باب ما لا يجوز من الكلام في الصلاة
Sunan al-Kubra Bayhaqi 3343
(3343) (a) Zaid bin Arqam narrated that in the beginning, some of us used to talk to the person next to us during prayer. When this verse was revealed: { وَ قُوْمُوْا لِلّٰہِ قٰنِتِیْنَ } [al-Baqarah: 238] "And stand before Allah in submission," we were commanded to observe silence and refrain from talking.
(b) Yahya al-Qattan narrated from Isma'il, from Harith bin Shabeeb, that we used to talk during prayer. Someone among us would speak to his brother if he needed something. But when this verse was revealed: { حٰفِظُوْا عَلَی الصَّلَوٰتِ وَ الصَّلٰوۃِ الْوُسْطٰی وَ قُوْمُوْا لِلّٰہِ قٰنِتِیْنَ } [al-Baqarah: 238] "Guard strictly (five obligatory) prayers especially the Middle Prayer. And stand before Allah with obedience," we were commanded to refrain from talking.

(٣٣٤٣) (ا) زید بن ارقم نے بیان کیا کہ شروع میں ہم میں سے کوئی شخص نماز کے دوران ساتھ والے آدمی سے بات وغیرہ کرلیا کرتا تھا۔ جب یہ آیت { وَ قُوْمُوْا لِلّٰہِ قٰنِتِیْنَ } [البقرۃ : ٢٣٨] ” اللہ کے سامنے خاموشی سے کھڑے ہوجاؤ۔ “ نازل ہوئی تو ہمیں خاموشی اختیار کرنے اور بات چیت سے باز رہنے کا حکم دیا گیا۔
(ب) یحییٰ قطان، اسماعیل سے اور وہ حارث بن شبیل سے نقل کرتے ہیں کہ ہم نماز میں کلام کیا کرتے تھے۔ ہم میں سے کوئی اپنے بھائی سے کسی بھی ضرورت کے تحت بات کرلیتا لیکن جب یہ آیت : { حٰفِظُوْا عَلَی الصَّلَوٰتِ وَ الصَّلٰوۃِ الْوُسْطٰی وَ قُوْمُوْا لِلّٰہِ قٰنِتِیْنَ } [البقرۃ : ٢٣٨] ” نمازوں پر محافظت کرو خصوصاً درمیانی نماز پر اور اللہ کے سامنے خاموشی سے کھڑے ہوجاؤ “ تو ہمیں بات چیت سے باز رہنے کا حکم دیا گیا۔

(3344) (a) Narrated Abdullah bin Masud (RA): When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was in prayer, we used to greet him with Salam, and he would respond to our Salam. When we returned from the Negus of Abyssinia, we greeted him, but he did not respond to us. So we said: "O Messenger of Allah! We used to greet you with Salam while you were in prayer, and you would respond to us." He (ﷺ) said: "There is engrossment in prayer."
(b) In the narration of Abu Bakr Shu'ba bin Walid, it is stated: We said: "O Messenger of Allah! You used to respond to our Salam, why did you not respond to our Salam today?" The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "There is engrossment in prayer."

