Chapter on the Permission to Wipe Over Khuffs for Those Who Put Them on in a State of Purity
باب رخصة المسح لمن لبس الخفين على الطهارة
Sunan al-Kubra Bayhaqi 1336
Sayyidina Mughirah bin Shubah narrates from his father that I was on a journey with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). He said, "Do you have water?" I said, "Yes." He dismounted from his ride and walked away until he was hidden from me in the darkness of the night. Then he came back, and I poured water from the vessel onto him. He washed his hands and face. He had a woolen garment on. He did not pull his arms out from underneath it but brought them out from under his garment and washed them, and then wiped his head. I then bent down to remove his leather socks, but he said, "Leave them, for I wore them while in a state of purity," and then he wiped over them.

(١٣٣٦) سیدنا مغیرہ بن شعبہ اپنے والد سے نقل فرماتے ہیں کہ میں ایک سفر میں نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے ساتھ تھا، آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : ” تیرے پاس پانی ہے ؟ “ میں نے عرض کیا : جی ہاں، آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) اپنی سواری سے اترے، پھر آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) چلے اور رات کی سیاہی میں مجھ سے چھپ گئے، پھر تشریف لائے تو میں نے برتن سے آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) پر پانی ڈالا، آپ نے ہاتھ اور چہرہ دھویا، آپ پر اونی جبہ تھا آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) اپنے بازوؤں کو اس سے نہ نکالس کے پھر ان کو اپنے جبے کے نیچے سے نکالا۔ اور انھیں دھویا اور اپنے سر کا مسح کیا، پھر میں جھکا تاکہ آپ کے موزے اتاروں۔ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : ” انھیں چھوڑو میں نے باوضوپہنے تھے، پھر آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے ان پر مسح کیا۔ “
(1336) Syedna Mugheerah bin Shubah apne walid se naql farmate hain ki main aik safar mein Nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ke sath tha, aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne farmaya : "Tere paas pani hai ?" Main ne arz kiya : Ji haan, aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) apni sawari se utre, phir aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) chale aur raat ki siyahi mein mujhse chhup gaye, phir tashreef laaye to main ne bartan se aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) par pani dala, aap ne hath aur chehra dhoya, aap par uni jubba tha aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) apne bazuon ko is se na nikals ke phir in ko apne jubbe ke neeche se nikala aur inhen dhoya aur apne sar ka masah kiya, phir main jhuka takah aap ke moze utaroon. Aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne farmaya : "Inhen chhoro main ne bawazu pehne the, phir aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne in par masah kiya."
'Urwah ibn Mughirah narrated from his father that he said: I said: O Messenger of Allah! Shall I take off your socks? He (the Prophet) said: I wore them for wudu, and after that I did not become junub.

(١٣٣٧) عروہ بن مغیرہ اپنے والد سے نقل فرماتے ہیں۔ اس میں ہے کہ میں نے کہا : اے اللہ کے رسول ! کیا میں آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے موزے اتار دوں ؟ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : میں نے باوضوپہنے تھے، اس کے بعد میں جنبی نہیں ہوا۔
1337 Urooj bin Mughirah apne walid se naql farmate hain iss mein hai ke maine kaha aye Allah ke Rasool kya main aap ke moze utar doon aap ne farmaya main ne bawazu pehne thay iss ke baad mein junubi nahi hua
(1338) (a) Hamza bin Mughirah narrates from his father that we were with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) on a journey. He (peace be upon him) said: “O Mughirah! You stay behind, and let the people go ahead.” I had water with me. When the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) returned after relieving himself, I poured water over him (peace be upon him). He washed his face, then started washing his hands. He (peace be upon him) was wearing a Roman jubbah with narrow sleeves. He (peace be upon him) drew his hands from underneath, washed them and wiped his head and his socks.
(b) Urwah bin Mughirah narrates from his father that I asked: “O Messenger of Allah! Do you wipe over your socks?” He (peace be upon him) said: “I wore them while in the state of ablution.”

