Zirr ibn Hubaysh (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: I asked Ubayy ibn Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) about the Mu'awwidhatayn (Surat Al-Falaq and Surat An-Nas). He said: I was commanded with them, so I recited them.
We also say the same: as the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) recited them.

(٤٠٤٤) زر بن حبیش (رض) فرماتے ہیں : میں نے ابی بن کعب (رض) سے معوذتین کے بارے میں پوچھا تو انھوں نے فرمایا : یہ مجھے کہا گیا تھا تو میں نے کہہ دیا۔
ہم بھی اسی طرح کہتے ہیں : جس طرح رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے کہا۔
Zar bin Habish (RA) farmate hain : main ne Ubayy bin Ka'b (RA) se mu'awwidhatain ke bare mein poocha to unhon ne farmaya : yeh mujhe kaha gaya tha to main ne keh diya. Hum bhi isi tarah kahte hain : jis tarah Rasul Allah (SAW) ne kaha.
Zur bin Hubaysh (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: I asked Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) about Mu'awwidhatayn (Surat Al-Falaq and Surat An-Nas) and said: O Abu Mundhir! Verily, your brother Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) does not consider them to be part of the Qur'an. He said: I asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and you (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "These words were said to me, so I said them." Therefore, we also say them as the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said them.

(٤٠٤٥) زر بن حبیش (رض) فرماتے ہیں کہ میں نے ابی بن کعب (رض) سے معوذتین کے بارے میں دریافت کیا اور کہا : اے ابومنذر ! بیشک آپ کا بھائی ابن مسعود (رض) ان کو قرآن میں شمار نہیں کرتا۔ انھوں نے کہا : میں نے رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) سے پوچھا تو آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : یہ کلمات مجھے کہے گئے تھے تو میں نے کہے۔ لہٰذا ہم بھی اسی طرح کہتے ہیں جس طرح رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے کہے ہیں۔
Zar bin Habish farmate hain keh maine Ubayy bin Kaab se muawwizatein ke bare mein daryaft kiya aur kaha: Aye Abul Mundhir! Beshak aap ka bhai Ibn Masood unko Quran mein shumar nahi karta. Unhon ne kaha: Maine Rasulullah se poocha to aap ne farmaya: Yeh kalimat mujhe kahe gaye the to maine kahe. Lihaza hum bhi isi tarah kehte hain jis tarah Rasulullah ne kahe.
(4046) (a) Uqbah bin Amir Jahni (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "A few Surahs have been revealed to me that are like no other, they are Al-Mu'awwidhatain (Surah Al-Falaq and Surah An-Nas)."
(b) In the narration of Muhammad bin 'Ubayd (may Allah be pleased with him), the wording is: "A few Surahs have been revealed to me tonight that are like no other, they are Al-Mu'awwidhatain."

(٤٠٤٦) (ا) عقبہ بن عامر جہنی (رض) فرماتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : مجھ پر چند ایسی آیات نازل کی گئی ہیں کہ ان جیسی کسی نے نہیں دیکھیں، وہ معوذتین مراد لے رہے تھے۔
(ب) محمد بن عبید (رض) کی روایت کے الفاظ یہ ہیں : ” مجھ پر (آج) رات چند ایسی آیات نازل ہوئیں کہ ان جیسی میں نے نہیں دیکھیں، وہ معوذتین ہیں۔
(4046) (a) Aqba bin Aamir Jahni (rz) farmate hain keh Rasul Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne farmaya: mujh par chand aisi ayat nazil ki gai hain keh in jaisi kisi ne nahi dekhin, woh mu'awwizatain muraad le rahe thay.
(b) Muhammad bin Ubaid (rz) ki riwayat ke alfaz yeh hain: "mujh par (aaj) raat chand aisi ayat nazil huin keh in jaisi maine nahi dekhin, woh mu'awwizatain hain.
Uqbah bin Amir Al-Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: I was leading the she-camel of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) during a journey. He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "O Uqbah! Shall I not teach you two of the best surahs that are recited?" I said, "Why not, O Messenger of Allah?" He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) then taught me {Say: "I seek refuge with the Lord of daybreak"} and {Say: "I seek refuge with the Lord of mankind"}. He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) noticed that I was not very happy. Then, he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) led the morning prayer and recited these two surahs (Mu'awwidhatain). When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) finished the prayer, he said to me, "O Uqbah! What do you think (of these surahs)?"

