Chapter on delivering a sermon on the pulpit and the command to glorify, praise, and magnify Allah with prayer during the eclipse until it clears.

Sahih Ibn Khuzaymah 1372
Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that during the lifetime of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), a solar eclipse occurred. People started saying that the eclipse was due to the demise of Sayyiduna Ibrahim (may Allah be pleased with him). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) stood up, delivered a sermon, and said: "Indeed, the sun and the moon are two signs amongst the signs of Allah. So, when you witness an eclipse, then glorify Allah by saying «الحَمْدُ لِلَٰه» , recite «اللهُ أَكْبَرُ» , recite «سُبْحَانَ اللَٰه» , and continue to pray until the eclipse ends." Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) stated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) then came down (from the pulpit) and offered two rak'ahs of prayer.

سیدنا ابن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہ بیان کرتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے عہد مبارک میں سورج کو گرہن لگ گیا تو لوگ کہنے لگے کہ سورج گرہن سیدنا ابراہیم رضی اللہ عنہ کی وفات کہ وجہ سے ہوا ہے۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کھڑے ہوئے، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے لوگو ں کو خطبہ دیا اور فرمایا: ”بیشک سورج اور چاند اللہ تعالیٰ کی نشانیوں میں سے دو نشانیاں ہیں۔ لہٰذا جب تم گرہن دیکھو تو اللہ تعالیٰ کی تعریف بیان کرو «الحَمْدُ لِلَٰه» پڑھو «اللهُ أَكْبَرُ» پڑھو اور «سُبْحَانَ اللَٰه» پڑھو، اور اس وقت تک نماز پڑھو جب تک ان میں سے جسے بھی گرہن لگا ہے اس کا گرہن صاف نہ ہو جائے سیدنا ابن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہ فرماتے ہیں کہ پھر رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم (منبر سے) اُترے تو دو رکعات نماز پڑھائی۔
Sayyidna Ibn Masood Radi Allahu Anhu bayan karte hain ke Rasool Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ke ahad mubarak mein sooraj ko giraftan lag gaya to log kahne lage ke sooraj giraftan Sayyidna Ibrahim Radi Allahu Anhu ki wafat ki wajah se hua hai. Rasool Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam kharay huye, Aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne logon ko khutba diya aur farmaya: "Beshak sooraj aur chand Allah Ta'ala ki nishaniyon mein se do nishaniyan hain. Lihaza jab tum giraftan dekho to Allah Ta'ala ki tareef bayan karo «Alhamdulillah» parho «Allahu Akbar» parho aur «Subhan Allah» parho, aur us waqt tak namaz parho jab tak in mein se jise bhi giraftan laga hai us ka giraftan saaf na ho jaye. Sayyidna Ibn Masood Radi Allahu Anhu farmate hain ke phir Rasool Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam (minbar se) utre to do rakaat namaz parhai.
نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بَزِيعٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بَحْرٍ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ الْبَكْرَاوِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ ، عَنْ حَمَّادٍ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ ، قَالَ: انْكَسَفَتِ الشَّمْسُ فِي عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ النَّاسُ: إِنَّمَا انْكَسَفَتْ لِمَوْتِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، فَقَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَخَطَبَ النَّاسَ، فَقَالَ:" إِنَّ الشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ آيَتَانِ مِنْ آيَاتِ اللَّهِ، فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُمْ ذَلِكَ فَاحْمَدُوا اللَّهَ، وَكَبِّرُوا، وَسَبِّحُوا، وَصَلُّوا حَتَّى يَنْجَلِيَ كُسُوفُ أَيِّهِمَا انْكَسَفَ" . قَالَ: ثُمَّ نَزَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ
