Regarding counting tasbih and the number of pebbles
فِي عَقْدِ التَّسْبِيحِ وَعَدَدِ الْحَصَى
Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah 7656
Hazrat Yaseera, who is a migrant companion, narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to the women, "You should recite La ilaha illallah, Subhanallah and Allahu Akbar in abundance, and count them on your fingertips, for you will be questioned about them on the Day of Judgment, and they will speak. Do not be heedless, otherwise you will be deprived of mercy."
حضرت یسیرہ جو کہ ایک مہاجرہ صحابیہ ہیں، فرماتی ہیں کہ رسول اللہ حضور (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے عورتوں سے فرمایا کہ تم لا الہ الا اللہ، سبحان اللہ اور اللہ اکبر کثرت سے کہا کرو، اور انھیں انگلیوں کے پوروں پر گنا کرو، کیونکہ قیامت کے ان سے سوال کیا جائے گا اور یہ بولیں گے۔ تم غافل نہ ہونا ورنہ رحمت سے محروم ہوجاؤ گی۔
Hazrat Yasira jo keh aik muhajir sahabi hain, farmati hain keh Rasool Allah huzur (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne auraton se farmaya keh tum La ilaha illallah, Subhan Allah aur Allah Akbar kasrat se kaha karo, aur unhen ungliyon ke pooron per gina karo, kyunki qayamat ke din se sawal kiya jaye ga aur yeh bolen ge. Tum ghafil na hona warna rehmat se mehroom hojao gi.
A woman from Banu Kalb said that once Hazrat Aisha saw me counting Tasbihat with the prayer beads in my hand. She said to me, "Where are the witnesses of the Day of Judgment, meaning the fingers?"
بنو کلب کی ایک عورت کہتی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ حضرت عائشہ نے مجھے دیکھا کہ میں اپنے پاس موجود تسبیحوں سے تسبیحات کو شمار کررہی تھی۔ انھوں نے مجھ سے فرمایا کہ قیامت کے دن کے گواہ یعنی انگلیاں کہاں ہیں ؟
Bnu Kalb ki aik orat kehti hai keh aik martaba Hazrat Aisha ne mujhe dekha keh mein apne pas mojood tasbihon se tasbihat ko shumaar kar rahi thi. Unhon ne mujh se farmaya keh qayamat ke din ke gawah yani ungliyan kahan hain?
It was the practice of Hazrat Abu Saeed that he would take three pebbles and place them on one of his thighs. Then he would say Tasbeeh once and pick up one pebble, then he would say Tasbeeh and pick up one pebble, then he would say Tasbeeh and pick up the third pebble as well. Then he would put all the pebbles back and repeat the same process. And he would say, "Do not say Tasbeeh in such a way that the sound of whistling starts coming."
حضرت ابو سعید کا معمول یہ تھا کہ وہ تین کنکریاں لیتے اور انھیں اپنی ایک ران پر رکھتے۔ پھر ایک مرتبہ تسبیح کہتے اور ایک کنکری اٹھاتے، پھر تسبیح کہتے اور ایک کنکری اٹھاتے ، پھر تسبیح کہتے اور تیسری کنکری بھی اٹھالیتے۔ پھر سب کنکریوں کو واپس رکھ کریہی عمل دہرایا کرتے تھے۔ اور فرماتے کہ اس طرح تسبیح نہ کہو کہ سیٹی کی آواز آنے لگے۔
Hazrat Abu Saeed ka mamol yeh tha ke woh teen kankriyan lete aur unhen apni aik ran par rakhte. Phir aik martaba tasbeeh kehte aur aik kankri uthate, phir tasbeeh kehte aur aik kankri uthate, phir tasbeeh kehte aur teesri kankri bhi utha lete. Phir sab kankriyon ko wapas rakh kar yahi amal dohraya karte the. Aur farmate ke is tarah tasbeeh na kaho ke seeti ki aawaz aane lage.
A man from Taif said: I was once on a journey with Hadrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him). He had a bag with him which contained pebbles or date stones. He would recite "SubhanAllah" on each of them. When the bag emptied, he would give it to a black slave woman and she would gather them and put them back in the bag.
طفاوہ کے ایک آدمی کہتے ہیں کہ میں حضرت ابوہریرہ کے ساتھ ایک سفر میں تھا، ان کے پاس ایک تھیلی تھی جس میں کنکریاں یا گٹھلیاں تھیں۔ وہ ان پر سبحان اللہ، سبحان اللہ پڑھتے تھے۔ جب وہ تھیلی خالی ہوجاتی تو اسے ایک سیاہ باندی کودے دیتے وہ پھر انھیں جمع کرکے اس میں ڈال دیتی۔
Tifaaha ke aik aadmi kehte hain ke mein Hazrat Abu Hurairah ke sath aik safar mein tha, unke pas aik thaili thi jis mein kankriyan ya guthliyan thin. Woh in par Subhan Allah, Subhan Allah parhte thay. Jab woh thaili khali hojati to usay aik siyah bandi ko de dete woh phir unhein jama karke us mein daal deti.
Hazrat Zaazan narrates that I took the prayer beads of Umm Yafoor from her and when I came to Hazrat Ali, he said, "Return her prayer beads to her."
حضرت زاذان فرماتے ہیں کہ میں نے ام یعفور سے ان کی تسبیح کرنے کی گٹھلیاں لیں اور جب میں حضرت علی کے پاس آیا تو انھوں نے فرمایا کہ ان کی گٹھلیاں انھیں واپس کردو۔
Hazrat Zaazan farmate hain keh maine Umm Yafoor se un ki tasbeeh karne ki guthliyan lin aur jab main Hazrat Ali ke paas aaya to unhon ne farmaya keh un ki guthliyan unhen wapas kardo.
Hazrat Ibrahim, the muezzin of Banu Hanifa, states that when Hajjaj ordered the execution of Mahan Hanfi and they were hanged on the wood, I was watching them. They were reciting Subhan Allah, Allahu Akbar, La Ilaha Illallah, and Alhamdulillah. They were also counting these words on their fingers, and when they reached the count of nineteen, they were speared in that state. I saw them a month later, and even then, their hands were indicating counting up to nineteen. At night, a light was seen near them.
بنو حنیفہ کے مؤذن حضرت ابراہیم فرماتے ہیں کہ جب حجاج نے ماہان حنفی کو سولی دینے کا حکم دیا اور انھیں لکڑی پر لٹکایا گیا تو میں انھیں دیکھ رہا تھا۔ وہ سبحان اللہ، اللہ اکبر، لا الہ الا اللہ اور الحمد للہ پڑھ رہے تھے۔ وہ ان کلمات کو انگلیوں پر شمار بھی کررہے تھے، جب وہ انتیس کے عدد تک پہنچے تو انھیں اسی حال میں نیزہ مار دیا گیا۔ میں نے انھیں ایک مہینہ بعد دیکھا تو اس وقت بھی ان کے ہاتھ انتیس تک گننے کو ظاہر کررہے تھے۔ رات کو ان کے پاس ایک روشنی دکھائی دیتی تھی۔
