Chapter on One Who Made a Mistake and Did Not Remember Until He Completed Standing, Did Not Sit, and Prostrated for Forgetfulness
باب من سها فلم يذكر حتى استتم قائما لم يجلس وسجد للسهو
Sunan al-Kubra Bayhaqi 3846
(3846) (a) 'Amir (may Allah have mercy on him) reported: I offered prayer behind Nu'man b. Bashir (may Allah be pleased with him). He stood up straight after two rak'ahs. The people said: "Subhan Allah (Glory be to Allah)." He then sat down and when he was about to finish the prayer, he performed two prostrations of forgetfulness, and we also prostrated along with him.
(b) In our opinion he could not have stood up straight (after two rak'ahs). We have been related by Yahya b. Sa'id (may Allah have mercy on him) on the authority of Anas b. Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that Anas b. Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) intended to stand up after two rak'ahs in the 'Asr prayer, but the people said: "Subhan Allah" and he sat down. He then performed two prostrations of forgetfulness while sitting.

(٣٨٤٦) (ا) عامر (رح) بیان کرتے ہیں کہ میں نے نعمان بن بشیر (رض) کے پیچھے نماز پڑھی، وہ دو رکعتیں پڑھ کر سیدھے کھڑے ہوگئے۔ لوگوں نے سبحان اللہ کہا تو وہ بیٹھ گئے، پھر جب نماز سے فارغ ہونے لگے تو انھوں نے سہو کے دو سجدے کیے اور ہم نے بھی ان کے ساتھ سجدے کیے۔
(ب) ہمارے نزدیک یہ ہے کہ وہ سیدھے کھڑے نہیں ہوئے ہوں گے۔ ہمیں یحییٰ بن سعید (رح) سے سیدنا انس بن مالک (رض) کے واسطہ سے روایت بیان کی گئی ہے کہ حضرت انس بن مالک (رض) عصر کی نماز میں دو رکعتوں کے بعد کھڑے ہونے لگے تھے تو لوگ سبحان اللہ کہنے لگ گئے تو وہ بیٹھ گئے ، پھر (آخر میں) انھوں نے بیٹھے بیٹھے سہو کے دو سجدے کیے۔
(3846) (a) Aamir (rah) bayan karte hain ke maine Nauman bin Bashir (raz) ke peeche namaz parhi, woh do rakaton parh kar seedhe kharay hogaye. Logon ne Subhan Allah kaha to woh baith gaye, phir jab namaz se farigh hone lage to unhon ne sahu ke do sajde kiye aur hum ne bhi un ke saath sajde kiye.
(b) Humare nazdeek yeh hai ke woh seedhe kharay nahin huye honge. Hamein Yahya bin Saeed (rah) se Sayyidna Anas bin Malik (raz) ke waste se riwayat bayan ki gayi hai ke Hazrat Anas bin Malik (raz) Asr ki namaz mein do rakaton ke baad kharay hone lage the to log Subhan Allah kehne lag gaye to woh baith gaye, phir (aakhir mein) unhon ne baithe baithe sahu ke do sajde kiye.
Abdullah bin Buhaina (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) led us in a two-rak'ah prayer. Then he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) stood up without sitting (did not recite the tashahhud). The worshippers also stood up with him (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). When he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) finished the prayer, we were waiting for him to say the salam, but he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said the takbir and performed two prostrations while sitting before saying the salam.

