Chapter: The farewell Tawaf is obligatory, but it is waived in the case of menstruating women

باب وُجُوبِ طَوَافِ الْوَدَاعِ وَسُقُوطِهِ عَنِ الْحَائِضِ

ي. Ibn Abbas (رضي الله تعالى عنه) reported that the people used to return through every path, whereupon Allah's Apostle (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said, none amongst you should depart until he performs the last circumambulation round the House. Zuhair said (the words are): ( َِّ فُونَ كُليَنْصَر ٍّوَجْه) and the word but in his narration the word (فِي) was not mentioned.
حضرت ابن عباس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ بیان کرتے ہیں کہ (حج کے بعد) لوگ ہر طرف سے نکل جاتے، تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”کوئی انسان سفر اختیار نہ کرے، جب تک آخری وقت میں بیت اللہ کا طواف نہ کر لے، زہیر کی روایت میں يَنْصَرِفُوْنَ
Hazrat Ibn Abbas (Radiallahu Anhuma) bayan karte hain ki (Hajj ke baad) log har taraf se nikal jaate, to Rasool Allah (Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne farmaya: "Koi insan safar ikhtiyar na kare, jab tak aakhri waqt mein Baitullah ka tawaf na kar le, Zuhair ki riwayat mein yansarifoona.
Ibn Abbas (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated that the people were commanded by the Prophet ( صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) to perform the last circumambulation round the House, but menstruating women were exempted.
حضرت ابن عباس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما بیان کرتے ہیں، لوگوں کو حکم دیا گیا ہے کہ وہ آخری وقت میں بیت اللہ کا طواف کریں، لیکن حیض والی عورت کو سہولت دی گئی ہے، (وہ پہلے جاسکتی ہے)۔
Hazrat Ibn Abbas (Radiallahu Anhuma) bayan karte hain, logon ko hukum diya gaya hai ki wo aakhri waqt mein Baitullah ka tawaf karen, lekin Haiz wali aurat ko sahoolat di gai hai, (wo pehle ja sakti hai).
Tawus reported that he was in the company of Ibn Abbas (ru when Zaid bin Thabit ( رضي الله تعالى عنه) said, do you give religious verdict that the woman who is in menses is allowed to go without performing the last circumambulation of the House? Ibn Abbas (رضي الله تعالى عنه) said to him, ask such and such woman of the Ansar, if you do not (believe my religious verdict) whether Allah's Apostle (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) had commanded her this. Zaid bin Thabit (رضي الله تعالى عنه) (went to that lady and after getting this verdict attested by her) came back to Ibn Abbas ( رضي الله تعالى عنه) smilingly and said, I did not find you but telling the truth.’
طاؤس بیان کرتے ہیں، میں ابن عباس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کے ساتھ تھا کہ حضرت زید بن ثابت رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے ان سے کہا، آپ یہ فتویٰ دیتے ہیں کہ حائضہ عورت آخری وقت میں بیت اللہ کا طواف کیے بغیر واپس جا سکتی ہے؟ تو ابن عباس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے کہا، اگر آپ یہ نہیں مانتے، تو آپ فلاں انصاری عورت سے پوچھیں، کیا رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اسے یہ حکم دیا تھا؟ تو حضرت زید بن ثابت رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ، حضرت ابن عباس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما کے پاس ہنستے ہوئے واپس آئے اور وہ کہہ رہے تھے، میرے خیال میں آپ نے سچ ہی فرمایا ہے۔
Taoos bayan karte hain, mein Ibn Abbas (Radiallahu Anhu) ke saath tha ki Hazrat Zaid bin Sabit (Radiallahu Anhu) ne un se kaha, aap ye fatwa dete hain ki haiza aurat aakhri waqt mein Baitullah ka tawaf kiye baghair wapas ja sakti hai? To Ibn Abbas (Radiallahu Anhu) ne kaha, agar aap ye nahi maante, to aap falaan Ansari aurat se poochen, kya Rasool Allah (Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne use ye hukum diya tha? To Hazrat Zaid bin Sabit (Radiallahu Anhu), Hazrat Ibn Abbas (Radiallahu Anhuma) ke paas hanste hue wapas aaye aur wo keh rahe the, mere khayal mein aap ne sach hi farmaya hai.