(٤٠٤٧) عقبہ بن عامر جہنی (رض) فرماتے ہیں : دورانِ سفر میں رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کی اونٹنی کے آگے آگے چلتا رہا، آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : اے عقبہ ! کیا میں تمہیں دو بہترین سورتیں نہ سکھاؤں جو پڑھی جاتی ہیں ؟ میں نے کہا : کیوں نہیں ! اے اللہ کے رسول ! آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے مجھے { قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ } اور { قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ } سکھائیں۔ آپ نے محسوس کیا کہ مجھے کوئی زیادہ خوشی نہیں ہوئی۔ پھر آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے کو صبح کی نماز پڑھائی تو یہ دو سورتیں (معوذتین) تلاوت فرمائیں۔ جب رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نماز سے فارغ ہوئے تو مجھے فرمایا : اے عقبہ ! تمہارا (ان سورتوں کے بارے میں) کیا خیال ہے ؟
(4047) Aqba bin Aamir Jahni (RA) farmate hain : dauran e safar mein Rasool Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ki untni ke aage aage chalta raha, Aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne farmaya : Aye Aqba! kya main tumhen do behtarin surtein na sikhaun jo parhayi jati hain? mein ne kaha : kyun nahi! Aye Allah ke Rasool! Aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne mujhe {Qul Auzu Bi Rabbi Al Falaq} aur {Qul Auzu Bi Rabbi An Nas} sikhaien. Aap ne mehsoos kiya ke mujhe koi zyada khushi nahi hui. Phir Aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne ko subah ki namaz parhayi to yeh do surtein (Muawwidhatain) tilawat farmaien. Jab Rasool Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) namaz se farigh hue to mujhe farmaya : Aye Aqba! tumhara (in surton ke bare mein) kya khayal hai?
Narrated 'Uqba bin 'Amir: During a journey, I was leading the she-camel of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). He (ﷺ) said, "O 'Uqba! Shall I not teach you two of the best Surahs of the Qur'an?" Then he (ﷺ) taught me: "Say: I seek refuge with the Lord of the daybreak" (113) and "Say: I seek refuge with the Lord of mankind" (114). The Prophet (ﷺ) noticed that I was not too happy, so when he (ﷺ) dismounted to lead the people in the Fajr prayer the next morning, he recited the same two Surahs in the prayer. When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) finished the prayer, he turned towards me and said, "O 'Uqba! What do you think of these Surahs?"

(٤٠٤٨) عقبہ بن عامر (رض) سے روایت ہے کہ میں دورانِ سفر رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کی اونٹنی کے آگے آگے چلتا رہا پس آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : اے عقبہ ! کیا میں تمہیں دو بہترین سورتیں نہ سکھاؤں جو تلاوت کی جاتی ہیں ؟ پھر آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے { قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ } اور { قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ } سکھائیں۔ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے محسوس کیا کہ مجھے کوئی زیادہ خوشی نہیں ہوئی تو صبح جب آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) لوگوں کو صبح کی نماز پڑھانے کے لیے اترے تو نماز میں یہی دو سورتیں تلاوت فرمائیں۔ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) جب نماز سے فارغ ہوئے تو میری طرف متوجہ ہو کر فرمایا : اے عقبہ ! تمہارا ان سورتوں کے بارے کیا خیال ہے ؟
4048 Aqba bin Aamir (RA) se riwayat hai keh mein dauran e safar Rasool Allah (SAW) ki oonthni ke aage aage chalta raha pas aap (SAW) ne farmaya: Aye Aqba! kya mein tumhen do behtarin suratain na sikhaun jo tilawat ki jati hain? Phir aap (SAW) ne {Qul a'udhu bi Rabbi l-falaq} aur {Qul a'udhu bi Rabbi n-nas} sikhaen. Aap (SAW) ne mehsoos kiya keh mujhe koi zyada khushi nahin hui to subah jab aap (SAW) logon ko subah ki namaz parhane ke liye utre to namaz mein yahi do suratain tilawat farmaen. Rasool Allah (SAW) jab namaz se farigh hue to meri taraf mutawajjah ho kar farmaya: Aye Aqba! tumhara in suratoun ke bare kya khayal hai?
(4089) Narrated 'Abdul Rahman bin Jubair bin Nufayr from his father, from 'Uqbah bin 'Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) that he asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) about the three Quls (Surat Al-Ikhlas, Surat Al-Falaq, and Surat An-Nas). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) recited them in the Fajr prayer while leading the prayer.

(٤٠٨٩) عبد الرحمن بن جبیر بن نفیر اپنے والد سے روایت کرتے ہیں اور وہ عقبہ بن عامر (رض) سے روایت کرتے ہیں کہ انھوں نے رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) سے معوذ تین کے بارے میں دریافت کیا تو رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے امامت کے دوران فجر کی نماز میں ان کو تلاوت کیا ۔
(4089) Abdur Rahman bin Jabir bin Nafeer apne walid se riwayat karte hain aur wo Aqba bin Aamir (RA) se riwayat karte hain ke unhon ne Rasulullah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) se muawwidhat teen ke bare mein دریافت kia to Rasulullah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne imamat ke dauran Fajar ki namaz mein unko tilawat kia.
Sayyiduna 'Uqbah ibn 'Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: Once I was traveling with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) between Juhfah and Abwa', when suddenly a black cloud overtook us. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) began to seek refuge with {أعوذ برب الفلق} and {أعوذ برب الناس} (I seek refuge in the Lord of the daybreak. I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind.) and he said, "O 'Uqbah! Seek refuge with these two (Surahs), for no one has ever sought refuge with anything like them." 'Uqbah ibn 'Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) said: And he (the Prophet) would recite these two Surahs during our prayers.

(٤٠٥٠) سیدنا عقبہ بن عامر (رض) فرماتے ہیں کہ ایک دفعہ میں رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے ساتھ جحفہ اور ابواء کے درمیان سفر کررہا تھا کہ اچانک سیاہ کالی آدھی نے ہمیں گھیر لیا تو رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) { أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ } اور { أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ } کے ساتھ پناہ طلب کرنے لگے۔ ترجمہ : میں صبح کے رب کی پناہ مانگتا ہوں۔ میں انسانوں کے رب کی پناہ مانگتا ہوں اور فرمانے لگے : اے عقبہ ! ان دونوں (معوذتین) کے ساتھ پناہ طلب کر، کسی پناہ حاصل کرنے والے نے ان دونوں جیسی پناہ حاصل نہیں کی۔ عقبہ بن عامر (رض) فرماتے ہیں : آپ ہماری امامت کے دوران ان دونوں کی تلاوت کرتے تھے۔