(٣٣٤٤) (ا) حضرت عبداللہ بن مسعود (رض) بیان کرتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) حالت نماز میں ہوتے تو ہم آپ کو سلام کہتے اور آپ ہمیں سلام کا جواب دیتے۔ جب ہم شاہ حبشہ (نجاشی) سے لوٹ کر آئے تو ہم نے آپ کو سلام کیا لیکن آپ نے ہمیں کوئی جواب نہ دیا تو ہم نے کہا : اے اللہ کے رسول ! پہلے ہم آپ کو نماز میں سلام کہتے تھے تو آپ ہمیں جواب دے دیتے تھے ؟ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : نماز میں مشغولیت (مصروفیت) ہوتی ہے۔
(ب) ابوبدر شجاع بن ولید کی حدیث میں ہے کہ ہم نے عرض کیا : اے اللہ کے رسول ! آپ ہمیں سلام کا جواب دیا کرتے تھے کیا وجہ ہے آج آپ نے سلام کا جواب نہیں دیا ؟ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : نماز میں مصروفیت ہوتی ہے۔
(3344) (a) Hazrat Abdullah bin Masood (Razi Allahu Anhu) bayan karte hain ke Rasool Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) halat namaz mein hote to hum aap ko salam kehte aur aap humein salam ka jawab dete. Jab hum Shah Habsha (Najashi) se laut kar aaye to humne aap ko salam kiya lekin aap ne humein koi jawab na diya to humne kaha: Aye Allah ke Rasool! Pehle hum aap ko namaz mein salam kehte the to aap humein jawab dete the? Aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne farmaya: Namaz mein mashghooliyat (masrofiyat) hoti hai.
(b) Abu Burda Shajaa bin Walid ki hadees mein hai ke humne arz kiya: Aye Allah ke Rasool! Aap humein salam ka jawab dete the kya waja hai aaj aap ne salam ka jawab nahin diya? Rasool Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne farmaya: Namaz mein masrofiyat hoti hai.
Abdullah bin Masud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: I returned from (Abyssinia) to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) while he was offering prayer. I greeted him with Salam, but he did not respond. I thought about the old and new matters. When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) finished the prayer, I said, “O Messenger of Allah! Has there been any new order?" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “Allah reveals a new command to His Prophet whenever He wills. Now Allah's new command is that you should not talk during prayer."

(٣٣٤٥) عبداللہ بن مسعود (رض) بیان کرتے ہیں میں (حبشہ سے) رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوا آپ اس وقت نماز پڑھ رہے تھے۔ میں نے آپ کو سلام کہا لیکن آپ نے سلام کا جواب نہ دیا۔ مجھے نئی اور پرانی باتوں کی فکر لاحق ہوئی (جب رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے نماز مکمل کرلی) تو میں نے عرض کیا : اے اللہ کے رسول ! کوئی نیا حکم آگیا ہے کیا ؟ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : اللہ تعالیٰ اپنے نبی کے لیے جو چاہتا ہے نیا حکم نازل کردیتا ہے۔ اب اللہ کا نیا حکم یہ ہے کہ تم نماز میں باتیں نہ کیا کرو۔
(3345) Abdullah bin Masood (Razi Allah Anhu) bayan karte hain main (Habsha se) Rasool Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ki khidmat mein hazir hua aap us waqt namaz parh rahe the. Main ne aap ko salam kaha lekin aap ne salam ka jawab na diya. Mujhe nayi aur purani baton ki fikr lahaq hui (jab Rasool Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne namaz mukammal karli) to main ne arz kiya: Aye Allah ke Rasool! Koi naya hukm aagaya hai kya? Rasool Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne farmaya: Allah Ta'ala apne nabi ke liye jo chahta hai naya hukm nazil karta hai. Ab Allah ka naya hukm yeh hai ki tum namaz mein baatein na karo.
Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: We used to exchange greetings, talk, and discuss our needs during prayer. But one day, when I returned from Abyssinia, I went to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) while he was praying. I greeted him, but he did not respond. I was worried, thinking about what might be wrong. When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) finished his prayer, he said, "Allah Almighty reveals new commandments as He wills. And now, Allah's new commandment is that you should not talk during prayer."

