Chapter on the encouragement to seek Laylat al-Qadr on the night of the twenty-third.
باب الترغيب في طلبها ليلة ثلاث وعشرين

Abdullah bin Anees (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "I was shown the night of Laylat al-Qadr, then it was made to be forgotten by me, and I was shown that in the morning of that night, I was prostrating in water and mud." The narrator said: "We were rained upon on the twenty-third night, so the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) led us in prayer. Then when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) turned away, there were traces of water and mud on his nose and forehead." So Abdullah bin Anees would say: "It is the twenty-third night."

(٨٥٣٦) عبداللہ بن انیس (رض) بیان کرتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : میں لیلۃ القدر دکھایا گیا۔ پھر بھلادیا گیا اور مجھے دکھایا گیا کہ اس رات کی صبح میں پانی ومٹی میں سجدہ کر رہاہوں۔ راوی کہتے ہیں کہ ہم تیئسویں رات کو بارش دیے گئے تو آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے ہمیں نماز پڑھی ۔ پھر آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) پھرے تو پانی ومٹی کے نشانات آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے ناک اور پیشانی پر تھے تو عبداللہ بن انیس کہا کرتے تھے کہ وہ تئیسویں رات ہے۔
(8536) Abdullah bin Anees (Razi Allah Anho) bayan karte hain ke Rasool Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne farmaya: Main Lailatul Qadr dikhaya gaya. Phir bhula diya gaya aur mujhe dikhaya gaya ke us raat ki subah main pani o mitti main sajdah kar raha hun. Rawi kehte hain ke hum teesoven raat ko barish diye gaye to aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne hamain namaz parhayi. Phir aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) phire to pani o mitti ke nishanat aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ke nak aur peshani par thay to Abdullah bin Anees kaha karte thay ke woh teesven raat hai.
Abdullah bin Anis (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that we were in the village. We said: If we take our wives and children with us, it will be difficult for us. If we leave them behind, they might face some trouble. So they sent me to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and I was the youngest of them. So I conveyed their message to you (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). So you (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) ordered us to stay for thirty-three nights.

(٨٥٣٧) عبداللہ بن انیس (رض) بیان کرتے ہیں کہ ہم گاؤں میں تھے ۔ ہم نے کہا : اگر ہم بیوی بچوں کو ساتھ لے کر جاتے ہیں تو ہم پر مشکل ہے۔ اگر انھیں پیچھے چھوڑتے ہیں تو انھیں کوئی پریشانی آسکتی ہے تو انھوں نے مجھے رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کی طرف بھیجا اور میں سب سے چھوٹا تھا تو میں نے ان کی بات آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کو بتائی تو آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے ہمیں تیئس رات کو قیام کا حکم دیا۔
(8537) Abdullah bin Anees (RA) bayan karte hain keh hum gaon mein thay. Hum ne kaha: Agar hum biwi bachchon ko saath lekar jate hain to hum par mushkil hai. Agar inhen peeche chhorte hain to inhen koi pareshani aa sakti hai to unhon ne mujhe Rasool Allah (SAW) ki taraf bheja aur main sab se chhota tha to main ne in ki baat aap (SAW) ko batai to aap (SAW) ne humein tais raat ko qayam ka hukum diya.
(8538) Narrated Abdullah bin Anis from his father: I said: O Messenger of Allah! I live in the countryside and, praise be to Allah, I pray. Assign me a night when I can come to this mosque. So, he (ﷺ) said: Come on the thirty-third night. I asked my son: What did your grandfather use to do? He said: He would enter the mosque after having prayed 'Asr. Then, he would not leave except for a need until he had prayed Fajr. And when he had prayed Fajr, he would find his mount at the door. He would ride it and come to his village.

(٨٥٣٨) عبداللہ بن انیس جھنی اپنے باپ سے بیان کرتے ہیں کہ میں نے کہا : اے اللہ کے رسول ! میں دیہات میں رہتا ہوں اور الحمداللہ میں نماز پڑھتا ہوں۔ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) مجھے ایک رات کا حکم دیں تاکہ میں اس مسجد میں آؤں تو آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : تو تیئسویں رات کو آؤ۔ میں نے اپنے بیٹے سے کہا : تیرے والد کیا کرتے تھے۔ اس نے کہا : وہ مسجد میں داخل ہوتے جب عصر کی نماز پڑھ لیتے ۔ پھر وہ سوائے حاجت کے نہ نکلتے حتیٰ کہ فجر کی نماز پڑھ لیتے اور جب صبح کی نماز پڑھ لیتے تو اپنی سواری کو دروازے پر پاتے اور اس پر بیٹھ کر اپنے گاؤں کو آجاتے۔
(8538) Abdullah bin Anees Jahni apne baap se bayan karte hain keh maine kaha: Aye Allah ke Rasool! mein dehaat mein rehta hun aur Alhamdulillah mein namaz parhta hun. Aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) mujhe ek raat ka hukum den taake mein is masjid mein aaun to Aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne farmaya: To teesvin raat ko aao. Maine apne bete se kaha: Tere wald kya karte the. Usne kaha: Woh masjid mein daakhil hote jab Asr ki namaz parh lete. Phir woh siwae hajat ke na nikalte hatta keh Fajar ki namaz parh lete aur jab Subah ki namaz parh lete to apni sawari ko darwaze par pate aur is par baith kar apne gaon ko aajate.
Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “How much of the month has passed?” They said, “Twenty-two days have passed, and eight remain.” The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “Rather, twenty-two have passed and seven remain, so seek it in seven nights.”

