منبر پر موجود ہوتے ” مؤذن کے اذان کو ختم کرتے وقت اور عمر (رض) کا خطبہ شروع کرنے سے پہلے۔ جب عمر (رض) خطبہ شروع فرماتے تو ہماری باتیں ختم اور ہم خاموش ہوجاتے۔ پھر امام کے خطبہ سے فارغ ہونے تک کوئی بات نہیں کرتا تھا۔
Saaliba bin Abi Malik Qarzi farmate hain ke usne Umar bin Khattab (RA) ko paya, hum aapas mein baaten karte rehte aur Umar (RA) mimbar par mojood hote “Moazzin ke azaan ko khatam karte waqt aur Umar (RA) ka khutba shuru karne se pehle. Jab Umar (RA) khutba shuru farmate to hamari baaten khatam aur hum khamosh hojate. Phir Imam ke khutba se farigh hone tak koi baat nahin karta tha.
