Chapter: Merits of one who dies in the path of Allah

Sunan al-Kubra Bayhaqi 18534
Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) went to Umm Haram bint Milhan to eat. Umm Haram was married to Ubadah bin Samit. One day, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came to her, and after she served him food, she sat down to delouse his head. When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) woke up from sleep, he was smiling. Umm Haram said: "I asked, 'O Messenger of Allah, what made you smile?' He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, 'Some people from my Ummah were presented before me (in a dream) who were fighting in the way of Allah. They were sailing on the sea like kings on thrones.'" The narrator says that Umm Haram said: "O Messenger of Allah, pray that Allah makes me one of them." He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) prayed for her. Then he slept again and woke up smiling. She said: "What made you smile?" He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) replied: "My Ummah was presented before me fighting in the way of Allah, like the first time." She again requested the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) to pray that she be included among them. He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "You are among the first ones." During the reign of Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him), Umm Haram traveled by sea and died as a result of falling from a mount after disembarking.

(١٨٥٣٤) حضرت انس بن مالک (رض) فرماتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) ام حرام بنت ملحان کے پاس کھانے کے لیے تشریف لائے اور ام حرام عبادہ بن صامت کے نکاح میں تھیں۔ ایک دن آپ اس کے پاس آئے تو وہ کھانا کھلانے کے بعد سر سے جوئیں نکالنے بیٹھ گئی۔ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) سونے کے بعد بیدار ہوئے تو مسکرا رہے تھے۔ کہتی ہیں : میں نے کہا : آپ کو کس بات نے ہنسادیا ؟ اے اللہ کے رسول (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) ! آپ نے فرمایا : میری امت کے لوگ اللہ کے راستہ میں جہاد کرتے ہوئے میرے سامنے پیش کیے گئے۔ وہ سمندر کے درمیان سواری کرتے ہیں، جیسے بادشاہ تختوں پر۔ راوی کہتے ہیں کہ ام حرام نے کہا : اے اللہ کے رسول (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) ! دعا کردیں کہ میں بھی ان میں سے ہوجاؤں آپ نے دعا کردی۔ پھر آپ سونے کے بعد بیدار ہوئے تو مسکرا رہے تھے۔ فرماتی ہیں : میں نے کہا : آپ کو کسی چیز نے ہنسادیا ؟ فرمایا : میری امت کے لوگ غزوہ کرتے ہوئے میرے سامنے پیش کیے گئے جیسے پہلی مرتبہ تھے۔ انھوں نے دوبارہ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) سے دعا کی درخواست کردی کہ اسے ان میں شمار کیا جائے۔ آپ نے فرمایا : تو پہلے لوگوں میں سے ہے۔ معاویہ (رض) کے دور میں ام حرام نے سمندر کا سفر کیا جب سمندر سے نکلی تو چوپائے کی سواری سے گرنے کی وجہ سے وفات پا گئیں۔
(18534) Hazrat Anas bin Malik (RA) farmate hain keh Rasool Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) Umm Haram bint Milhan ke paas khane ke liye tashreef laye aur Umm Haram Ubadah bin Samit ke nikah mein thin. Ek din aap uske paas aye to woh khana khilane ke baad sar se jooein nikalne baith gayi. Rasool Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) sone ke baad bedar huye to muskura rahe the. Kehti hain : maine kaha : aap ko kis baat ne hansadiya ? Aye Allah ke Rasool ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ! Aap ne farmaya : meri ummat ke log Allah ke raaste mein jihad karte huye mere samne pesh kiye gaye. Woh samandar ke darmiyaan sawari karte hain, jaise badshah takhton par. Rawi kehte hain keh Umm Haram ne kaha : aye Allah ke Rasool ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ! Dua karein keh main bhi un mein se hojaon aap ne dua kardi. Phir aap sone ke baad bedar huye to muskura rahe the. Farmati hain : maine kaha : aap ko kisi cheez ne hansadiya ? Farmaya : meri ummat ke log ghazwa karte huye mere samne pesh kiye gaye jaise pehli martaba the. Unhon ne dobara Rasool Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) se dua ki darkhwast kardi keh use un mein shumar kiya jaye. Aap ne farmaya : to pehle logon mein se hai. Muawiya (RA) ke daur mein Umm Haram ne samandar ka safar kiya jab samandar se nikli to chopaye ki sawari se girne ki wajah se wafaat pa gayin.
Umm Haram bint Milhan reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was once at the house of Anas, may Allah be pleased with him, and he woke up smiling. I asked, "What made you smile?" He said, "My nation was shown to me riding upon the sea like kings upon thrones." I said, "Pray to Allah to include me among them." He prayed and then lay back down. He woke up again saying the same thing, and I repeated my request. He said, "You are among the first ones." Ubadah ibn Samit married her and took her on a naval expedition. When they were about to return, she fell from her mount and broke her neck, which was the cause of her death.

