It has been narrated on the authority of Ibn Mas'ud that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: He who devours the property of a Muslim by making a false oath, will meet Allah in a state that Allah will be angry with him. On hearing this 'Ash'ath said: This verse was revealed in connection with my case. A piece of land was jointly owned by me and a Jew. He denied my right (of ownership). I took him to the Prophet (ﷺ) and he asked (me): Have you got any evidence? I said: No. He (the Holy Prophet) said to the Jew: Will you swear an oath? I said: Messenger of Allah! He would take away my property by swearing a false oath. Thereupon Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, revealed this verse: Those who swallow the property of orphans unjustly.... up to.... Verily, those who purchase a small gain at the cost of Allah's Covenant....

حضرت ابن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ نبی کریم ﷺ نے ارشاد فرمایا جو شخص جھوٹی قسم کھا کر کسی مسلمان کا مال ہتھیا لے وہ اللہ سے اس حال میں ملاقات کرے گا اللہ اس سے ناراض ہوگا یہ سن کر حضرت اشعث رضی اللہ عنہ فرمانے لگے کہ یہ ارشاد میرے واقعے میں نازل ہوا تھا جس کی تفصیل یہ ہے کہ میرے اور ایک یہودی کے درمیان کچھ زمین مشترک تھی یہودی میرے حصے کا منکر ہوگا میں اسے نبی کریم ﷺ کی خدمت میں لے آیا نبی کریم ﷺ نے مجھ سے فرمایا کیا تمہارے پاس گواہ ہیں؟ میں نے عرض کیا نہیں بنی کریم ﷺ نے یہودی سے فرمایا کہ تم قسم کھاؤ، میں نے عرض کیا یا رسول اللہ! یہ تو قسم کھا کر میرا مال لے جائے گا، اس پر اللہ نے یہ آیت آخرتک نازل فرمائی کہ " جو لوگ اللہ کے وعدے اور اپنی قسم کو معمولی سی قیمت کے عوض بیچ دیتے ہیں۔۔۔۔
Hazrat Ibn Masood Raziallahu Anhu se marvi hai ki Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne irshad farmaya jo shakhs jhooti qasam kha kar kisi musalman ka maal haseya le wo Allah se is haal mein mulaqat karega Allah us se naraz hoga ye sunkar Hazrat Usayd Raziallahu Anhu farmane lage ki ye irshad mere waqeye mein nazil hua tha jis ki tafseel ye hai ki mere aur ek yahudi ke darmiyan kuch zameen mushtak thi yahudi mere hisse ka munkar hoga main usey Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ki khidmat mein le aya Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne mujh se farmaya kya tumhare pass gawah hain main ne arz kiya nahin Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne yahudi se farmaya ki tum qasam khao main ne arz kiya ya Rasulullah ye to qasam kha kar mera maal le jayega is par Allah ne ye ayat aakhir tak nazil farmai ki jo log Allah ke waday aur apni qasam ko mamuli si qeemat ke awaz bech dete hain
It is narrated on the authority of Ash'ath bin Qais (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "He who does not thank people does not thank Allah."

حضرت اشعث بن قیس رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا جو لوگوں کا شکریہ ادا نہیں کرتا وہ اللہ کا شکر بھی ادا نہیں کرتا۔
Hazrat Ashas bin Qais (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se marvi hai ki Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya jo logon ka shukriya ada nahin karta woh Allah ka shukar bhi ada nahin karta.
It is narrated by Ash'as bin Qais (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) with a delegation who did not consider me to be the best among them. I said, "O Messenger of Allah! We think that your lineage meets with ours?" The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "We are the descendants of Nadr bin Kinanah. We do not accuse our mothers of adultery, nor do we deny our lineage from our fathers." After this, Ash'as (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say that if anyone were to be brought to me who denied the lineage of Quraysh from Nadr bin Kinanah, I would have him flogged.

