Humran, the freed slave of 'Uthman ( رضي الله تعالى عنه), said: I heard from Uthman bin 'Affan (رضي الله تعالى عنه) and he was in the courtyard of the mosque, when the Mu'adhdhin (announcer of the prayer) came to him at the time of afternoon prayer. So the ('Uthman رضي الله تعالى عنه) called for the ablution water and performed ablution and then said: By Allah, I am narrating to you a Hadith. If there were not a verse in the Book of Allah, I would have never narrated it to you. I heard Allah's Apostle ( صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) say: If a Muslim performs ablution and does it well and offers prayer, all his (sins) daring the period from one prayer to another would be pardoned by Allah.
حضرت عثمان ؓ کے آزاد کردہ غلام حمران بیان کرتے ہیں: کہ میں نے عثمان بن عفان ؓسے مسجد کے صحن میں سنا، عصر کے وقت ان کے پاس مؤذن آیا، تو انھوں نے وضو کے لیے پانی منگوایا، پھر کہا: اللہ کی قسم! میں تمھیں ایک حدیث سناتا ہوں۔ اگر کتاب اللہ کی ایک آیت (علم چھپانے کی وعید کے بارے میں) نہ ہوتی، تو میں تمھیں نہ سناتا۔ میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو فرماتے ہوئے سنا: ”کوئی مسلمان آدمی اچھی طرح وضو نہیں کرتا کہ اس سے کوئی نماز پڑھے، مگر اللہ تعالیٰ اس کے اس نماز اور اس سے پیوستہ (بعد والی) نماز کے درمیان کے گناہ (صغیرہ) معاف کر دیتا ہے۔“
Hazrat Usman (Radi Allahu Anhu) ke aazad karda ghulam Humran (Rehmatullah Alaih) bayan karte hain: ke main ne Usman bin Affan (Radi Allahu Anhu) se masjid ke sehan mein suna, asar ke waqt un ke paas muazzin aaya, to unhon ne wazu ke liye pani mangwaya, phir kaha: Allah ki qasam! Main tumhein ek hadith sunata hoon. Agar Kitabullah ki ek ayat (ilm chhupane ki wa'eed ke baare mein) na hoti, to main tumhein na sunata. Main ne Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ko farmate hue suna: "Koi Musalman aadmi achhi tarah wazu nahin karta ke us se koi namaz parhe, magar Allah Ta'ala us ke is namaz aur us se paiwasta (baad wali) namaz ke darmiyan ke gunah (sagheera) maaf kar deta hai."
The above Hadith is also narrated on the authority with the same chain of transmitters and in the Hadith of Abu Usama the words are : "He who performed the ablution well and then offered the obligatory prayer."
ابو امامہ، وکیع اور سفیان نے ہشام کی مذکورہ بالا سند سے حدیث سنائی۔ ابو اسامہ کی حدیث میں ہے: ”تو اچھی طرح وضو کرتا ہے، پھر فرض نماز پڑھتا ہے۔“
Abu Umamah (Rehmatullah Alaih), Waki (Rehmatullah Alaih) aur Sufyan (Rehmatullah Alaih) ne Hisham (Rehmatullah Alaih) ki mazkoora bala sanad se hadith sunayi. Abu Usamah (Rehmatullah Alaih) ki hadith mein hai: "To achhi tarah wazu karta hai, phir farz namaz parhta hai."
Humran reported that when 'Uthman (رضي الله تعالى عنه), performed ablution, he said, said : By Allah, I am narrating to you a Hadith had there not been this verse in the Book of Allah I would not have narrated it to you. Verily I heard the Apostle of Allah ( صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) say: Not a person is there who performed ablution, and did it well, then offered prayer, but his sins (which he committed) were not pardoned between the prayer that he offered and the next one. 'Urwa said: The verse is - ََلْنَا مِنإِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَكْتُمُونَ مَا أَنز ُٰ مِن بَعْدِ مَا بَيَّنَّاهالْبَيِ نَاتِ وَالْهُدَى
ِِ فِي الْكِتَابلِلنَّاس ۙ ََّ عِنُونَّ ُ وَ يَلْعَنُهُمُ الالأُولَـٰئِكَ يَلْعَنُهُمُ َّللا [ Indeed, those who conceal what We sent down of clear proofs and guidance after We made it clear for the people in the Scripture - those are cursed by Allah and cursed by those who curse.] (Al-Baqara - 159).
