Chapter: Slaughtering with draining blood, opening the breast, and sacrificing without breaking the hooves and teeth, except the horn and tooth
باب الذكاة بما أنهر الدم وفرى الأوداج والمذبح ولم يثرد، إلا الظفر والسن
Sunan al-Kubra Bayhaqi 19144
Rafi' bin Khadij (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "We anticipate, or we are afraid of fighting the enemy tomorrow, and we do not have knives with us. Shall we slaughter with reeds?" He (the Prophet) said: "Use whatever causes the blood to flow, and upon which the name of Allah has been mentioned, then eat, but do not slaughter with teeth or nails."

(١٩١٤٤) رافع بن خدیج (رض) فرماتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : ہمیں امید ہے یا ہمیں کل دشمن سے لڑنے کا خوف ہے۔ ہمارے پاس چھریاں نہیں۔ کیا ہم سرکنڈے سے ذبح کرلیں ؟ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : جو چیز خون بہائے اور اس پر اللہ کا نام لیا گیا ہو تو کھالو لیکن دانت اور ناخن سے ذبح نہیں کرنا۔
Rafi bin Khadij (RA) farmate hain ke Rasul Allah (SAW) ne farmaya: humein umeed hai ya humein kal dushman se ladne ka khauf hai humare pass churiyan nahin kya hum sarkande se zibah kar len? Aap (SAW) ne farmaya: jo cheez khoon bahaye aur us par Allah ka naam liya gaya ho to khao lekin daant aur nakhun se zibah nahin karna.
Adi bin Hatim said: I asked the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): O Messenger of Allah! I hunt, but for slaughter I only have a stone or a stick. He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Make the blood flow by whatever means you can, and mention the name of Allah.

(١٩١٤٥) عدی بن حاتم فرماتے ہیں کہ اس نے نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) سے پوچھا : اے اللہ کے رسول ! میں شکار کرتا ہوں لیکن ذبح کے لیے پتھر یا لاٹھی موجود ہوتی ہے۔ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : خون بہا دے جس چیز سے بھی تو چاہے اور اللہ کا نام لے۔
19145 Adi bin Hatim farmate hain ke usne Nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) se poocha: Aye Allah ke Rasool! mein shikar karta hun lekin zabah ke liye pathar ya lathi mojood hoti hai. Aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne farmaya: Khoon baha de jis cheez se bhi tu chahe aur Allah ka naam le.
Adi bin Hatim narrated that I asked: O Messenger of Allah! When we hunt and we do not have a knife to slaughter with, then can it be slaughtered with a stone or a piece of wood? He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Make the blood flow with whatever you like and take the name of Allah, that is, say the Takbir, Bismillah Allahu Akbar.

(١٩١٤٦) عدی بن حاتم فرماتے ہیں کہ میں نے پوچھا : اے اللہ کے رسول ! جب ہم شکار کریں اور ہمارے پاس ذبح کرنے کے لیے چھری موجود نہ ہو تو کیا پتھر یا لاٹھی کی ایک پھاڑ سے ذبح کیا جاسکتا ہے ؟ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : خون بہاؤ جس سے چاہو اور اللہ کا نام لو، یعنی تکبیر پڑھو بسم اللہ واللہ اکبر۔
(19146) Adi bin Hatim farmate hain keh maine poocha: Aye Allah ke Rasool! Jab hum shikar karein aur humare pass zibah karne ke liye churi mojood na ho to kya pathar ya lathi ki ek phar se zibah kiya jaskata hai? Aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne farmaya: Khoon bahaao jis se chaho aur Allah ka naam lo, yani takbeer padho Bismillah Wallahu Akbar.
Adi bin Hatim said: I said: O Messenger of Allah! One of us may hunt, but there is only a stone or a piece of wood to slaughter with. He (the Prophet) said: Cause the blood to flow with whatever you have, and mention the name of Allah, meaning say the Takbeer "Bismillah Allahu Akbar" (In the name of Allah, Allah is the Greatest).

(١٩١٤٧) عدی بن حاتم فرماتے ہیں : میں نے کہا : اے اللہ کے رسول ! ہم میں سے کوئی شکار کرتا ہے، لیکن ذبح کرنے کے لیے پتھر یا لاٹھی کی ایک پھاڑ موجود ہوتی ہے۔ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : خون بہاؤ جس سے چاہو اور اللہ کا نام لو یعنی تکبیر پڑھو بسم اللہ واللہ اکبر۔
(19147) Adi bin Hatim farmate hain : mein ne kaha : aye Allah ke Rasool ! hum mein se koi shikar karta hai, lekin zabah karne ke liye pathar ya lathi ki ek phar mojood hoti hai. Aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne farmaya : khoon bahaao jis se chaho aur Allah ka naam lo yani takbeer parho bismillah wallahu akbar.
Narrated `Abdullah bin `Umar (RA): A slave-girl of 'Umar (RA) used to graze his goats on the mountain of Sala'. One day she came and said, "One of the goats died so I slaughtered it with a stone and ate of it." `Umar (RA) said to his family, "Do not eat till I ask the Prophet (ﷺ) about it." So he sent someone to ask the Prophet (ﷺ), who said, "Eat (of it)."

