Chapter on one who is physically capable but cannot afford to travel, and someone who is able to obey or hire him should ensure the obligation of Hajj.
باب المضنو في بدنه لا يثبت على مركب وهو قادر على من يطيعه أو يستأجره فيلزمه فريضة الحج.

Narrated `Abdullah bin Abbas: Al-Fadl bin `Abbas, رضي الله عنهما, was riding behind Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as his companion rider on the back portion of his she-camel. A woman from the tribe of Khath'am came and Al-Fadl started looking at her and she started looking at him. The Prophet (ﷺ) turned Al-Fadl's face to the other side whereupon the woman said, "The obligation of Hajj enjoined by Allah on His devotees, has become due (on my father) but he is too old to sit firmly on the riding animal. Will it be permissible that I perform Hajj on his behalf?" The Prophet (ﷺ) replied, "Yes, you may." And that happened during the Hajjat-al-Wada' (of the Prophet).

(٨٦٢٥) سیدنا عبداللہ بن عباس (رض) فرماتے ہیں کہ فضل بن عباس (رض) رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے پیچھے سوار تھے کہ خثعم قبیلہ کی ایک عورت آئی اور فتویٰ پوچھنے لگی اور فضل (رض) اس کو دیکھنے لگے اور وہ فضل (رض) کو دیکھنے لگی تو رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فضل (رض) کا چہرہ دوسری جانب موڑ دیا تو اس عورت نے کہا : اللہ تعالیٰ کے فریضہ حج نے میرے والد گرامی کو اس حالت میں پایا ہے کہ وہ سواری پر نہیں بیٹھ سکتے تو کیا میں ان کی طرف سے حج کروں ؟ تو آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : ” ہاں “ اور یہ حجۃ الوداع کی بات ہے۔
(8625) Syedna Abdullah bin Abbas (RA) farmate hain ke Fazal bin Abbas (RA) Rasul Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ke peeche sawar thay ke Khath'am qabila ki ek aurat aayi aur fatwa puchne lagi aur Fazal (RA) usko dekhne lage aur wo Fazal (RA) ko dekhne lagi to Rasul Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne Fazal (RA) ka chehra dusri janib mor diya to us aurat ne kaha: Allah Ta'ala ke farz-e-hajj ne mere walid girami ko is halat mein paya hai ke wo sawari par nahin baith sakte to kya mein unki taraf se hajj karoon? To aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne farmaya: " Haan" aur ye Hajjatul Wida ki baat hai.
Sayyidina Abdullah bin Abbas (R.A.) narrated: A woman from the tribe of Khath'am came to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) in the year of Hajj-al-Wida (Farewell Pilgrimage) seeking a religious verdict. She said, "O Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), the obligation of Hajj set by Allah upon His servants has found my father in a state of old age, where he cannot sit on a mount. So, will it be sufficient for him if I perform Hajj on his behalf?" He (ﷺ) said, "Yes."

(٨٦٢٦ و ٨٦٢٧) سیدنا عبداللہ بن عباس (رض) فرماتے ہیں : خثعم قبیلہ ایک کی عورت رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) سے فتویٰ لینے کے لیے حجۃ الوداع والے سال آئی ۔ اس نے کہا : اے اللہ کے نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) بندوں پر اللہ کے فریضہ حج نے میرے والد کو بڑھاپے کی حالت میں پایا ہے کہ وہ سواری پر نہیں بیٹھ سکتے تو کیا میرا ان کی طرف سے حج کرنا انھیں کفایت کر جائے گا، آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : جی ہاں۔
(8626 o 8627) Syedna Abdullah bin Abbas (RA) farmate hain : Khath'am qabila aik ki aurat Rasul Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) se fatwa lene ke liye Hajj-tul-wida walay saal aai . Usne kaha : Aye Allah ke Nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) bandon per Allah ke farz-e-Hajj ne mere walid ko burhape ki halat mein paya hai keh woh sawari per nahi baith sakte to kya mera unki taraf se Hajj karna unhein kafiyat kar jaye ga, Aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne farmaya : Jee haan.
Hazrat Fadl bin Abbas (RA) narrated that a woman came to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and said, “Hajj has become obligatory on my father but he has become old and cannot sit firmly on the riding animal. So, can I perform Hajj on his behalf?” The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Perform Hajj on his behalf.”