حمران نے کہا: جب عثمان ؓ نے وضو کیا، تو کہا: اللہ کی قسم! میں تمھیں ایک حدیث سناتا ہوں۔ اللہ کی قسم! اگر اللہ کی کتاب میں ایک آیت نہ ہوتی، تو میں تمھیں وہ حدیث نہ سناتا، میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو فرماتے ہوئے سنا: ”جب کوئی آدمی وضو کرتا ہے اور وہ اپنے وضو کو اچھی طرح کرتا ہے، پھر نماز پڑھتا ہے، تو اسے اس نماز اور اس کے بعد والی نماز کے درمیانی گناہ معاف کر دیے جاتے ہیں۔“ عروہ نے کہا: وہ آیت یہ ہے: ”جو لوگ ان دلائل اور ہدایات کو چھپاتے ہیں، جو ہم نے اتارے ہیں۔“ سے لے کر ﴿اللَّاعِنُونَ﴾ ”لعنت کرنے والوں“ تک۔ (البقرة: 159)
Humran (Rehmatullah Alaih) ne kaha: Jab Usman (Radi Allahu Anhu) ne wazu kiya, to kaha: Allah ki qasam! Main tumhein ek hadith sunata hoon. Allah ki qasam! Agar Allah ki kitab mein ek ayat na hoti, to main tumhein wo hadith na sunata, main ne Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ko farmate hue suna: "Jab koi aadmi wazu karta hai aur wo apne wazu ko achhi tarah karta hai, phir namaz parhta hai, to usay is namaz aur us ke baad wali namaz ke darmiyani gunah maaf kar diye jate hain." Urwah (Rehmatullah Alaih) ne kaha: Wo ayat ye hai: "Jo log in dalail aur hidayat ko chhupate hain, jo hum ne utare hain." se le kar (Al-La'inoon) "Lanat karne walon" tak. (Al-Baqarah: 159)
Amr bin Sa'id bin al-As reported: I was with Uthman (رضي الله تعالى عنه), and he called for ablution water and said : I heard Allah's Apostle (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) say: When the time for a prescribed prayer comes, if any Muslim performs ablution well and offers his prayer with humility and bowing, it will be an expiation for his past sins, so long as he has not committed a major sin; and this applies for all times.
اسحٰق بن سعید بن عمرو بن سعید بن عاص نے اپنے باپ سے روایت سنائی: کہ میں عثمان ؓ کے پاس تھا، انھوں نے پانی طلب کیا اور کہا: میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو فرماتے ہوئے سنا: ”جس مسلمان انسان نے فرض نماز کا وقت پایا، پھر اس نے اس کے لیے اچھی طرح وضو کر کے اچھی طرح خشوع سے رکوع کیا (نماز پڑھی)، تو یہ نماز پچھلے تمام گناہوں کا کفارہ ہو گی، جب تک وہ گناہ ِ کبیرہ کا ارتکاب نہیں کرتا اور یہ سلسلہ ہمیشہ جاری رہے گا۔“
Ishaq bin Saeed bin Amr bin Saeed bin Aas (Rehmatullah Alaih) ne apne baap se riwayat sunayi: ke main Usman (Radi Allahu Anhu) ke paas tha, unhon ne pani talab kiya aur kaha: main ne Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ko farmate hue suna: "Jis Musalman insaan ne farz namaz ka waqt paya, phir us ne us ke liye achhi tarah wazu kar ke achhi tarah khushu se ruku kiya (namaz parhi), to ye namaz pichhle tamam gunahon ka kaffara ho gi, jab tak wo gunah-e-kabira ka ikartikaab nahin karta aur ye silsila hamesha jari rahe ga."
Humran, the freed slave of 'Uthman (رضي الله تعالى عنه), reported that he brought for Uthman bin 'Affan (رضي الله تعالى عنه) the ablution water. He performed ablution and then said : Verily the people narrate from the Apostle of Allah ( صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) a Hadith. I do not know what these are. but (I know this fact) that I saw the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) perform ablution like this ablution of mine and then he said: He who performed ablution like this, all his previous sins would be expiated and his prayer and going towards the mosque would have an extra reward. In the tradition narrated by Ibn Abda (the words are):" I came to Uthman ( رضي الله تعالى عنه) and he performed ablution."