(١٩١٤٨) عبداللہ بن عمر (رض) اپنے والد سے نقل فرماتے ہیں کہ ان کی ایک لونڈی سلع پہاڑ پر بکریاں چراتی تھی۔ جب اس نے ایک بکری کو مرتے دیکھا تو پتھر سے پکڑ کر ذبح کردیا۔ تو انھوں نے اپنے گھر والوں سے کہا : اتنی دیر نہ کھانا جتنی دیر میں نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) سے نہ پوچھ لوں تو انھوں نے نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کی جانب کسی کو پوچھنے کے لیے بھیجا ۔ اس نے کہا : اے اللہ کے نبی ! ہماری ایک لونڈی سلع پہاڑ پر بکریاں چرا رہی تھی۔ جب اس نے ایک بکری کو مرتے دیکھا تو پتھر توڑ کر اسے ذبح کر ڈالا تو نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے اس بکری کو کھانے کا حکم دے دیا۔
(19148) Abdullah bin Umar (RA) apne walid se naqal farmate hain ke un ki ek laundi Sila paharr par bakriya charati thi. Jab usne ek bakri ko marte dekha to pathar se pakar kar zibah kardiya. To unhon ne apne ghar walon se kaha: itni dair na khana jitni dair mein Nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) se na pooch lun to unhon ne Nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ki jaanib kisi ko poochne ke liye bheja. Usne kaha: Aye Allah ke Nabi! Hamari ek laundi Sila paharr par bakriya chara rahi thi. Jab usne ek bakri ko marte dekha to pathar tor kar use zibah kar dala to Nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne us bakri ko khane ka hukum de diya.
Ata' bin Yasar reported from a man of Banu Harithah that he was grazing camels on one of the hills of Uhud. He saw a she-camel dying and found nothing to slaughter it with, so he took his bow and hit it on the lip, causing it to bleed. He then came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and informed him, and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) permitted him to eat it.

(١٩١٤٩) عطاء بن یسار بنو حارثہ کے ایک شخص سے نقل فرماتے ہیں کہ وہ احد کی پہاڑیوں میں سے کسی ایک پہاڑی پر اونٹنیاں چرا رہا تھا۔ اس نے ایک اونٹنی کو مرتے دیکھا تو نحر کے لیے کوئی چیز نہ پائی تو کمان پکڑ کر اونٹنی کے لبہ پردے ماری، جس سے خون بہہ گیا۔ پھر نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کو آ کر بتایا تو آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے اس کے کھانے کا حکم دے دیا۔
Ata bin Yasar Banu Haritha ke ek shakhs se naql farmate hain ki woh Uhud ki paharion mein se kisi ek pahari par oontnian chara raha tha. Usne ek oontni ko marte dekha to nahar ke liye koi cheez na pai to kaman pakar kar oontni ke labh par de mari, jis se khoon beh gaya. Phir Nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ko aa kar bataya to aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne uske khane ka hukum de diya.
Ata' bin Yasar narrated from Abu Sa'eed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man from the Ansar had a she-camel near Uhud mountain. When it was about to die, he slaughtered it with an arrow. He asked the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) about eating it, and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) allowed him to eat it.

(١٩١٥٠) عطاء بن یسار حضرت ابو سعید خدری (رض) سے نقل فرماتے ہیں کہ احد پہاڑ کی جانب ایک انصاری شخص کی اونٹنی تھی وہ مرنے لگی تو اس نے کمان سے نحر کردیا۔ نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) سے اس کے کھانے کے بارے میں پوچھا تو آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے کھانے کی اجازت دے دی۔
Ata bin Yasar Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (RA) se naql farmate hain ke Uhud pahar ki janib ek Ansaari shakhs ki untni thi wo marne lagi to usne kaman se nahr kardiya. Nabi (SAW) se uske khane ke bare mein poocha to aap (SAW) ne khane ki ijazat de di.
'Ikrimah narrated from Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that he was asked about slaughtering with wood. He said: "Everything that cuts the veins and lets out blood, but not what does not let out blood."
And Ubaid said: "Tathrid" means an animal slaughtered with something that does not let out blood. ((مَا أَفْرَی الأَوْدَاجَ)) means: "What cuts the veins and lets out blood." Abu Ubaid said: "Some people say that it means you can eat it, but this is not correct. Rather, it means that if something like wood or stone cuts the veins, then it is considered a valid slaughter."

(١٩١٥١) عکرمہ حضرت عبداللہ بن عباس (رض) سے نقل فرماتے ہیں کہ لکڑی سے ذبح کرنے کے بارے میں ان سے پوچھا گیا تو فرمایا : ہر وہ چیز جو رگیں کاٹ دے اور خون بہا دے لیکن ایسی چیز نہ ہو جو خون نہ بہائے۔
اور عبید کہتے ہیں تثرید یعنی ایسا جانور جس کو ایسی چیز سے ذبح کیا جائے جو خون نہ بہائے۔ ( (مَا أَفْرَی الأَوْدَاجَ ) ) ایسی چیز جو رگیں کاٹ دے اور خون بہا دے۔ ابو عبید کہتے ہیں : بعض لوگ کہتے ہیں اس کا معنیٰ یہ ہے کہ آپ کھا لیں لیکن یہ درست نہیں ہے بلکہ اس کا معنیٰ یہ ہے جو چیز لکڑی یا پتھر رگوں کو کاٹ دے تو اس کو ذبح کے حکم میں مانا جائے گا۔
(19151) Akrma Hazrat Abdullah bin Abbas (Razi Allah Anhu) se naqal farmate hain ke lakri se zibah karne ke bare mein un se pucha gaya to farmaya: Har wo cheez jo ragein kaat de aur khoon baha de lekin aisi cheez na ho jo khoon na bahaye. Aur Ubaid kahte hain Tasreed yani aisa janwar jisko aisi cheez se zibah kiya jaye jo khoon na bahaye. ((Ma afral awdja)) Aisi cheez jo ragein kaat de aur khoon baha de. Abu Ubaid kahte hain: Baaz log kahte hain iska mani yeh hai ke aap kha len lekin yeh durust nahi hai balke iska mani yeh hai jo cheez lakri ya pathar ragon ko kaat de to usko zibah ke hukm mein mana jayega.