(٣٨٤٧) حضرت عبداللہ بن بحینہ (رض) بیان فرماتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے ہمیں کسی نماز کی دو رکعتیں پڑھائیں، پھر آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) بیٹھے بغیر کھڑے ہوگئے (تشہد نہیں پڑھا) نمازی بھی آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے ساتھ ہی کھڑے ہوگئے۔ جب آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے نماز مکمل کرلی تو ہم سلام پھیرنے کا انتظار کر رہے تھے کہ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے تکبیر کہی اور سلام پھیرنے سے پہلے بیٹھے بیٹھے دو سجدے کیے پھر سلام پھیرا۔
3847 Hazrat Abdullah bin Buhaina (RA) bayan farmate hain ke Rasul Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne hamen kisi namaz ki do rakaat padhayi phir Aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) baithe baghair khare hogaye (tashahhud nahi parha) namazi bhi Aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ke sath hi khare hogaye. Jab Aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne namaz mukammal karli to hum salam phirne ka intezar kar rahe the ke Aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne takbeer kahi aur salam phirne se pehle baithe baithe do sajde kiye phir salam phira.
Abdullah bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forgot and stood up after two rak'ahs without sitting (for the first tashahhud), so he continued his prayer. When he was near the end of his prayer, before making the final salutation (tasleem), he performed two prostrations (sajdah) and then finished his prayer.

(٣٨٤٨) حضرت عبداللہ بن مالک (رض) بیان کرتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) بھول کر دو رکعتوں کے بعد قعدہ کیے بغیر کھڑے ہوگئے تو اپنی نماز جاری رکھی، جب اپنی نماز کے اختتام کے قریب تھے تو سلام پھیرنے سے پہلے دو سجدے کیے پھر سلام پھیرا۔
(3848) Hazrat Abdullah bin Malik (RA) bayan karte hain ke Rasool Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) bhool kar do rakaton ke baad qada kiye baghair khare hogaye to apni namaz jari rakhi, jab apni namaz ke ikhtitam ke qareeb the to salam phirne se pehle do sajde kiye phir salam phira.
(3849) (a) It is narrated on the authority of Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) that Mughirah bin Shubah (may Allah be pleased with him) led us in prayer and after two rak'ahs he stood up straight without sitting. The people said Subhan Allah, but he did not sit down. Then, when he turned for Salam, he performed two prostrations of forgetfulness. Then he said: I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) doing the same.
(b) The hadith of Sayyiduna Ibn Buhaina (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding the prostration before Salam is more authentic. And Allah knows best.

(٣٨٤٩) (ا) حضرت عامر (رح) سے روایت ہے کہ حضرت مغیرہ بن شعبہ (رض) نے ہمیں نماز پڑھائی تو دو رکعتوں کے بعد بیٹھے بغیر سیدھے کھڑے ہوگئے۔ لوگوں نے سبحان اللہ کہا، وہ نہ بیٹھے۔ پھر جب سلام پھیرا تو سہو کے دو سجدے کیے، پھر فرمایا : میں نے نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کو اسی طرح کرتے دیکھا ہے۔
(ب) سلام سے پہلے سجدہ کرنے کے بارے میں سیدنا ابن بحینہ (رح) کی حدیث اس سے زیادہ صحیح ہے۔ واللہ اعلم
(3849) (a) Hazrat Aamir (RA) se riwayat hai ki Hazrat Mugheera bin Shuba (RA) ne hamein namaz parhayi to do rakaton ke baad baithe baghair seedhe kharay hogaye. Logon ne Subhan Allah kaha, woh na baithe. Phir jab salam phera to sahu ke do sajde kiye, phir farmaya: Maine Nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ko isi tarah karte dekha hai.
(b) Salam se pehle sajdah karne ke baare mein Sayyidna Ibn Buhaina (RA) ki hadees is se zyada sahih hai. Wallahu a'lam.
(3850) (a) Qais bin Abu Hazim (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated: Saad bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) led us in prayer and stood up immediately after two rak'ahs. People started saying SubhanAllah (Glory be to Allah), but he continued his prayer. Then after finishing the prayer with salam, he said: I did the same as I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) doing.
(b) This narration has been reported by Yahya bin Yahya (may Allah have mercy on him) from Abu Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) with this addition that he ( Saad bin Abi Waqqas) performed two prostrations of forgetfulness while finishing the prayer with salam.