(٣٣٤٦) حضرت عبداللہ بن مسعود (رض) بیان کرتے ہیں کہ ہم نماز میں سلام، کلام اور ایک دوسرے سے ضرورت کی باتیں کرلیا کرتے تھے لیکن جب میں (حبشہ سے واپسی پر) ایک دن نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوا، آپ اس وقت نماز پڑھ رہے تھے۔ میں نے آپ کو سلام کہا، لیکن آپ نے سلام کا جواب نہ دیا۔ مجھے نئی اور پرانی باتوں کی فکر لاحق ہوئی۔ جب رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے نماز مکمل کرلی تو فرمایا : اللہ تعالیٰ جو چاہتا ہے نیا حکم نازل فرما دیتا ہے۔ اب اللہ تعالیٰ کا نیا حکم یہ ہے کہ نماز میں باتیں نہ کیا کرو۔
Hazrat Abdullah bin Masood (RA) bayan karte hain ke hum namaz mein salaam, kalaam aur aik doosre se zaroorat ki baatein kar liya karte thay lekin jab main (Habsha se wapsi per) aik din Nabi (SAW) ki khidmat mein hazir hua, aap us waqt namaz parh rahe thay. Maine aap ko salaam kaha, lekin aap ne salaam ka jawab na diya. Mujhe nayi aur purani baaton ki fikr lahaq hui. Jab Rasool Allah (SAW) ne namaz mukammal kar li to farmaya: Allah Ta'ala jo chahta hai naya hukm nazil farma deta hai. Ab Allah Ta'ala ka naya hukm ye hai ke namaz mein baatein na kya karo.
Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) sent me on a personal errand. When I returned after completing the task, I greeted him with Salam, but he did not respond. He was offering prayer at that time.

(٣٣٤٧) جابر بن عبداللہ (رض) بیان کرتے ہیں کہ نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے مجھے اپنے کسی (ذاتی) کام کے لیے بھیجا تو میں کام پورا کر کے لوٹا۔ میں نے آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کو سلام کیا لیکن آپ نے جواب نہیں دیا۔ اس وقت آپ نماز پڑھ رہے تھے۔
3347 Jaber bin Abdullah (RA) bayan karte hain keh Nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne mujhe apne kisi (zati) kaam ke liye bheja to main kaam poora kar ke lota. Maine aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ko salam kiya lekin aap ne jawab nahi diya. Iss waqt aap namaz parh rahe the.
Narrated Jabir bin Abdullah (RA): That the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), (during the battle of Bani Al-Mustaliq) sent me (on an errand). I returned after finishing the job, approached him (ﷺ) and greeted him. He (ﷺ) did not reply. I wondered, Allah knows best what came to my mind, that perhaps the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) is angry due to my being late. Then I greeted him (ﷺ) but he (ﷺ) did not reply. Now I was more worried than before and greeted him (ﷺ) for the third time. He (ﷺ) replied and said, "Listen! I did not reply to your greeting because I was praying. And you (ﷺ) were riding the she-camel, its face was not towards the Qibla, rather it was in another direction."

