Anas bin Malik (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated that the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) fell down from a horse and his right side was grazed. We went to him to inquire after his health when the time of prayer came. He led us in prayer in a sitting posture and we prayed behind him sitting, and when he finished the prayer he said: The Imam is appointed only to be followed; so when he recites takbir, you should also recite that; when he prostrates, you should also prostrate; when he rises up, you should also rise up, and when he said - َُّ ُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهسَمِعَ َّللا[Allah listens to him who praises Him], you should say - َُ بَّنَا وَلَكَ الْحَمْدر[ Our Lord, for You is the Praise], and when he prays sitting, all of you should pray sitting.
حضرت انس بن مالک رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ بیان کرتے ہیں کہ نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم گھوڑے سے گر گئے تو آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کا دایاں پہلو چھل گیا، ہم آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی عیادت کے لیے آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس حاضر ہوئے تو نماز کا وقت ہو گیا، آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ہمیں بیٹھ کر نماز پڑھائی اور ہم نے بھی آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پیچھے بیٹھ کر نماز ادا کی، جب آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے پوری نماز پڑھا دی تو فرمایا: ”امام اس لیے مقرر کیا گیا ہے تاکہ اس کی اقتدا(پیروی) کی جائے تو جب وہ تکبیر کہہ لے تو تم تکبیر کہو اور جب وہ سجدہ کرے تو تم بھی سجدہ کرو جب وہ اٹھے تو تم بھی اٹھو، جب وہ سَمِعَ اللّٰہُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَہ کہے، تو تم رَبَّنَا وَلَكَ الْحَمْد، کہو اور جب وہ بیٹھ جائے تو تم بھی بیٹھ کر نماز پڑھو۔“
Hazrat Anas bin Malik (Radiallahu Ta'ala Anhu) bayan karte hain ke Nabi Akram (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ghode se gir gaye toh Aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ka dayaan pehlu chhal gaya, hum Aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ki iyadat ke liye Aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ke paas hazir hue toh namaz ka waqt ho gaya, Aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne humein baith kar namaz parhayi aur hum ne bhi Aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ke peeche baith kar namaz ada ki, jab Aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne poori namaz parha di toh farmaya: "Imam is liye muqarrar kiya gaya hai taka us ki iqtida (pairwi) ki jaye toh jab woh takbeer keh le toh tum takbeer kaho aur jab woh sajda kare toh tum bhi sajda karo jab woh uthe toh tum bhi utho, jab woh 'Sami-allahu liman hamidah' kahe, toh tum 'Rabbana walakal hamd' kaho aur jab woh baith jaye toh tum bhi baith kar namaz parho."

حضرت انس بن مالک رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم گھوڑے سے گر گئے تو چھل گئے اور ہمیں بیٹھ کر نماز پڑھائی، آگے سابقہ حدیث ہے۔

حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رُمْحٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا اللَّيْثُ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ خَرَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم عَنْ فَرَسٍ فَجُحِشَ فَصَلَّى لَنَا قَاعِدًا . ثُمَّ ذَكَرَ نَحْوَهُ .
Sahih Muslim 411c
Anas bin Malik (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated that the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) fell down from a horse and his right side was grazed and the rest of the hadith is the same with the addition of these words: "When he (the Imam) prays standing, you should also do so."
حضرت انس بن مالک رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم گھوڑے سے گر پڑے تو آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کا دایاں پہلو چھل گیا، آگے مذکورہ بالا روایت ہے اور اس میں اتنا اضافہ ہے، جب امام کھڑا ہو کر نماز پڑھائے تو تم بھی کھڑے ہو کر نماز پڑھو۔

Anas bin Malik (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated that the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) fell down from a horse and his right side was grazed and the rest of the hadith is the same, and (these words) are found in it : "When he (the Imam) prays in an standing posture, you should also follow it in an standing posture."
حضرت انس بن مالک رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم گھوڑے پر سوار ہوئے اور اس سے گر پڑے، اس سے آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کا دایاں پہلو چھل گیا، آگے مذکورہ بالا روایت ہے اور اس میں بھی یہ ہے: ”جب وہ (امام) کھڑے ہو کر نماز پڑھائے تو تم بھی کھڑے ہو کر نماز پڑھو۔“
Hazrat Anas bin Malik (Radiallahu Ta'ala Anhu) se riwayat hai ke Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ghode par sawaar hue aur is se gir pare, is se Aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ka dayaan pehlu chhal gaya, aage mazkoora bala riwayat hai aur is mein bhi yeh hai: "Jab woh (Imam) khade ho kar namaz parhaye toh tum bhi khade ho kar namaz parho."
Anas bin Malik (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated that the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) fell down from a horse and his right side was grazed and the rest of the hadith is the same. In this Hadith there are no additions (of words) as transmitted by Yunus and Malik.
حضرت انس بن مالک رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم اپنے گھوڑے سے گر پڑے، جس سے آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی دائیں جانب چھل گئی، آگے سابقہ حدیث بیان کی، اس میں یونس اور مالک والا اضافہ نہیں ہے۔