(٨٦٢٨) سیدنا فضل بن عباس (رض) فرماتے ہیں کہ ایک عورت رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے پاس آئی اور کہنے لگی : میرے والد محترم پر حج فرض ہوا ہے، جب کہ وہ بوڑھے ہوچکے ہیں، اونٹ پر سواری نہیں کرسکتے تو کیا میں ان کی طرف سے حج کروں ؟ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : ” ان کی طرف سے حج کرو۔ “
(8628) sydna fazl bin abbas (rz) farmate hain ki aik aurat rasool allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ke pass aai aur kahne lagi : mere walid mohtaram par hajj farz hua hai, jab k woh budhe hochuke hain, unt par sawari nahin karsakte to kya main unki taraf se hajj karun ? aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne farmaya : " unki taraf se hajj karo ".
Sayyiduna Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that a woman from the tribe of Khath'am asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) on the Day of Sacrifice, while Fadl (may Allah be pleased with him) was riding behind him, "The Hajj that Allah has made obligatory has come upon my father while he is old and unable to sit firmly on a camel. What is your opinion, should Hajj be performed on his behalf?" The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) replied, "Yes."

(٨٦٢٩) سیدنا ابن عباس (رض) فرماتے ہیں کہ خثعمی عورت نے رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) سے یوم نحر کو پوچھا جب کہ فضل آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے ردیف تھے کہ بندوں پر اللہ کے فرض شدہ حج نے میرے والد کو اس حال میں پایا ہے کہ وہ بوڑھے ہیں اور اونٹنی پر نہیں ٹک سکتے تو آپ کا کیا خیال ہے کیا ان کی طرف سے حج کیا جائے ؟ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : جی ہاں۔
8629 Saidna Ibn Abbas (RA) farmate hain ke Khath'ami aurat ne Rasul Allah (SAW) se Yaum-e-Nahar ko poocha jab ke Fazal aap (SAW) ke radif thay ke bandon par Allah ke farz shuda Hajj ne mere walid ko is hal mein paya hai ke woh budhey hain aur oontai par nahin tikk sakte to aap ka kya khayal hai kya unki taraf se Hajj kiya jaye? Aap (SAW) ne farmaya: Ji haan.
Narrated Abdullah bin Abbas (RA): A woman from the tribe of Khath'am came to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) during the Hajj-al-Wida (Farewell Hajj), while Fadl (RA) was riding behind him. She said, "O Allah's Messenger! The obligation of performing Hajj enjoined by Allah upon His devotees, has become due (in the case) of my father and he is old and weak, and he cannot sit firm on the riding animal." The Prophet (ﷺ) said (to her), "Perform Hajj on his behalf."

(٨٦٣٠) سیدنا عبداللہ بن عباس (رض) فرماتے ہیں کہ خثعم قبیلے کی ایک عورت نے حجۃ الوداع کے موقع پر رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) سے کہا اور فضل (رض) آپ کے پیچھے سوار تھے کہ فریضہ الٰہی حج نے میرے والد کو بڑھاپے میں پایا ہے کہ وہ سواری پر سوار نہیں رہ سکتے تو کیا ان کی طرف سے میرا حج کرنا کفایت کر جائے گا ؟ تو آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے اس سے فرمایا : ” ہاں “
(8630) Syedna Abdullah bin Abbas (RA) farmate hain ki Khath'am qabile ki ek aurat ne Hajjatal Wida ke mauqe par Rasul Allah (SAW) se kaha aur Fazal (RA) aap ke peeche sawar thay ki fariza ilahi Hajj ne mere walid ko budhape mein paya hai ki woh sawari par sawar nahi reh sakte to kya unki taraf se mera Hajj karna kafiyat kar jayega? To aap (SAW) ne us se farmaya: " Haan ".
Sayyiduna 'Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that a young woman from the tribe of Khath'am addressed the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said, "My father is old, and the Hajj, which Allah has made obligatory upon people, has become obligatory upon him too, but he is unable to perform it. So, will it be sufficient for him if I perform Hajj on his behalf?" The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Yes." Darawardi narrates from 'Uthman bin 'Umar, and in his narration, the words are: "If I perform Hajj on his behalf, will it suffice him?"

(٨٦٣١) سیدنا علی (رض) فرماتے ہیں کہ خثعم کی ایک نوجوان عورت نے رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کو مخاطب ہو کر کہا کہ میرا والد بوڑھا ہے، بندوں پر اللہ کا فرض کردہ حج ان پر بھی فرض ہوگیا ہے، لیکن وہ اسے ادا کرنے کی استطاعت نہیں رکھتا تو کیا ان کی طرف سے میرا ادا کرنا ان کو کفایت کر جائے گا ، تو آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : ” ہاں۔ “ حضرت دراوردی عثمان بن عمر سے روایت کرتے ہیں، اس روایت میں یہ الفاظ ہیں : اگر میں اس کی طرف سے ادا کروں تو کیا اس کو کفایت کر جائے گا۔
(8631) Syedna Ali (RA) farmate hain ke Khath'am ki ek naujawan aurat ne Rasul Allah (SAW) ko mukhatib ho kar kaha ke mera walid boorha hai, bandon par Allah ka farz karda Hajj un par bhi farz ho gaya hai, lekin woh ise ada karne ki istata'at nahin rakhta to kya un ki taraf se mera ada karna un ko kafiyat kar jaye ga, to aap (SAW) ne farmaya: " Haan." Hazrat Daraوردی Usman bin Umar se riwayat karte hain, is riwayat mein ye alfaz hain: Agar main is ki taraf se ada karoon to kya is ko kafiyat kar jaye ga.
Abu Zarain Aqili (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: I said: "O Messenger of Allah! My father is very old, he cannot perform Hajj and Umrah, nor can he ride." You (peace and blessings of Allah be upon you) said: "Perform Hajj and Umrah on behalf of your father."