Ummul Momineen A'isha (رضي الله تعالى عنها) reported that Ummul Momineen Safiyyah bint Huyayy (رضي الله تعالى عنها) entered the period of menses after performing Tawaf Ifada. I made a mention of her menses to Allah's Apostle (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم), whereupon Allah's. Apostle (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) remarked, well, then she will detain us. I said, Apostle of Allah ( صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) she has performed Tawaf Ifada and circumambulated the House, and it was after this that she entered the period of menses. Thereupon Allah's Apostle (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said, (If it is so), then proceed forth.
حضرت عائشہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا بیان کرتی ہیں کہ حضرت صفیہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا کو طواف افاضہ کے بعد حیض شروع ہو گیا، تو حضرت عائشہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا نے ان کے حیض کا ذکر رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے کیا، تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”کیا وہ ہمیں روک لے گی؟“ تو حضرت عائشہ رضی اللہتعالیٰ عنہا نے کہا، اے اللہ کے رسول صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ! وہ طواف افاضہ میں بیت اللہ کا طواف کر چکی ہے، اور طواف افاضہ کے بعد حیض شروع ہوا ہے، تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”تو چلے۔“
Hazrat Aisha (Radiallahu Anha) bayan karti hain ki Hazrat Safiya (Radiallahu Anha) ko tawaf Ifadha ke baad Haiz shuru ho gaya, to Hazrat Aisha (Radiallahu Anha) ne un ke Haiz ka zikr Rasool Allah (Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam) se kiya, to Rasool Allah (Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne farmaya: "Kya wo humein rok legi?" To Hazrat Aisha (Radiallahu Anha) ne kaha, Ae Allah ke Rasool (Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam)! Wo tawaf Ifadha mein Baitullah ka tawaf kar chuki hai, aur tawaf Ifadha ke baad Haiz shuru hua hai, to Rasool Allah (Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne farmaya: "To chale."
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رُمْحٍ، حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، وَعُرْوَةَ، أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ حَاضَتْ صَفِيَّةُ بِنْتُ حُيَىٍّ بَعْدَ مَا أَفَاضَتْ - قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ - فَذَكَرْتُ حِيضَتَهَا لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " أَحَابِسَتُنَا هِيَ " . قَالَتْ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّهَا قَدْ كَانَتْ أَفَاضَتْ وَطَافَتْ بِالْبَيْتِ ثُمَّ حَاضَتْ بَعْدَ الإِفَاضَةِ . فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " فَلْتَنْفِرْ" .
Sahih Muslim 1211ab
This Hadith is narrated from Ummul Momineen A'isha (رضي الله تعالى عنها) is transmitted by Ibn Shihab with the same chain of transmitters (and the words are) Ummul Momineen Safiyyah bint Huyayy (رضي الله تعالى عنها) entered the period of menses at the occasion of the Farewell Pilgrimage after she had performed Tawaf Ifada in the state of cleanliness; the rest of the Hadith is the same.
امام صاحب اور اساتذہ سے یہی روایت بیان کرتے ہیں کہ حجۃ الوداع میں نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی بیوی صفیہ بنت حیی رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا کو طہارت کی حالت میں طواف افاضہ کرنے کے بعد حیض شروع ہو گیا، آ گے مذکورہ بالا روایت ہے۔
Imam Sahib aur asatiza se yehi riwayat bayan karte hain ki Hajjatul Wada' mein Nabi Akram (Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ki biwi Safiya bint Huyay (Radiallahu Anha) ko taharat ki halat mein tawaf Ifadha karne ke baad Haiz shuru ho gaya, aage mazkoora bala riwayat hai.