(١٣٣٨) (الف) حمزہ بن مغیرہ اپنے والد سے نقل فرماتے ہیں کہ ہم ایک سفر میں رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے ساتھ تھے، آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : ” اے مغیرہ ! تو پیچھے رہ، اور لوگوں سیتم چلتے رہو، میرے پاس پانی تھا، رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) قضائے حاجت سے فارغ ہو کر لوٹے تو میں نے آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) پر پانی ڈالا، آپ نے اپنا چہرہ دھویا، پھر اپنے ہاتھ دھونا شروع ہوئے ، آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) پر رومی جبہ تھا اور اس کی آستین تنگ تھی، آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے اپنے ہاتھ نیچے سے سے نکالے، انھیں دھویا اور سر پر مسح کیا اور موزوں پر بھی مسح کیا۔
(ب) عروہ بن مغیرہ اپنے والد سے نقل فرماتے ہیں کہ میں نے پوچھا : اے اللہ کے رسول ! کیا آپ اپنے موزوں پر مسح کرتے ہیں ؟ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : ” میں نے یہ باوضوپہنے تھے۔ “
(1338) (alif) Hamza bin Mughirah apne walid se naql farmate hain ki hum aik safar mein Rasul Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ke sath the, aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne farmaya : "Aye Mughirah! Tu peeche reh, aur logon se alag chalte raho, mere pass pani tha, Rasul Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) qazae hajat se farigh ho kar lautے to main ne aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) per pani dala, aap ne apna chehra dhoya, phir apne hath dhona shuru huye, aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) per Rumi jubba tha aur us ki aasteen tang thi, aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne apne hath neeche se se nikale, unhen dhoya aur sar per masah kiya aur mozon per bhi masah kiya.
(be) Urwah bin Mughirah apne walid se naql farmate hain ki maine pucha : Aye Allah ke Rasul! Kya aap apne mozon per masah karte hain? Aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne farmaya : "main ne ye ba wazu pehne the."
(1339) Narrated by 'Abdul Rahman bin Abu Bakrah, from his father, from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that he (the Prophet) granted the traveler a concession to wipe over his socks for three days and three nights, and the resident for one day and one night, provided they were put on whilst in a state of ritual purity.

(١٣٣٩) سیدنا عبد الرحمن بن ابو بکرہ اپنیوالد سے اور وہ نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) سے نقل فرماتے ہیں کہ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے مسافر کو تین دن اور تین راتیں رخصت دی اور مقیم کو ایک دن اور ایک رات، جب باوضو موزے پہنے ہوں تاکہ ن پر مسح کریں۔
1339 saidna abd ur rahman bin abu bakrah apni walid se aur wo nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) se naql farmate hain ki aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne musafir ko teen din aur teen raaten rukhsat di aur muqeem ko ek din aur ek raat jab ba wazu moze pehne hon taake un par masah karen
(1340) Narrated 'Abdur-Rahman bin Abu Bakrah, from his father, from the Prophet (ﷺ) that he (ﷺ) granted the traveler a concession to wipe over his socks for three days and three nights, and the resident for one day and one night, when they put them on whilst in a state of Wudhu. (B) Imam Shafi'i (رح) narrated it from 'Abdul Wahhab, but Rabi' doubted this statement, meaning when they are put on in a state of Wudhu, whilst the statement of Imam Shafi'i is the wording of the Hadith.