حضرت اشعث بن قیس رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ میں ایک وفد کے ساتھ نبی کریم ﷺ کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوا جو مجھے اپنے میں سے افضل نہیں سمجھتے تھے میں نے عرض کیا یا رسول اللہ! ہمارا خیال ہے کہ آپ کا نسب نامہ ہم لوگوں سے ملتا ہے؟ نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا ہم لوگ نضر بن کنانہ کی اولاد ہیں ہم اپنی ماں پر تہمت لگاتے ہیں اور نہ ہی اپنے باپ سے اپنے نسب کی نفی کرتے ہیں اس کے بعد حضرت اشعث رضی اللہ عنہ فرماتے تھے کہ اگر میرے پاس کوئی ایسا آدمی لایا گیا جو قریش کے نسب کی نضر بن کنانہ سے نفی کرتا ہو تو میں اسے کوڑوں کی سزا دوں گا۔
Hazrat Ashas bin Qais RA se marvi hai keh aik martaba main aik wafd ke sath Nabi Kareem SAW ki khidmat mein hazir hua jo mujhe apne mein se afzal nahi samajhte thay main ne arz kiya Ya Rasulullah hamara khayal hai keh aap ka nasab nama hum logon se milta hai Nabi Kareem SAW ne farmaya hum log Nazar bin Kinana ki aulaad hain hum apni maan per tohmat lagate hain aur na hi apne baap se apne nasab ki nafi karte hain is ke baad Hazrat Ashas RA farmate thay keh agar mere pass koi aisa aadmi laya gaya jo Quraish ke nasab ki Nazar bin Kinana se nafi karta ho to main use kordon ki saza dun ga.
Ash'as bin Qais (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) with the delegation of Kindah. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked me, "Do you have any children?" I said, "When I was leaving to see you, a son was born to me from the daughter of Jamd. I wished that people would have been quenched instead of him." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Do not say that, for children are the coolness of the eyes, and if they die, they are a source of reward. Yes, if you have to say anything, then say that children are a cause of cowardice and grief." (He said this twice).

حضرت اشعث بن قیس رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ میں کندہ کے وفد کے ساتھ نبی کریم ﷺ کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوا نبی کریم ﷺ نے مجھ سے پوچھا کہ کیا تمہاری کوئی اولاد ہے؟ میں نے عرض کیا کہ جب میں آپ کی طرف نکل رہا تھا تو بنت جمد سے میرے یہاں ایک بیٹا پیدا ہوا تھا میری تو خواہش تھی کہ اس کی بجائے لوگ ہی سیراب ہوجاتے تو بہت اچھا تھا نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا ایسے مت کہو کیونکہ اولاد آنکھوں کی ٹھنڈگ ہوتی ہے اور گر فوت ہوجائے تو باعث اجر ہوتی ہے ہاں اگر کچھ کہنا ہی ہے تو یوں کہو کہ اولاد بزدلی کا اور غم کا سبب بن جاتی ہے (یہ جملہ دو مرتبہ فرمایا)
Hazrat Ashas bin Qais Radi Allaho Anhu se marvi hai ki main Kinda ke wafd ke sath Nabi Kareem Sallallaho Alaihi Wasallam ki khidmat mein hazir hua. Nabi Kareem Sallallaho Alaihi Wasallam ne mujhse pucha ki kya tumhari koi aulad hai? Maine arz kiya ki jab main aap ki taraf nikal raha tha to Bint Jamad se mere yahan ek beta paida hua tha. Meri to khawahish thi ki uski bajay log hi sirab hojate to bahut acha tha. Nabi Kareem Sallallaho Alaihi Wasallam ne farmaya aise mat kaho kyunki aulad aankhon ki thandak hoti hai aur agar foot hojaye to baais ajr hoti hai. Haan agar kuch kehna hi hai to yun kaho ki aulad buzdali ka aur gham ka sabab ban jati hai (ye jumla do martaba farmaya).
Hazrat Ibn Masood (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Whoever takes a false oath to deprive a Muslim of his wealth will meet Allah in such a state that Allah will be displeased with him." Upon hearing this, Hazrat Ash'ath (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "This guidance was revealed in my incident, which is that there was some shared land between me and a Jew. The Jew denied my share, so I brought him to the service of the Prophet (peace be upon him). The Prophet (peace be upon him) asked me, 'Do you have witnesses?' I replied in the negative. The Prophet (peace be upon him) then said to the Jew, 'Take an oath.' I protested, 'O Messenger of Allah! By taking an oath, he will take my wealth.' Allah then revealed the verse until the end, 'Those who sell the covenant of Allah and their oaths for a small price...'"

Hazrat Ibn Masood (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever takes a false oath to usurp a Muslim's property, he will meet Allah in such a state that Allah will be displeased with him." Upon hearing this, Hazrat Ash'ath (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "This guidance was revealed in my incident, in which there was a piece of land between me and a Jew. The Jew denied my share, so I brought him to the service of the Prophet (peace be upon him). The Prophet (peace be upon him) asked me, 'Do you have witnesses?' I replied, 'No.' The Prophet (peace be upon him) then said to the Jew, 'Take an oath.' I objected, 'O Messenger of Allah! By taking an oath, he will take my property.' Upon this, Allah revealed the verse until the end: 'Those who break the covenant of Allah after contracting it and sever that which Allah has ordered to be joined...'."