Abdur Rahman bin al-Qasim narrated on the authority of Ummul Momineen Aisha ( رضي الله تعالى عنها) that she made a mention to Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) that Ummul Momineen Safiyyah bint Huyayy (رضي الله تعالى عنها) had entered the period of menses. The rest of the Hadith is the same.
امام صاحب مختلف اساتذہ سے مذکورہ روایت بیان کرتے ہیں، کہ حضرت عائشہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو بتایا کہ صفیہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا کو حیض آنے لگا ہے۔ زہری کی حدیث والا مفہوم ہے جو اوپر گزر چکی ہے۔
Imam Sahib mukhtalif asatiza se mazkoora riwayat bayan karte hain, ki Hazrat Aisha (Radiallahu Anha) ne Rasool Allah (Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ko bataya ki Safiya (Radiallahu Anha) ko Haiz aane laga hai. Zuhri ki Hadees wala mafhoom hai jo ooper guzar chuki hai.
Ummul Momineen A'isha (رضي الله تعالى عنها) reported that we feared that Safiyyah might have entered the period of menses before performing Tawaf Ifada. Allah's Apostle (صل ى هللا عليه و آلهوسلم) came to us and said, is Safiyyah going to detain us? Thereupon we said, she has performed Tawaf Ifada. He said, then there is no He said, then there is no need for us to stay more.
حضرت عائشہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا بیان کرتی ہیں، ہمیں اندیشہ تھا کہ صفیہ کو طواف افاضہ سے پہلے حیض شروع ہو جائے گا، تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ہمارے پاس آئے اور پوچھا: ”کیا صفیہ ہمیں روک لے گی؟“ ہم نے عرض کیا، وہ طواف افاضہ کر چکی ہے، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”تب کوئی حرج نہیں ہے۔“
Hazrat Aisha (Radiallahu Anha) bayan karti hain, humein andesha tha ki Safiya ko tawaf Ifadha se pehle Haiz shuru ho jayega, to Rasool Allah (Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam) hamare paas aaye aur poocha: "Kya Safiya humein rok legi?" Hum ne arz kiya, wo tawaf Ifadha kar chuki hai, Aap (Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne farmaya: "Tab koi harj nahi hai."
Ummul Momineen A'isha (رضي الله تعالى عنها) said to the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم), Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم), Ummul Momineen Safiyyah bint Huyayy ( رضي الله تعالى عنها) has entered the state of menses, whereupon Allah's Apostle (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said, perhaps she is going to detain us. Has she not circumambulated the House along with you (whether she has not performed Tawaf Ifada)? They said, yes. He said, then they should set out.
حضرت عائشہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے عرض کیا، اے اللہ کے رسول صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ! صفیہ بنت حیی رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا کو حیض آنے لگا ہے، تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے پوچھا: ”شاید، وہ ہمیں روک لے گی، کیا اس نے تمہارے ساتھ بیت اللہ کا طواف افاضہ نہیں کیا ہے؟“ انہوں نے عرض کیا، کیوں نہیں، آپ نے فرمایا: ”تو چلو۔“
Hazrat Aisha (Radiallahu Anha) ne Rasool Allah (Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam) se arz kiya, Ae Allah ke Rasool (Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam)! Safiya bint Huyay (Radiallahu Anha) ko Haiz aane laga hai, to Aap (Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne poocha: "Shayad, wo humein rok legi, kya us ne tumhare saath Baitullah ka tawaf Ifadha nahi kiya hai?" Unho ne arz kiya, kyun nahi, Aap ne farmaya: "To chalo."
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى، قَالَ قَرَأْتُ عَلَى مَالِكٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَمْرَةَ بِنْتِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتَ حُيَىٍّ قَدْ حَاضَتْ . فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " لَعَلَّهَا تَحْبِسُنَا أَلَمْ تَكُنْ قَدْ طَافَتْ مَعَكُنَّ بِالْبَيْتِ " . قَالُوا بَلَى . قَالَ " فَاخْرُجْنَ " .

