It is narrated on the authority of Hadrat 'Abdur Rahman bin Abi Layla (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "When any one of you wears a new garment, he should say: (Translation): All praise is for Allah Who has clothed me with that which I cover my private parts with and with that which I beautify myself with among the people."
حضرت عبد الرحمن بن ابی لیلیٰ سے روایت ہے۔ وہ کہتے ہیں کہ جناب رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے ارشاد فرمایا : ” جب تم میں سے کوئی نیا کپڑا پہنے تو اس کو یہ کہنا چاہیے۔ (ترجمہ): تمام تعریفیں اس اللہ کے لیے ہیں جس نے مجھے وہ (کپڑا) پہنایا جس کے ذریعہ میں اپنے ستر کو چھپاتا ہوں اور جس کے ذریعہ میں لوگوں میں جمال حاصل کرتا ہوں۔ “
Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Abi Laila se riwayat hai. Woh kehte hain ke janab Rasul Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne irshad farmaya : " Jab tum mein se koi naya kapda pehne to usko yeh kehna chahiye. (Tarjuma): Tamam tareefain us Allah ke liye hain jisne mujhe woh (kapda) pehnaya jiske zariye mein apne satar ko chhupata hun aur jiske zariye mein logon mein jamal hasil karta hun. "
It is narrated on the authority of Hazrat Abu Umamah that Hazrat Umar bin Khattab wore a new cloth, he said: All praise is due to Allah Who has clothed me with that which I cover my nakedness with and by which I adorn myself in my life." Then he said: "I heard the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saying: 'Whoever wears a new garment and says: 'All praise is due to Allah Who has clothed me with that which I cover my nakedness with and by which I adorn myself in my life,' then he takes off his old garment and gives it in charity, then this person will be in the mercy, protection and veil of Allah. In life and even after death." He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said this thrice.
حضرت ابو امامہ سے روایت ہے۔ وہ کہتے ہیں کہ حضرت عمر بن خطاب نے ایک نیا کپڑا پہنا، تو فرمایا : تمام تعریفیں اس اللہ کے لیے ہیں جس نے مجھے وہ کپڑا پہنایا جس کے ذریعہ میں اپنے ستر کو چھپاتا ہوں اور جس کے ذریعہ میں اپنی زندگی میں جمال حاصل کرتا ہوں۔ پھر آپ نے فرمایا : میں نے جناب نبی کریم (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کو کہتے سُنا : ” جو شخص نیا کپڑا پہنے اور یہ کہے : الْحَمْدُ لِلَّہِ الَّذِی کَسَانِی مَا أُوَارِی بِہِ عَوْرَتِی ، وَأُجَمِّلُ بِہِ فِی حَیَاتِی ، پھر وہ اپنے پرانے، اتارے ہوئے کپڑے کو لے اور اس کو صدقہ کر دے تو یہ شخص اللہ کی رحمت ، حفاظت اور پردہ میں رہے گا ۔ زندگی میں بی اور موت کے بعد بھی “ یہ بات آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے تین مرتبہ کہی۔

Woh kehte hain ke Hazrat Umar bin Khattab ne ek naya kapra pehna, to farmaya: Tamam tareefain iss Allah ke liye hain jisne mujhe woh kapra pehnaya jiske zariye main apne satar ko chhupata hun aur jiske zariye main apni zindagi mein jamal hasil karta hun. Phir aap ne farmaya: Main ne Janaab Nabi Kareem (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ko kehte suna: "Jo shakhs naya kapra pehne aur yeh kahe: Alhamdulillahillazi Kasani Ma Aowari Bihi A’urati, Wa Aj’ammilu Bihi Fi Hayati, phir woh apne purane, utaare hue kapre ko le aur iss ko sadqa kar de to yeh shakhs Allah ki rehmat, hifazat aur parda mein rahega. Zindagi mein bhi aur mout ke baad bhi." Yeh baat aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne teen martaba kahi.
A man from the tribe of Mazinah narrates that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saw a washed garment on Hazrat Umar and asked, "Is this garment of yours new?" Hazrat Umar replied, "O Messenger of Allah! It is washed." The narrator says, upon this the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to Hazrat Umar, "Wear new clothes, live a praiseworthy life and die a martyr's death. May Allah grant you coolness of eyes in this world and the hereafter."
