Chapter: What Has Been Related About How Much Response Is Given To The Sneezing Person

باب مَا جَاءَ كَمْ يُشَمَّتُ الْعَاطِسُ
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2743
Iyas bin Salamah narrated from his father that a man sneezed in the presence of the Apostle of Allah ( صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) while he was present, so the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said, ‘may Allah have mercy upon you’ ( ُ َّْ حَمُكُمُ ّللايَر).' Then he sneezed a second and third time. So, the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said, ‘this man is suffering from a cold.' Imam Tirmidhi said, this Hadith is Hasan Sahih. There is another chain for this Hadith from Iyas bin Salamah from his father, from the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) with similar narration, except that he said to him the third time, ‘you are suffering from a cold.’ Imam Tirmidhi said, and this is more correct than the narration of Ibn Al-Mubarak. Shu'bah reported this Hadith from 'Ikrimah bin 'Ammar and it is similar to the narration of Yahya bin Sa'id. There is another chain for this Hadith to support that. Abdur Rhaman bin Mahdi reported it from 'Ikrimah bin 'Ammar, and it is like the narration of Ibn Al-Mubarak, but he said to him the third time, ‘you are suffering from a cold. There is one more chain to support that.

سلمہ رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ میری موجودگی میں رسول اللہ ﷺ کے پاس ایک شخص کو چھینک آئی تو آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا: «يرحمك الله» ( اللہ تم پر رحم فرمائے ) پھر اسے دوبارہ چھینک آئی تو آپ نے فرمایا: ”اسے تو زکام ہو گیا ہے“ ۱؎۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: یہ حدیث حسن صحیح ہے۔
Salma (رضي الله تعالى عنه) kehte hain ke meri mojoodgi mein Rasool Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke paas ek shakhs ko chheenk aayi to Aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: «Yarrahamukallah» (Allah tum per rahm farmaye) phir usse dobara chheenk aayi to Aap ne farmaya: "Isse to zakaam ho gaya hai" 1؎. Imam Tirmizi kehte hain: yeh hadees hasan sahih hai.
حَدَّثَنَا سُوَيْدُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، أَخْبَرَنَا عِكْرِمَةُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ، عَنْ إِيَاسِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ الأَكْوَعِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ: عَطَسَ رَجُلٌ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَأَنَا شَاهِدٌ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: يَرْحَمُكَ اللَّهُ ثُمَّ عَطَسَ الثَّانِيَةَ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: هَذَا رَجُلٌ مَزْكُومٌ ، قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى: هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ.
