Chapter on what Allah the Almighty commanded him to prefer the Hereafter over the worldly life, not letting his eyes look at the luxuries of this worldly life, saying: {And do not extend your eyes toward that by which We have given enjoyment to [some] cat
باب ما أمره الله تعالى به من اختيار الآخرة على الأولى، ولا يمد عينيه إلى زهرة الحياة الدنيا، فقال تعالى: ولا تمدن عينيك إلى ما متعنا به أزواجا منهم زهرة الحياة الدنيا لنفتنهم فيه ورزق ربك خير وأبقى
Sunan al-Kubra Bayhaqi 13305
Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: "I entered upon the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and he was reclining on a mat. He had a sheet over him, and there was nothing else. The marks of the mat were imprinted on his side. I looked around and saw some barley, approximately a Sa' (a unit of measurement), and a similar amount of dates, in his cupboard. A piece of tanned leather was hanging in a corner of the room. My eyes welled up. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked, 'O son of Khattab! What has made you cry?' I said, 'O Messenger of Allah! Why shouldn't I cry? These marks of the mat, and I see nothing in your cupboard (it's almost empty). Caesar and Chosroes enjoy fruits and rivers, while you, the Messenger of Allah, live in such simplicity.' He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, 'O son of Khattab! Are you not content that all these things will be for us in the Hereafter, and for them in this world?' I said, 'Why not!'"

(١٣٣٠٥) حضرت عمر بن خطاب (رض) فرماتے ہیں کہ میں نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) پر داخل ہوا، آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) ایک چٹائی پر لیٹے ہوئے تھے اور آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے اوپر آپ کی چادر تھی اس کے علاوہ اور کچھ بھی نہ تھا اور چٹائی کے نشانات آپ کے پہلو پر پڑگئے تھے۔ میں نے نگاہ دوڑائی تو آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کی الماری میں چند جو تھے جو تقریباً ایک صاع تھے اور اس کے برابر سلم کے تھے ایک کمرے کے کونے میں پڑے ہوئے تھے اور کچا چمڑا بھی لٹکا ہوا تھا۔
میری آنکھیں بہہ پڑیں، آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے پوچھا : اے ابن خطاب ! تمہیں کس چیز نے رونے پر مجبور کیا ہے ؟ میں نے عرض کیا : اے اللہ کے نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) ! میں کیوں نہ روؤں، یہ چٹائی کے نشانات اور میں نے آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کی الماری میں کچھ نہیں دیکھا (وہ بھی خالی ہے) قیصر و کسریٰ پھلوں اور نہروں میں ہوں اور آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) اللہ کے رسول ہو کر بھی اتنی سادگی میں۔ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : اے ابن خطاب ! کیا تو اس بات سے راضی نہیں ہے کہ یہ سب چیزیں ہمارے لیے آخرت میں ہوں اور ان کے لیے دنیا میں۔ میں نے کہا : کیوں نہیں۔
(13305) Hazrat Umar bin Khattab (RA) farmate hain keh mein Nabi (SAW) par dakhil hua, aap (SAW) aik chatai par lete hue thay aur aap (SAW) ke upar aap ki chadar thi is ke ilawa aur kuchh bhi nahi tha aur chatai ke nishanat aap ke pehlu par par gaye thay. Mein ne nigah doraee to aap (SAW) ki almari mein chand jo thay jo taqreeban aik saa thay aur is ke barabar salm ke thay aik kamre ke kone mein pare hue thay aur kacha chamra bhi latka hua tha.
Meri aankhein beh parin, aap (SAW) ne poocha: Aye Ibn Khattab! Tumhein kis cheez ne rone par majboor kiya hai? Mein ne arz kiya: Aye Allah ke Nabi (SAW)! Mein kyun na rahoon, yeh chatai ke nishanat aur mein ne aap (SAW) ki almari mein kuchh nahi dekha (woh bhi khali hai) Qaisar o Kasra phalon aur nahrron mein hon aur aap (SAW) Allah ke Rasool ho kar bhi itni saادگی mein. Aap (SAW) ne farmaya: Aye Ibn Khattab! Kya tum is baat se razi nahi hai keh yeh sab cheezain humare liye aakhirat mein hon aur un ke liye duniya mein. Mein ne kaha: Kyun nahi.
Narrated Abu Huraira (RA): The Prophet (SAW) said: If Uhud (mountain) were to be turned into gold for me, it would not please me to have anything of it with me for more than three nights, except that which I might keep for paying a debt.

