Chapter on One Person Calling to Prayer and Another Performing Iqamah

Sunan al-Kubra Bayhaqi 1869
Ziyad bin Haritha Sada'i narrates: I came to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him). I gave the call to prayer (Adhan) for Fajr. Then, Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) came and was about to say the Iqamah (the second call to prayer). The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, "O Bilal! The brother of Sada has given the Adhan, and whoever gives the Adhan should also give the Iqamah."

(١٨٦٩) زیاد بن حارث صدائی فرماتے ہیں کہ میں رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے پاس آیا، میں نے فجر کی اذان دی تو سیدنا بلال (رض) آئے وہ اقامت کہنے لگے تو رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : اے بلال ! صداء کے بھائی نے اذان دی ہے اور جو اذان دے وہی اقامت کہے۔
1869 Zyad bin Haris Sadai farmate hain keh main Rasul Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ke pas aya, maine fajr ki azan di to Sayyidna Bilal (RA) aye woh iqamat kehne lage to Rasul Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne farmaya : aye Bilal! Sadai ke bhai ne azan di hai aur jo azan de wohi iqamat kahe.
(1870) It is narrated from Sayyidina Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was on a journey and the time for prayer came. The people stopped and searched for Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) but they could not find him. Then a man stood up and gave the call to prayer (adhan). Then Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) came and the people said: "Someone else has already given the adhan and the people have already assembled." Then Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) intended to lead the prayer, but the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to him: "O Bilal! Stop. Let the one who gave the adhan lead the prayer."

(١٨٧٠) سیدنا ابن عمر (رض) سے روایت ہے کہ نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) اپنے ایک سفر میں تھے کہ نماز کا وقت ہوگیا، لوگوں نے پڑاؤ ڈالا اور بلال (رض) کو تلاش کیا تو وہ نہ ملے پھر ایک شخص کھڑا ہوا اور اذان دی، پھر بلال (رض) آئے تو لوگوں نے کہا : اذان ایک دوسرے شخص نے دی ہے اور لوگ ٹھہرے رہے، پھر بلال (رض) نے اقامت کہنے کا ارادہ کیا تو نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے انھیں فرمایا : اے بلال ! رک جا اقامت وہی کہے جو اذان دے۔
1870 Saidna Ibn Umar (RA) se riwayat hai ke Nabi (SAW) apne ek safar mein thay ke namaz ka waqt hogaya, logon ne padav dala aur Bilal (RA) ko talash kiya to woh na milay phir ek shakhs khara huwa aur azan di, phir Bilal (RA) aye to logon ne kaha: azan ek doosre shakhs ne di hai aur log thehre rahe, phir Bilal (RA) ne iqamat kehne ka irada kiya to Nabi (SAW) ne unhen farmaya: aye Bilal! ruk ja iqamat wohi kahe jo azan de.
'Abd al-'Aziz b. Rafi' said: I saw Abu Mahdhurah; he came, and someone had already given the call to prayer (adhan) before him; then he gave the call to prayer and said the words for starting the prayer (iqamah).

(١٨٧١) عبد العزیز بن رفیع کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے ابو محذورہ (رض) کو دیکھا وہ آئے اور ان سے پہلے کسی شخص نے اذان دے دی پھر انھوں نے اذان دی اور اقامت کہی۔
(1871) Abdul Aziz bin Rafi' kehte hain ki main ne Abu Mahzura (Raz) ko dekha woh aaye aur un se pehle kisi shakhs ne azaan de di phir unhon ne azaan di aur iqamat kahi.
(1872) It is narrated on the authority of Sayyidina Abdullah bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) that he saw the method of Adhan in a dream, then he came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and told him about it. He said that Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) gave the Adhan and my uncle came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah! I have also seen a dream and Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) is giving the Adhan." You (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "So stand up," then my uncle pronounced the Iqamah.

(١٨٧٢) سیدنا عبداللہ بن زید (رض) سے روایت ہے کہ انھوں نے خواب میں اذان کا طریقہ دیکھا، پھر وہ نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے پاس آئے اور آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کو یہ بات بتلائی، فرماتے ہیں کہ بلال (رض) نے اذان دی اور میرے چچا نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے پاس آئے اور کہا : اے اللہ کے رسول ! میں نے بھی خواب دیکھا اور بلال (رض) اذان دے رہے ہیں۔ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : تو کھڑا ہو، پھر میرے چچا نے اقامت کہی۔
(1872) Sayyidna Abdullah bin Zaid (RA) se riwayat hai ki unhon ne khwab mein azan ka tarika dekha, phir wo Nabi (SAW) ke pass aaye aur aap (SAW) ko ye baat batlaayi, farmate hain ki Bilal (RA) ne azan di aur mere chacha Nabi (SAW) ke pass aaye aur kaha : aye Allah ke Rasool ! mein ne bhi khwab dekha aur Bilal (RA) azan de rahe hain. Aap (SAW) ne farmaya : to khara ho, phir mere chacha ne iqamat kahi.
Abdullah bin Zaid (R.A.) narrates from his grandfather that, "I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and informed him how I had seen the Adhan (call to prayer). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, 'Teach it to Bilal (R.A.), for his voice is louder than yours." When Bilal (R.A.) called the Adhan, Abdullah (R.A.) felt a bit uneasy. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) then instructed him to pronounce the Iqamah (second call to prayer).

(١٨٧٣) سیدنا عبداللہ بن زید اپنے دادا سے نقل فرماتے ہیں کہ میں نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے پاس آیا، میں نے آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کو خبر دی کہ میں نے کس طرح اذان دیکھی ہے تو آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : ” بلال (رض) کو سکھا دے، اس کی آواز تجھ سے زیادہ ہے۔ “ جب بلال (رض) نے اذان دی تو سیدنا عبداللہ (رض) پریشان ہوئے، انھیں رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے حکم دیا تو انھوں نے اقامت کہی۔
(1873) Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Zaid apne dada se naqal farmate hain keh main Nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ke pass aaya, main ne aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ko khabar di keh main ne kis tarah azan dekhi hai to aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne farmaya : "Bilal (RA) ko sikha de, us ki aawaz tujh se ziada hai." Jab Bilal (RA) ne azan di to Sayyiduna Abdullah (RA) pareshan hue, unhen Rasulullah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne hukm diya to unhon ne iqamat kahi.
Sayyiduna Abu 'Umair bin Anas narrates that my paternal uncle, who was from the Ansar and a companion of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), told me that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) arranged... It is mentioned therein that Abdullah bin Zaid was ill in those days, and the Ansar thought that he was not ill. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) appointed him as the mu'adhdhin (caller to prayer).

(١٨٧٤) سیدنا ابو عمیر بن انس فرماتے ہیں کہ مجھ کو میرے پھوپھا جان جو انصار ی تھے اور نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے صحابی تھے نے بیان فرمایا کہ نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے اہتمام کیا۔۔۔ اس میں ہے کہ عبداللہ بن زید ان دنوں میں بیمار تھے اور انصار گمان کرتے تھے کہ وہ مریض نہیں تھے۔ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے انھیں مؤذن بنادیا۔
(1874) Syedna Abu Omair bin Anas farmate hain ke mujh ko mere phoopha jaan jo Ansar the aur Nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ke sahabi the ne bayan farmaya ke Nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne ahtimam kiya... Is mein hai ke Abdullah bin Zaid in dino mein bimar thay aur Ansar guman karte thay ke wo mariz nahi thay. Rasul Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne unhen muazzin banadiya.