Hazrat Ibn Masood (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever takes a false oath to unlawfully take a Muslim's property, he will meet Allah in that state, and Allah will be displeased with him." Upon hearing this, Hazrat Ash'ath (may Allah be pleased with him) said that this guidance was revealed in an incident that happened to him. The incident was that there was some shared land between me and a Jew, who denied my share. I brought him to the service of the Prophet (peace be upon him), and the Prophet (peace be upon him) asked me, "Do you have witnesses?" I replied in the negative. The Prophet (peace be upon him) then said to the Jew, "Take an oath." I expressed my concern that the Jew might take a false oath and take away my property. Upon this, Allah revealed the verse until the end: "Those who exchange the covenant of Allah and their oaths for a small price..."

Narrated by Ibn Masood (رضي الله تعالى عنه) that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said, "Whoever seizes the property of a Muslim by taking a false oath will meet Allah in a state where Allah will be angry with him." And in its confirmation, Allah revealed this verse till the end: "Those who sell the covenant of Allah and their oaths for a paltry price..." After that, I met Uthman (رضي الله تعالى عنه), and he asked, "What Hadith did Ibn Masood (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrate to you today?" I told him. He said, "This verse was revealed about me."

It is narrated on the authority of Usha'th (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "The most grateful servant of Allah is the one who is most thankful to the people."

حضرت اشعث رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ نبی کریم ﷺ نے ارشاد فرمایا اللہ کا سب سے زیادہ شکر گذار بندہ وہی ہے ہوتا ہے جو لوگوں کا سب سے زیادہ شکریہ ادا کرتا ہے
Hazrat Ashas RA se marvi hai ke Nabi Kareem SAW ne irshad farmaya Allah ka sab se zyada shukar guzaar banda wohi hota hai jo logon ka sab se zyada shukriya ada karta hai.
It is narrated on the authority of Hazrat Usha'th (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "He who is not grateful to the people is not grateful to Allah."

حضرت اشعث رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ نبی کریم ﷺ نے ارشاد فرمایا جو لوگوں کا شکریہ ادا نہیں کرتا وہ اللہ کا بھی شکر ادا نہیں کرتا۔

Shafeeq bin Salma narrated that once, Abdullah ibn Masood (may Allah be pleased with him) told us three hadiths. One of them was that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Whoever seizes the property of a Muslim by taking a false oath will meet Allah while He is angry with him." At that time, Ash'ath (may Allah be pleased with him) came and asked, "What hadiths did Abu Abdur-Rahman narrate?" We told him. Ash'ath said, "This verse was revealed concerning my case." He then said, "My cousin and I had a piece of land in partnership. He denied my share, so I brought him to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked me, 'Do you have any witnesses?' I said, 'No.' The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) told the Jew to take an oath. I said, 'O Messenger of Allah! He will take my property by taking a false oath.' Upon this, Allah revealed this verse until the end: 'Verily, those who purchase a small gain at the cost of Allah's Covenant...' "