حضرت عثمان ؓ کےمولیٰ حمران سے روایت سنائی: کہ میں عثمان بن عفان ؓ کے پاس پانی لایا، تو انھوں نے وضو کیا، پھر کہا: کچھ لوگ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے حدیثیں بیان کرتے ہیں، جن کی حقیقت کو میں نہیں جانتا، مگر میں نے رسول اللہ کو دیکھا، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے میرے وضوء کی طرح وضوء کیا، پھر فرمایا: ”جس نے اس طرح وضو کیا، اس کے گزشتہ گناہ معاف ہو جائیں گے، اور اس کی نماز اور مسجد کی طرف جانا نفل (زائد ثواب کا باعث) ہو گا۔“ ابنِ عبدہ کی روایت میں ہے: میں عثمان ؓکے پاس آیا، تو انھوں نے وضو کیا۔
Hazrat Usman (Radi Allahu Anhu) ke Maula Humran (Rehmatullah Alaih) se riwayat sunayi: ke main Usman bin Affan (Radi Allahu Anhu) ke paas pani laya, to unhon ne wazu kiya, phir kaha: kuch log Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) se hadithen bayan karte hain, jin ki haqiqat ko main nahin jaanta, magar main ne Rasool Allah ko dekha, Aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne mere wazu ki tarah wazu kiya, phir farmaya: "Jis ne is tarah wazu kiya, us ke guzishta gunah maaf ho jayenge, aur us ki namaz aur masjid ki taraf jana nafal (zaid sawab ka bais) ho ga." Ibn-e-Abda (Rehmatullah Alaih) ki riwayat mein hai: Main Usman (Radi Allahu Anhu) ke paas aaya, to unhon ne wazu kiya.
Abu Anas reported that Uthman (رضي الله تعالى عنه) performed ablution at Maqi'aid ( a place where Uthman رضي الله تعالى عنه used to meet people) and said: Should I not show you the ablution performed by Allah's Apostle (صلى هللا عليه و آله وسلم)? And he then washed (the different parts of the body) three times. Qutaiba has added in his narration the words:" There were with him (with Uthman رضي الله تعالى عنه
) Companions of Allah's Apostle (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)."
ابو انس بیان کرتے ہیں، کہ حضرت عثمان ؓنے مقاعد (بیٹھنے کی جگہ) کے پاس وضو کرنے کا ارادہ کیا، تو کہا: ”کیا میں تمھیں رسول اللہ کا وضوء نہ بتاؤں؟“ پھر ہر عضو کو تین تین بار دھویا۔ اور قتیبہ کی روایت میں یہ اضافہ ہے: عثمان ؓ کے پاس رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے کافی ساتھی موجود تھے۔
Abu Anas (Rehmatullah Alaih) bayan karte hain, ke Hazrat Usman (Radi Allahu Anhu) ne Maqa'id (baithne ki jagah) ke paas wazu karne ka irada kiya, to kaha: "Kya main tumhein Rasool Allah ka wazu na bataun?" Phir har uzv ko teen teen baar dhoya. Aur Qutaibah (Rehmatullah Alaih) ki riwayat mein ye izafa hai: Usman (Radi Allahu Anhu) ke paas Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ke kafi sathi maujood the.
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ وَزُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ - وَاللَّفْظُ لِقُتَيْبَةَ وَأَبِي بَكْرٍ - قَالُوا حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ أَبِي النَّضْرِ، عَنْ أَبِي أَنَسٍ، أَنَّ عُثْمَانَ، تَوَضَّأَ بِالْمَقَاعِدِ فَقَالَ أَلاَ أُرِيكُمْ وُضُوءَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ثُمَّ تَوَضَّأَ ثَلاَثًا ثَلاَثًا . وَزَادَ قُتَيْبَةُ فِي رِوَايَتِهِ قَالَ سُفْيَانُ قَالَ أَبُو النَّضْرِ عَنْ أَبِي أَنَسٍ قَالَ وَعِنْدَهُ رِجَالٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم .
Sahih Muslim 231a
Humran bin Aban reported: I used to fetch water for 'Uthman ( رضي الله تعالى عنه) for his purification. Never was there a day that he did not take a bath with a small quantity of water. And Uthman (رضي الله تعالى عنه) said: The Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) at the time of our returning from our prayer told us (certain things pertaining to purification). Mis'ar said: I find that it was afternoon prayer. He said: I do not know whether I should tell you a thing or keep quiet. We said: Apostle of Allah ( صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم), tell us if it is good and if it is otherwise, Allah and His Apostle ( صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) know better. Upon this he said: A Muslim who purifies (himself) and completes purification as enjoined upon him by Allah and then offers the prayers, that will be expiation (of his sins he committed) between these (prayers).
حمران بن ابان بیان کرتے ہیں: میں عثمان ؓ کے وضو کے لیے پانی رکھا کرتا تھا، وہ ہر دن کچھ پانی سے غسل فرماتے تھے۔ عثمان ؓ نے کہا: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ہمیں اس نماز سے (مسعر نے کہا: میرا خیال ہے عصر مراد ہے) سلام پھیرنے کے بعد کہا: ”میں نہیں جانتا تم سے کچھ بیان کروں یا چپ رہوں؟“ ہم نے عرض کیا: اے اللہ کے رسولؐ! اگر بہتری و بھلائی کی بات ہے، تو ہمیں بتا دیجیے! اور اگر کچھ اور ہے، تو اللہ اور اس کا رسول ؐہی بہتر جانتے ہیں۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”جو مسلمان وضو کرتا ہے اور جو وضوء اللہ نے اس کے لیے فرض قرار دیا ہے، اس کو پوری طرح (مکمل طور پر)کرتا ہے، پھر یہ پانچوں نمازیں ادا کرتا ہے، تو یہ نمازیں ان گناہوں کے لیے کفارہ بن جائیں گی جو ان نمازوں کے درمیان سرزد ہوئے ہیں۔“
Humran bin Aban (Rehmatullah Alaih) bayan karte hain: main Usman (Radi Allahu Anhu) ke wazu ke liye pani rakkha karta tha, wo har din kuch pani se ghusal farmate the. Usman (Radi Allahu Anhu) ne kaha: Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne hamein is namaz se (Mis'ar (Rehmatullah Alaih) ne kaha: mera khayal hai asar murad hai) salam pherne ke baad kaha: "Main nahin jaanta tum se kuch bayan karun ya chup rahun?" Hum arz kiya: Ae Allah ke Rasool (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam)! Agar behtari-o-bhalayi ki baat hai, to hamein bata dijiye! Aur agar kuch aur hai, to Allah aur us ka Rasool (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) hi behtar jaante hain. Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne farmaya: "Jo Musalman wazu karta hai aur jo wazu Allah ne us ke liye farz qarar diya hai, us ko poori tarah (mukammal taur par) karta hai, phir ye panchon namazen ada karta hai, to ye namazen in gunahon ke liye kaffara ban jayenge jo in namazon ke darmiyan sarzad hue hain."
س. Jami' bin Shaddad reported: I heard Humran bin Aban narrate to Abu Burda in this very mosque during the governorship of Bishr that 'Uthman bin Affan ( رضي الله تعالى عنه) said: The Apostle of Allah (صلى هللا عليه و آله وسلم) observed: He who completed ablution as Allah, the Exalted, enjoined upon him, his obligatory prayers would be expiation (for his minor sins that he would commit) during (the interval) between them. This Hadith is transmitted by Ibn Mu'adh, and in the Hadith narrated by Ghundar, the words" during the governorship of Bishr" are omitted and there is no mention of the obligatory prayers.