Ummul Momineen A'isha (رضي الله تعالى عنها) reported that Allah's Apostle (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) inclined to do with Ummul Momineen Safiyyah (رضي الله تعالى عنها) what a man feels inclined to do with his wife. They said, Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم), she has entered the state of menses, whereupon he said, (well) she is going to detain us. They (his wives) said, Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم), she performed Tawaf Ziyara (Tawaf Ifada) on the Day of Nahr. Thereupon he said, then she should proceed along with you.
حضرت عائشہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا بیان کرتی ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے حضرت صفیہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا سے وہ ارادہ کیا، جو مرد اپنی بیوی سے کرتا ہے، تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو بتایا گیا، اے اللہ کے رسول صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ! وہ تو حائضہ ہے، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”تو وہ ہمیں روک لے گی۔“ سب ازواج نے عرض کیا، اے اللہ کے رسول صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ! وہ قربانی کے دن طواف زیارت کر چکی ہے، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”تو پھر تمہارے ساتھ روانہ ہو جائے۔“
Hazrat Aisha (Radiallahu Anha) bayan karti hain ki Rasool Allah (Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne Hazrat Safiya (Radiallahu Anha) se wo irada kiya, jo mard apni biwi se karta hai, to Aap (Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ko bataya gaya, Ae Allah ke Rasool (Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam)! Wo to Haiza hai, Aap (Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne farmaya: "To wo humein rok legi." Sab Azwaj ne arz kiya, Ae Allah ke Rasool (Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam)! Wo qurbani ke din tawaf Ziyarat kar chuki hai, Aap (Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne farmaya: "To phir tumhare saath rawana ho jaye."
Ummul Momineen A'isha (رضي الله تعالى عنها) reported that when Allah's Apostle ( صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) decided to march (for return journey), he found Ummul Momineen Safiyyah ( رضي الله تعالى عنها) at the door of her tent, sad and downcast. He remarked. Barren, shaven head you are going to detain us, and then said, did you perform Tawaf Ifada on the Day of Nahr? She replied in the affirmative, whereupon he said, then (let us) march on.
حضرت عائشہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا بیان کرتی ہیں، جب رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے سفر کرنے کا ارادہ کیا، تو اچانک دیکھا، کہ صفیہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا اپنے خیمہ کے دروازہ پر کبیدہ خاطر، غمزدہ کھڑی ہے، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”سر منڈی تو ہمیں روک لے گی۔“ پھر آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے پوچھا: ”کیا تو نے قربانی کے دن طواف افاضہ کیا تھا؟“ اس نے عرض کیا، جی ہاں۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”تو چل۔“
Hazrat Aisha (Radiallahu Anha) bayan karti hain, jab Rasool Allah (Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam) safar karne ka irada kiya, to achanak dekha, ki Safiya (Radiallahu Anha) apne khaima ke darwaza par kabeeda khatir, ghamzada khadi hai, Aap (Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne farmaya: "Sar mundi to humein rok legi." Phir Aap (Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne poocha: "Kya to ne qurbani ke din tawaf Ifadha kiya tha?" Us ne arz kiya, ji haan. Aap (Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne farmaya: "To chal."
This Hadith is narrated by Ummul Momineen A'isha (رضي الله تعالى عنها) through another chain of transmitters, but no mention is made of ‘sad and downcast.’
امام صاحب اپنے مختلف اساتذہ سے مذکورہ بالا روایت بیان کرتے ہیں لیکن اس میں کبیدہ خاطر غمزدہ کا ذکر نہیں ہے۔
Imam Sahib apne mukhtalif asatiza se mazkoora bala riwayat bayan karte hain lekin is mein kabeeda khatir ghamzada ka zikr nahi hai.