(١٨٥٣٥) ام حرام بنت ملحان فرماتی ہیں کہ نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) ایک دن انس (رض) کے گھر تشریف فرما تھے تو بیدار ہونے کے بعد مسکرا رہے تھے۔ میں نے پوچھا : آپ کو کسی چیز نے مسکرادیا ہے ؟ فرمایا : میری امت کے لوگ سمندر پر سواری کرتے ہوئے میرے سامنے پیش کیے گئے جیسے بادشاہ تختوں پر بیٹھے ہوئے ہیں۔ میں نے کہا : دعا کریں اللہ مجھے بھی ان میں شامل کرلے۔ آپ دعا کرکے دوبارہ لیٹ گئے۔ پھر بیدار ہونے کے بعد اس طرح ہی کہا، میں نے دوبارہ دعا کی درخواست کی تو آپ نے فرمایا : تو پہلے لوگوں میں سے ہے تو عبادہ بن صامت نے ان سے نکاح کیا اور سمندری سفر میں لے گئے۔ جب واپس آنے لگے تو خچر سے گرنے کی وجہ کی سے گردن ٹوٹ گئی، یہ ان کی ہلاکت کا سبب بنا۔
(18535) Umme Haram bint Milhan farmati hain ke Nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) aik din Anas (RA) ke ghar tashreef farma thay to bedar honay ke baad muskura rahay thay. Maine poocha: Aap ko kisi cheez ne muskura diya hai? Farmaya: Meri ummat ke log samandar par sawari karte hue mere samne pesh kiye gaye jaise badshah takhton par baithe hue. Maine kaha: Dua karen Allah mujhe bhi un mein shamil kar le. Aap dua karke dobara lait gaye. Phir bedar honay ke baad is tarah hi kaha, maine dobara dua ki darkhwast ki to aap ne farmaya: To pehle logon mein se hai. To Ubadah bin Samit ne un se nikah kiya aur samandri safar mein le gaye. Jab wapas aanay lage to khachar se girne ki wajah ki se gardan toot gayi, yeh un ki halakat ka sabab bana.
Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Utik of Banu Salima narrated from his father that he heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) saying, “Whoever leaves his home with the intention of Jihad in the way of Allah…” The narrator said, “Then he (ﷺ) joined his three fingers and said: Where are those who strive in the cause of Allah? Whoever falls from his mount and dies, then his affair is with Allah. And if he dies from the sting of something, then he will receive a complete reward. And whoever dies a natural death…” The narrator said, “I had not heard this phrase from any Arab before the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), meaning whoever dies in his bed, his reward is also with Allah. And whoever is killed on the spot, then he has guaranteed Paradise for himself."