(٨٦٣٣) ابورزین عقیلی (رض) فرماتے ہیں کہ میں نے کہا : اے اللہ کے رسول ! میرے والد گرامی بہت بوڑھے ہیں وہ حج و عمرہ نہیں کرسکتے اور نہ ہی سواری تو آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : اپنے والد کی طرف سے حج اور عمروہ کرو۔
8633 Aburazzaq Uqaili (RA) farmate hain keh maine kaha aye Allah ke Rasool mere walid giraami bahut boorhe hain woh Hajj o Umrah nahi kar sakte aur na hi sawari to aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne farmaya apne walid ki taraf se Hajj aur Umrah karo.
Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Zubair (RA) narrates that a man from the tribe of Khath'am came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said: "O Messenger of Allah! My father accepted Islam when he was very old, unable to ride, and Hajj is obligatory upon him. Can I perform Hajj on his behalf?" He (ﷺ) asked: "Are you his eldest son?" He replied: "Yes." He (ﷺ) asked: "What do you think, if your father had a debt and you paid it off, would that suffice?" He replied: "Yes." He (ﷺ) said: "Then perform Hajj on his behalf."

(٨٦٣٤) سیدنا عبداللہ بن زبیر (رض) فرماتے ہیں کہ خثعم قبیلہ کا ایک آدمی نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے پاس آیا اور اس نے کہا : اے اللہ کے رسول (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) ! میرے والد نے اسلام کو پایا جب وہ بوڑھے ہوچکے سواری نہیں کرسکتے اور حج ان پر فرض ہے۔ کیا میں ان کی طرف سے حج کروں ؟ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : آپ اس کے بڑے فرزند ہیں ؟ کہنے لگا : جی ہاں آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : کیا خیال ہے اگر آپ کے والد پر قرضہ ہوتا اور آپ اس کو ادا کردیتے تو کیا یہ کفایت کرجاتا ؟ کہنے لگا : جی ہاں، آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : تو اس کی طرف سے حج کرو۔
(8634) Sayyidina Abdullah bin Zubair (RA) farmate hain ki Khath'am qabila ka ek aadmi Nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ke paas aaya aur usne kaha: Aye Allah ke Rasul ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم))! Mere walid ne Islam ko paya jab woh buddhe ho chuke sawari nahin kar sakte aur Hajj un par farz hai. Kya main unki taraf se Hajj karoon? Aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne farmaya: Aap uske bade farzand hain? Kehne laga: Ji haan. Aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne farmaya: Kya khayal hai agar aapke walid par qarza hota aur aap usko ada karte to kya yeh kafaayat kar jata? Kehne laga: Ji haan. Aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne farmaya: To uski taraf se Hajj karo.
Narrated Abdullah bin Abbas (RA): A man came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said: My mother is very old and we cannot ride her, she is unable to ride, and if we tie her (on the riding animal) we fear her death. Shall I perform Hajj on her behalf? He (ﷺ) said: Yes.

(٨٦٣٦) سیدنا عبداللہ بن عباس (رض) فرماتے ہیں کہ ایک شخص نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے پاس آیا اور کہنے لگا : میری والدہ کافی عمر کی ہے، ہم اس کو سواری پر نہیں بٹھا سکتے، وہ سوار ہونے سے قاصر ہے اور اگر ہم اس کو (سواری پر) باندھ دیں تو اس کی موت کا خدشہ ہے، کیا میں اس کی طرف سے حج کروں ؟ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : ہاں۔
(8636) Syedna Abdullah bin Abbas (RA) farmate hain ke ek shakhs Nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ke pass aaya aur kahne laga : meri walida kaafi umar ki hai, hum us ko sawari par nahi bitha sakte, woh sawar hone se qasir hai aur agar hum us ko (sawari par) bandh dein to us ki mout ka khadsha hai, kya main us ki taraf se Hajj karun ? Aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne farmaya : Haan.