(٨٥٣٩) ابوہریرہ (رض) بیان کرتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : مہینہ کس قدر گزر گیا ہے ؟ تو انھوں نے کہا : بائیس گزر گئے اور آٹھ باقی ہیں تو آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : بلکہ بائیس گزر چکے اور سات باقی ہیں لھذا سات راتوں میں تلاش کرو۔
(8539) Abu Huraira (RA) bayan karte hain ke Rasul Allah (SAW) ne farmaya: Mahina kis qadar guzar gaya hai? To unhon ne kaha: Baais guzar gaye aur aath baqi hain to aap (SAW) ne farmaya: Balke baais guzar chuke aur saat baqi hain lihaza saat raaton mein talaash karo.
Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: We were with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) when the people mentioned Laylat al-Qadr. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "How much of the month has passed?" They said, "Twenty-two days have passed and eight remain." He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Twenty-two have passed and seven remain. The month has twenty-nine days. So seek it in the night." So Abu Nu'aym said: Yes.

(٨٥٤٠) ابوہریرہ (رض) بیان کرتے ہیں کہ ہم رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے پاس تھے تو لوگوں نے لیلۃ القدر کا تذکرہ کیا تو رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : مہینہ کس قدر گزر چکا ہے ؟ انھوں نے کہا : بائیس اور آٹھ باقی ہیں۔ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : بائیس گزر چکے اور سات باقی ہیں۔ مہینہ انتیس کا ہوتا ہے۔ سو تم رات میں تلاش کرو تو ابو نعیم نے کہا : جی ۔
Abu Hurairah bayan karte hain ke hum Rasool Allah ke pass thay to logon ne Lailatul Qadr ka tazkara kiya to Rasool Allah ne farmaya: Mahina kis qadar guzar chuka hai? Unhon ne kaha: Baais aur aath baqi hain. Aap ne farmaya: Baais guzar chuke aur saat baqi hain. Mahina untees ka hota hai. So tum raat mein talash karo to Abu Naeem ne kaha: Ji.
Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that we were discussing the Night of Decree when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked, "How much of the month has passed?" We replied, "Twenty-two days have passed and eight remain." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Rather, twenty-two have passed and seven remain. So seek it on the twenty-ninth."

(٨٥٤١) ابوہریرہ (رض) بیان کرتے ہیں کہ ہم نے لیلۃ القدر کا تذکرہ کیا تو آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : مہینہ کس قدر گزرچکا ؟ ہم نے کہا : بائیس دن اور آٹھ باقی ہیں تو آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : بائیس گزر چکے اور سات باقی ہیں۔ لہٰذا اسے تلاش کرو انتیس کی رات کو۔
Abu Hurairah (RA) bayan karte hain ke hum ne Lailatul Qadr ka tazkira kiya to aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne farmaya: Mahina kis qadar guzar chuka? Hum ne kaha: Baais din aur aath baqi hain to aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne farmaya: Baais guzar chuke aur saat baqi hain. Lihaza ise talaash karo untis ki raat ko.
Ibrahim Aswad (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that Abdullah said: “Seek the Night of Decree in the last ten nights of Ramadan, on the morning of twenty-first or twenty-second.”

(٨٥٤٢) ابراہیم اسود (رض) سے بیان کرتے ہیں کہ عبداللہ نے کہا : لیلۃ القدر کو تلاش کرو مسترہ کی صبح گویا پھر اکیس بائیس کی۔
(8542) ibrahim aswad (rz) se bayan karte hain ki abdullah ne kaha : laylatul qadr ko talaash karo mustarah ki subah goya phir ikkis baais ki.
Abdullah bin Masud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to us: "Seek it on the seventeenth of Ramadan, and on the twenty-first, and on the twenty-third." Then he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) fell silent.

(٨٥٤٣) عبداللہ بن مسعود (رض) بیان کرتے ہیں : ہمیں رسول کریم (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : اسے تلاش کرو رمضان کی سترہ کو اور اکیس کو اور تئیس کو۔ پھر آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) خاموش ہوگئے۔
8543 Abdullah bin Masood (RA) bayan karte hain : humein Rasool Kareem (SAW) ne farmaya : ise talaash karo Ramzan ki satra ko aur ikkis ko aur teis ko. Phir aap (SAW) khamosh hogaye.