(١٨٥٣٦) بنو سلمہ کے محمد بن عبداللہ بن عتیک اپنے والد سے نقل فرماتے ہیں کہ میں نے رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کو یہ فرماتے ہوئے سنا کہ جو جہاد فی سبیل اللہ کی نیت گھر سے نکلا۔ راوی کہتے ہیں : پھر آپ نے اپنی تین انگلیاں ملائیں اور فرمایا : اللہ کے راستہ میں جہاد کرنے والے کہاں ہیں ؟ جو شخص اللہ کے راستہ میں اپنی سواری سے گر کر فوت ہوجائے تو اس کا معاملہ اللہ کے ذمہ ہے اور اگر کسی چیز کے ڈسنے کی وجہ سے فوت ہوجائے تو اس کو مکمل اجر ملے گا اور جو انسان اپنی طبعی موت فوت ہوگیا۔ راوی کہتے ہیں : یہ کلمہ میں نے رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) سے پہلے کسی عرب سے نہ سنا تھا، یعنی جو اپنے بستر پر فوت ہوگیا اس کا اجر بھی اللہ کے ذمہ ہے اور جو انسان موقع پر ہی قتل کردیا گیا اس نے جنت کو واجب کرلیا۔
(18536) Banu Salma ke Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Ateeq apne walid se naql farmate hain ki maine Rasulullah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ko ye farmate huye suna ki jo jihad fi sabeelillah ki niyat ghar se nikla. Rawi kehte hain : phir aap ne apni teen ungliyan milayen aur farmaya : Allah ke raaste mein jihad karne wale kahan hain ? Jo shakhs Allah ke raaste mein apni sawari se gir kar faut ho jaye to uska mamla Allah ke zimma hai aur agar kisi cheez ke dasne ki wajah se faut ho jaye to usko mukammal ajr milega aur jo insan apni tabai maut faut hogaya. Rawi kehte hain : ye kalma maine Rasulullah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) se pehle kisi Arab se na suna tha, yani jo apne bistar par faut hogaya uska ajr bhi Allah ke zimma hai aur jo insan mauqe par hi qatal kar diya gaya usne jannat ko wajib kar liya.
Abu Malik Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that he heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saying, “Whoever goes out in the cause of Allah seeking Allah’s pleasure, the confirmation of His promise, and belief in His Messengers, then Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, guarantees that He will admit him to Paradise, no matter how he dies in the army. He will remain under the guarantee of Allah, even if he remains absent for a long time. Then Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, will return him to his home safe and sound, with reward, spoils of war, and wealth.” The narrator said, “Whoever dies in the cause of Allah, whether he is martyred, or his horse or camel falls on him, or he is stung by a venomous creature, or dies in his bed, he is a martyr and Paradise is for him.”

(١٨٥٣٧) ابومالک اشعری (رض) فرماتے ہیں کہ میں نے رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) سے سنا، آپ فرماتے ہیں : جو شخص اللہ کے راستے میں جہاد کے لیے نکلتا ہے اللہ کی رضا مندی کی تلاش، اس کے وعدے کی تصدیق اور اس کے رسولوں پر ایمان لانے کی وجہ سے تو اللہ رب العزت اس بندے کا ضامن ہے کہ اللہ اس کو لشکر میں جس طرح بھی موت دے۔ اس کو جنت میں داخل کرلے گا۔ وہ اللہ کی ضمانت میں ہی رہے گا۔ اگرچہ وہ زیادہ دیر غائب رہے۔ پھر اللہ رب العزت اس کو اس کے گھر صحیح سلامت اور اجر وثواب اور مال غنیمت کے ساتھ واپس کرے گا۔ راوی کہتے ہیں : جو اللہ کے راستہ میں فوت ہوجائے یا شہید ہوجائے یا اس کا گھوڑا یا اونٹ گرادے یا کوئی زیریلی چیز ڈس لے یا اپنے بستر پر ہی فوت ہوجائے یہ شہید ہے اور اس کے لیے جنت ہے۔
(18537) abomalik ashari (raz) farmate hain keh maine rasool allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) se suna, aap farmate hain : jo shakhs allah ke raste mein jihad ke liye nikalta hai allah ki raza mandi ki talaash, uske waade ki tasdeeq aur uske rasulon per imaan laane ki wajah se to allah rabb ul izzat us bande ka zaamin hai keh allah us ko lashkar mein jis tarah bhi maut de. us ko jannat mein dakhil karle ga. woh allah ki zamanat mein hi rahe ga. agar chahe woh zyada dair ghaib rahe. phir allah rabb ul izzat us ko us ke ghar sahih salamat aur ajr o sawab aur maal ghanimat ke sath wapas kare ga. ravi kehte hain : jo allah ke raste mein foot ho jaye ya shaheed ho jaye ya us ka ghora ya oont girade ya koi zehreli cheez das le ya apne bistar per hi foot ho jaye yeh shaheed hai aur us ke liye jannat hai.
Abu Umamah Al-Bahili reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: "There are three persons whose affairs Allah has taken upon Himself (to look after them): A man who goes out for Jihad in Allah's Cause, Allah guarantees that He will admit him to Paradise (if martyred) or He will return him to his home safely with reward or booty; a man who goes out to the mosque, Allah takes the responsibility to admit him to Paradise (if he dies on the way) or return him safely with reward; and a man who enters his house with greeting (Salaam), Allah guarantees his safety."