(١٣٤٠) سیدنا عبد الرحمن بن ابوبکرہ اپنیوالد سے اور وہ نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) سے نقل فرماتے ہیں کہ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے مسافر کو تین دن اور تین راتیں رخصت دی اور مقیم کو ایک دن اور ایک رات جب باوضو موزے پہنے ہوں تاکہ ان پر مسح کریں۔ (ب) امام شافعی (رح) نے عبدالوہاب سے نقل کیا ہے، لیکن ربیع نے اس قول میں شک کیا ہے، یعنی جب باوضو موزے پہنے ہوں۔ جب کہ امام شافعی کا قول حدیث کے الفاظ ہی ہیں۔
(1340) Saidna Abdul Rahman bin Abubakra apni walid se aur wo Nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) se naql farmate hain ke aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne musafir ko teen din aur teen raaten rukhsat di aur muqeem ko ek din aur ek raat jab bawazu moze pehne hon takay un par masah karen. (b) Imam Shafi (rh) ne Abdulwahab se naql kiya hai, lekin Rabia ne is qaul mein shak kiya hai, yani jab bawazu moze pehne hon. Jab ke Imam Shafi ka qaul hadees ke alfaz hi hain.
Zar bin Hubaysh narrated that he went to Sa'd bin 'Asal al-Muradi and he said, "What brings you here?" He said, "Seeking knowledge." He said, "Indeed, the angels spread their wings for the seeker of knowledge out of pleasure with what he is doing." I said, "There is something that is bothering me in regards to wiping over the socks after relieving oneself or urinating, and you accompanied the Prophet (ﷺ) so I came to ask you about it, perhaps you heard something regarding it?" He said, "Yes! The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to command us, if we were on a journey- or he said -travelling, that we do not remove our socks for three days and three nights, except from Janabah (sexual defilement); but not from relieving ourselves, or urinating, or sleeping." He said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) saying, "A gate of repentance remains open in the west, the distance of which is seventy years; it will not be closed until the sun rises from that direction."

(١٣٤١) زر بن حبیش فرماتے ہیں کہ میں سیدنا صفوان بن عسال مرادی کے پاس آیا تو انھوں نے فرمایا : تجھے کون سی چیز لے کر آئی ہے ؟ میں نے کہا : علم کی تلاش میں آیا ہوں۔ انھوں نے کہا : بیشک فرشتہ طالب علم کے لیے اپنے پر بچھاتے ہیں تاکہ طالب علم کی رضا مندی حاصل کریں۔ میں نے کہا : قضائے حاجت اور پیشاب کرنے کے بعد موزوں پر مسح کرنے کے متعلق میرے دل میں بات کھٹک رہی ہے اور آپ نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے صحابہ میں سے ہیں، میں آپ کے پاس آیا ہوں تاکہ آپ سے سوال کروں کہ کیا آپ نے اس کے متعلق کچھ سنا ہے ؟ انھوں نے فرمایا : ہاں ! رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) ہم کو حکم دیا کرتے تھے کہ جب ہم سفر میں ہوں یا فرمایا مسافر ہوں تو تین دن اور تین راتیں موزے نہ اتاریں، مگر جنابت سے (اتاریں) اور قضائے حاجت ، پیشاب اور نیند سے نہیں۔ انھوں نے فرمایا : میں نے رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کو یہ فرماتے ہوئے سنا ہے کہ مغرب میں توبہ کا ایک دروازہکھلا ہوا ہے جس کی مسافت ستر سال ہے وہ بند نہیں ہوگا جب تک سورج اس طرف سے طلوع نہ ہو۔
Zar bin Habish farmate hain ki main Sayyidna Safwan bin Asal Muradi ke paas aaya to unhon ne farmaya: Tujhe kon si cheez lekar aayi hai? Main ne kaha: Ilm ki talaash mein aaya hun. Unhon ne kaha: Beshak Farishta talib ilm ke liye apne par bichate hain taake talib ilm ki raza mandi hasil karen. Main ne kaha: Qaza hajat aur peshab karne ke baad mozon par masah karne ke mutalliq mere dil mein baat khatak rahi hai aur aap Nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ke sahaba mein se hain, main aap ke paas aaya hun taake aap se sawal karun ki kya aap ne iske mutalliq kuchh suna hai? Unhon ne farmaya: Haan! Rasul Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) hum ko hukum diya karte the ki jab hum safar mein hon ya farmaya musafir hon to teen din aur teen raaten mozay na utaaren, magar janabat se (utaaren) aur qaza hajat, peshab aur neend se nahin. Unhon ne farmaya: Main ne Rasul Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ko ye farmate huye suna hai ki Maghrib mein tauba ka ek darwaza khula hua hai jis ki musafat sattar saal hai woh band nahin hoga jab tak Suraj us taraf se taloo na ho.
Sayyiduna Safwan bin 'Assal Muradi (RA) reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) sent us on a military expedition and said: "You can wipe over your leather socks for three days and three nights if you are traveling, and are in a state of wudu, and one day and one night if you are residing (not traveling)."

