It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Abbas that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Do not fast before Ramadan. Fast when you see the crescent of Ramadan, and celebrate Eid when you see the crescent of Shawwal. If there is any obstruction of clouds in sighting the moon, then complete thirty days.
حضرت ابن عباس سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے ارشاد فرمایا کہ رمضان سے پہلے روزہ نہ رکھو۔ رمضان کا چاند دیکھ کر روزہ رکھو اور شوال کا چاند دیکھ کر عید مناؤ۔ اگر چاند دیکھنے میں بادلوں کی کوئی رکاوٹ ہو تو تیس دن پورے کرو۔
Hazrat Ibn Abbas se riwayat hai keh Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne irshad farmaya keh Ramzan se pehle roza na rakho. Ramzan ka chand dekh kar roza rakho aur Shawwal ka chand dekh kar Eid manaao. Agar chand dekhne mein badalon ki koi rukawat ho to tees din poore karo.
A companion narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Do not fast before Ramadan until you see the crescent moon, or complete thirty days of Sha'ban. And do not celebrate Eid until you see the crescent moon, or complete thirty days of fasting.
ایک صحابی روایت کرتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے ارشاد فرمایا کہ رمضان آنے سے پہلے روزہ نہ رکھو یہاں تک کہ تم چاند دیکھ لو یاشعبان کے تیس دن پورے کرلو۔ اس وقت تک عید نہ مناؤ جب تک چاند نہ دیکھ لو یا تیس روزے پورے نہ کرلو۔
Ek sahabi riwayat karte hain keh Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne irshad farmaya keh Ramzan aane se pehle roza na rakho yahan tak keh tum chand dekh lo ya Shaban ke tees din poore karlo. Is waqt tak Eid na manao jab tak chand na dekh lo ya tees rozey poore na karlo.
Hazrat Abdullah narrates that fast with the sighting of the moon and celebrate Eid with the sighting of the moon, if the moon is obscured by clouds then complete thirty days of fasting.
حضرت عبداللہ فرماتے ہیں کہ چاند دیکھ کر روزہ رکھو اور چاند دیکھ کر عید مناؤ، اگر بادل چھا جائیں تو تیس روزے پورے کرو۔
Hazrat Abdullah farmate hain keh chand dekh kar roza rakho aur chand dekh kar eid manao, agar badal chha jayen to tees roze pure karo.
It is narrated on the authority of Ibn Umar that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Observe fast on seeing the crescent moon and celebrate Eid on seeing the crescent moon, and if the moon is obscured from you, then complete the count.
حضرت ابن عمر سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے ارشاد فرمایا کہ چاند دیکھ کر روزہ رکھو اور چاند دیکھ کر عید مناؤ، اگر چاند نظر نہ آئے تو مقدار پوری کرلو۔

It is narrated on the authority of Hazrat Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Observe fast on seeing the crescent moon and celebrate Eid on seeing the crescent moon, and if the moon is not seen, then complete thirty days of fasting.
حضرت ابوہریرہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے ارشاد فرمایا کہ چاند دیکھ کر روزہ رکھو اور چاند دیکھ کر عید مناؤ، اگر چاند نظر نہ آئے تو تیس روزے پورے کرلو۔

It is narrated on the authority of Hazrat Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Refrain from fasting when half of Sha'ban has passed, until Ramadan.
حضرت ابوہریرہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے ارشاد فرمایا کہ نصف شعبان کے رمضان تک روزے سے رکے رہو۔