شفیق بن سلمہ کہتے ہیں کہ ایک مرتبہ حضرت ابن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہ نے ہمیں تین حدیثیں سنائیں ان میں سے ایک یہ بھی تھی کہ نبی کریم ﷺ نے ارشاد فرمایا جو شخص جھوٹی قسم کھا کر کسی مسلمان کا مال ہتھیالے وہ اللہ سے اس حال میں ملاقات کرے گا اللہ اس سے ناراض ہوگا، اسی اثناء میں حضرت اشعث رضی اللہ عنہ بھی آگئے وہ کہنے لگے کہ ابو عبدالرحمن نے کون سی حدیثیں بیان کی ہیں؟ ہم نے انہیں بتادیا، حضرت اشعث فرمانے لگے کہ یہ ارشاد میرے واقعے میں نازل ہوا تھا جس کی تفصیل یہ ہے کہ میرے اور میرے ایک چچا زاد بھائی کے درمیان کچھ زمین مشترک تھی چچا زاد بھائی میرے حصے کا منکر ہوگا میں اسے نبی کریم ﷺ کی خدمت میں لے آیا نبی کریم ﷺ نے مجھ سے فرمایا کیا تمہارے پاس گواہ ہیں؟ میں نے عرض کیا نہیں نبی کریم ﷺ نے یہودی سے فرمایا کہ تم قسم کھاؤ، میں نے عرض کیا یا رسول اللہ! یہ تو قسم کھا کر میرا مال لے جائے گا، اس پر اللہ نے یہ آیت آخر تک نازل فرمائی کہ " جو لوگ اللہ کے وعدے اور اپنی قسم کو معمولی سی قیمت کے عوض بیچ دیتے ہیں۔۔۔۔
Shafiq bin Salma kehte hain ke aik martaba Hazrat Ibn Masood Radi Allaho Anhu ne humain teen hadithen sunayein un mein se aik yeh bhi thi ke Nabi Kareem Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam ne irshad farmaya jo shakhs jhooti qasam kha kar kisi musalman ka maal hathya le woh Allah se us haal mein mulaqat kare ga Allah us se naraz hoga, isi asna mein Hazrat Asha'as Radi Allaho Anhu bhi agaye woh kehne lage ke Abu Abdur Rehman ne kaun si hadithen bayan ki hain? hum ne unhen batadya, Hazrat Asha'as farmane lage ke yeh irshad mere waqeye mein nazil hua tha jis ki tafseel yeh hai ke mere aur mere aik chacha zad bhai ke darmiyan kuch zameen mushtak thi chacha zad bhai mere hisse ka munkar hoga main usey Nabi Kareem Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam ki khidmat mein le aya Nabi Kareem Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam ne mujh se farmaya kya tumhare pass gawah hain? main ne arz kiya nahin Nabi Kareem Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam ne Yahoodhi se farmaya ke tum qasam khao, main ne arz kiya Ya Rasulullah! yeh to qasam kha kar mera maal le jaye ga, is per Allah ne yeh ayat akhir tak nazil farmayi ke "Jo log Allah ke waday aur apni qasam ko mamooli si qeemat ke awaz bech dete hain.....
Ash'as ibn Qais reported: A man from the tribe of Kinda and a man from Hadramawt came to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, disputing about a piece of land in Yemen. The Hadrami man said, “O Messenger of Allah, this man and his father have seized my land!” The Kinda man said, “O Messenger of Allah, it is my land which I inherited from my father!” The Hadrami man said, “O Messenger of Allah, ask him to swear an oath that he does not know this to be the land of me and my father, which his father seized!” The Kinda man was ready to take the oath, but the Prophet said, “Verily, whoever seizes a piece of land by means of a false oath will meet Allah on the Day of Resurrection with leprosy upon him.” Upon hearing this, the Kinda man said, “The land belongs to him and his father.”

حضرت اشعث رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ قبیلہ کندہ اور حضرموت کا ایک آدمی یمن کی ایک زمین کے بارے میں اپنا جھگڑا لے کر نبی کریم ﷺ کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوئے، حضرمی کہنے لگا یا رسول اللہ! اس نے اور اس کے باپ نے مل کر میری زمین غصب کرلی ہے کندی کہنے لگا یا رسول اللہ! وہ میری زمین ہے جو مجھے وراثت میں اپنے باپ سے ملی ہے، حضرمی کہنے لگا یا رسول اللہ! اس سے اس بات پر قسم لے لیجئے کہ اسے یہ معلوم نہیں کہ یہ میری اور میرے والد کی زمین ہے جسے اس کے باپ نے غصب کیا تھا، کندی قسم کھانے کے لئے تیار ہوا تو نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا جو شخص اپنی قسم کے ذریعے کوئی مال حاصل کرتا ہے وہ قیامت کے دن اللہ سے اس حال میں ملاقات کرے گا کہ وہ جذام میں مبتلا ہوگا یہ سن کر کندی کہنے لگا کہ یہ زمین اسی کی ہے اور اس کے والد کی ہے۔
Hazrat Ashas RA se marvi hai ki qabila Kinda aur Hadramout ka ek aadmi Yemen ki ek zameen ke baare mein apna jhagra lekar Nabi Kareem SAW ki khidmat mein hazir hue, Hazarmi kahne laga Ya Rasulullah! usne aur uske baap ne mil kar meri zameen ghasab karli hai, Kandi kahne laga Ya Rasulullah! woh meri zameen hai jo mujhe wirasat mein apne baap se mili hai, Hazarmi kahne laga Ya Rasulullah! us se is baat par qasam le lijiye ki use ye maloom nahi ki ye meri aur mere walid ki zameen hai jise uske baap ne ghasab kiya tha, Kandi qasam khane ke liye taiyar hua to Nabi Kareem SAW ne farmaya jo shakhs apni qasam ke zariye koi maal hasil karta hai woh qayamat ke din Allah se us haal mein mulaqat karega ki woh jussam mein mubtala hoga ye sun kar Kandi kahne laga ki ye zameen usi ki hai aur uske walid ki hai.