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَنَسٌ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم سَقَطَ مِنْ فَرَسِهِ فَجُحِشَ شِقُّهُ الأَيْمَنُ . وَسَاقَ الْحَدِيثَ وَلَيْسَ فِيهِ زِيَادَةُ يُونُسَ وَمَالِكٍ .
Sahih Muslim 412a
Ummul Momineen A'isha (رضي الله تعالى عنها) narrated that the Apostle of Allah ( صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) fell ill and some of his Companions came to inquire about his health. The Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) prayed sitting, while (his Companions) prayed (behind him) standing. He (the Prophet ﷺ) directed them by his gesture to sit down, and they sat down (in prayer). After finishing the (prayer) he (the Prophet ﷺ) said: The Imam is appointed so that he should be followed, so bow down when he bows down, and rise up when he rises up and pray sitting when he (the Imam) prays sitting.
حضرت عائشہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم بیمار پڑ گئے، آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے کچھ ساتھی آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی بیمار پرسی کے لیے حاضر ہوئے، رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے بیٹھ کر نماز شروع کی اور انہوں نے آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی اقتدا میں کھڑے ہو کر نماز پڑھنی شروع کی آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے انہیں بیٹھنے کا اشارہ کیا تو وہ بیٹھ گئے، جب آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نماز سے فارغ ہو گئے تو آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”امام اسی لیےبنایا جاتا ہے کہ اس کی اقتد کی جائے، جب وہ رکوع کرے تو تم بھی رکوع کرو، جب وہ رکوع سے اٹھے تو تم بھی اٹھو، جب وہ بیٹھ کر نماز پڑھائے تو تم بھی بیٹھ کر نماز پڑھو۔“
Hazrat Aisha (Radiallahu Ta'ala Anha) se riwayat hai ke Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) bimar par gaye, Aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ke kuch sathi Aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ki bimar pursi ke liye hazir hue, Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne baith kar namaz shuru ki aur unhon ne Aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ki iqtida mein khade ho kar namaz parhni shuru ki Aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne unhein baithne ka ishaara kiya toh woh baith gaye, jab Aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) namaz se farigh ho gaye toh Aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne farmaya: "Imam isi liye banaya jata hai ke us ki iqtida ki jaye, jab woh ruku kare toh tum bhi ruku karo, jab woh ruku se uthe toh tum bhi utho, jab woh baith kar namaz parhaye toh tum bhi baith kar namaz parho."
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَةُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتِ اشْتَكَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَدَخَلَ عَلَيْهِ نَاسٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ يَعُودُونَهُ فَصَلَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم جَالِسًا فَصَلَّوْا بِصَلاَتِهِ قِيَامًا فَأَشَارَ إِلَيْهِمْ أَنِ اجْلِسُوا . فَجَلَسُوا فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ قَالَ " إِنَّمَا جُعِلَ الإِمَامُ لِيُؤْتَمَّ بِهِ فَإِذَا رَكَعَ فَارْكَعُوا وَإِذَا رَفَعَ فَارْفَعُوا وَإِذَا صَلَّى جَالِسًا فَصَلُّوا جُلُوسًا " .
Sahih Muslim 412b
This Hadith is narrated with the same chain of transmitters by Hisham bin 'Urwa.
امام صاحب اپنے مختلف اساتذہ سے مذکورہ بالا حدیث بیان کرتے ہیں۔
Imam Sahab apne mukhtalif asatiza se mazkoora bala hadees bayan karte hain.
. Jabir (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated that the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) was ill and we prayed behind him and he was sitting. And Abu Bakr (رضي الله تعالى عنه) was making audible to the people his takbir. As he paid his attention towards us he saw us standing and (directed us to sit down) with a gesture. So we sat down and prayed in a sitting posture. After the salutation he said : You were at this time about to do an act like that of the Persians and the Romans. They stand before their kings while they sit, so don't do that; follow your Imams. If they pray standing, you should also do so, and if they pray sitting, you should also pray sitting.
حضرت جابر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم بیمار پڑ گئے، اور ہم نے آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی اقتدا میں نماز پڑھی، اور آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم بیٹھے ہوئے تھے، اور ابو بکر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی تکبیر لوگوں کو سنا رہے تھے، آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ہماری طرف توجہ فرمائی اور ہمیں کھڑے ہوئے دیکھا تو آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ہمیں اشارہ فرمایا جس سے ہم بیٹھ گئے اور ہم نے آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی اقتدا میں بیٹھ کر نماز پڑھی، جب آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے سلام پھیرا فرمایا: ”تم ابھی وہ کام کرنا چاہتے تھے، جو فارسی اور رومی کرتے ہیں، وہ اپنے بادشاہوں کے حضور ان کے بیٹھے ہونے کی صورت میں کھڑے ہوتے ہیں، ایسا نہ کیا کرو، اپنے ائمہ کی اقتدا کرو، اگر وہ کھڑا ہو کر نماز پڑھائیں تو تم بھی کھڑے ہو کر نماز پڑھو اور اگر وہ بیٹھ کر نماز پڑھائے تو تم بھی بیٹھ کر نماز پڑھو۔“