Hazrat Abu Bakhtari narrated that we set out for Umrah. When we reached a place called Batn Nakhlah, we saw the moon. Some people said it was the moon of the third night, while others said it was the moon of the second. Upon this, we met Hazrat Ibn Abbas and told him that we had seen the moon, and that some people were saying it was the moon of the third night while others were saying it was the moon of the second. He asked, "When did you see this moon?" We replied, "On such and such night." Hazrat Ibn Abbas said, "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said that Allah has prolonged the sighting of the moon. The night of the moon is the night on which you see it."
حضرت ابو بختری فرماتے ہیں کہ ہم عمرہ کے لیے روانہ ہوئے، جب ہم مقام بطن نخلہ پہنچے تو ہم نے کہا کہ ہمیں چاند نظر آگیا ہے، کچھ لوگوں نے کہا کہ یہ تیسری رات کا چاند ہے، کچھ نے کہا کہ یہ دوسری رات کا چاند ہے۔ اس پر ہم حضرت ابن عباس سے ملے اور ہم نے کہا کہ ہم نے چاند دیکھا ہے، کچھ لوگ کہتے ہیں کہ یہ تیسری رات کا چاند ہے اور کچھ نے کہا کہ یہ دوسری رات کا چاند ہے۔ انھوں نے کہا کہ تم نے یہ چاند کب دیکھا ؟ ہم نے کہا کہ فلاں رات میں۔ حضرت ابن عباس نے فرمایا کہ اللہ کے رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کا ارشاد ہے کہ اللہ تعالیٰ نے چاند کی رویت کو لمبا کیا ہے، چاند کی رات وہ ہوگی جس رات تم اسے دیکھو۔
Hazrat Abu Bakhtari farmate hain ke hum Umrah ke liye rawana huay, jab hum maqam Batn Nakhl pahunche to hum ne kaha ke humein chand nazar aagya hai, kuch logon ne kaha ke yeh teesri raat ka chand hai, kuch ne kaha ke yeh doosri raat ka chand hai. Iss par hum Hazrat Ibn Abbas se milay aur hum ne kaha ke hum ne chand dekha hai, kuch log kehte hain ke yeh teesri raat ka chand hai aur kuch ne kaha ke yeh doosri raat ka chand hai. Unhon ne kaha ke tum ne yeh chand kab dekha? Hum ne kaha ke falan raat mein. Hazrat Ibn Abbas ne farmaya ke Allah ke Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ka irshad hai ke Allah Ta'ala ne chand ki royat ko lamba kiya hai, chand ki raat woh hogi jis raat tum usay dekho.
Hazrat Abu Bakhtari narrates that we saw the moon of Ramadan in the place of Zat-ul-Arq. We sent a man to Hazrat Ibn Abbas to ask him about it. Hazrat Ibn Abbas said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said that Allah Almighty has made the sighting of the moon long. If you do not see the moon, then complete thirty days.
حضرت ابو بختری فرماتے ہیں کہ ہم نے مقام ذات عرق میں رمضان کا چاند دیکھا، ہم نے ایک آدمی حضرت ابن عباس کے پاس بھیجا جو ان سے اس بارے میں سوال کرے۔ حضرت ابن عباس نے فرمایا کہ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کا ارشاد ہے کہ اللہ تعالیٰ نے چاند کی رویت کو لمبا کیا ہے اگر تمہیں چاند نظر نہ آئے تو تم تیس دن پورے کرلو۔
Hazrat Abu Bakhtari farmate hain keh hum ne maqam zaat araq mein Ramzan ka chand dekha, hum ne aik aadmi Hazrat Ibn Abbas ke paas bheja jo un se iss baray mein sawal kare. Hazrat Ibn Abbas ne farmaya keh Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ka irshad hai keh Allah Ta'ala ne chand ki rooyat ko lamba kiya hai agar tumhein chand nazar na aaye to tum tees din poore karlo.
Hazrat Shabi narrates that when the month of Ramadan would arrive, Hazrat Ali would deliver a sermon in which he would say, "Beware! Do not anticipate the month. When you see the moon, then keep the fast. When you see the moon, then celebrate Eid. When the moon is not visible to you, then complete thirty days." Hazrat Ali used to say this after the Asr prayer and after the Fajr prayer.
حضرت شعبی فرماتے ہیں کہ جب رمضان کا مہینہ آتا تو حضرت علی خطبہ دیتے جس میں ارشاد فرماتے کہ خبردار ! مہینے سے آگے نہ بڑھو ، جب تم چاند دیکھو تو روزہ رکھو۔ جب چاند دیکھو تو عید مناؤ، جب چاند تمہیں نظر نہ آئے تو تیس دن پورے کرلو۔ حضرت علی یہ بات عصر کے بعد اور فجر کے بعد فرمایا کرتے تھے۔
Hazrat Shabi farmate hain ke jab Ramzan ka mahina aata to Hazrat Ali khutba dete jis mein irshad farmate ke khabar dar mahine se aage na barho jab tum chand dekho to roza rakho jab chand dekho to Eid manao jab chand tumhen nazar na aaye to tees din pure karlo Hazrat Ali yeh baat asr ke baad aur fajr ke baad farmaya karte the
Hazrat Abu Qilaba said that the predecessors used to sight the moon, when they saw the moon, they would fast, if they did not see it, they would wait for the word of their Imam.
حضرت ابو قلابہ فرماتے ہیں کہ اسلاف چاند کو دیکھا کرتے تھے، جب وہ چاند دیکھتے تو روزہ رکھتے، اگر نہ دیکھتے تو اپنے امام کی بات کا انتظار کرتے۔
Hazrat Abu Qalaba farmate hain ke Aslaf chand ko dekha karte thay, jab wo chand dekhte to roza rakhte, agar na dekhte to apne imam ki baat ka intezar karte.