(١٣٣٠٦) حضرت ابوہریرہ (رض) سے روایت ہے کہ نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : اگر احد پہاڑ میرے لیے سونا بنادیا جائے یہ بات مجھے اچھی نہیں لگے گی اس بات سے کہ میرے پاس کوئی چیز ہو اور میں اس کو تین راتوں سے پہلے پہلے خرچ کر دوں۔ سوائے اس کے جو قرض دینے کے لیے رکھ چھوڑوں۔
Hazrat Abu Huraira (RA) se riwayat hai ki Nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne farmaya: Agar Uhud pahar mere liye sona bana diya jaye yeh baat mujhe achhi nahin lagegi is baat se ke mere paas koi cheez ho aur main usko teen raaton se pehle pehle kharch kar doon. Siwaye iske jo qarz dene ke liye rakh chhorun.
Narrated Abu Huraira (RA): The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "O Allah! Grant the family of Muhammad (peace be upon him) enough provision so that they can keep their backs straight."

(١٣٣٠٧) حضرت ابوہریرہ (رض) سے روایت ہے کہ نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : اے اللہ ! آل محمد (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کو اتنا رزق عطا کر جس سے وہ اپنی کمر سیدھی رکھ سکیں۔
(13307) Hazrat Abu Huraira (RA) se riwayat hai ki Nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne farmaya: Aye Allah! Aal e Muhammad ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ko itna rizq ata kar jisse woh apni kamar seedhi rakh saken.
Abu Hazim narrates, "I saw Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) repeatedly gesturing with his fingers and swearing by the One in Whose Hands his soul was, 'The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him and his family) and his family never ate their fill of barley bread for more than three consecutive days until they departed from this world.'"

(١٣٣٠٨) ابو حازم فرماتے ہیں کہ میں نے ابوہریرہ (رض) کو دیکھا کہ اپنی انگلیوں سے بار بار اشارہ کر رہے تھے کہ اس ذات کی قسم جس کے ہاتھ میں میری جان ہے، نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) اور آپ کے اہل و عیال نے تین دن سے زیادہ جَو کی روٹی کبھی بھی سیر ہو کر نہیں کھائی۔ یہاں تک کہ دنیا سے چلے گئے۔
(13308) Abu Hazim farmate hain ke maine Abu Huraira (RA) ko dekha ke apni ungliyon se baar baar ishara kar rahe the ke is zaat ki qasam jis ke hath mein meri jaan hai, Nabi (SAW) aur aap ke ahl o ayaal ne teen din se ziada jau ki roti kabhi bhi ser ho kar nahin khai. Yahan tak ke duniya se chale gaye.
Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated that Allah's Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) never ate his fill for three consecutive days until he passed away.

(١٣٣٠٩) حضرت عائشہ (رض) فرماتی ہیں کہ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے کبھی مسلسل تین دن تک پیٹ بھر کر کھانا نہیں کھایا حتیٰ کہ اپنے راستے کو ہو لیے (فوت ہوگئے) ۔
Hazrat Ayesha (Raz) farmati hain ke Rasul Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne kabhi musalsal teen din tak pet bhar kar khana nahi khaya hatta ke apne raste ko ho liye (fout hogaye).
Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: "Many months would pass over the family of Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and no fire would be lit in their stove except for dates and water. Around us were the houses of the Ansar, and the people of the Ansar would send a milch sheep towards the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), so he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would benefit from its milk."

(١٣٣١٢) حضرت عائشہ (رض) فرماتی ہیں کہ آل محمد (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) پر کئی کئی مہینے گزر جاتے لیکن آپ کے چولہے میں آگ نہ جلتی علاوہ کھجوروں اور پانی کے۔ ہمارے اردگرد انصار کے گھر تھے تو انصار کے لوگ دودھ والی بکری نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کی طرف بھیجتے تھے تو آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) اس سے دودھ حاصل کرتے تھے۔
(13312) Hazrat Ayesha (RA) farmati hain keh Aal Muhammad (SAW) par kai kai mahinay guzar jatay lekin aap ke choolhay mein aag nah jalti alawah khajuron aur pani ke. Humare ird gird Ansar ke ghar thay to Ansar ke log doodh wali bakri Nabi (SAW) ki taraf bhejte thay to aap (SAW) is se doodh hasil karte thay.
Qatadah reported: We went to Anas bin Malik while the bread maker was preparing bread. Anas said, “Eat. I never saw the Prophet (ﷺ) eat a thin baked bread, nor meat from a roasted goat, till he met his Lord.”