(١٣٤٢) سیدنا صفوان بن عسال مرادی فرماتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے ہمیں ایک سریہ میں بھیجا اور فرمایا : تم موزوں پر تین دن اور تین راتیں مسح کرو اگر مسافر ہو اور باوضو پہنے ہوں اور مقیم ایک دن اور ایک رات مسح کرے۔
(1342) Sayyidina Safwan bin Asal Muradi farmate hain keh Rasul Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne hamen ek sariya mein bheja aur farmaya: Tum mozon par teen din aur teen raaten masah karo agar musafir ho aur ba wazu pehne hon aur muqeem ek din aur ek raat masah kare.
Shuraih bin Hani reported: I went to Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, to ask her about wiping over the socks. She said: You should go to Ali, for he used to travel with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. So I went to him and said: We are in a land of intense cold and large pebbles. What is your opinion about wiping over the socks? He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say that the traveler may wipe over his socks for three days and three nights, and the resident for one day and one night, as long as they are worn directly on the feet.

(١٣٤٣) شریع بن ہانی سے روایت ہے کہ میں سیدہ عائشہ (رض) کے پاس موزوں پر مسح سے متعلق سوال کرنے آیاتوانھوں نے کہ فرمایا : تو علی (رض) کے پاس جا، وہ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے ساتھ سفر کرتے رہتے تھے۔ میں ان کے پاس آیا کہا : ہم ٹھنڈی اور بہت زیادہ اولوں والی زمین میں ہوتے ہیں، آپ کا موزوں پر مسح کے متعلق کیا خیال ہے ؟ انھوں نے کہا : میں نے رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کو فرماتے ہوئے سنا کہ مسافر کے لیے تین دن اور تین راتیں اور مقیم کے لیے ایک دن اور ایک رات ہے یہ اس وقت موزوں پر مسح کریں گے جب انھیں باوضو پہنا ہو۔
1343 sharih bin hani se riwayat hai keh mein sayyidah ayesha (raz) ke paas mozon par masah se mutalliq sawal karne aaya to unhon ne kaha farmaya: to ali (raz) ke paas ja, woh rasool allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ke sath safar karte rahte the. mein un ke paas aaya kaha: hum thhandi aur bahut zyada olon wali zameen mein hote hain, aap ka mozon par masah ke mutalliq kya khayal hai? unhon ne kaha: mein ne rasool allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ko farmate huye suna keh musafir ke liye teen din aur teen raaten aur muqeem ke liye ek din aur ek raat hai yeh us waqt mozon par masah karenge jab unhen bawazu pehna ho.
Abdullah bin Dinar narrated that he heard from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: I asked Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him): When one of us performs ablution and his feet are in socks (should he wipe over them)? He said: Yes, when he wears both socks in a state of purity (after ablution).

(١٣٤٤) عبداللہ بن دینار سے روایت ہے کہ میں نے سیدنا ابن عمر (رض) سے سنا : وہ کہتے تھے کہ میں نے سیدنا عمر بن خطاب (رض) سے پوچھا : جب ہم میں سے کوئی وضو کرے اور اس کے پاؤں موزوں میں ہوں (تو کیا وہ مسح کرے گا) ؟ انھوں نے فرمایا : ہاں جب وہ دونوں موزے باوضوپہنے ہوں۔
(1344) Abdullah bin Dinaar se riwayat hai keh maine Sayyidna Ibn Umar (RA) se suna: woh kehte thay keh maine Sayyidna Umar bin Khattab (RA) se poocha: jab hum mein se koi wuzu kare aur uske paon mozon mein hon (to kya woh masah karega)? Unhon ne farmaya: haan jab woh donon moze bawuzu pehne hon.