(٣٣٤٨) حضرت جابر بن عبداللہ (رض) سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے (غزوہ بنی مصطلق میں) مجھے ایک کام کے لیے بھیجا۔ میں کام پورا کر کے لوٹا تو آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوا اور آپ کو سلام کیا۔ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے جواب نہ دیا۔ میرے دل میں اللہ جانے کیا بات آئی۔ میں نے اپنے دل میں کہا : شاید میں دیر سے آیا اس وجہ سے رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) ناراض ہیں۔ پھر میں نے آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کو سلام کیا، آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے جواب نہ دیا۔ اب میرے دل میں پہلے سے زیادہ خیال آیا، پھر میں نے تیسری مرتبہ سلام کیا تو آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے جواب دیا اور فرمایا : سنو ! میں نے اس لیے تمہارے سلام کا جواب نہ دیا کیونکہ میں نماز پڑھ رہا تھا اور آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) اونٹنی پر سوار تھے، اس کا منہ قبلہ کی طرف نہ تھا بلکہ دوسری طرف تھا۔
(3348) Hazrat Jabir bin Abdullah (RA) se riwayat hai ki Rasul Allah (SAW) ne (Ghazwa Bani Mustaliq mein) mujhe ek kaam ke liye bheja. Mein kaam poora kar ke lota to aap (SAW) ki khidmat mein hazir hua aur aap ko salam kiya. Aap (SAW) ne jawab na diya. Mere dil mein Allah jaane kya baat aayi. Mein ne apne dil mein kaha: shayad mein der se aaya is wajah se Rasul Allah (SAW) naraz hain. Phir mein ne aap (SAW) ko salam kiya, aap (SAW) ne jawab na diya. Ab mere dil mein pehle se ziada khayal aaya, phir mein ne teesri martaba salam kiya to aap (SAW) ne jawab diya aur farmaya: Suno! Mein ne is liye tumhare salam ka jawab na diya kyunki mein namaz parh raha tha aur aap (SAW) untni par sawar thay, is ka munh qibla ki taraf na tha balki dusri taraf tha.
Mu'awiya bin Hakam As-Sulami (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: "One day I was praying behind the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), when a man sneezed and I said, 'Yarhamukallah (may Allah have mercy on you).' The people stared at me, so I said, 'May your mothers lose you! Why are you staring at me?' They began to strike their thighs (a gesture for silence). When I saw that they were making me keep quiet, I fell silent. When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) finished the prayer, he said (calling me), 'May my parents be sacrificed for you! I have never seen anyone better than you in teaching, neither before you nor after you.' By Allah, he did not hit me, nor did he rebuke me, nor did he frown at me. He merely said, 'This is the prayer in which it is not befitting to speak. It is only for Tasbih (glorifying Allah), Takbir (saying Allahu Akbar) and the recitation of the Qur'an.'"

(٣٣٤٩) معاویہ بن حکم سلمی (رض) بیان کرتے ہیں کہ ایک دفعہ میں رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے ساتھ (باجماعت) نماز پڑھ رہا تھا کہ ایک آدمی نے چھینک ماری تو میں نے کہہ دیا : یرحمک اللہ۔ لوگ میری طرف گھورنے لگے۔ میں نے کہا : تمہاری مائیں تمہیں گم پائیں تم مجھے کیوں دیکھ رہے ہو ؟ تو انھوں نے اپنی رانوں پر ہاتھ مارنا شروع کردیے۔ پھر جب میں نے دیکھا کہ وہ مجھے خاموش کروا رہے ہیں تو میں خاموش ہوگیا۔ جب رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نماز سے فارغ ہوئے تو مجھے بلایا، آپ پر میرے ماں باپ قربان ہوں۔ میں نے اس سے پہلے اور نہ اس کے بعد رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) جیسا استاد نہیں دیکھا جو تعلیم دینے میں آپ سے بہتر ہو۔ اللہ کی قسم ! آپ نے مجھے مارا نہ ڈانٹا اور نہ ہی برا بھلا کہا ، بلکہ صرف اتنا فرمایا : یہ نماز ہے اس میں باتیں وغیرہ کرنا جائز نہیں اس میں تسبیح، تکبیر اور تلاوت قرآن ہوتی ہے۔
(3349) Muawiya bin Hakam Salmi (raz) bayan karte hain ki aik dafa main Rasul Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ke sath (ba jamaat) namaz parh raha tha ki aik aadmi ne chheenk maari to main ne keh diya: Yarhamuk Allah. Log meri taraf ghoorne lage. Main ne kaha: Tumhari maanain tumhen gum paain tum mujhe kyun dekh rahe ho? To unhon ne apni raanon per hath marna shuru kar diye. Phir jab main ne dekha ki woh mujhe khamosh karwa rahe hain to main khamosh ho gaya. Jab Rasul Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) namaz se farigh hue to mujhe bulaya, aap per mere maan baap qurbaan hon. Main ne is se pehle aur na hi is ke baad Rasul Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) jaisa ustaad nahin dekha jo taleem dene mein aap se behtar ho. Allah ki qasam! Aap ne mujhe mara na daanta aur na hi bura bhala kaha, balki sirf itna farmaya: Yeh namaz hai is mein baatain waghaira karna jaiz nahin is mein tasbeeh, takbeer aur tilawat Quran hoti hai.
Narrated Mu'awiya bin Hakam As-Sulami (RA): When I came to the Prophet (ﷺ), he taught me many things of Islam, saying: If you sneeze, say: 'Al-hamdu lillah (Praise be to Allah). And if anyone else sneezes, he should say: 'Al-hamdu lillah,' and you should say to him: 'Yarhamuk-Allah (May Allah have mercy on you).' Once while I was praying with the Prophet (ﷺ), a man sneezed and said: 'Al-hamdu lillah.' I said: 'Yarhamuk-Allah' in a loud voice, and the people stared at me so that I had to say to them: "What is the matter with you that you are looking at me like that?" They then said: "Subhan Allah!" When the Prophet (ﷺ) finished the prayer, he asked: "Who was the man who was speaking?" They said: "This villager." The Prophet (ﷺ) then called me and said: "Verily, in prayer there is nothing but Qur'an recitation and the remembrance of Allah, so if you are in prayer, do only that." I never saw a teacher more compassionate and lenient than the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ).