(٣٨٥٠) (ا) حضرت قیس بن ابوحازم (رح) بیان کرتے ہیں : ہمیں حضرت سعد بن ابو وقاص (رض) نے نماز پڑھائی تو وہ دو رکعتوں کے بعد فوراً سیدھے کھڑے ہوگئے۔ لوگ سبحان اللہ کہنے لگے، لیکن انھوں نے اپنی نماز جاری رکھی، پھر سلام پھیرنے کے بعد فرمایا : میں نے اسی طرح کیا ہے، جس طرح میں نے رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کو کرتے دیکھا ہے۔
(ب) یہ روایت حضرت یحییٰ بن یحییٰ (رح) نے حضرت ابو معاویہ (رض) سے نقل کی ہے اور اس میں یہ اضافہ کیا، انھوں نے نماز سے سلام پھیرتے وقت سہو کے دو سجدے کیے۔
(3850) (a) Hazrat Qais bin Abu Hazim (rah) bayan karte hain : humain Hazrat Saad bin Abu Waqas (rz) ne namaz parhayi to woh do rakaton ke baad foran seedhe kharay hogaye. Log subhan Allah kehne lage, lekin unhon ne apni namaz jari rakhi, phir salam phirne ke baad farmaya : main ne isi tarah kya hai, jis tarah main ne Rasul Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ko karte dekha hai.
(b) Yeh riwayat Hazrat Yahya bin Yahya (rah) ne Hazrat Abu Muawiya (rz) se naqal ki hai aur is mein yeh izafa kya, unhon ne namaz se salam phirte waqt sahu ke do sajday kiye.
'Abdul Rahman bin Shammaasah (RA) narrated: 'Uqbah bin 'Amr Al-Juhani (RA) led us in prayer. He intended to sit (in the second Rak'ah of Fajr) but (forgot and) stood up. The people said: "SubhanAllah (Glory be to Allah)! SubhanAllah (Glory be to Allah)!" But he did not sit down and remained standing. When he was at the end of the prayer, he performed two prostrations of forgetfulness while sitting. When he finished the prayer he said: "I heard you saying SubhanAllah a while ago so that I sit down, but the Sunnah (Prophet's way) is what I did."
This has been narrated from a large group of the Companions and what we have mentioned is sufficient. And with Allah lies all success.

(٣٨٥٢) حضرت عبدالرحمن بن شماسہ (رح) بیان کرتے ہیں : ہمیں حضرت عقبہ بن عامر جہنی (رض) نے نماز پڑھائی انھیں بیٹھنا تھا لیکن وہ کھڑے ہوگئے۔ لوگوں نے کہا : سبحان اللہ، سبحان اللہ ! تو وہ نہ بیٹھے اور کھڑے رہے۔ جب وہ نماز کے آخر میں تھے تو انھوں نے بیٹھے بیٹھے سہو کے دو سجدے کیے۔ جب سلام پھیرا تو فرمایا : میں نے تمہیں ابھی ابھی سبحان اللہ کہتے سنا ہے تاکہ میں بیٹھ جاؤں لیکن سنت طریقہ وہی ہے جو میں نے کیا۔
اس بارے میں صحابہ کی ایک کثیر تعداد سے روایت کیا گیا ہے اور جو ہم نے ذکر کردیا، یہی کافی ہے۔ وباللہ التوفیق
3852 Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Shamasa (rah) bayan karte hain : humain Hazrat Aqba bin Aamir Jahni (raz) ne namaz parhayi unhein baithna tha lekin woh kharay hogaye logon ne kaha : Subhan Allah Subhan Allah to woh na baithe aur kharay rahe jab woh namaz ke akhir mein the to unhon ne baithe baithe sahu ke do sajday kiye jab salam phera to farmaya : mein ne tumhein abhi abhi Subhan Allah kahte suna hai taake mein baith jaun lekin sunnat tareeqa wahi hai jo mein ne kiya
is baare mein Sahaba ki aik kaseer tadaad se riwayat kiya gaya hai aur jo hum ne zikar kiya yahi kaafi hai wa baillahi taufeeq