قبیلہ مزینہ کا ایک شخص بیان کرتا ہے کہ جناب رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے حضرت عمر پر دھلا ہوا ایک کپڑا دیکھا تو آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے پوچھا۔ ” کیا تمہارا یہ کپڑا نیا ہے ؟ “ حضرت عمر نے عرض کیا۔ یا رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) ! دُھلا ہوا ہے۔ راوی کہتے ہیں۔ اس پر آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے حضرت عمر سے فرمایا : ” تم نیا کپڑا پہنو اور قابل تعریف زندگی گزارو اور شہادت کی موت پاؤ، اللہ تعالیٰ دنیا اور آخرت میں تمہیں آنکھ کی ٹھنڈک عطا کریں۔ “
Qabeela Mazeena ka aik shakhs bayan karta hai keh Janab Rasul Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne Hazrat Umar par dhula hua aik kapda dekha to aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne poocha, "kia tumhara yeh kapda naya hai?" Hazrat Umar ne arz kia, "Ya Rasul Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam)! dhula hua hai." Rawi kehte hain, is par aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne Hazrat Umar se farmaya: "Tum naya kapda pehno aur qabil e tareef zindagi guzaar aur shahadat ki mout pao, Allah Ta'ala duniya aur akhirat mein tumhein aankh ki thandak ata karein."
It is narrated from Hazrat Salim bin Abi al-Ja'd that he said that when a person wears new clothes and then says, 'O Allah! Bless us in this garment. We thank You for Your blessings in it, and we worship You well in it, and obey You in it.' So these clothes do not come down from the neck until that person is forgiven.
حضرت سالم بن ابی الجعد سے روایت ہے۔ وہ کہتے ہیں کہ جب آدمی نیا کپڑا پہنے اور پھر کہے۔ اے اللہ ! تو اس کپڑے کو مبارک بنا دے ہم اس میں تیری نعمت کا شکر کریں اور اس میں تیری اچھی طرح عبادت کریں اور اس میں تیری اطاعت کریں۔ تو یہ کپڑا گلے سے نیچے نہیں اترتا یہاں تک کہ اس آدمی کی مغفرت کردی جاتی ہے۔
Hazrat Salim bin Abi Al-Jad se riwayat hai. Wo kehte hain ki jab aadmi naya kapda pehne aur phir kahe. Aye Allah! Tu is kapde ko mubarak bana de hum is mein teri naimat ka shukar karen aur is mein teri acchi tarah ibadat karen aur is mein teri ita'at karen. To ye kapda gale se neeche nahi utarta yahan tak ki is aadmi ki magfirat kar di jati hai.
It is narrated on the authority of Hazrat Abu Nadra. He said that when the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would see new clothes on someone, they would say, "Wear it out, and may Allah grant you more after this."
حضرت ابو نضرہ سے روایت ہے۔ وہ کہتے ہیں کہ جناب نبی کریم (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے صحابہ جب خود میں سے کسی پر نیا کپڑا دیکھتے تو یہ کہتے۔ تُبْلِی ، وَیُخْلِفُ اللَّہُ عَلَیْک۔ (تم اس کپڑے کو پرانا کرو اور اللہ تمہیں اس کے بعد اور عطا کرے) ۔
Hazrat Abu Nazra se riwayat hai. Wo kehte hain ke janab nabi kareem (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ke sahaba jab khud mein se kisi par naya kapra dekhte to ye kehte. Tubli, wa yukhlifullah oalaik.
Hazrat Aun bin Abdullah narrates, he says that a man wore new clothes and praised Allah Almighty, so He admitted him to Paradise... or said... he was forgiven. The narrator says: Upon this, a man said that I would not return to my family until I wear new clothes and praise Allah for it.
حضرت عون بن عبداللہ بیان کرتے ہں ا ۔ کہتے ہیں کہ ایک آدمی نے نیا کپڑا پہنا اور اللہ تعالیٰ کی تعریف کی تو اس کو جنت میں داخل کردیا گیا۔۔۔یا فرمایا ۔۔۔اس کی مغفرت کردی گئی۔ راوی کہتے ہیں۔ اس پر ایک آدمی نے کہا میں اپنے گھر والوں کی طرف واپس نہیں جاؤں گا یہاں تک کہ میں نیا کپڑا پہن لوں اور اس پر اللہ کی تعریف کرلوں۔
