Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that I was with Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) and there were other companions with him. Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) asked them, "Regarding the Night of Decree, about which the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, 'Seek it in the last ten nights, on an odd night,' which night do you think it is?" Some of them said, "The first night," and some said, "The third night," and some of them said, "The fifth night," and some said, "The seventh night," and I remained silent. So they said, "Why are you silent? Why don't you speak?" I said, "You told me not to speak until you had spoken." They said, "I sent for you so that you would also speak." I said, "I have heard that Allah, the Exalted, mentions seven: seven heavens and likewise seven earths, and man is created from seven things. The produce of the earth is also of seven kinds." Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "I do not know what you are talking about. So tell me this: what are the seven kinds of produce of the earth?" They said, "Allah, the Exalted, says, 'Indeed, We have made the earth to split open, and We have caused to grow therein grain, and grapes, and herbs, and olives, and date-palms, and gardens of dense foliage.' By gardens of dense foliage are meant date-palm orchards, and by 'and fruits and fodder' is meant what the earth grows that animals and cattle eat but humans do not eat." Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said to his companions, "You have been defeated and left speechless, that you would say the same thing that this child has said, whose brain veins have not yet fully developed. By Allah! I also think the same as he does."

(٨٥٥٩) عبداللہ بن عباس (رض) بیان کرتے ہیں کہ میں عمر (رض) کے پاس تھا اور ان کے پاس دیگر ساتھی بھی تھے تو عمر (رض) نے ان سے پوچھا کہ لیلۃ القدر کے بارے جو رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کا فرمان ہے کہ ( (الْتَمِسُوہَا فِی الْعَشْرِ الأَوَاخِرِ وِتْرًا) ) تم کونسی رات سمجھتے ہو تو ان میں سے بعض نے کہا : پہلی رات اور بعض نے کہا : تیسری رات اور ان میں سے بعض نے کہا : پانچویں رات اور بعض نے کہا : ساتویں رات اور میں خاموش تھا تو انھوں نے کہا : تو کیوں خاموش ہے کلام کیوں نہیں کرتا ؟ میں نے کہا : آپ نے مجھے کہا کہ جب تک وہ کلام کریں میں کلام نہ کروں۔ انھوں نے کہا : میں نے پیغام اس لیے بھیجا کہ تو بھی کلام کرے۔ میں نے کہا : میں نے سنا ہے کہ اللہ سبحانہ و تعالیٰ سات کا تذکرہ کرتے ہیں کہ سات آسمان اور ایسی ہی سات زمینیں اور انسان بھی سات ہی چیزوں پر بنایا گیا ۔ زمین کی پیداوار بھی سات اقسام میں ہے تو عمر (رض) نے کہا : یہ جو آپ نے خبر دی ہے میں نہیں جانتا۔ لہٰذا مجھے بتاؤ یہ بات کہ زمین کی پیداوارسات ہیں وہ کیا ؟ انھوں نے کہا : اللہ تعالیٰ فرماتے ہیں {إِنَّا شَقَقْنَا الأَرْضَ شَقًّا فَأَنْبَتْنَا فِیہَا حَبًّا وَعِنَبًا وَقَضْبًا وَزَیْتُونًا وَنَخْلاً وَحَدَائِقَ غُلْبًا } سے مراد کھجوروں کے باغات ہیں اور درختوں { وَفَاکِہَۃً وَأَبَا } سے الاب سے مراد جب زمین اگاتی ہے اور جانور و چوپائے کھاتے ہیں انسان نہیں کھاتا وہ کہتے ہیں تو عمر (رض) نے کہا : اپنے ساتھیوں سے تم عاجز آچکے ہولاجواب ہوچکے کہ تم بھی ایسی بات کہتے جو اس بچے نے کہی ہے جس کے دماغ کی شریانیں ابھی مکمل نہیں ہوئیں ۔ اللہ کی قسم ! میں بھی یہی خیال کرتا ہوں جو اس کا ہے۔
(8559) Abdullah bin Abbas (Razi Allah Anhuma) bayan karte hain ki main Umar (Razi Allah Anhu) ke paas tha aur un ke paas deegar saathi bhi thay to Umar (Razi Allah Anhu) ne un se poocha ke Lailatul Qadr ke bare jo Rasool Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ka farman hai ke ((altimusooha fil ashril awaakhiri witran)) tum kon si raat samajhte ho to un men se baz ne kaha: Pehli raat aur baz ne kaha: Teesri raat aur un men se baz ne kaha: Panchvin raat aur baz ne kaha: Saatvin raat aur main khamosh tha to unhon ne kaha: To kyon khamosh hai? Kalaam kyon nahin karta? Maine kaha: Aap ne mujhe kaha ke jab tak wo kalaam karen main kalaam na karoon. Unhon ne kaha: Maine paigham is liye bhi bheja ke tu bhi kalaam kare. Maine kaha: Maine suna hai ke Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala saat ka tazkira karte hain ke saat aasman aur aisi hi saat zameenain aur insaan bhi saat hi cheezon par banaya gaya. Zameen ki paidaawar bhi saat aqsam men hai. To Umar (Razi Allah Anhu) ne kaha: Ye jo aap ne khabar di hai main nahin janta. Lihaza mujhe batao yeh baat ke zameen ki paidaawar saat hain wo kya? Unhon ne kaha: Allah Ta'ala farmate hain {inna shaqaqnal arda shaqqan faanbatna feeha habban wa'inaban waqadban wazaytoonan wanakhlaa wanhadaa'iqa gulban} se murad khajuron ke bagh hain aur drakhton {wafakihatan wa'aban} se alab se murad jab zameen ugati hai aur janwar o chopaye khate hain insaan nahin khata wo kahte hain. To Umar (Razi Allah Anhu) ne kaha: Apne saathiyon se tum aajiz aa chuke ho? Lajawab ho chuke ke tum bhi aisi baat kahte jo is bache ne kahi hai jis ke dimagh ki sharyanain abhi mukammal nahin huin? Allah ki qasam! Main bhi yahi khayaal karta hun jo is ka hai.