(١٨٥٣٨) ابوامامہ باہلی رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) سے نقل فرماتے ہیں کہ تین شخصوں کا اللہ ضامن ہے : ایسا شخص جو جہاد کے لیے نکلتا ہے تو اللہ اس کی ضمانت دیتے ہیں کہ اسے فوت کرکے جنت میں داخل کرلے یا ایسے شخص کو ثواب یا مال غنیمت کے ساتھ واپس کریں اور ایسا شخص جو مسجد جاتا ہے تو اللہ کے ذمے ہے کہ موت کے بعد اس کو جنت میں داخل کرے یا ثواب یا مال غنیمت دے کر واپس کرے۔ اور وہ آدمی جو اپنے گھر میں سلام کہہ کر داخل ہوتا ہے۔ اس کا بھی اللہ ضامن ہے۔
18538 Abuamama Baahili Rasool Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) se naqal farmate hain ke teen shakhson ka Allah zaamin hai: Aisa shakhs jo jihad ke liye nikalta hai to Allah uski zamanat dete hain ke use foot karke jannat mein dakhil karle ya aise shakhs ko sawab ya maal ghanimat ke sath wapas karen aur aisa shakhs jo masjid jata hai to Allah ke zimme hai ke moot ke baad us ko jannat mein dakhil kare ya sawab ya maal ghanimat de kar wapas kare. Aur wo aadmi jo apne ghar mein salaam keh kar dakhil hota hai. Us ka bhi Allah zaamin hai.
Hazrat Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that he passed by Muadh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him). He was sitting in front of the door of his house, gesturing with his hands as if he was talking to someone. So Abdullah said: "O Abu Abdur Rahman! Are you talking to yourself?" He said, "The enemies of Allah wanted to make me heedless of this statement that I heard from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). I heard from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that whoever goes out in the way of Allah, Allah is his guardian. And whoever does not speak ill of anyone in his house, meaning he does not backbite, Allah is his guardian. And whoever takes care of the sick and goes to the mosque in the morning or evening, Allah is his guardian too. And whoever helps the Imam, Allah is his guardian too. The enemy of Allah intended to expel me from my house to the gathering."

(١٨٥٣٩) حضرت عبداللہ بن عمرو (رض) فرماتے ہیں کہ وہ معاذ بن جبل (رض) کے پاس سے گزرے۔ وہ اپنے گھر کے دروازے کے سامنے بیٹھے ہاتھوں سے اشارے کر رہے تھے۔ گویا آپ سے باتیں کر رہے ہیں تو عبداللہ نے کہا : اے ابو عبدالرحمن ! اپنے نفس سے باتیں کررہے ہو۔ اس نے کہا کہ اللہ کے دشمن مجھے اس کلام سے غافل کردینا چاہتے ہیں جو میں نے رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) سے سنی ہے۔ میں نے رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) سے سنا جو اللہ کے راستہ میں جہاد کے لیے نکلتا ہے، اللہ اس کا ضامن ہے اور جو انسان اپنے گھر میں کسی کی برائی بیان نہیں کرتا، یعنی چغلی نہیں کرتا اللہ اس کا بھی ضامن ہے اور جو بیمار کی تیمارداری کرلے صبح یا شام مسجد کی طرف جائے ان کا بھی اللہ ضامن ہے اور جو شخص امام کی مدد کرتا ہے، اللہ اس کا بھی ضامن ہے۔ اللہ کے دشمن کا ارادہ تھا کہ مجھے میرے گھر سے مجلس کی طرف نکال دیں۔
(18539) Hazrat Abdullah bin Amro (RA) farmate hain ke woh Moaz bin Jabal (RA) ke pass se guzre. Woh apne ghar ke darwaze ke samne baithe hathon se ishare kar rahe the. Goya aap se baaten kar rahe hain to Abdullah ne kaha : Aye Abu Abdurrahman ! Apne nafs se baaten kar rahe ho. Usne kaha ke Allah ke dushman mujhe is kalaam se ghafil kar dena chahte hain jo maine Rasulullah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) se suna hai. Maine Rasulullah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) se suna jo Allah ke raaste mein jihad ke liye nikalta hai, Allah us ka zaamin hai aur jo insan apne ghar mein kisi ki burai bayan nahin karta, yani chugli nahin karta Allah us ka bhi zaamin hai aur jo bimar ki timaardari karle subah ya sham masjid ki taraf jaye un ka bhi Allah zaamin hai aur jo shakhs Imam ki madad karta hai, Allah us ka bhi zaamin hai. Allah ke dushman ka irada tha ke mujhe mere ghar se majlis ki taraf nikal den.