(١٣٣١٣) قتادہ فرماتے ہیں کہ ہم انس بن مالک (رض) کے پاس آتے اور روٹیاں پکانے والا کھڑا ہوجاتا، انس فرماتے : کھاؤ میں نہیں جانتا کہ نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کو کسی نے کبھی چپاتی کھاتے ہوئے دیکھا ہو حتیٰ کہ اللہ تعالیٰ سے جا ملے اور نہ ہی کسی نے بھنی ہوئی بکری کھاتے دیکھا۔
Qatadah farmate hain ki hum Anas bin Malik (RA) ke pass aate aur rotiyan pakane wala khara hojata, Anas farmate: khao main nahin janta ki Nabi (SAW) ko kabhi kisi ne chapatti khate huye dekha ho hatta ki Allah Ta'ala se ja mile aur na hi kisi ne bhuni hui bakri khate dekha.
Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) never ate food on a table cloth, nor did he ever eat fine, white bread. He was asked: O Abu Hamza! On what did you (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) eat? He said: On a mat.

(١٣٣١٤) انس بن مالک (رض) فرماتے ہیں کہ نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے دستر خوان پر کبھی بھی کھانا نہیں کھایا اور نہ ہی میدے کی روٹی کھائی ہے۔ پوچھا گیا : اے ابو حمزہ ! کس چیز پر آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کھاتے تھے تو انھوں نے کہا : چٹائی پر۔
(13314) Anas bin Malik (RA) farmate hain ke Nabi (SAW) ne dastarkhwan par kabhi bhi khana nahi khaya aur na hi maide ki roti khai hai. Poocha gaya: Aye Abu Hamza! Kis cheez par aap (SAW) khate thy to unhon ne kaha: Chatai par.
Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that we would take out the meat of a goat's shank after fifteen days and we would eat it. The narrator says: I said why did you do that? She laughed and said: The family of Muhammad (peace be upon him) never ate their fill of barley bread for three consecutive days.

(١٣٣١٥) حضرت عائشہ (رض) فرماتی ہیں کہ ہم بکری کی پنڈلی کا گوشت پندرہ دن بعد نکالتے تھے ہم اس کو کھاتیں تھیں، راوی کہتا ہے : میں نے کہا آپ ایسا کیوں کرتے تھے ؟ تو وہ ہنس پڑیں اور فرمایا : آل محمد نے کبھی تین دن پیٹ بھر کر جَو کی روٹی نہیں کھائی۔
Hazrat Ayesha (RA) farmati hain ke hum bakri ki pindli ka gosht pandrah din baad nikalte thay hum is ko khate thi, ravi kehta hai : maine kaha aap aisa kyon karte thay ? to woh hans padin aur farmaya : Aal e Muhammad ne kabhi teen din pet bhar kar jau ki roti nahin khai.
Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) reported: When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) passed away, there was nothing in my house which a living being could eat except for half a wasq (a unit of measurement) of barley which was kept in a niche. I ate from it, and many days passed. Then I began to measure it out, and it finished quickly.

(١٣٣١٦) حضرت عائشہ (رض) فرماتی ہیں کہ جب نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) فوت ہوئے تو میرے گھر میں آدھے وسق جَو کے سوا جو ایک طاق میں رکھے ہوئے تھے اور کوئی چیز نہ تھی جو کسی جان دار کی خوراک بن سکتی، میں اس سے کھاتی رہی اور بہت دن گزر گئے۔ پھر میں نے اس سے ناپ کر نکالنا شروع کیا تو وہ جلدی ختم ہوگئے۔
Hazrat Ayesha (Raz) farmati hain keh jab Nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) فوت hue to mere ghar mein aadhe wasq jao ke siwa jo aik taq mein rakhe hue the aur koi cheez na thi jo kisi jan dar ki khuraak ban sakti, mein us se khati rahi aur bohat din guzar gaye. Phir mein ne us se naap kar nikalna shuru kiya to woh jald hi khatam ho gaye.
Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated that the Prophet's (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) bed was of leather, stuffed with fibers of the date palm.

