Chapter: Exception by swearing an oath.

Sunan al-Darimi 2379

It was narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whoever swears an oath and then says 'In sha Allah' (if Allah wills), then he has made an exception." (Meaning, if he does not fulfill his oath, then he will not be required to offer expiation).


Grade: Sahih

سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”جو کوئی قسم کھائے پھر ان شاء اللہ کہہ لے تو اس نے استثناء کر لیا۔“ (یعنی اب اگر قسم پوری نہ کرے تو بھی اس پر کفارہ لازم و واجب نہ ہوگا۔)

Sayyidna Ibn Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: ”Jo koi qasam khaye phir Insha Allah keh le to usne istisna kar liya.“ (Yaani ab agar qasam puri na kare to bhi us par kaffara lazim o wajib na hoga.)

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، عَنِ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , قَالَ: "مَنْ حَلَفَ عَلَى يَمِينٍ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ، فَقَدِ اسْتَثْنَى".