جامع بن شداد سے روایت ہے، کہ میں نےحمران بن ابان سے اس مسجد میں ابو بردہ کو بشر کے دورِ حکومت میں بتاتے ہوئے سنا، کہ عثمان بن عفان ؓ نے بتایا کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”جس نے وضو کو اس طرح پورا کیا جس طرح اللہ نے حکم دیا ہے، تو فرض نمازیں ان گناہوں کے لیے کفارہ بنیں گی جو ان کے درمیان ہوئے۔“ یہ ابنِ معاذ کی روایت ہے، غندر کی حدیث میں بشر کی امارت اور فرض نمازوں کا ذکر نہیں ہے۔
Jami bin Shaddad (Rehmatullah Alaih) se riwayat hai, ke main ne Humran bin Aban (Rehmatullah Alaih) se is masjid mein Abu Burdah (Rehmatullah Alaih) ko Bishr ke daur-e-hukumat mein batate hue suna, ke Usman bin Affan (Radi Allahu Anhu) ne bataya ke Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne farmaya: "Jis ne wazu ko is tarah poora kiya jis tarah Allah ne hukm diya hai, to farz namazen in gunahon ke liye kaffara banengi jo in ke darmiyan hue." Ye Ibn-e-Muaz (Rehmatullah Alaih) ki riwayat hai, Ghundar (Rehmatullah Alaih) ki hadith mein Bishr ki imarat aur farz namazon ka zikr nahin hai.
Humran, the freed slave of 'Uthman (رضي الله تعالى عنه), reported that one day Uthman bin 'Affan (رضي الله تعالى عنه) performed the ablution well, and then said: I saw Allah's Apostle (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) perform ablution, the best ablution, and then observed: He who performed ablution like this and then went towards the mosque and nothing (but the love of) prayer urged him (to do so), all his previous (minor) sins would be expiated.
حمران (مولیٰ عثمان) سے روایت ہے، کہ ایک دن حضرت عثمان بن عفانؓ نے بہت اچھی طرح وضو کیا، پھر کہا: میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو دیکھا، آپ نے بہت اچھی طرح وضو کیا پھر فرمایا: ”جس نے اس طرح وضو کیا، پھر مسجد کو محض نماز کے ارادے سے گیا، تو اس کے گزشتہ گناہ معاف کر دیے جائیں گے۔“
Humran (Rehmatullah Alaih) (Maula Usman) se riwayat hai, ke ek din Hazrat Usman bin Affan (Radi Allahu Anhu) ne bahut achhi tarah wazu kiya, phir kaha: Main ne Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ko dekha, Aap ne bahut achhi tarah wazu kiya phir farmaya: "Jis ne is tarah wazu kiya, phir masjid ko mahz namaz ke irade se gaya, to us ke guzishta gunah maaf kar diye jayenge."
Humran, the freed slave of 'Uthman bin Affan (رضي الله تعالى عنه), reported on the authority of Uthman bin 'Affan (رضي الله تعالى عنه) that he heard Allah's Apostle (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) saying : He who performed ablution for prayer and performed it properly and then went (to observe) obligatory prayer and offered it along with people or with the congregation or in the mosque, Allah would pardon his sins.
CHAPTER (5)
ُ وَالْجُمُعَةُ إِلَى الْجُمُعَةِ وَرَمَضَانُ إِلَىباب الصَّلَوَاتُ الْخَمْس رَمَضَانَ مُكَفِ رَاتٌ لِمَا ُبَيْنَهُنَّ مَا اجْتُنِبَتِ الْكَبَائِر The five daily prayers, from one Jumu`ah to the next, and from one Ramadan to the next, are an expiation for whatever (sins) come in between, so long as one avoids major sins
حمران مولیٰ عثمان بن عفان، حضرت عثمان بن عفان ؓ سے روایت بیان کرتے ہیں، کہ میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو فرماتے ہوئے سنا: ”جس نے نماز کے لیے کامل وضوکیا، پھر فرض نماز کے لیے چل کر گیا اور لوگوں کے ساتھ یا باجماعت نماز ادا کی یا مسجد میں نماز پڑھی، اللہ تعالیٰ اس کے گناہ معاف کر دیتا ہے۔“
Humran (Rehmatullah Alaih) Maula Usman bin Affan, Hazrat Usman bin Affan (Radi Allahu Anhu) se riwayat bayan karte hain, ke main ne Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ko farmate hue suna: "Jis ne namaz ke liye kamil wazu kiya, phir farz namaz ke liye chal kar gaya aur logon ke sath ya ba-jama'at namaz ada ki ya masjid mein namaz parhi, Allah Ta'ala us ke gunah maaf kar deta hai."