(٣٣٥٠) سیدنا معاویہ بن حکم سلمی (رض) سے روایت ہے کہ جب میں رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوا تو رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے مجھے اسلام کے بہت سے احکام سکھائے، یعنی جب تو چھینک مارے تو الحمد للہ کہہ اور جب کوئی اور چھینک مارے وہ الحمد للہ کہے اور تو یرحمک اللہ کہہ۔ ایک مرتبہ میں رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے ہمراہ نماز میں کھڑا تھا کہ اچانک ایک آدمی نے چھینک ماری، اس نے الحمد للہ کہا تو میں نے اونچی آواز میں یرحمک اللہ کہا، لوگ میری طرف گھورنے لگے حتیٰ کہ مجھے یہ کہنا پڑا کہ تمہیں کیا ہوا ہے، مجھے ایسی نظروں سے دیکھ رہے ہو ؟ تو انھوں نے سبحان اللہ کہا۔ جب نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے نماز مکمل کی تو پوچھا : کلام کرنے والا کون آدمی تھا ؟ آپ کو بتایا گیا کہ یہ دیہاتی تو آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے مجھے بلا کر فرمایا : نماز میں صرف تلاوت قرآن اور ذکر الٰہی ہوتا ہے، لہٰذا جب تم نماز میں ہو تو صرف تلاوت اور ذکر ہی کیا کرو۔ میں نے رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) سے بڑھ کر مشفق و مہربان معلم کسی اور کو نہیں دیکھا۔
3350 Saidna Muawiya bin Hakam Salmi (RA) se riwayat hai ki jab main Rasul Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ki khidmat mein hazir hua to Rasul Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne mujhe Islam ke bahut se ahkam sikhaye, yani jab tu chheenk maare to Alhamdulillah kah aur jab koi aur chheenk maare wo Alhamdulillah kahe aur tu Yarhamuk Allah kah. Ek martaba main Rasul Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ke hamrah namaz mein khara tha ki achanak ek aadmi ne chheenk maari, usne Alhamdulillah kaha to mainne oonchi aawaz mein Yarhamuk Allah kaha, log meri taraf ghoorne lage hatta ki mujhe ye kehna para ki tumhein kya hua hai, mujhe aisi nazron se dekh rahe ho? To unhon ne Subhan Allah kaha. Jab Nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne namaz mukammal ki to poocha: Kalam karne wala kaun aadmi tha? Aapko bataya gaya ki ye dehati to aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne mujhe bula kar farmaya: Namaz mein sirf tilawat Quran aur zikr Elahi hota hai, lihaza jab tum namaz mein ho to sirf tilawat aur zikr hi kiya karo. Mainne Rasul Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) se barh kar mushfiq o meharban mu'allim kisi aur ko nahin dekha.