(١٣٣١٧) حضرت عائشہ (رض) فرماتی ہیں کہ نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کا بستر (گدا) چمڑے کا اور اس کو کھجور کے پتوں سے بھرا گیا تھا۔
(13317) Hazrat Aisha (RA) farmati hain keh Nabi (SAW) ka bistar (gada) chamrray ka aur is ko khajoor ke patton se bhara gaya tha.
Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "I have been helped by awe (in the hearts of enemies) and I have been given comprehensive words (of eloquence and wisdom). And I was sleeping and the keys of the treasures of the earth were brought to me and placed in my hand."

(١٣٣١٨) ابوہریرہ (رض) فرماتے ہیں کہ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : رعب کے ساتھ میری مدد کی گئی ہے اور میں جامع کلمات دیا گیا ہوں۔ ایک دفعہ میں سویا ہوا تھا کہ زمین کے خزانوں کی چابیاں میرے ہاتھ پر لا کر رکھ دی گئیں۔
(13318) Abu Huraira (RA) farmate hain ke aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne farmaya: raab ke sath meri madad ki gai hai aur main jami kalimat diya gaya hun. Ek dafa main soya hua tha ke zameen ke khazanon ki chabiyan mere hath par la kar rakh di gain.
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "I have been helped with fear (stricken in the hearts of the enemies), and I have been given the treasures, and I have been given the choice to remain alive and see what will happen to my Ummah, and I have also been given the choice of haste, but I preferred haste."

(١٣٣١٩) نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : رعب کے ساتھ میری مدد کی گئی ہے اور مجھے خزانے دیے گئے ہیں اور مجھے اختیار دیا گیا ہے کہ میں زندہ رہوں اور میں دیکھوں جو میری امت پر کھولا جائے گا اور جلدی کا بھی اختیار دیا گیا، لیکن میں نے جلدی کو پسند کیا۔
(13319) Nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne farmaya : raab ke sath meri madad ki gai hai aur mujhe khazanay diye gaye hain aur mujhe ikhtiyar diya gaya hai ke main zinda rahun aur main dekhun jo meri ummat par khola jaye ga aur jaldi ka bhi ikhtiyar diya gaya, lekin maine jaldi ko pasand kiya.
Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that Gabriel (peace be upon him) came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and gave him the choice between this world and the Hereafter, so the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) chose the Hereafter and did not desire this world.

(١٣٣٢٠) ابن عمر (رض) فرماتے ہیں کہ جبرائیل (علیہ السلام) آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے پاس آئے اور آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کو دنیا اور آخرت میں اختیار دیا تو آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے آخرت کو پسند کیا اور دنیا کا ارادہ نہیں کیا۔
13320 ibn umar (rz) farmate hain keh jibrail (alaihis salam) aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ke pass aye aur aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ko duniya aur akhirat mein ikhtiyar diya to aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne akhirat ko pasand kiya aur duniya ka irada nahin kiya.
Taus narrated from his father that an angel, whom you [Prophet Muhammad ﷺ] did not know, was sent to the Prophet ﷺ. He said: "Do you wish to be a Prophet who is a slave or a Prophet who is a Messenger?" Gabriel (peace be upon him) gestured that you should choose humility. You ﷺ said: "I wish to be a Prophet who is a slave."

(١٣٣٢١) طاؤس اپنے والد سے نقل فرماتے ہیں کہ نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کی طرف ایک فرشتہ بھیجا گیا، جس کو آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) جانتے نہیں تھے، اس نے کہا : آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نبی بندے بننا چاہتے ہیں یا نبی رسول تو جبرائیل (علیہ السلام) نے اشارہ کیا کہ آپ تواضع اختیار کریں۔ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : میں نبی بندہ بننا چاہتا ہوں۔
Taus apne walid se naql farmate hain ke Nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ki taraf ek farishta bheja gaya, jis ko aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) jante nahin the, usne kaha : aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) nabi banda banna chahte hain ya nabi rasool to Jibraeel (alaihis salam) ne ishara kiya ke aap tawazu ikhtiyar karen. Aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne farmaya : main nabi banda banna chahta hun.