Hazrat Jabir (Radiallahu Ta'ala Anhu) se riwayat hai ke Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) bimar par gaye, aur hum ne Aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ki iqtida mein namaz parhi, aur Aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) baithe hue thay, aur Abu Bakr (Radiallahu Ta'ala Anhu) Aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ki takbeer logon ko suna rahe thay, Aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne hamari taraf tawajjo farmayi aur humein khade hue dekha toh Aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne humein ishaara farmaya jis se hum baith gaye aur hum ne Aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ki iqtida mein baith kar namaz parhi, jab Aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne salam phera farmaya: "Tum abhi woh kaam karna chahte thay, jo Farsi aur Roomi karte hain, woh apne baadshahon ke huzoor un ke baithe hone ki surat mein khade hote hain, aisa na kiya karo, apne aimma ki iqtida karo, agar woh khada ho kar namaz parhayein toh tum bhi khade ho kar namaz parho aur agar woh baith kar namaz parhaye toh tum bhi baith kar namaz parho."
Jabir (رضئ هللا تعالی عنہ) narrated that the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) led the prayer and Abu Bakr (رضي الله تعالى عنه) was behind him. When the Apostle of Allah ( صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) recited the takbir, Abu Bakr (رضي الله تعالى عنه) also recited (it) in order to make it audible to us. And the rest of the Hadith is like one transmitted by Laith.
حضرت جابر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ہمیں جماعت کروائی اور ابوبکر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پیچھے تھے، جب رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم تکبیر کہتے ابوبکر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ بھی (بطور مکبّر) تکبیر کہتے تاکہ ہمیں سنائیں، آگے مذکورہ بالا روایت بیان کی۔
Hazrat Jabir (Radiallahu Ta'ala Anhu) se riwayat hai ke Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne humein jamaat karwayi aur Abu Bakr (Radiallahu Ta'ala Anhu) Aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ke peeche thay, jab Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) takbeer kehte Abu Bakr (Radiallahu Ta'ala Anhu) bhi (bator mukabbir) takbeer kehte taka humein sunayein, aage mazkoora bala riwayat bayan ki.
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى، أَخْبَرَنَا حُمَيْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرُّؤَاسِيُّ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، قَالَ صَلَّى بِنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ خَلْفَهُ فَإِذَا كَبَّرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم كَبَّرَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ لِيُسْمِعَنَا . ثُمَّ ذَكَرَ نَحْوَ حَدِيثِ اللَّيْثِ .
Sahih Muslim 414a
Abu Huraira (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated that the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said: The Imam is appointed, so that he should be followed, so don't be at variance with him. Recite takbir when he recites it; bow down when he bows down and when he says -
َُّ ُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهسَمِعَ َّللا[Allah listens to him who praises Him], say -
َُ بَّنَا لَكَ الْحَمْداللَّهُمَّ ر[O Allah, our Lord, to You is the Praise.] And when he (the Imam) prostrates, you should also prostrate, and when he prays sitting, you all should pray sitting behind him.
حضرت ابو ہریرہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”امام تو اقتدا کے لیے ہے، اس لیے اس کی مخالفت نہ کرو، لہٰذا جب وہ تکبیر کہے تو تم بھی تکبیر کہو جب وہ رکوع کرے تو تم بھی رکوع کرو اور جب وہ سَمِعَ اللهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ، کہے تو تم اللهُمَّ رَبَّنَا لَكَ الْحَمْدُ، کہو۔ اور جب وہ سجدہ کرے تو تم بھی سجدہ کرو وہ بیٹھ کر نماز پڑھائے تو تم سب بھی بیٹھ کر نماز پڑھو۔“
Hazrat Abu Hurairah (Radiallahu Ta'ala Anhu) se riwayat hai ke Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne farmaya: "Imam toh iqtida ke liye hai, is liye us ki mukhalifat na karo, lehaza jab woh takbeer kahe toh tum bhi takbeer kaho jab woh ruku kare toh tum bhi ruku karo aur jab woh 'Sami-allahu liman hamidah' kahe toh tum 'Allahumma Rabbana lakal hamd' kaho. Aur jab woh sajda kare toh tum bhi sajda karo woh baith kar namaz parhaye toh tum sab bhi baith kar namaz parho."
A Hadith like this has been related by Hammam bin Munabbih from the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) on the authority of Abu Huraira (رضي الله تعالى عنه).
امام صاحب ایک اور سند سے مذکورہ بالا روایت بیان کرتے ہیں۔

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَافِعٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنْ هَمَّامِ بْنِ مُنَبِّهٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم بِمِثْلِهِ .
